We stopped into Fire on the Bayou for our second time and absolutely loved it! The whole place gives off a fun, lively New Orleans vibe -- from the decor and music to the friendly energy from the staff. We ordered the Blackened Mahi with jalapeño tartar sauce and it was packed with flavor -- perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The Surf & Turf Po' Boy with their Cajun house-made remoulade was another hit -- messy in the best way and bursting with flavor and their bread makes it so perfect! You can really tell everything is made fresh in-house. Service was excellent -- our server was upbeat, helpful with recommendations, and made sure we were well taken care of from start to finish. If you're craving bold flavors, great service, and that Louisiana flair without leaving Florida, this spot hits all the marks. We'll definitely be back to try more!

Well, one 3 part entree turned from $14.99 to 21.99 and omg the SALT. I was aSALTed, so bad. I can't recommend this place for the $7 upcharge on one item and the excessive amount of salt. Absolutely Terrible. The beer was good still but that's about all I can say positively.

Excellent Cajun flavors and service for a casual meal. Everything was fresh and properly prepared (including lightly breaded and fried).

Excellent NOLA food and service. We had a combo plate seafood jambalaya, sausage gumbo and beans with dirty rice. All were excellent. Gator bites were good, fresh. Beignets were a superb finish. Most highly recommended.

Cajun Cravings! Food: ***Boudin Balls***So good! Super meaty, well seasoned pork, and a light batter that let the flavor shine. ***Cajun Pasta*** Just okay for me decent flavor, but felt like it needed a little more oomph. ***Taste of NOLA***Loved the variety in one bowl! Beans & rice were packed with flavor, jambalaya was tasty (bonus shrimp hidden at the bottom), and gumbo hit the spot. Just way too much rice, I wish it was served on the side to be able to enjoy the food better. ***Dessert*** decided on the bread pudding with Bourbon. So good! The bourbon sauce wow! Pretty generous portion shareable item for a group. I wish there was a little ice cream on the side to totally break the diet Vibes: Chill, colorful decor good convo spot. I do wish the music was louder for a livelier vibe, just my preference!! Service: Fast seating even on a busy Sunday. Our waiter was super helpful, gave great recs, and stayed super attentive throughout.

Another amazing lunch at Fire on the Bayou! I tried something different today, a catfish dish with seared shrimp and "dirty" rice. It was absolutely to die for. Our waitress was attentive and very helpful with our plate modifications, and was kind enough to make us a drink to go. This place continues to impress me, not only in food quality, but also in the care the waiters put into their tables, the vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant, and the flavors I doubt you could find half as good anywhere else in Central FL! This is THE spot for Cajun food.

The cuisine and service were truly exceptional! I had the Voodoo Shrimp Tacos, Blackened Shrimp Tacos, and my Husband had the Shrimp Platter--and every single bite was chef's kiss. The flavors were bold, fresh, and full of that authentic New Orleans flair. The blackened seasoning was perfect, and the voodoo sauce had just the right kick. On top of the amazing food, the staff was warm, attentive, and made the whole experience feel special. If you're looking for a true taste of NOLA, this place delivers. I'll definitely be back for more!

My last visit was several years ago and thought it'd give it another go. I've gone a handful of times and haven't been very impressed. Unfortunately I think I'm done trying. Credit where credit's due, it's a neat space and the staff are nice. But the food is just not worth a return trip. We had the boudin ball appetizer which were fried hard outside but a bit mushy inside and quite salty. The pepper jelly it was served with definitely helped temper the salt but it just didn't really spark any excitement as a whole. I've eaten boudin alone and much prefer it that way. The crawfish étouffée was delicious and had perfectly cooked crawfish tails which were plentiful. The Taste of NOLA is a great option to try three iconic Cajun dishes - but only one was worth eating. The jambalaya was still a bit salty but nicely seasoned and everything was cooked well from tender shrimp to andouille sausage coins with crispy edges. The red beans and rice had a bitter taste not quite vinegary but similar and no smoky, unctuous flavor that I'm used to. It might be because the andouille is served on top and not cooked in with it? Finally, the gumbo was inedible due to an off flavor, almost acrid? I've made roux before and it's almost like the oil was off or a spice was added too early and burned. When the waiter asked how things were I pointed out my concerns and he said he'd see what he could do. The bill came and nothing was done. We paid, tipped him well (food wasn't his fault) and left. It's disappointing because we don't have a lot of unique cuisines in our area. Plenty of people have high praise for this place so maybe it's just my personal tastes in play here. I'd say do give it a shot and make your own opinion. Maybe their burgers and po boys are excellent?

We had seen a bunch of glowing reviews for this one, and I am so glad we tried it! We had the fish and chips special the night we were there and it was truly some of the best fried fish I have ever had. The service was Very friendly and efficient. They were so kind when they heard that we were celebrating my husband's birthday, they sent us home with a pan of delicious beignets for a dessert. Can't say enough about this place and when I am in the area I will definitely be back

I took my mom here because she loves bread pudding and I used to absolutely hate bread pudding. My whole entire life, well 40 years in, I ran into their bread pudding here and they made me a believer. Now, my mom finally had a chance to taste all that I've been raving about and she said it should be a crime to have bread pudding that taste that good. She's not going to order any other bread pudding for anyone else from now on. Everything was amazing and had so much flavor. I'm surprised that any place in Orange City has this much flavor. I highly recommend.

First time here at the Bayou and I say it was very good!! It's a really small restaurant but it was very cozy. The food was fantastic. I had gumbo for the first time and definitely want to get back there and have more. My wife had the voodoo tacos and they were delicious and also the gator bites can't be left out. Our server was very friendly and did a great job especially with pretty much doing most everything by herself. The wait for the food was reasonable and no complaints here as well. I recommend checking it out!!

Nestled…read moreright along the river, this no-frills spot has been serving up Southern comfort since 1954, and let me tell you--it's worth the visit. Now, don't let the rustic, timeworn ambiance fool you. It's all part of the charm! The warm hospitality, wallet-friendly prices, and downright delicious food make this a must-stop for locals and travelers alike. We indulged in a feast of true Florida flavors, starting with crispy Fried Green Tomatoes, perfectly seasoned Gator Bites, tender Frog Legs, and flavorful Conch Fritters. Each bite had us nodding in approval, but the real star of the meal? The Gator Burger--a juicy half-pound blend of gator and pork, topped with lettuce, tomato, and their signature spicy cream sauce. Served with golden Hush Puppies, it was absolute perfection. For seafood lovers, the Fried Ponga (whitefish) was light, flaky, and cooked just right. And just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, we made room for dessert--the Apple Blossom, a warm, sweet treat that wrapped up the meal beautifully. Shady Oak Restaurant truly captures the heart of Florida dining--simple, delicious, and served with a smile.
