The stylists really listen to you and help choose a style based on your outfit and event. Styling 5/5: my hair turned out great. I got a loose curl/beach wave look. I had hours until my event so my stylist made sure to make the curls tighter so they'd fall throughout the day and be loose for the event, rather than loose at the start and flat by the time of my event. Price 5/5: the price is so much better than you'll pay at dry bar or blowout Bar in the city. $30 for a blowout plus $10 tip, and I walked out in exactly 45 minutes after the full wash and blowout. This is so close to many towns in NJ, so it's the and best option for Jersey folk. I will be going here from now on! read more

def HAD to leave a review because I got a blowout (by Daniella, she's fantastic) on Saturday night and it's now Monday night. I took like 2 naps, slept 2 full nights and went 2 HIIT workouts without any touchups (just one application of dry shampoo last night) and my hair still looks PERFECT. soft to the touch, no hair spray, no extensions, etc. never had a blowout last this long or look this good. hiiiiighly recommend this place. read more

Never again... I made an appointment online a month before my event. When I got to the salon today I told them I am here to see Jeana, they said no I was not scheduled for her and I was seeing another stylist. The girl behind the desk apologized and when I asked her why someone didn't call me to tell me that Jeana is not available I got some stupid response. Well it turns out the girl giving the response was one of the owners. She clearly saw I was not happy and did nothing to help the sitiuation. She saw that I was struggling with the stylist that they pushed me off to and didn't even offer to jump in. After I left I called them to tell them how unhappy I was and the owner said well if you want you can come back and we can try and fix it. I already left and I was not going to embarrass the stylist (I'm not that type of person). Basically they just want to get you in the door and take your money. You make an appointment to see one person and they give you whoever is there. Not a way to do business. I paid $40 for a blowout that I had to redo at home. Very unprofessional.... read more

This salon seems to be a bunch of young girls who just got out of beauty school, and are now charging professional prices for mediocre execution. I came in one day to do a simple bun and was charged $80; meanwhile my hair is up to my shoulders. Kelly did my hair- she only shampoo'd, didn't even scrub, and did not condition my hair. She then started to blow dry my hair, and burned my head and stabbed me with Bobby pins countless times. If you look up their Instagram page, it seems as though all they know how to do is work a curling iron and blow dryer. Beyond dissatisfied, would never recommend. read more

If stars were based on the look/design of the place, they'd get 5/5 -- the talent? Not so much. I had a special event to attend and asked the girl to blow my hair out Dallas style (giant curls). To my surprise she never used the blow dryer (uhm????) She curled my hair using a curling wand, and I figured she was just using a different technique before the actual blowout. Unfortunately for me, all she did was curl my hair using the same wand I have at home. My hair (which is super easy to work with) fell before I walked out the door and into my car. It was ridiculous. If i wanted my hair curled I could have done it myself at home. I wanted a blow out, but apparently the girl doesn't know what that means. I even showed her a photo to no avail. Chic blowout bar has great stylists. They were my go-to for all my special events (bridal showers, bachelorette weekends, weddings etc). My sister and I have probably been there 12+ times in the past year. They were always affordable and the stylists are always friendly and skilled. Recently they have raised their prices for small adjustments. Last time My sister and I went there to get our hair styled, Dry styles are usually $20 but this time we were charged $30 each. My sisters style they said was $10 more because she asked for a small side braid. Mine was $10 more because my stylist had to go over my hair with a hair dryer. I informed the receptionist that my hair wasn't washed here and I came in with my hair dry. She said "it doesn't matter". I was very disappointed because I would have preferred to just get my hair washed and a regular blowout if it would've been the same price. My recent experience has made me start looking at other salons/ options. read more

This place is great! Went for the first time tonight and I will be back for sure. I had an event and made my appointment the night before. The girl on the phone was pleasant and let me know ahead of time that they are cash only but have an ATM if you need. When I got there five minutes early, I was brought to the sink right away. I showed my stylist a picture (kerrianne or kellyanne, I feel bad I can't remember exactly what her name was) and she delivered! I've been meaning to come try this place, and I'm so glad I finally did. I arrived 10 minutes before my 10am appointment, and because Daniela was available, she took me early (I'm sure this won't always be the case). As she washed my hair, I mentioned that it was my first time at Chic, and I wasn't sure what style I wanted. She pulled out her phone and let me scroll through photos, while describing which style was which. I have really long hair (and a lot of it), and was done in about 45 minutes. My hair looked AMAZING and she purposely gave me tighter curls so that the style lasts several days - which it did. Let's just say I already scheduled my next blow out - I can't wait to go back! Chic is the only place I will go when I need pretty curls for an event! Their prices are super reasonable and the staff is nothing but amazing. Kristen has done my hair on many occasions and she always does exactly what I ask for. I'm always receiving compliments every time she does my hair. Christina for makeup is absolutely amazing !! Ive been here multiple times now and every time i have loved my hair no matter who the stylist is. There is only one thing i have to complain about...they do not take credit cards, as it is cash only. I am a business owner myself, and there is a fee to use a credit card merchant so i get it, but you know what...you gotta do what u gotta do. Accomodate your customers. it is inconvenient. I use my debit and credit cards for everything and if i were to go here i have to make it a point to go to the ATM. If i have to pay the fees and taxes and i cant hide all my cash at my business then why should she. Not fair. I dont give places my business if they do not take credit cards. read more

I came here after only hearing awesome things. I had a big event to go to and I had to literally shower and re blow out my hair at home. I asked for big curls and showed a picture and I got waves that were way too tight and she didn't even blow my hair out all the way-my scalp was still wet. I'm not one to make a fuss in person but I figured I would warn people. I still payed for my service and left a gracious tip but the lady doing my hair also was rushing me, looking at another client going "is that mine?" I was a little hesitant not having an updo since it was going to be a long day and my hair does not usually hold curls well. I am so glad I came here! Very nice experience today. I have 3 kids (age 5 and under), my husband worked this morning, he got home late which made me pretty late to my appointment. The ladies were extremely accommodating, and managed to get my hair done at lightning speed in time for their next appointment. They did a great job. Got the MOST AMAZING Hollywood for a away from Kristen. My hair looked gorgeous and lasted all day and night! Kristen is extraordinarily talented and impeccable with her timing. I've been to this place about 4-5 times. The best stylist there to date was Patricia. She really took her time to make sure my hair lasted all day and night, and it did. I feel like they are friendly and they always make conversation. I'm not the kind of person that cares to talk or not so it doesn't bother me if the stylists talk amongst themselves. I had my wedding hair done here last year, it was me , 5 girls and two flower girls & they were awesome for that. Today I went in because it's my one year anniversary & I booked only a dry style for $20. I ran a couple minutes late due to traffic since the gothels was closed (but I called to let them know). The girl who I picked to do my hair, not sure where she was but a girl from behind the receptionist desk did my hair. I picked dry style and brought extensions as I usually do. The girl put my extensions in and said okay all done... why would I pay $20 for a dry style to just have extensions in. Mind you my hair was pin straight and I went with all the leg work done. I asked her if she could curl it as I was under the impression that was the game plan to begin with, but she never asked me how I wanted my hair. She curled my hair , however just did big chunks and basically only curled the extensions and not my hair to blend in. To top it off, they charged me $30 instead of the orginal $20. Very very disappointed. Maybe just me but seems the girls who were there last year aren't the same this year. read more

I'm a little upset after leaving this salon. I made an appointment for hair and make up after hearing nothing but great things...I was actually excited to try this place out. My make up was good, not great. I suggest doing your own eyebrows at home because the make up artist uses the same eyebrow color on everyone, blonde or brunette. As for my hair, I had to go home and fix my hair myself. First of all the stylist didn't even introduce herself so I couldn't give you her name if i tried. I asked her for loose beach waves (Maui style) and I ended up with tight curls that looked horrendous. Granted it was a Saturday, i'm sure she was preoccupied but if i'm paying 110 for hair and makeup i'm gonna want what I asked for. guys please do not go here it is the worst salon to give your money too on this island. i went there the other day for a blowout and i felt like i was walking into an all girl highschool. the girls are only friendly to eachother. my stylist didnt even introudce herself to me. they dont offer you anything to drink, nothing. barely any communication from them except when they want your 30$ for the blowout. which none the less i think is a little high in price most places are 15-25. i felt so uncomfortable there due to the un-friendlyness of these girls, and when they dont have clients there sitting there on their phones being obnoxious. also they obviously do not do to well due to the fact theres only 2 stylists there?? please ladies dont waste your time or money going here. i had to give it one star due to the fact that you cant put zero, because thats what they deserve. read more
