We watched and supported that transition, so this visit felt especially disappointing. We arrived when the dining room was nearly empty, yet waited **over an hour** for our meals. After no update, I went to the kitchen and spoke to the server; only then did the manager come to our table. By that point we were already upset, and our food arrived **cold**. To make matters worse, the payment interaction felt uncomfortable: the server stood over us with the little card machine while we entered our tip, watching as we decided how much to leave. Between the long wait, lack of communication, cold dishes, and that pushy payment moment, the experience showed a dramatic decline in both service and food quality. The food was honestly bad, the service moved at a pace that made me wonder if time itself had slowed down, and the atmosphere felt like I accidentally walked into a retirement banquet. I'm not exaggerating...the average age in there had to be about 83. I guess the early bird special got all the senior citizens out there and asleep. On a Saturday night, the place was basically empty by 8:30pm. After eating there, I completely understand why. The French onion soup showed up looking promising, then immediately disappointed. Zero seasoning. No salt, no pepper, just... bland broth sadness. I ordered a T-bone steak, and I've genuinely seen bigger cuts at a grocery store. Not even a nice butcher, just your average supermarket. My steak was paper thin and butchered so poorly it looked like it went 12 rounds with Rocky Balboa. I paid an extra $5 for their "coffee seasoning," and I'm still trying to figure out if they forgot it or just waved it over the plate from across the kitchen. My wife ordered the surf and turf. $109 later, we got what might be the most overpriced plate I've ever seen: a tiny portion, two pieces of asparagus, and about a tablespoon of completely unseasoned mashed potatoes. The lobster tail? Cooked so long it should've come with a warning label. We left wondering how a steakhouse could miss this badly across the board. Save your money. Buy a steak from the grocery store. It'll be bigger, taste better, and you won't feel like you just funded a very slow, very bland experiment. read more

4.5 stars. Wonderful experience. An "old school" family owned steak house, that looks and feels so "leather and wood traditional", (in a good way). The service is prompt and friendly, and most of all, the food arrived piping hot. That in itself was great. Everything had very good flavor, and excellent texture. From the bread, to the meat, to the veggies, it was all crisp on the outside, and tender on the inside. In addition to the wonderful meal, the highlight of the evening was the key lime pie. It was a surprise birthday dessert, and neither of us believed we liked key lime pie until we tasted this. If we visit this area again in the near future we will, at a minimum, have cocktails (they were excellent), and more of the key lime pie. read more

Went here for a birthday, I got the 6oz filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. Also got the mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts for my side. The mashed potatoes were great; however the brussel sprouts were a little on the harder side. The service was fast and the ambiance was nice and cozy. Yes it was Houston Restaurant Week and yes they were busy, so what? We had reservations for two at 7:30. Got there at 7:15 and they told us our table MIGHT be ready in thirty minutes. "Maybe less, maybe more" they said. There was no place to wait inside so they sent us to the front porch where we waited 45 minutes in 90 degree temp. In the meantime we saw several couples go in and not come out, turns out they were being seated with later or no reservations. Oh but they did bring us water! We were finally seated, hot and sticky. The food was ok but somewhat sub par and overpriced. The employees were extremely friendly but the manager was a p@ick. It was very crowded and very loud. Overall NOT a good experience and we won't be back for quite a while if ever. Other than a very weak apology from the manager, and sincere apologies from the lady up front, there was zero attempt to make anything right. read more

I remember visiting this business all the way back when it was the original home of their Tex-Mex concept Alicia's. As a steakhouse they've done some nice work to change the concept to feel more mature and intimate with the lighting and decor. I'll say that it loses at little luster when you see wine boxes about and carpeted floors in a restaurant never win me over. We cycled through a couple of servers, which ranged from standard politeness to slightly cold in tone, but never rude. It's much easier to just park one waiter with us so we know who to look for when questions come up. We visited for a Pre-Christmas dinner with the in-laws and I think there was enough variety within the menu. We had a 2 yr old and a picky Gen Z'er and they were able to order comfortably, alongside myself as a foodie Millennial. The steak options seemed quite upscale, I ordered an Akaushi Ribeye that was cooked exactly to temp and was salted quite nicely. This was the standout for me, and much of the consensus of the table. Beef was good but sides lacked seasoning, mainly just being under salted. Overall I think they service the steak crowd well in an area that probably won't support a super high end steakhouse. Some improvements are possible, but I think the steaks themselves make the price worth it. read more

Extremely unprofessional behavior by the manager. My girlfriend and I made the mistake of dining here for our valentines dinner. When our check arrived, I used the QR code on the check to pay my bill on my phone. I tipped 60.00 and attached the screenshot of my receipt. I was also emailed a copy of my receipt and attached that as well. Clearly, I tipped. Shortly after leaving, the manager called me (I booked through OpenTable so they have my number) and accused me of not tipping. I offered to send him the screenshot of my receipt, but he declined and accused me again of not tipping. My girlfriend and I were taken back by this baseless accusation since he basically called us cheap. Since he could tell I was upset by this, he gave me a fake apology but still said his records show I didn't tip. When I offered to send proof again, he still said no. Such childish behavior from a "manager." If you decide to dine here, do not use the QR code on the check to pay or you will receive a call from the manager accusing you of not tipping. To the manager who refused to see proof of my tip, see attached. If you and your staff are not able to see a tip when a customer pays the way I did, you should change your system. Dario's has been our go to place for years. The atmosphere is comfortably cozy and upscale, with white tablecloths and black napkins. The friendly servers, dressed in tidy white dress shirt and black vests, typically greet you at the door and are more than eager to please you, while the manager may come by to visit or introduce himself. Dario's is under new management now (we'll miss Art!), and so far, continues to maintain consistently quality food and possibly pushing for even better service than before. Maybe it's because we're regulars, but we don't understand where these bad food & service reviews are coming from. The bar & drinks are still first class (thank you Brian!) and Dario's - HANDS DOWN - consistently serves the BEST sea bass anywhere (we've ordered it at many places)! We always enjoy the bacon wrapped scallops appetizer (understanding that sometimes suppliers cannot provide the bigger ones). Steaks we've ordered have been very good and desserts don't disappoint either - if you're into chocolate cake, the Tuxedo cake is our fav! Although the Key Lime Pie is right up there! We'll keep Dario's as one of our regular restaurants to visit. read more

We have been Dario's patrons for years. We normally opt to sit at the bar, have a cocktail or three and share an entre or order appetizers. The bar tended is always friendly and is very skilled at drink making. The TV is not the planned part of the entertainment, but more often than not there is something on that catches our eye and we end up watching. The bar is relatively small, and I think most are headed to the main dining area. We like the interaction of the locals. The food is amazing every time. There have been very few occasions where we could not hover holding a drink until two spots opened up (or three if our daughter shows up there too). The lighting is low like a wine bar and the music is subtle and welcoming. The wait staff are skilled at preparing your bar spot for a dinner experience, even while still enjoying the bar experience too. read more

Great steakhouse in Cypress. The service was great; everyone was friendly and everything on our order came out perfectly. It's a cozy place with bar seating and a more intimate dining room area that would be perfect for smallish group dinners / events. My favorite part about the place was that there were multiple delicious gluten free options that my wife, who is Celiac, could eat. My mother and I came during Houston Restaurant Weeks 2025-a three course menu for $55 per person. I was surprised by the size of this restaurant, it is somewhat on the smaller side. But we were seated quickly for our 5:30 PM reservation. I ordered the cucumber, cool summer drink, which is a new summer drink item for $13. Unfortunately, it did not look like the picture as it was missing the cucumber finishes. I just figured maybe they ran out of cucumber, IDK. But it was a nice refreshing drink, I don't think it was worth $13 though maybe $10. Nonetheless, I ordered as my first course the French onion soup, which was absolutely delicious, the cheese was my favorite part. The second course I got the red snapper, which had capers and one shrimp on top with a sauce, mashed potatoes and broccolini everything paired well together, it was so good! Lastly, I got the crème brûlée, which is a simple and classic dessert. It was on the warmer side, I prefer cold crème brûlée. Overall, our experience was good and positive, Jonathan was our server and he was great and had a nice smile. I also appreciated the checkout process, you can either pay by card or scan a QR code to pay Apple Pay. I went with several girlfriends for a holiday pre-game party. Apps and cocktails were the plan, but we ended up having the whole experience--and it was worth it. Our waiter, Bogart, was incredible. Well, it came out cold, they took it away and 10 min later the returned the nuked Prime Rib. From the minute they took the meal away to reheat it, it became a debbie downer. This week, I visited Dario's for the first time as the occasion was to celebrate Houston Restaurant Weeks with 2 friends for lunch. It wasn't too busy when we arrived so getting a table was easy. It's a nice looking restaurant inside with some outside seating also available and features a full bar. From the HRW menu, I chose the Boston salad followed by filet mignon tips for the main and then chocolate cake to finish all for $25. The salad arrived less than 10 minutes later and with the first bite I noticed it was served at room temperature and not cooler like normal. The salad tasted good and had more nuts like pecans than average. The salad was fine except for the temperature (3). The filet mignon tips were served over mashed potatoes with green beans. I liked the taste however some of the beef tips were chewy with some sinew while other tips were tender (3). Not your typical filet mignon experience. Finally the dark chocolate cake was rich, flavorful and delicious (5). The frosting was perfect. Loved it! Finally during the meal our waiter seemed to stay busy with a couple of other nearby tables but not very visible at ours. For some reason other restaurant staff took more care of us than he did. This included the manager on duty. The 3 of us agreed that we didn't feel the love as much as we would have liked. I was debating on whether this was a 3 or 4 star Yelp experience and could have gone either way. When my bill arrived I noticed a charge of $4.15 for the iced tea I ordered. $4.15 for iced tea? Seems a little excessive to me. $4 is too high to begin with and then why add another .15c??? That made my 3 star decision easy. Looking at their regular menu it appeared that many of their entrees are a little expensive especially for the area. I might return however with their prices I would want to be sure my experience was commensurate for what I paid for. read more

Came here for HRW lunch. 4.5/5 Experience and food were good. We enjoyed the bread we received. I had the pork chop which had good flavor. It was a little overdone but a lot of places seem to overcook pork. My aunt had the steak tips which isn't the prettiest dish but it was tasty. For appetizers we had the soup of the day which was a poblano corn and I had the short rib ravioli. The ravioli was delicious. A bit salty but delicious nonetheless. The soup I did not taste but my aunt enjoyed it. For dessert we had the key lime pie and crème brûlée and those were tasty. Service was slow but friendly. read more

I came here for restaurant week and I really enjoyed their menu. Their bread basket was phenomenal, there was white bread and cornbread that came out nice and warm with a side of whipped butter. For my first course I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp over lentils, it was delicious! I wish it came with more than two I inhaled it' My second course was the pork chop cooked medium with a demi glaze, a potato and a green bean side. It was good, so tender and a really good portion. I will have to say it was on the saltier side but still very good. The third course I ordered the strawberry cheesecake which was good, nothing special about it. I was able to taste a few other dishes like the wagyu meatball starter which was nice and tender. I think the fish was the best thing on the menu for restaurant week here the sauce paired so well and the fish was cooked to perfection. I would definitely come back here, they were a bit understaffed on a Wednesday afternoon which was pretty busy. The service was still very good, we were well taken care of by everyone. read more

We reserved a table at Dario's for our anniversary on Open Table & they didn't disappoint! The mood is old world American/Italian rich wood booths, glasswork lighting & deep rich colors with low amber lighting. From 3-7p M-F house wines and beers are half off. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops for appetizer, lobster bisque and the tomahawk steak. (Off menu and MP) Our server was no short of helpful. He was very informative on the menu of the day and we felt like he was attentive throughout the meal. Our dinner was at 4:30p and it wasn't too crowded. But noticed around the end it started filling up. For dessert, they gave a complimentary cake and made our night extra special making it a great experience for birthday or anniversary. When you're being charged $700+ dollars for a bill the expectation is that a restaurant can at least nail one of three things, food, service, or ambiance. Dario's misses on all three. P.S.They charge $6 per person to slice a cake if you bring one, regardless of party or cake size. Be wary of bringing large parties and make sure to track your own expenses. While wait staff may provide you with decent service throughout the meal, they won't hesitate to start becoming hostile over an unaccounted for water or side dish. To the staff: Work on your professionalism when dealing with customers, especially those hosting others. A little mindfulness goes a long way in enhancing your relationship with customers and everyone's dining experience as a whole. Fix at least 2/3 and the customers/tips will follow!! read more

I haven't sat at a table in the larger area in over 2 years. Last time I did, service was good though. Last two times I took a date and we sat in the bar area at a table and I was actually embarrassed at the service. I was on good behavior because I was on a date. I took my wife here for our anniversary. Overall it was a nice experience, very attentive staff, and nice atmosphere. The two things that were not to my liking were the knowledge of product and price point. Originally from New England I prefer cold water lobster, especially if I'm going to pay for a restaurant to make it. I asked the server and confirmed numerous times that it was cold water lobster and figured being my anniversary I would splurge and get the surf and turf special as I don't have cold water lobster very often. When the lobster tail came out it was orange and not red meaning it wasn't cold water lobster. The manager( I think, there were lots of people coming to our table, I guess because it was slow) asked if everything was okay and I explained that it wasn't cold water lobster and showed him the shell after explaining that I am not only from New England but also a food photographer and chef. The man insisted it was cold water lobster and proceeded to take the shell from the table. The second is price point. I understand that it is a more fine dining experience and chose this restaurant for that reason. My wife and I both ordered one of the specials, I had a coke and she had 1 glass of wine. After tip it was a $300 meal. Had it been cold water lobster and bigger than a 6 oz fillet I could justify the bill in theory. My first time in, Service as soon you get in they are courteous, we got no reservations but immediately we have a table. Service is amazing, not only from our server, all where there to please you. I order the chef's special, Chilean sea bass with sea food risotto, amaizing !!! and tasty, my husband order the Tuna Steak that was very good too. We were looking for something the whole family could sit down and enjoy; FOUND IT!!! I called in really quick to see if they had a table. Table was confirmed for my family, so we came right in. The host instantly recognized our table and sat us. We were able to order drinks, appetizers and our meal. It was all smooth we enjoyed our server. I think he recognized we were having quality family time and just played his role perfectly in that particular situation. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller, David's chicken, Shrimp scampi and the steak option. Everything was delicious, even the kid's meal options.
