Been ordering from Capri for over 25 years. Never had any problems until about 4 month's ago. Tonight we ordered lasagna & Garlic bread. The Garlic bread was coated with salt, not Garlic butter(all three pcs) we could not eat it. We have medical problems. The lasagna has changed and has a very different flavor, but it was just OK. My daughter also had problems with the lasagna a few weeks ago and I thought it was a one time thing, but I guess not. I ordered from them after getting a bad pizza, they gave me a gift card. Three stars might be a bit generous. Service and server was fantastic. Pizza, not so much so. We ordered the Stallis with the Milwaukee crust. Waitress said the crust is a thin crust, nice and crispy that breaks apart when you pick it up. No where near crispy, Hard and cardboard like as if they bought them mass produced. Sauce was thick and tasted like tomato paste straight from the can. We have had this pizza before and it was much different and much tastier. It was Friday night and I had to take an unexpected trip to the ER with my mom. During her visit that ended up being in excess of six hours, my husband and I needed to run out and have some dinner before heading back to the ER. Capri di Nuovo is 3 minutes from Aurora and provided a much needed oasis in our otherwise bleak Friday evening. We were able to sit on their charmingly lit planter lined patio. We began the evening with whiskey old fashioneds made the Wisconsin style. They were great. For our dinner, I got their individual sized Italian cobb salad which was small but mighty. It was bursting with freshness and flavor. My dining companion got their lasagna with ricotta, which was huge. I had a couple bites and it was all cheesy deliciousness. One note: it came with two serving spoons and is definitely meant to feed 2-3 people (we didn't know and he ordered as his entree!). I also got a side of garlic bread and a small side of one piece, came with two large pieces. They were a bit hard/crunchy for my taste but the flavor was great. My mom randomly came into town and she wanted Italian--I've read good reviews and went once with girlfriends so I picked here. Because it was just us two, I'm glad I did :) It was a Tuesday and we waited around 45 minutes. I don't know if this is the norm due to the smaller amount of seating or if it was because the Tuesday special are "kids eat free" and "buy one get one half off lasagna". With just my mom, this was fine! But if with a group or kids, the wait with minimal wait space could have been tricky. Speaking of the entrance and wait space--there is a counter that is for pick-up; I love this (lots of people coming in for their take-out)! But once they clarify that, no one ever directed you to go check in at the bar; I think this would be helpful for those who aren't regulars. I found myself directing others to the bar so they didn't waste time waiting and wondering what they do lol Once we were seated, we ordered right away and I loved our server; he was really kind and came to check on us the perfect amount of times. We got a Salad for Two (Caesar--I swear they make homemade dressing? It was good) and lasagna. The lasagna was nice and hot, the sauce was sweet, and the garlic bread was full of garlic (personally, I love this). I have had two meals of leftovers since. I made a 6:00 reservation for 12 people on a Sunday night. We were seated outside, inside the not-so-new white tent, which was outfitted with a loud space heater, wrought iron patio furniture, and a door that didn't close all the way. While I was told they weren't short staffed, our service was extremely slow. One of our guests had to order a glass of wine 3 times before he finally got it. It also took about 45 minutes to receive our dinners, and when they arrived, much of them were not up to the standards I'd read about. The garlic bread was overcooked and oily, a Chicago style pizza was not hot all the way through, an Italian Beef sandwich was tough, a Carbonara sauce began curdling half way through the meal and a shrimp scampi was "not the best I've had." Calling Capri di Nuovo at 6:20 on a Tuesday during winter, I was surprised at a 40 minute wait since I had not heard of the place prior. We understood once we started eating. The inside isn't huge, mostly 13 tables of four. They somewhat recently renovated, hence the "di Nuovo." It still exuded traditional Italian. They also have a tent outside with tables. Our server had a fun personality and was patient with our indecisiveness. I recommend the sampler platter for first time visitors; it came with the following: 2 wings. The garlic ones were very good but not a ton of meat. The regular wings app comes with 10 wings. The price is probably worth it if you like wings. 5 thick eggplant fries- They were good. Obviously it tastes like eggplant. 2 stuffed mushrooms also good 2 motterella sticks. These wonton fried cheese sticks were not great, chewy. And thick cheese. Garlic bread huge portion. Addicting and not overly cheesy. Spinach artichoke would order again. Not too oily. Doesn't taste fake or frozen like many restaurants. Entrees tried: Capri salad Good size even for 2. Excellent tasting. The Italian Dressing also very good. Chicken Alfredo chicago pizza. Very filling. Good not a ton of chicken per cheese. A little soupy. Still good reheated Classic Lasagna is pretty good. The cover and bake the top with cheese. The insides primilary consisted of a traditional red sauce, noodles, and meat. It is not full of herbs or ricotta, although you can buy ricotta for $2. It doesn't need the ricotta, it's that tasty. BOGOHO on Tuesdays. Comes with garlic bread. Stallis pizza also good. Capri is old-school, hand-made pasta, and local West Allis Italian joint. The garlic bread is as big as head and so deliciously buttery. This time, we shared one large piece of bread & enjoyed the others at home. The ambiance is small, cute, and quaint. A handy take-out desk is in front for those times you want take-out. There were a lot of orders going out the door. We did call ahead and put our name on the waiting list. It was early on a Friday night and they already had a 35 minute wait, but they do not have a lot of seating. My chicken Marcela was delicious, home made sauce. My sons lasagna was good and hot. He did order the adult large portion and had two more meals out of the full dish. The plates were large and prices acceptable for the portions. The service was on point. Capri di Nuovo: In 1972 Capri opened in West Allis, WI and served locals for 40 years before shutting its doors in 2012. In 2014 the restaurant re-opened with new owners and a new name, which translates to Capri Again. Pizza is easily my favorite cheat meal and Capri di Nuovo (CDN) has been recommended to me multiple times. Being the pizza snob that I am, I've been putting it off as I had already found what I believed to be the best pizza in Milwaukee. Here's the thing though, my favorite pizza joint doesn't offer Alfredo sauce on pizza and CDN does. For my first visit I went with my favorite type of pizza: pan style crust, plain cheese, and Alfredo sauce. My ideal crust is thick and chewy, which isn't quite what CDN serves. Their pan style crust was kind of thin on the bottom and although it's plenty high at the periphery of the pie/back of the slice, I still wouldn't call it thick. What I found unique about it was the texture, which was super crisp, like a cracker. The flavor of the crust was yeasty and the texture somewhat dry. Overall the crust was alright even though I wouldn't call it my favorite. Where the pizza really excelled was the generous portions of cheese and creamy Alfredo sauce. Topping things off was a delicious seasoning that had hints of garlic. This is the best alfredo sauce topped pizza I've had in a long time and is easily Doughboy approved. I recently saw a social media post about Capri's Pazzi Stix, which are giant wonton mozzarella sticks with garlic butter inside. Clearly these were added to their menu to compete with the giant Italian breaded mozzarella sticks from nearby Alphonso's the Original. Always interested in trying bizarre things, these were right up my alley so I place an order for some as well as taking a frozen sausage pizza to go. The biggest problem with the Pazzi Stix is the wrap is more like the thin kind you'd find on a Chinese spring roll, not the thicker wrap that you'd find on an egg roll. The garlic butter makes the bottom of the sticks very wet and the whole thing just falls apart easily. I got about two or three bites in and had a hard time picking it up after that. I like the idea, but not the execution and I much prefer the giant breaded sticks from Alphonso's. Capri has excellent frozen pizzas to go. I'd gladly pay a couple more dollars for theirs than most kinds you could get in a store. I only get the sausage pizza when I stop, so I'm not sure about all the different kinds they might have beyond sausage, pepperoni, and plain cheese. read more

We were looking for a new spot to try for date night on Friday and my sister recommended Capri do Nuovo and we're so glad she did! We walked in and there was a small wait (the inside of the restaurant isnt too big) but we were able to grab some old fashioneds at the bar and go sit out by the electric fireplace under their covered patio which was so nice with a chill in the air. Before a table was ready they offered us two seats at the bar which we happily took. Our bartender and server were both super sweet and provided great service. It seemed everyone was really happy and enjoyed working here which you don't see as much these days! For food we started with an appetizer sampler that had wings, eggplant fries, mozzarella sticks, stuffed mushrooms, garlic bread and spinach and artichoke dip. It was a really heavy dish but we knew what we were getting ourselves into. By the time our food came we were pretty much stuffed but still had a few bites of our dishes before boxing them up. We shared the Classic Lasagna and Creamy Pesto Pasta with breaded chicken - both were very good. A couple at the bar next to us got the fish fry and it looked amazing - we can't wait to come back to try it.
