I was craving pasta, so a friend and I decided to check out this spot in the Vintage Park area. It was a little tricky to find if you're new to the area, but it's located right across from El Tiempo. We visited around 8 pm on a Sunday, and the atmosphere was dressy casual. It wasn't overly crowded, so we were seated fairly quickly. We started with complimentary bread, which came out hot and was served with olive oil. It was delicious! Since I have a dairy sensitivity, it was a bit challenging to narrow down what to order. I ended up getting the Polpette, which normally comes with two giant meatballs and whole wheat spaghetti, but I substituted with the lamb meatballs because the original version contained cheese. Hindsight, I probably should have stuck with the original dish because I wasn't a fan of the lamb meatballs. That said, the overall flavor of the dish was still very good. If I return, I'd definitely be interested in trying something different from the menu. read more

Why 3 stars? Because it was a mixed bag. --- --- --- 2-3 years earlier, my wife and I visited Mia Bella in Houston and had an absolutely unbelievable experience. The food was stellar across the board and the service was top 5 of our entire lives. Shortly after this visit, we found out that they also had a location in the Willowbrook area, which is a lot closer to us. And my wife's parents love Italian food, so we were hoping to go as a group in the very near future. Well fast forward from 2023, all the way to 2026, and we finally made this happen. I was super excited to show off the place that I'd talked up for nearly 3 years. Unfortunately, this was nowhere near that experience. Overall, we still enjoyed it to a degree, but it was certainly not worth the 40-45 minute commute for us, and even longer for my in-laws. I went back to refresh my memory and read my original review. We ordered three things that totally blew our minds: chicken parm, seafood lasagna and the prosciutto and mozzarella pizza. So that's what we ordered here. I'll start off with the biggest miss: the chicken parm. This is what I said about it from my first visit: "This was explained as not a typical chicken parm dish, as the chicken breast is stuffed with a bunch of things. And I think it's good for people to know that so they aren't given something so far different from way they expect, but I am here to tell you that this is BETTER than classic chicken parm. Sometimes chicken can dry out, but this stuffed chicken breast was anything but dry. Every bite was just ideal. Again, don't come here without ordering this." Here, it was the polar opposite. Dry and bland. The pasta seemed like it had been boiled and that was it. There was no flavor to it. I don't think I can give this anything beyond 2-stars, and that might be generous. The pizza was extremely basic cheese pizza that just happened to have prosciutto on top. This sounds over the top, but this might as well have been Chuck E. Cheese pizza other than the prosciutto. Again, I'll be generous and offer 3-stars. The saving grace is that the seafood lasagna was awesome. An easy 5-stars on this one - no complaints at all. If you simply come here, enjoy the great bread they bring out, and order the seafood lasagna, you'll have a great experience. I hate to give such a negative review, especially for a place I was so pumped to visit, but it was a pretty night and day experience from the other location. read more

Boy oh boy, Mia Bella's has fallen off the wagon. My last review stands accurate. Almost mimic's the last experience I had when my hubs and I dined here last Sunday. While they were friendly and apologized for the food not tasting right, this place has gone significantly downhill from what it used to be. We ordered the crispy calamari, the tomato basil soup, and the lamb dish and all of the dishes had issues. The crispy calamari needed more flavor and seasoning - a different batter perhaps? It just fell flat, except for the crispiness. I'd say the marinara sauce saved it, but that's not a good sign if the food needs to be dunked in sauce to give it flavor. The tomato basil soup doesn't taste the same from years before, and I guess the last time I was there was 3 years ago. It tasted sour and then had a weird sweet note at the end...weird, then when I sent it back they tried to rectify it by adding a ton of heavy cream... :/ that's no bueno, because when I tasted the attempt of improving it, it tasted like just heavy cream and was almost a creamy white... The lamb was so expensive - very dry and quality was not there. Pretty disappointing to say the least, but my hubs wanted to dine here last week, I did not. For good reason. read more

We celebrated my mom's birthday at Mia Bella, and it was a wonderful choice. The restaurant is a nice place with a really good ambiance, perfect for a special occasion. The pizza was really good, and the drinks were a highlight as well. I loved the Bellini and the sangria, both were refreshing and delicious. UPDATE: we have had quite a few meals here and I trust their "delicious quotient" enough that I'm willing to be experimental. While Mr. Picky scarfed down his favorite Mezaluna ravioli (he's stuck in the rut of ordering it all the time because it's so yummy), I decided to try the Seafood Lasagna. That type of lasagna is a first for me and so I felt some trepidation at the first bite. Wasn't sure what I thought and so then I moved to another bite, and then another. After sampling this apparently very popular dish, I decided I liked it quite a bit. My favorite is still the Chicken Parmigiana. Bottom line, I am not afraid of trying something new. Dessert was a new item for both of us. I tried the ginger bread pudding (requested extra sauce) while he opted for the Flourless Chocolate Cake. Such a sad decline in quality. I could have went to Carrabbas for a better meal. Sea scallop risotto smelled like old seafood as soon as it hit the table. The staff insisted it was fresh not frozen. Mushroom strudel lacked flavor. After my husband said it tasted like a hot pocket I couldn't forget it. Lamb ravioli- literally 4 raviolis. Inside was less than appetizing. My family and I came here to celebrate my sister's birthday and it did not disappoint! Our waiter Daniel was nice the entire time and super attentive to what we needed. We went during lunch time on Monday, so it wasn't very crowded and plenty of seating was available. The complimentary bread was absolutely delicious! It was a warm focaccia with Parmesan sprinkled on top with an olive oil dipping. They brought out 2 complimentary for the table and each additional one you get is $8. For appetizers we got the roasted cauliflower and the tomato bruschetta. The cauliflower was pretty bland in my opinion and needed some type of sauce to be drizzled on top or not the side for the dipping. We did enjoy the pickled onions that were on top! I wouldn't order the cauliflower again though. The bruschetta was super fresh and delicious. I wish it came with more pieces though. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with fries (which was really just house potatoes). The sandwich was absolutely delicious! The goat cheese really takes it to another level and adds a delicious creaminess to the sandwich along with the pesto aioli. It had grilled zucchini as well and everything paired together was a 10/10. The kale linguine was interesting in my opinion. I didn't like the flavor of it and it just seemed like a bunch of things were thrown in together. The whole wheat tortellini was so good!! The size of the tortellinis were quite huge, but WOW it tasted absolutely amazing. The eggplant Parmesan was really good and it wasn't breaded, which I liked. The tomato sauce it's in tasted super fresh and homemade. I wasn't a huge fan of the Alfredo pasta it came with, but if it had a tomato sauce that would've tasted great! We ordered the Italian cream cake for dessert. They were out of the complimentary birthday dessert they have, so we had to pay full price for it. It tasted really delicious and the coconut flakes on top took it to the next level. Everything we got came out to $198, including drinks. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday lunch before we went to make candles and I was super impressed. It was an absolutely beautiful day and we sat outside. The hostess gave us zero issue about wanting to eat outside or on the side with no people seated. We had the most attentive waitress and the food was probably the best I have ever had. I am a vegetarian and they had so many options. And we won't even talk about the bread. Chefs kiss! All of the dishes were fresh, and flavorful. My favorite Italian restaurant in greater Houston. It's an upscale establishment in Vintage Park and is one of the best places there. Any of their pasta dishes are simply amazing. Service is also excellent and they provide one complimentary focaccia bread that always leaves you wanting more. My favorite dishes here are the lamb ravioli and duck tortellini. Had a minor thing come up on my last visit and he addressed it and made sure we had a great experience after. Food: the tortellini with chicken is absolutely amazing. I don't really eat Italian food all the time but this has become my go to for Italian. My gf really like the seafood spaghetti. Also the tiramisu cake was great. The restaurant is clean and they have those cute little personal purse/hat/coat stands they bring to each table. The bright lighting during the day makes your dining experience feel warm & inviting - perfect for Sunday brunch or a nice lunch during the workweek. Beautiful location, with free garage parking. The restaurant is blasting cold though! Our server was fantastic. The calamari only was a pass but the only thing that made it edible was their sauce that came with it which was amazing. Their pizza was great as well. The complimentary bread was my favorite but if you'd like more than it'll be $8 after. The cilantro fettuccine scampi was light whilst the basil pesto was creamy. I don't prefer protein in my pasta however on the create your own it would have been an additional $10 for protein which now makes that a $30 pasta. I truly had higher expectations for this restaurant . The service was truly great. We were a very large group on a Monday night. Our waiter was patient and helpful with the menu. I loved the interior on the restaurant. Clean and delicate! Restrooms were also very clean. As we sat at our table, we had complimentary bread, freshly out the oven with a side of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For starters, I had their house ceasar salad. Probably the only thing I really enjoyed. Very generous serving and what was amazing is that they served anchovies with it. Gotta watch out it is salty but nothing you can't handle. This is where things just didn't go as expected. The rack of lamb was served on bed of mushroom polenta. I had it cooked on medium well. Cooked nicely, but it was not seasoned well as for as the polenta. If not mistaken it had some seaweed crumbled on there also, didn't like it. The sauce reminded me a lot of a gravy which might be it was like a wine reduced sauce for the lamb. It helped the dish not be so dry. It lacked flavors overall. Roasted chicken also, it was cooked nicely with a bed of vegetables. Just not up there. . The service was there, food didn't take too long after putting the order in. Especially for a big group as that night. I think I would give it another try, see other food options of their menu. read more

Had the sea scallop risotto and while the scallops were cooked perfectly the risotto was disappointing. Just lacked flavor and development. Chicken parmigiana is more of a roll up with spinach and mushrooms. Not indicated in the menu so if you aren't a fan of those it's a surprise. The smoky, rich flavor and perfect texture made it one of the best appetizers I've had in a long time. For my entrée, I ordered the lamb shoulder ravioli. At first, I was worried it wouldn't be filling since there were only four pieces, but I was pleasantly surprised -- it was incredibly hearty and full of flavor. Each bite was tender, savory, and beautifully balanced. I paired it with one of their mules, which was refreshing and well-mixed. The drink menu overall is well done, and the service staff was friendly, attentive, and perfectly paced throughout the meal. I decided to try the Seafood Lasagna, even though I was a little unsure at first -- seafood and lasagna isn't something you see every day. But wow, it completely exceeded my expectations! The flavor was amazing -- rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced without being too heavy. It was so filling that I ended up taking about a quarter of it home (and honestly, it was just as good the next day!). For drinks, I had the Fizzy Pear and the seasonal martini -- both were delicious and beautifully made. Our server, Giancarlo, was warm, attentive, and made the evening even better with his kind and genuine service. Between the elegant atmosphere, excellent food, and great cocktails, Mia Bella's continues to be one of our favorite dinner spots at Vintage Park.
