Happy I found this salon! I am visiting from out of town and went to Gaia Nails today for a pedicure and mini facial. First of all, I love the calm, low lighting in the salon. The mini facial was so amazing and relaxing. The pedicure was great. You can choose the type of facial and pedicure you want. So thorough and the facial isn't was very sweet. I've been a loyal customer for quite some time, which makes this review even more disappointing to write. During my pedicure, the technician cut my toe. The owner had to come over and show her how to properly perform the service using my feet as the example. While they attempted to correct the mistake, it didn't undo the fact that I was injured during a service I was paying for. Because my toe was cut, I chose not to get gel polish so it could heal properly. After spending nearly two hours in the salon, I ended up leaving with my nails completely bare. Despite not receiving the gel polish service and leaving with unfinished nails, I was still charged the full amount I would have paid for a gel manicure and pedicure. The issue isn't that a mistake happened--mistakes can happen anywhere. The issue is that there was no reasonable accommodation made after the mistake. Being injured during a service, leaving with unpainted nails, and still being charged full price is unacceptable. I would have gladly returned once my toe healed to have my nails finished, but the way this situation was handled completely changed my mind. Unfortunately, I won't be returning and will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I visited Gaia Organic Nails in Benicia for the first time in years- moved and away and totally forgot about it till today. Wow this place is not your typical nail salon. The atmosphere feels more like walking into a spa than a nail shop. It's tranquil, dimly lit, and instantly relaxing. The greeter was extremely friendly and professional. There was a small wait for a chair (maybe 10 minutes), but honestly it was expected and didn't bother me. I got a dip manicure and the lavender pedicure, and everything about the experience was thoughtful and calming. They really set the mood with soft music, low lighting, and intentional treatments for each service. Once I was seated in the massage chair, they offered to start my manicure while I was still getting my pedicure -- which I loved and appreciated. I personally chose to keep the services separate. Still, the fact that they asked showed how considerate and accommodating they are. The lavender pedicure included all the essentials but with elevated touches: * an exfoliating scrub with a generous leg massage * warm lavender gel foot soak * a leg mask * warm towels wrapped around my legs * and a hot stone massage Every step felt purposeful and so relaxing, I genuinely enjoyed every minute. For the dip manicure, I really appreciated that they did it the correct way. No curing under a UV gel lamp, just proper dip technique, which is surprisingly hard to find nowadays. Overall, this was an amazing experience. The ambiance, the service, and the attention to detail all exceeded my expectations. I will most definitely be back. read more

Love this place and it is my go to place! Kelly is phenomenal and gave me exactly what I asked for in one stroke, didn't have to keep wiping off and redoing she is very talented. Every time I come here I never have to wait. The astomoshere is so relaxing i love how it's dark and not all brightly lit like most shops. It's very unique in that way and is why it stands out from the rest. Yes it can be pricey but with all that I said it's worth it to pay the 5 or 10 bucks more. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience and feel it's important to share. I had dip nails done here about four weeks ago and paid $50. When I returned, the same service was $65--a nearly 25% increase in just 30 days, which already felt excessive. More concerning, though, was the quality of the service itself. During my appointment (on a Monday), I noticed the technician seemed unsure. I've been getting my nails done for years, so I know how dip nails should look and feel. These felt unusually thin--almost like regular polish--despite the dipping process being done. I mentioned this to the technician and asked if someone else could take a look, but I was told no. I left feeling uncertain, though they looked nice at first. Within two days, five nails had completely fallen off. I went back to the salon, and another came off while I was there. After just three days, I only had four nails left with any dip on them. They sat me down quickly to "fix" the issue, but unfortunately assigned me the same technician. I again asked for someone else and was refused. He replaced the missing nails but did not redo the remaining ones, even though I explained that the issue seemed to be with the foundation and that they would likely continue to fail. He dismissed my concern. As expected, within two more days, the remaining nails also fell off. For $65, I would expect dip nails to last at least a few weeks--not fail within days. Instead, I ended up sitting in the salon three separate times, each visit lasting 45 minutes or more, just trying to get a basic result that should have been done correctly the first time. This was a frustrating waste of both time and money. I gave them an opportunity to correct the issue, but the lack of accountability and quality control was disappointing. Called to make an appointment for my daughter for a regular manicure. Was told it would be $15 for regular polish. Once we get there and my daughter is sat, the lady says "this will be $35 for the regular polish". I said "the guy who took my info on the phone told me it was $15", who was standing right next to us as this was all being said. She then said "oh, okay $15". Wtf??! She really tried charging me more than double on what I was quoted on the phone. A different lady came to do my daughter's nails, who was so sweet and did a nice job. But shame on the others. They are probably overcharging many other customers who don't know how to speak up on things like this. read more

Tammy didn't just do a basic pedicure. She really focused on my feet and worked on the spots that needed attention. She checked in, made sure the pressure was right, and took her time with the callus work. She's extremely detailed and you can tell she actually cares about the end result. Went two months on a Thursday evening for a pedicure, thought it would be relaxing after a stressful work week. The older woman asked me if I wanted my nails cut. I specifically told her NO because the last time I was here they were cut down to the nail beds. Guess what this woman did,, cut my big toe nail, now we have to cut nails even though I said NO! Then she starts digging in my toes, pretty sure she is blind and should not be doing pedicures. Then the owner comes in raw meat showing it to everyone. Finally we get to the massage part and they start mopping floors. Worst pedicure of my life, two times in a row, the last time is definitely the last tine. My Mom and I have been going here for the past few years but never again after the last three experiences. First poor experience left me with an infected toenail. I didn't think anything of it, maybe the pedicurist was having a bad day and it had never happened before. Second bad experience was yesterday - they exfoliated my Mom's foot until she bled (see picture). You can also see the raw spots lower on the toe joint. The pedicurist ignored her when she tried to pull her foot away as it happened and we didn't see the blood until she finally stopped. Third was the manicure I received yesterday after the pedicure incident. I had made the appointment for gel nail design. When I tried to explain what I wanted (small Mickey on one nail, small star on another nail, the rest just color with no design) they said they couldn't do it. I just wanted to leave at that point so I agreed to do what they said they COULD do. They didn't shape the nails, they didn't do gel, and they didn't do the designs that I asked for. When I went to pay (yes I still paid, you never know what someone is going through), I mentioned what happened. I still wanted to pay for their time but I asked for at least a discount. They didn't believe what happened (my Mom went to the car, she has cancer and was exhausted) but I told them to go ask the woman who did it to verify I wasn't lying. They went to the back to ask, then came back and offered a small discount - think it was 10% or something. In hindsight, I shouldn't have paid at all, but again, I wanted to pay for their time and I just wanted to leave. I'm not sure what to do at this point other than hope it doesn't get infected (again, Mom has cancer) and never go back. I'd advise everyone to do the same. read more
