I had really long hair that I was desperate to lop off since I was tired of it strangling me at night while I sleep. Fortunate for me, I saw a Groupon for this place and decided to try it out. $20 bucks for a wash, cut, dry wasn't too shabby and was a lot closer to me than my usual place in New Brunswick. I was running late for my 7:15 appointment, so I called the salon at about 7:10 saying that I was going to be there more like 7:30, receptionists says to hold so she can check with the stylist to see if she'll take me that late. Comes back and says that it's no problem. Moments later I get a call from the salon asking where I am, at that point I was maybe about 5 mins away and told them so. I'm not deducting any stars for this since it was totally my fault that I was late to my appointment. I just thought it was odd that she first said "no problem" then called moments later to find out my location. Got to the salon, everyone was nice, quick run through of what I wanted w/ the stylist Dina and I was off to wash my hair. Now, I must mention that I'm not a picky person when it comes to my hair. As I've said in previous reviews of salons, I'm pretty much a happy camper as long as I don't come out w/ a bowl cut. Hair wash was pretty standard, got back on the chair and Dina started cutting. During the consultation, I said that I wanted my hair about mid shoulder length to about the top of the shoulder blade (My hair was a little short of lower back length). What I ended up w/ was a shoulder length bob. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate my haircut, I just kinda of want it longer. Maybe it's my fault that I wasn't more specific about what I wanted. I was all over the place since I did want to make a drastic change to my hair and said as much but was too chicken poop to commit to short hair (which I also stated). Moral of the story, while I don't hate my hair cut, I don't absolutely love it either. I feel kind of androgynous with my new do. I don't feel the way I feel when I walk out of Bachi's salon. Luckily, it's just hair and it'll grow back. Oh I should also mention that this place has no affiliation with Remedi Spa which is right next door. It's a day spa with similar decor, but with no ties to the salon. read more

This salon is fabulous!!! They have always accommodated me when I called for an "ASAP" appointment. Sometimes I'm not able to get the regular girl that does my hair so I have to go to someone else... All the girls are consistent , with great technique , knowledgeable about their trade and most importantly they listen to what you want and execute it! Amanda is an amazing stylist, she has been doing my hair since I was a teenager her skill and talents enhance every year. I love it here. Everyone is so wonderful. I always leave feeling so beautiful. The entire staff is great & friendly. It's not your typical Staten Island salon where you feel like everyone is pretentious. Everyone is so sweet. It's so laid back and I feel welcome whenever I come for my appointments. Laura does my hair and she's great with cut and color. I like that she's honest and will suggest different styles to fit your face shape. She's so professional & great. Today was my first time visiting the salon. I found them on Instagram and saw that they had a package for first time clients to receive a conditioning treatment and blowout for $20. That's an amazing deal so I decided to give them a try. Amanda did my blowout. I warned her that my hair is very curly and told her that I wanted to minimize volume. She blew my hair out perfectly. Since my hair is so curly it is usually a challenge for stylists to get it sleek and smooth and I usually leave with a poof on top of my head with all my breakage and flyaways accentuated. I always leave every salon needing to go home and fix my hair the way I like it. However, Amanda did an amazing job and even kept my part exactly where I like it which for some reason is difficult for many stylists to do. I will continue to come to Amanda for my blowouts even if I can't keep getting that awesome package price because it is so worth it. read more

I was really impressed with how she was able to manage my niece's hair. I thought that it would be a difficult task because my niece has a problem sitting still for long periods of time but I was wrong. The staff was very professional and they made her feel at home. I almost do not want to tell you about Mia Passione salon simply because it will only make it harder for me and my spouse to get appointments :) I've tried 3 of the stylist and feel that two work best for me, yet, all of the stylists, here, are very friendly which makes for a very friendly vibe. They are always open to what I want but, also, suggesting new options - some I've tried and am really glad that I did as they keep me up-to-date and looking my best. Love going to Mia Passione because they are talented and really fun/kind stylists plus I always look great when I leave. They, also, really work with me when I need an emergency touch up! read more

I recently started getting my haircut at salon's instead of barber shops. Mia Passione has made me realize how I'll never go back to a traditional barbershop. All the ladies in there are very friendly and welcoming. From my experience, woman tend to be intimidated by men's haircuts - especially shorter cuts, like mine. I never waited in this place. While that might seem like a bad thing because it implies that the place is empty, that is not the case. Every time I go in, every girl is either busy or their client is getting washed. The assistants offer you coffee - regular, decafe, espresso, and even cappuccinos and lattes. That is a nice little touch. The place is also very clean and nicely decorated. Give this place a try if you are looking to change from a barbershop to a salon, you won't be disappointed. read more

I went to this salon twice. The first time i was disappointed because they did not do what i wanted at all, in addition to the fact that the girls/employees were all talking amongst themselves very loud. I dont expect them to not talk at all but they were completely disregarding the customers in their chairs..even stopping to order food in mid-hair cut. Im big on professionalism and these girls were not at all. They were all dressed like they were either going to the gym or hanging out on the weekend. The second time i went my stylist barely said 2 words to me! Not friendly at all. I had frizz on the top of my head after my blowout and i had to come home and re do my bangs myself because they were all messy. Most importantly, when i called for the price on the phone, the receptionist gave me one price. I made it clear that my hair was long and she still said it will be the same price. it annoys me to no end when salons make up prices on the spot after the service was done and your standing at the counter and theyre wispering about the price. i assume they would have experience in all legnths of hair and would be able to know a more exact price, especially if she has a consultation with you before hand. ill never go back here. it bothers me that i gave them my money and believe me, i am a business owner myself so i dont like leaving bad reviews. read more

Still going to Mia Passione Salon - this is a first for me. I am so pleased with my hair - cut and color every time. In fact, it just gets better and better. People comment on how healthy my hair looks now too. This is all because they care at Mia Passione. They never try to talk me into something that they know I don't want - my hair is long, yet, they tell me when I need to do something to make my hair better and healthier. Cut and color isn't their only focus. Ever since I got a hair cut and colored at Mia Passione, I have loved it. Although I have been going to the same stylist at this salon, whenever I do call at the last minute - if my stylist isn't available - they always fit me in with another. I have always been happy with the results. The stylists at Mia Passione really listen to what you want and, if you are clear, you will get exactly what you convey. Also, whenever you get your hair washed, the washer always asks what you prefer - I choose the head massage with mint, which feels great. I must say that there is one 'washer' at Mia Passione, who I want to book a 'washing' appointment with just so that she can massage my head more; that's how good it feels. You should know that before I found Mia Passione, I tried many salons in Manhattan as well as on Staten Island. Mia Passione told me that I am not picky but know what I want and am clear in explaining it. So, happy to have found this Mia Passione I get great hair without Manhattan prices and the atmosphere is very relaxing and friendly. read more
