My rating is a complete zero! I have been getting my nails done regularly every 2-4weeks for most my adult life. I have gone to different nails shops all over the Bay Area, and Not once have I ever experienced a problem like this or pain this bad, except for child birth, and getting my wisdom teeth pulled. The one falling off has been like this for four days already, and I am too much of a baby to pull it off, because it hurts so bad. No ones nails should ever be ripped completely off ever. This makes no sense. Obviously they must be using MMA acrylic powder because it's cheaper. "The use of MMA is not illegal for no reason; according to the United States Department of Labor, the industrial use of MMA has been associated with adverse health effects in some people, including irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and respiratory tract. Repeated exposure resulted in drowsiness, dizzy spells, and trembling of the hands. As if that's not bad enough, prolonged usage may contribute to nail damage and deformities in nail growth. Permanent loss of the nail plate and loss of sensation in the fingertips have also been reported. Worst case scenario? This was my first time here. I got there at 12:45 pm I wasn't greeted. I said i wanted to take off and get a new set. He says to take a seat. Without saying how long it would be before someone would start on me. I sat there for ten minutes and asked him how long it would be? He says 5-10 minutes. I waited 30 minutes total. Another man comes up to me and says "you wanted pedicure"? I say "no, I'm taking off and getting a new set"! By this time I'm annoyed. I finally sit in the chair and I'm waiting another ten minutes. I told him "no i can't come back later I'm here now!! Few minutes later a lady starts on me. And she asked me if I'm getting a fill!? No communication at all with each unless there talking about us!! About 2 or 3 different people were working on my nails. Don't know why. Around 2:40 pm she asked me to wash my hands no soap. Not sure how you wash something without soap. So i go rinse my hands. She paints them and I'm not out of there until 3:25pm. I gave two stars because i like how they turned out. Working where you depend on customers to make a living you need to have better customer service skills!!! Probably won't come back. Definitely not on the weekend. Just finished with my manicure with the person sitting second to the last chair near the back gate. Didn't catch her name, but 5 of my fingers cuticles were cut too deep where it started to bleed and right thumb skin on the top edge she cut a chunk off as well. She is not gentle, but when it comes to painting the color wise she is doing that part right. -1 Star for not being gentle and while cutting my cuticles she was looking on the opposite site of my direction- not even focused on me. I had a secondary who helped me with my manicure for the design that I've chosen- which was a white gel marble design. No cons there, but only pro is that she nicely drew the lines for the design. Cons: When I walked in and was seated down- the first thing I heard was them talking about me in Vietnamese. I always see Hannah she is very sweet and kind and so thorough because my feet can be a mess. I get ingrown nails and my feet get rough within a few weeks so when I saw Hannah she took care of all of that. The previous shop I would go to got kind of lax on not working on those areas. Mark is THE MAN. He is very calm and humble. After viewing his work on Yelp, I had to schedule an appointment with him. I am extremely picky with my nails since my mom used to own a nail shop so I have my preferences.. and I completely trust Mark. Have been to him twice so far and very happy both times. We all know we have those moments while we're watching a person do our nails like "I hope he/she sees that part on the side..." or "I hope they fix the misshape on this nail" or whatever! And every time I had these hidden feelings watching, he notices the imperfections himself and fixes it without me having to say anything! Mark pays attention to detail and I fully appreciate that. The staff here try really hard to keep appointment times organized and on time. Before they knew I was Vietnamese, I heard them trying to be on time but thorough on their work. I am sooo happy for Mark!! I love how he ventured away from Signature nails and made a boss move by opening his own shop!! (Signature totally screwed up my nails and of course Luxury saved the day!) I came in for a pedicure, manicure and facial waxing. I had my pedicure first. The salon itself is newly opened, so I was in a very comfortable new massage chair. They had the tubs for your feet lined with plastic and had the water set at the perfect temperature. I liked how they had different pedicure package options, from your basic pedicure to more in-depth ones based on what you want. I got a $30 pedicure that included a a scrub and mask for drier feet. I like the outcome of my nails but I'm only giving them 3 stars because they gave my 1pm appointment away. And yes I was 10 min early. Even though I only had to wait 30 min it set me back on my schedule. You call in for an appointment so you don't have to wait right? And I had a very tight schedule that's why I also called in for an appt. Also while I was waiting another lady came in at 1:20pm and I overheard her say that she was late for her 1pm appt with Mark. And I get it people can overbook, it happens. But if you're in a tight schedule, like i said, it gets annoying. Mark took his time even with his busy schedule, which I appreciated. A few air bubbles on my pointer finger. But shape and color came out how I wanted it. I definitely plan on coming back because it's hard to find a nail technician who actually knows how to do acrylics. I just hope they don't give my appointment away again. *update* came back for a second time and the results were better. I was happy with the deluxe pedicure and they lady did a great job painting the nails. She also took her time in cleaning them. As for the ombre acrylics... she did mess up and forgot to spray paint two fingers but mark came back and fixed them. The only problem was it was 2-3 coats thicker than it was suppose to be.
