We paid $200 per person for these tiny tattoos that have strokes outside the lines and gaps of missing color inside. The store manager is running scams on tourists, overcharging and churning out crappy tattoos like a conveyor belt. I should preface this my saying i never write reviews but i am shocked at the lack of customer etiquette at this location. I was referred here my piercer in NY. I emailed and I called ahead of time to check what hours the piercer would be in as i didn't want to travel 40+ minutes. I spoke to her personally she said she would be in at until 8:30 pm and i didn't need to make an appointment as she would be in all day. Great! I got in a cab and traveled the 40 minutes arriving a little before 4 pm and was told the piercer went home for the day and no one could help me. Are you joking? MTC is clean, clean, clean, with all new equipment and a very well appointed waiting area. There are partitions for the different tattoo booths but they are not at all enclosed so be prepared for that. I have gotten two tattoos from this place now and overall all I am really happy with them. Mickey did both, and I highly recommend him. He is relaxed and easy to work with and takes your creative input well. This place is pricey, but so is every place on Miami Beach. If you want a cheap tattoo, looks elsewhere (like your buddy Larry who learned the trade in prison, got mostly cleaned up, and now works out of his van......down by the river). Big Tip! So you will talk with the receptionist/greeter/boss lady at the front first, then she will take you to meet your artist. He will say give me a few minutes to draw something up/sketch something out/whatever and then you will talk about the price of the piece with the boss lady. She will quote a price that will be really high. Don't take it. Act like you don't have the money, then suggest something much lower. Like half as much, then she will counter a little higher, and you will counter a little lower. You get the idea. But a little haggling will go a long way, so don't be afraid to go there. Let me start by saying that this review is directly linked to Felecia W.'s review of First Class Tattoo, located just across the street. Learned yesterday, that this and First Class have the same, eceptional owner. If you read Felecia W.'s review, you will understand how I ended up at Miami Tattoo Co. Both shops are impeccably clean, spacious, well kept, clean, nicely designed--did I mention CLEAN??? Anyhow, after Michelle (the rock star she is) from First Class helped me out, I ended up in Colby's chair at Miami Tattoo. It was just a touch-up and to go over some UV ink that I was worried would eventually fade. Colby, like Michelle, Ivan and Mickey, was a consummate professional. She examined my new ink to make sure I was healed enough to get some touch-up work done. She picked out awesome, identical colors to blend with the ink I already had. This was the first time a woman put a tattoo needle to my body--WOW, what a soft touch!!! Getting ink on the ribs is no fun thing, but Colby did an amazing job. She also took special care to notice that the portion of my skin that had blue ink did not take that particular color very well and she did an impeccable job of ensuring that she went over this area as gently as possible. He then proceeded to scream over the phone that I was not being too specific and continued to scream nonsense that did not relate to the tattoo. Our paths crossed, and we both have helped sex trafficking victims, so I figured the next time I was in Miami I would take the plunge and go through with it as if I was to do this I wanted her shop to do it. AWESOME EXPERIENCE I sketched my idea, Guillermo was patient and kind as he created and modified it a zilllion times on his computer. When I finally approved it he got to work. Initial the tattoo was only suppose to be $100. After my friend was finished and I was dead set on getting my tat the price magically jumped $20. This has got to be the cleanest tattoo shop I've seen in a while. Some shops may look clean but they just have a dingy feel to them. This is not the case for the Miami Tattoo Co. This was my second time here. I came here 2 years ago to get my nipple pierced and my experience was nothing shy of amazing. My piercing artis (yes I claim her as mine) is Jane. She is known as Gentle Jane. She is very gentle, she knows all there is to know about piercing any part of your body. She answered all 10,000 of my questions. This time around I got my nose pierced. I had it done in college and the pain hurt like hell. I ended up taking the piercing out b/c I came home and back then my parents would have had a cow if I came home with a nose ring. I decided I wanted it again so when I booked my trip to Miami I knew Jane would do it for me. I went to the shop with no appointment and she was able to pierce me as soon as I walked in. She explained everything she would be doing, step-by-step. She showed me the tools she would be using and what each one was for. The piercing hurt a little as my nose is a little thick but once it was in it didn't hurt and the pain was nowhere near as bad as I remembered from college. The price for the piercing was around the range I thought it would be. I was thinking it would cost me $60-$65 and it was $70. Some people are under the assumption that getting pierced in a city like Miami is costly but it is about the same as the average in any other city. Long story short. . .if you are in Miami and considering getting pierced and thinking about going to The Miami Tattoo Company, ask for Jane!!! She is THE best. read more

It's been a long time since I got a tattoo. Almost two years. But I met one of the employees from this shop while out with my friend, and he seemed really nice, and was very professional (even though we actually met in a bar). My boyfriend and I went in to see the shop. It was very nice and clean, and even smelled really nice. We asked for him (Mickey), but the woman at the counter said he wasn't in that day. She showed us a different persons tattoo book and said we could make an appointment to see this other guy because he wasn't there either... hmm.. We wanted to see the first guy! In any case, we asked the woman about pricing and she told us that portrait work starts at $900. W H A T? Yes, NINE HUNDRED to start! Now just let me tell you guys that although it's been a while since I got a tattoo doesn't mean the price has gone up a million percent... please. After we told her that was just too much to spend, she asked us what we were "willing to spend"... Now I'm just getting really mad at her! I told her that the guy I spoke with had told us that a small portrait of my baby may cost around $350-$400. She said that the employees there have no right to quote prices because she is the one who makes the prices, and that $900 is what portraits are going for these days... So we left. I hope that this woman has a painful period this month. :) And that whoever the owner of the shop is will realize he just lost two more customers! You can't just tell people "NO" now a days! I would recommend this shop to anyone with a lot of money, just for the sake that it looks nice, and it's a place you can easily spend a lot of money! I found out about this place from a fellow lyft passenger. I swear it was like a sign from the universe because she had just gotten a tattoo done. And it looked amazing. So I went to get my Christina from Bridg. She was so comforting. She cleaned me up and I was twiching from the sensation thinking it would be the worse piercing ever. It wasn't. Isprofdownyou'llyou'llyou'll, see I have so many piercings, I'm experienced. With that said, after cleaning the area to be ready for the Christina, she told me she wouldn't do it as a surprise. She told me what to do. I breathe in and out and while I was breathing out she did it. It felt like an ear piercing down there. Best part: it barely stung after. Its been a week, and after the first day the swelling went down. Howevee the following day, it was (to my experience) perfect. There has been no discoloration, nor swelling, or pain. The owner came and rushed us through stencil process and it made me really uncomfortable. I wasn't happy with the stencil but the fact that nick didn't get the stencil right the first 10 times wasn't my fault. Raising the price of my tattoo from 350 to 550 because we took two hours working on the stencil was really fucked up considering that all I asked for was the outline of a symmetrical bird on my chest. It's simple. I wish I had walked out at that moment. Now I have a giant fucked up tattoo across my chest and I will forever. I hate it. I really deeply regret getting a tattoo at this shop. I only gave this review two stars because the place was well-decorated and clean, and it looked like there really were some great artists in there. But that's where the positives of my experience ended. First of all, I made an appointment for a Friday and had to change it because of a work conflict. When I called, the woman who answered sounded absolutely clueless, and when I explained I wanted a consultation, not a full tattoo on the day I wanted to go in, she put her manager on the phone. He was condescending and proceeded to inform me that consultations aren't "in and out" and I need to make the appropriate amount of time. All of this I knew, I was just explaining that I didn't need a 3-hour time block, which is what she was trying to schedule. But I'm a pushover, so I rescheduled anyway and went the next week. When I got in, the shop was empty except for the tattoo artists, which I found a bit odd. I met up with my artist who had obviously not been told any of the details I had provided over the phone when I made my appointment. Instead of drawing anything out for me, even a rough sketch, he photoshopped a photo onto a picture of my thigh and added some other photos as background, so I really couldn't tell what it would look like translated to ink. He had earphones in the entire time and when I asked to see his previous work, he gave me an Instagram handle, not a portfolio. With just a photoshopped picture in mind, he gave me an hour quote, and called the boss over for a price quote. The boss said that he would need more hours than he told me (Excuse me? Shouldn't the artist know how much time HE takes???) and then gave me an unsettling price. This was not me wanting to be cheap and not pay enough for a tattoo, this price was an absolute SCAM. They were taking advantage of the fact that I'm young, it was my first tattoo, and it was just me and my mom (who had her tats covered up that day). We left upset because we wasted so much time driving to Miami Beach. I got my tattoo done for 1/6 of the price and in half the time (for a larger tattoo) by an amazing artist. The quality is beautiful and my artist was attentive. I'm only saying all of this because if I had been alone without a tattooed family to tell me what to expect in pricing, I might have thought they were fair, but they weren't. This place was fantastic, and Colby was my awesome artist! This was my very first tattoo, and none of the artists tried to talk me into or out of anything, which I really appreciated. They listened to what my husband and I wanted, then created gorgeous designs that were exactly what we asked for (better even). The store was clean and inviting, the employees were friendly and professional, and we will definitely go see them again the next time we're in Miami! When I show off my rose, everyone comments how pretty it is, and how well Colby did her lines. The shading is also very well done and I couldn't be more pleased. Miami Tattoo Co. is by far one of the best shops in the city. There are lots of places with good artists, but you won't find a cleaner shop with nicer equipment anywhere else. The way I see it, if you're going to be sticking needles in my arm a couple thousand times, I want your equipment to be clean and top of the line. Of course, the artists at MTC are insanely good too. I always get my work done with Gaston, the owner. I agree with the previous guy's statement about their prices being on the higher end of the scale, but I don't think they're unreasonable. You also get what you pay for. I had tattoo done for $100 at Ocho Placas and the guy did a horrible job. It was a simple tattoo of a shape with all straight lines...a novice could have done it, yet one of their "pros" still managed to mess it up. In fact, I had to take it to MTC to get it fixed! I have gotten 3 tats with MTC (not counting the OP one they fixed for me). They've always done a great job and the price has been reasonable. If you want a $100 tat then, yes, look elsewhere. If you want a tat that you'll love and be proud to show off then go to Miami Tattoo Co. I don't know about you, but when I'm shopping around for artwork that will be on my body FOREVER, I don't want the cheapest, I want the best. That's what Miami Tattoo Co. is. read more

First of all, I wonder how this place had only 8 reviews so far, most of them very good though which I'm not surprised. If I had only taken into account the amount of reviews I would have gone somewhere else; I'm glad I didn't. My husband was about to get his first tattoo done, so we really wanted to find a very good place. We visited two other before arriving to Miami Tattoo Co. {one of them being the 'famous one' a couple of blocks away which I thought was not nice or clean at all...and they offered the tattoo we wanted done by any artist...Which I personally don't agree. Every artist has his/ her style and you should look for one that does what you're looking for}. Having said that, we were lucky enough to meet Jon Mateu, a brilliant artist who understood perfectly what my husband wanted and performed as expected and more. May 2011, while on a visit in Miami I was looking for a very professional tattoo shop. I came across the shop after visiting a few. What attracted me here is how nice the shop is in the inside. & Everyone was VERY nice and frienclly. I had a horrible tattoo on my chest that I desperately wanted covered. The price was fair. I wasn't able to get it done at that time b/c my tattoo was still healing. I came back to Philadelphia, and the tattoo shops I went to the artists were pretty rude and very costly! I decided to wait all the way until this year to come back to miami tattoo company b/c of how nice they were to me the original time. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE GOES A LONG WAY. When I came back the staff was still very nice. It started off a lil rocky though. The guy at the front desk never gave the pics of my tattoo to any of the artists, so when I came back two days later for my appt things were a little unorganzied. Also I wanded up paying about a $100 more then the price I was giving a year ago, but I wasn't too concerned about that. Now for the good part. I got it done 7/8/12. My tattoo artist was JUSTIN. He was absolutely amazing!!! I am very grateful that he was there when I came in, because he knows his stuff. He is VERY CREATIVE and TALENTED. It didn't take him hardly no time to free hand a tattoo on me. My previous tattoo was no easy tattoo to cover, especially b/c it was on my chest and I am a small built woman. I cannot say enough great things about my experience here. My friend and I visited 5 shops on the same street, as we were first timers for getting a tattoo and of course we had questions. Miami Tattoo was our 4th stop and after #5- which is where we originally planned to end up- we immediately returned. Katie waa awesome- made us feel so at home and patiently answered all our questions. She also took the time to ask about our ideas and helped us decide which artist would do well with our design ideas. Katie had us email her our ideas and then the artists each designed our own original creation. Came back for our appointments 2 days later. The artists showed us the designs and we worked together to meet our specifications. Archangel did an amazing job and I am thrilled to have his artwork on my body. The experience was much less painful Than I anticipated, basically I winced a few times in more sensitive areas. I had no redness, no swelling, no irritation, no scabbing, nothing from the day of to any days after.
