Daughter took us here for a late Fathers Day dinner. I can honestly say that Italian food is not my first choice, but our meal tonight was fabulous! I had the lobster ravioli, my husband had the lasagna and my daughter had pesto pasta. My husband said his lasagna was the best he's had in a long time and the lobster ravioli was just incredible. The garlic bread brought back memories of visiting this restaurant as a kid with my parents (that was a very LONG time ago). It's the same recipe I remember my dad loving! (I did ask if it was the same recipe...an it is!!!). We were seated on the bar side and found the decor to be eclectic, tasteful and definitely conversation starters. My wife had the Thursday special of lasagna and a salad. The large chilled salad included mozzarella cheese slices, pepperoni slices, olives, green preppers, and cherry tomatoes. It came mixed with traditional Italian dressing. The lasagna tasted very good. I had the braised beef ravioli, 6 pieces, covered with a delicious whitish cream sauce. I'm visiting family in town and called in an order just to pick up this amazing garlic bread. They were just opening so it wasn't crowded yet. They had some folks in the outside tables they were bringing drinks to and a water bowl for their dogs. I love this downtown Waukesha area. Mia's sold a few years ago and I'm super happy the garlic bread remained. Looks like they did an update inside and it's just cozy in there. I've eaten at Mia's a few times now, and my experiences have been hit or miss. The angel hair spaghetti I ordered recently was extremely watery more like spaghetti soup than a proper pasta dish. It was missing a lot of flavor, mostly just tasted acidic It's hard to explain. One of the reasons I ordered it was because it came with their famous garlic bread (my toddler loves garlic bread), but unfortunately the bread was so hard that neither of us could bite into it. In the past, I've ordered the hot beef sandwich and the first time it was absolutely amazing, but the second time it didn't live up to that same standard. I know every place can have off days, but the inconsistency has been disappointing. I really hope things improve. read more

Some of the worst service I have ever gotten in a restaurant. If I were you I would not chose this restaurant for any reason.

Went here for Valentine's Day and will not be going back. Garlic bread had no flavor, lasagna was worse than and had less flavor than a microwaved Stouffer's lasagna, marghetita pizza had no flavor and was smothered in only tomatoes, service was slow, and everything was way overpriced. I hope it's a fluke but I wont be coming back here to find out. read more

Went to Mia's the food was very good. But the water and the soda were horrible. I had a pepsi and could not drink it, the waitress acted like she had never heard that before and offered to get me another. The second one tasting exactly the same so I asked if I could get either bottled water or canned soda which she said was not available. Needless to say, I couldn't eat much with nothing to drink. I have asked others to which I have been told they have noticed the same. If they are having a problem with their drinks they should at least be able to offer bottled or canned. Atmosphere was cute very clean restaurant excellent service but the food??? My lasagna tasted like canned chef boyardee. The meat in it was not normal if you could find any meat. Totally taste like canned food it was the worst I've ever had in my 60 years on this Earth. We have been going to this restaurant for over a year and a half. Food was good and service was decent. I took my family there on 10/7/2023 and food and service was terrible. The owner waited on our table. It took forever to get our food. I had to ask for silverware, plates, napkins, and drink refills. You can't take every customer that walks in the door if you don't have the staff to provide good service! It seems that the owner is only concerned about profits and not customers. We will not go back! You need to hire people that know how to take care of customers or your doors won't stay open! read more

Clearly the new owners do not care at all about customer service. I've been lied to on two different occasions about when my order would be ready for carry out. One time I waited two hours and the other 90 minutes when both times they said 45 minutes over the phone. Never again will I patronize but I will let many know about the horrid wait times. read more

Be prepared for large portions and a ton of garlic bread! Every dinner comes with a healthy portion of buttery amazing garlic bread but it's easy to fill up on! You don't want to miss out on the great Tuesday specials: large pizza and salad for $25 and half price wine! Salad portions are also crazy large, easy to share! The Caesar is my favorite dressing flavor there! Speaking of large portions the pasta is HUGE if you can finish one of these after eating garlic bread and salad, your crazy! Alfredo is my go to pasta and Mias did not disappoint. The reason for the three stars is the atmosphere isn't great there, I feel like it's always empty when I am there. We were so excited to try Mia's restaurant, only to experience the worst service by (our waitress Megan) that I've ever had at an Italian restaurant:( I wish there were positive take always from this experience, but alas there are non . The careless untimely manner our drinks were brought and never refilled and the mediocre cold food ... makes me sadly say- please don't bother visiting this establishment. My husband orders the tortellini (good Alfredo sauce ) and I had the "good fellas" special which I DO NOT RECOMMEND! As much as I tried to give this place a chance, I truly cannot go back again. The first time I went was with a small group of girls from work. We enjoyed the food and array of food items, but our server left much to be desired. He almost completely ignored us the whole time, only stopping by to refill drinks with a snarky attitude. I figured maybe he had a bad day, or was new, or that there was some other reason. I go again with my kids a few months later... found hair in our food. Our waitress was nicer than the guy we had previously. Despite very few tables, she also barely checked on us. She was kinder though, and much more attentive. The hair conundrum did not result well, with the pizza that had hair still being charged to my card. And last, but certainly not least, this past Saturday. A group of friends was in town, and we were planning on going to Mias - not my choice, but maybe (MAYBE) the third times the charm! Nope, wrong again. My group of 11 was told that despite our reservation we had made, they were unable to seat us. They were not taking any orders. On a Saturday!? Unreal. For a group of 11 to find somewhere else to eat on a Saturday night WITHOUT a reservation is simply bewildering. I will not return again. They are unreliable, and have an ever-changing list of problems they seem to rotate between. Also, management did not put any care into any of these unfortunate events. I hope they seriously consider restaffing, or maybe have HR teach them a thing or two about manners. read more

Garlic bread was a bowl of very large stiff bricks that were hard to even get your mouth around let alone bite. I had the Manicotti which tasted ok but was mushy and drowning in super heated meat sauce. The decor is dark and dreary and looks like it hasn't been updated in at least 40 years. I been coming here since I was little. 45 or more years faithfully. It's always been my favorite pizza place to go. Staff and atmosphere always just perfect. Sandy took over from Mama Mias to Mias and kept the perfect pizza and garlic bread. Nothing changed. Sandy was an amazing host and we always looked forward to coming to Mias and seeing to him there. A few months ago, my husband noticed the records on the wall were gone and replaced with posters. Didn't think too much until our meal came out. Then we just though it was maybe a one off night. We went again last Thursday evening. Staff was so super slow motion. Staff were arguing with each other in the bar area, Garlic bread (which was epic in the past) was late and cold. Prices were increased. Others around us were complaining. We waited over an hour for a pizza that came out cold, burned and sausage was not the usual quality. The staff (which was all new staff) was apologetic for their lack of service, but also seemed like they just really did not care. Had no sense of urgency. Restaurant was only a quarter full. Realize maybe they had short staff... possibly, but we don't plan to come back. It was a waste of money and time. Sandy did such an amazing job keeping Mama Mias legacy alive in Waukesha. Staff always welcoming and always on top of it. It's no longer a place we want to go unfortunately, end of a good era and a shame. There are other places that are better and that care about food quality and customer service. Congratulations on your retirement Sandy, and thank you for keeping it going all those years.
