Last week was my son's birthday week, and Mia's made it so special. I originally ordered from Mia's because the cake was so delicious, but this time I was just as impressed by their customer service. I ordered cupcakes for my son's school celebration and a cake for his party, and everything was wonderful. The kids especially loved the Oreo cupcakes, and the caramel cupcakes were also a big hit. The party cake was also delicious, and the cream and fruit were so fresh. At first, I was trying to order a custom cake within a limited budget, and the staff were so honest and helpful. They helped me realize that a tres leches cake with decorative candles would be a better choice, and I'm so glad they did. What stood out most was how kind and helpful the staff were. I had a lot of last-minute changes because of the weather forecast. I even tried to cancel the night before, then called again the next morning when we decided to go ahead with the party after all. Everyone I spoke with was incredibly patient, honest, and helpful, and the cake was delivered right on time. (actually a little early, which helped so much.) We live in Park Slope, so Mia's is not the closest bakery for us, but it is absolutely worth it. I really appreciate how kind everyone was, and I'll gladly recommend Mia's to others. read more

Definitely would not recommend. I ordered my wedding cake a few weeks ago and it was very poorly made. It was leaning when it got to the venue, clearly not made even. It was embarrassing to display ... I got blueberry lemon and it was yummy but the appearance was awful so much so, that I did not take any special pictures on the wedding day with the cake. read more

So this cute little bakery is in cobble hill Brooklyn. I purchased two items, a chocolate almond croissant and a fruit napoleon with different fresh berries. There is some confusion as to where you are supposed to stand when you walk in. No one gave me direction and I stood in the wrong place for a while before I got served. That's something they should definitely work on. Now the pastries. I was excited for the chocolate almond croissant but it disappointed me. There wasn't a proper marriage between the two flavors. One side of the croissant had almond filling and the other side had chocolate. With a chocolate almond croissant, you want to taste both the almond and the chocolate together, so it should've been layered and not separated, So I didn't like it. The Napoleon on the other hand was absolutely delicious. I will definitely go back for more when I want my Napoleon fix. They have a lot of cakes and treats and desserts at this bakery so if you're in the area, give them a try and pick up a nice treat. I plan to try some other things as well. read more

Mias was perfect for a quick visit to escape the rain for about an hour. The aroma of pies and other warm baked goods filled the air and the seating area was nice and cozy. I had a chai latte with oat milk and my cousin had a hot apple cider. Both very tasty and comforting. The server was kind and helpful. On the way out I ordered some cupcakes at the counter. I ordered a strawberry banana, Nutella, chocolate chocolate and salted caramel. I'll admit the ones I tried weren't my favorite...the Nutella was pretty good but the strawberry had an interesting chemical aftertaste that my friend and I both didn't like much. If you've had Juniors cheesecake to compare, the rich texture of this cheesecake is very similar but the flavor of Mia's is a little tangier. I had also picked out a peanut butter bar to go, but the man at the register called it a vegan peanut butter, which was not indicated by the sign in the display case. Good Brooklyn bakery with plenty of options. For my visit, I was on the hunt for a Brooklyn Blackout which Mia's was known for having one of the best in the city. There seemingly was an endless display of options to consider but I strayed only slightly in ordering cupcakes as well to my Brooklyn Blackout cake. Given my focus on the Brooklyn Blackout, it is unfortunate that I have to say it doesn't rival the best. It certainly looked promising but this Brooklyn Blackout Cake was way too dense and most importantly, dry. It seems I am in the minority on this, perhaps I got a bad cake batch or one that was sitting around too long. It's so crazy that this place is open so late! We stopped by around 10pm and it was still fully stocked and the seating area was packed. I thought it was just going to be a bakery where you pick up your cake and leave, but it was a whole restaurant in the back. We got the orange cake, tiramisu, and a few italian cookies. A good bakery option in the downtown Brooklyn area with similar vibes as Venieros but smaller. It sells all kinds of desserts ranging from cheesecakes to regular cakes and assortment of cookies. The cupcakes were good but I can't say they beat my favorite which is Mollys in the west village. The cheesecake had an interesting floral aftertaste. The 7 layer cake was good too but not the best. So many delicious baked goods and a large indoor space to gather, as well as an outdoor back patio (closed in the winter). Loved that they had multiple vegan pastries and baked goods too (as well as some gluten free). I came in with a big running group and the staff was very accommodating in getting everyone their coffees and baked goods, and they came around to us offering water as well. Super kind! The cake layers were moist with medium density, and the cream cheese icing was airy and not too sweet. I also ordered chocolate chip cookies. From the outside it will appear to be closed because it's so dark until you walk inside. As soon you walk in you will be greeted by the host and offered a place to sit or directed to the line for a to go order. When my friends told me that we needed to go to a bakery after our dinner, I was shocked that there would even be such a place that was open late-night. Nothing could have prepared me for the massive display cases and variety of pastries on offer at Mia's. Wow! They had everything from banana pudding to cookies to layer cakes, and each thing was available in single portions. It was sheer heaven for anyone with a sweet tooth. Beyond the tantalizing, glass-enclosed treats were loads of tables where you could sit and satisfy your cravings. We were able to get a table on a busy Friday evening and each ordered both a warm beverage and a pastry. My friends insisted that the Brooklyn Blackout Cake was by far their favorite item, so I decided to indulge in a slice. I am a huge chocolate fan and have had my fair share of chocolate cakes, but this was, by far, one of the best I had ever had! The gigantic slice included 3 layers of delicate chocolate cake, with 2 dividing layers of creamy chocolate custard/pudding, all covered with a rich fudge frosting and chocolate cake crumbs. It was unreal! In fact, I wound up eating most of the piece and only taking a small section home with me, but, yet, it did not leave me feeling too full or on a sugar high; it somehow felt light. I paired my cake with a Decaf Almond Milk Cappuccino, which was creamy, well-balanced, and simply excellent! I adored my experience at the charming, crowded, trendy, late-night bakery with its over-the-top amount of decadent concoctions. What a waste of my money and time. We went on a Sunday so parking was not so bad. I went with my kids to try out a new bakery as we are always on the hunt for new pastures and desserts. The service was quick and courteous. The items are all very overpriced but considering its location we still gave it the benefit of the doubt; and to be fair I'm willing to pay up if it's worth it. Unfortunately for almost $5 a cupcake - they were all horrible; the frosting on all of them were too buttery and really detracted from the cupcakes taste. And the cupcake itself ranged from ok to ugh not worth it at all. The only decent one was the salted caramel and that's also without eating the frosting. I love napoleans and was excited to see they had regular and fruit versions of them - however at $8 a pop - what a disappointment; I took a bite and ended up throwing it out. The layers were not flakey at all and the custard was not up to par. And so it goes without saying that their fruit tart was a total miss for myself and my kids as again the custard was eh. I came here to grab their Chocolate mousse cake for a birthday party and it was a big hit! Fair warning: it's rich and a bit on the sweet side but that's how most non-Asian bakery cakes are. Nonetheless, it was perfectly moist and chocolatey. I put some leftover slices in the freezer and they ended up tasting even better! Gave them more of a cheesecake-like texture. Each item was delicately prepared and they do have sit down. It would've been a 15 minute wait for seats and about 15 mins for carry out. All coffees, teas and lattes. You start at the end of the display case and it makes it hard to keep your same choice. We got so many things that I highly recommend. The apple cheesecake is BETTER than Juniors. Real words. Fruit tart with the perfectly thick crust so it does not get soggy. Soft ginger molasses cookie that has crunchy edge. The Key Lime Pie is better than key lime we had in key west!! They were all delicious but my favorite was definitely the chocolate layer cake!!! It's not as sweet as you would think it to be and it's the perfect size to share if you're looking for a post dinner sweet treat. I couldn't recommend this place enough.
