I have been coming to Mi Universe since it opened. Hope is the owner and operator, and I have been loyally going to her since her original shop tucked in the corner at Raley's shopping center back in the day. The shop is clean and all the staff are so sweet and professional. I have never had a bad experience, a break in between or a chip and I am very rough on my nails. I have been to a few other shops while on vacation or tagging along with a friend or group of girls and believe me, no one compares. Do yourself a favor and go get a deluxe pedicare. I have tried a few Nail places in Benicia over the last 20 years. Hope, Holli & Yuki are So genuinely welcoming. I have struggled with in grown toe nails. I went a number of times to Kaiser but they wanted to cut off 1/2 my toe nail. Finally, got referred to a podiatrist, who said if you can find a pedicurist to pull out ingrown nail to go to them. Holli is a miracle worker. She has resolved the my issue. And gives a great massage. Hope (owner) does the powder dip on my nails. They last a long time. Overall, prices are more reasonable than other salons in Benicia. Hope also does my eyebrow/lip waxing. Customer Service is excellent! I won't be going anywhere else! read more

It was my first time here when I walked in on November 15th & I got a full set with the deluxe pedicure. Now I will say the deluxe pedicure was good and the wax felt really nice on my feet but sadly now my French tip is already messed up 4 days later.. I really wanted to come back here but both my thumb nails popped off on the same day 17th and I was so sad. I went in to get it fixed and they were busy at the time and told me I can wait an hour. I couldn't wait an hour at that time so I called back and asked for an appointment and the lady that picked up said "We're very busy today I don't know what time I can schedule" I was so shocked and mad that I was treated that way after I spent good money I'm there and got treated like that. They eventually tell me they will call me back and tell me when I can come which was weird but okay? I would of gave Hope the owner a five star a few months ago... however since going there for over two years every 3 weeks I ended up with a nail infection. A about an hour after my last visit there my nails started to itch like crazy... I researched the internet for help.. then I reached out and called Hope ...She told me to soak my hands in warm salt water... because of what I found out on the internet ( there is a product used for acrylic nails that is Banned in the U. The owner Hope will most likely be the one doing your pedicure or she will at least be there. If you have the chance, ask for her. This place is very nice, a hidden gem. The massage chairs for pedicures are absolutely amazing!! Honestly, those chairs are the best I have ever sat in. The women who work here are family and have a great vibe. The mom is the only one to do my pedicures and she is quick and extremely attentive to detail. Same with her pedicures. I have Hope do my eyebrows and she's a pro. She also offered me a very nice service that helps your body heal. I took her up on it and she is very, very knowledgeable about Chinese medicine. I absolutely love this place! I stopped in last week and they were really busy so I went to a different nail salon in the Raleys shopping center. The entire experience at said salon was awful. I knew I should have waited or made an appointment for Mi Universe. Mi Universe is CLEAN! It should be a standard for nail salons but it's not. This salon is clean and looks well taken care of. I'm pretty sure either Hope or Holly did my nails and she was so unbelievably nice. I used to like this place but I feel like their gel manicures come undone way faster than they should. Mine peeled off within a week. They also don't file enough around the nail once the polish is on. The lady also picked way too much at my cuticles and caused me to bleed. I admit, I was a little skeptical to give this place a try with only 2 stars and two less than stellar reviews. But, they are near the house and I wanted to check it out. So me and my little tootsies toodled off for our adventure. The first visit was in October with Anna. She was a real sweetie and was very gentle. She did a very good job with my pedicure. My lil tootsies were looking great in Green Polish (my sister's favorite color). My next visit was on December 12. Anna wasn't available, so I took the technician du jour. I can't remember her name, but she did a good job also. I also opted for the eyebrow service, which was interesting to say the least. First of all, it's in the middle of the room, so everyone is all up in yo koolaid, so to speak. Then your chair, it doesn't recline, so you have to hunch your a$$ up and over some pillows so the lady can wax you. Now, she did do a good job, but I'm used to being in a special room, in private, mood music, you know.... This had shades of the shop on Georgia Street that I quit going to. The piece-de-resistance, she asked me if I wanted my mustache waxed. Uh, hello. It ain't a freakin mustache. Maybe 2 hairs on each side of my lip that if they were any smaller they'd be invisible. Prepubescent boys have more hair than I do. Heck, prepubescent boys would be ashamed to have what I have. I was insulted, can you tell? Oh, and you pay separately for the was than you do the manicure/pedicure, so you can't put it all on your credit card. FYI. Would I go again. Yes, for the pedicure. The staff is welcoming, helpful, friendly, professional, efficient, and the work is affordable. The massage chairs were so relaxing. Holly set the chair for me and the setting was perfect. Nail Salons are a dime a dozen, but THIS is my spot :) I love the folks who work here. My gels are done well, my french tips last forever, my fills NEVER look thick. The pedi's are heavenly with unlimited polish choices. Designs for your fingers and tootsies are only limited by your imagination. Did I mention surgically clean? Very disappointing. I saw on their website that gel is $20 and therer was a $5 coupon so I was exited but I got there and had nothing but problems. First while clipping my nails the older lady doing it clipped my cuticles to far and made THREE of them bleed. Then she was going to start painting and went to get the machine to dry them which caught fire BoTH times she tried turning it on. After realizing the cord was broken she told me they would try it with the machine built into the table which took a long time to dry them. Once they were painted she spent about 20 minutes cleaning off all the paint that had gotten onto my cuticles and fingers. In Total I was there for TWO hours! Just fr a gel manicure. When I paid they charged me $20...saying the gel is $25 minus the $5 coupon-even tho the website said $20. And now, less than 24 hours later, there are cracks in a bunch of my nails and I'm really upset but don't want to waste another two hours getting them to fix it. read more

The pink was bright pink that I found super annoying and the nails were too thick for my liking. The nail lady that did my nails was super nice so I have to rate her more than one star.
