Their veggie pizza on cracker crust. There's a crust under there somewhere.

If you're looking for a really great, retro pizza parlor experience, Capri di Nuovo is that place. We went there for a Saturday lunch and were transported back in time to the family-owned pizza places I fondly remembered frequenting in my home town. We were especially happy with our server, Nathan, with his knowledge of the menu and unique ability to keep my soft drink glass topped up without my asking. I ordered their pan pizza (12 inch) and there was enough there to feed three or maybe four people. I thought our waiter had made a mistake and gave us extra cheese but he assured me the mound of mozzarella was the normal amount. The excellent cheese complimented the sauce and fresh toppings buried under the cheese. Our friends had the cracker crust veggie and had a similar experience, but with less cheese. Plenty, but not as much as the pie crust pizza. The one negative I could find was that it was a bit dark in the dining room for food photography, hehe. A great place for pizza!

It was Friday night and I had to take an unexpected trip to the ER with my mom. During her visit that ended up being in excess of six hours, my husband and I needed to run out and have some dinner before heading back to the ER. Capri di Nuovo is 3 minutes from Aurora and provided a much needed oasis in our otherwise bleak Friday evening. We were able to sit on their charmingly lit planter lined patio. We began the evening with whiskey old fashioneds made the Wisconsin style. They were great. For our dinner, I got their individual sized Italian cobb salad which was small but mighty. It was bursting with freshness and flavor. My dining companion got their lasagna with ricotta, which was huge. I had a couple bites and it was all cheesy deliciousness. One note: it came with two serving spoons and is definitely meant to feed 2-3 people (we didn't know and he ordered as his entree!). I also got a side of garlic bread and a small side of one piece, came with two large pieces. They were a bit hard/crunchy for my taste but the flavor was great. The service was attentive and kind and the prices are incredibly reasonable. Get to it!

My cousins and I wanted to get pizza. The vibe of Capri was very traditional which is hard to find in pizza restaurants. I will say this is on my list of pizza places in Wisconsin now. The service was pretty good. And the pizza was really tasty. I like the green olives on the vegetarian pizza! I will have to try it again!

My mom randomly came into town and she wanted Italian--I've read good reviews and went once with girlfriends so I picked here. Because it was just us two, I'm glad I did :) It was a Tuesday and we waited around 45 minutes. I don't know if this is the norm due to the smaller amount of seating or if it was because the Tuesday special are "kids eat free" and "buy one get one half off lasagna". With just my mom, this was fine! But if with a group or kids, the wait with minimal wait space could have been tricky. Speaking of the entrance and wait space--there is a counter that is for pick-up; I love this (lots of people coming in for their take-out)! But once they clarify that, no one ever directed you to go check in at the bar; I think this would be helpful for those who aren't regulars. I found myself directing others to the bar so they didn't waste time waiting and wondering what they do lol Once we were seated, we ordered right away and I loved our server; he was really kind and came to check on us the perfect amount of times. We got a Salad for Two (Caesar--I swear they make homemade dressing? It was good) and lasagna. The lasagna was nice and hot, the sauce was sweet, and the garlic bread was full of garlic (personally, I love this). I have had two meals of leftovers since. If you've got time just in case the wait is a bit longer, you should go! Just know you go actually check in if other patrons are crowding the entrance ;)

I made a 6:00 reservation for 12 people on a Sunday night. We were seated outside, inside the not-so-new white tent, which was outfitted with a loud space heater, wrought iron patio furniture, and a door that didn't close all the way. While I was told they weren't short staffed, our service was extremely slow. One of our guests had to order a glass of wine 3 times before he finally got it. It also took about 45 minutes to receive our dinners, and when they arrived, much of them were not up to the standards I'd read about. The garlic bread was overcooked and oily, a Chicago style pizza was not hot all the way through, an Italian Beef sandwich was tough, a Carbonara sauce began curdling half way through the meal and a shrimp scampi was "not the best I've had." It's possible they were just having an off night, but a one-time visit was enough for me.

Great dinner. We will be back!!

Shout out to Capri di Nuovo, which has a relaxed, "locals" vibe. Andy, the manager, was friendly, knowledgeable & accommodating of dietary restrictions. Our registered & certified therapy dog was welcomed with open arms. The food was delicious, especially the garlic bread. Portions were generous. Nathan, our server, was amazing. We will be back! Anyone who has food allergies knows how hard it can be to dine out. Both Andy & Nathan took this VERY seriously. I felt heard, understood, & safe. Capri has earned my trust & our return business!

Calling Capri di Nuovo at 6:20 on a Tuesday during winter, I was surprised at a 40 minute wait since I had not heard of the place prior. We understood once we started eating. The inside isn't huge, mostly 13 tables of four. They somewhat recently renovated, hence the "di Nuovo." It still exuded traditional Italian. They also have a tent outside with tables. Our server had a fun personality and was patient with our indecisiveness. I recommend the sampler platter for first time visitors; it came with the following: 2 wings. The garlic ones were very good but not a ton of meat. The regular wings app comes with 10 wings. The price is probably worth it if you like wings. 5 thick eggplant fries- They were good. Obviously it tastes like eggplant. 2 stuffed mushrooms also good 2 motterella sticks. These wonton fried cheese sticks were not great, chewy. And thick cheese. Garlic bread huge portion. Addicting and not overly cheesy. Spinach artichoke would order again. Not too oily. Doesn't taste fake or frozen like many restaurants. Entrees tried: Capri salad Good size even for 2. Excellent tasting. The Italian Dressing also very good. Chicken Alfredo chicago pizza. Very filling. Good not a ton of chicken per cheese. A little soupy. Still good reheated Classic Lasagna is pretty good. The cover and bake the top with cheese. The insides primilary consisted of a traditional red sauce, noodles, and meat. It is not full of herbs or ricotta, although you can buy ricotta for $2. It doesn't need the ricotta, it's that tasty. BOGOHO on Tuesdays. Comes with garlic bread. Stallis pizza also good. The thin crust was crisp, not burnt or limp. They have a variety of deals throughout the week.

Capri is old-school, hand-made pasta, and local West Allis Italian joint. The garlic bread is as big as head and so deliciously buttery. This time, we shared one large piece of bread & enjoyed the others at home. The ambiance is small, cute, and quaint. A handy take-out desk is in front for those times you want take-out. There were a lot of orders going out the door. We did call ahead and put our name on the waiting list. It was early on a Friday night and they already had a 35 minute wait, but they do not have a lot of seating. My chicken Marcela was delicious, home made sauce. My sons lasagna was good and hot. He did order the adult large portion and had two more meals out of the full dish. The plates were large and prices acceptable for the portions. The service was on point. We have been twice now and we will be back again.

It's actually shocking I've only just made it here because Ca'Lucchenzo has been on my to-go list for years. Lucky for me, my girlfriends planned a dinner to catch up and one of them chose this spot. Hot tip: make the reservation. Those go fassst! We went on the Tuesday night and it was full, with repeated table turnover. Delightful atmosphere. Very cozy, with warm tones, dimer lighting, and thoughtfully curated Italian'esque decor. Loved that there is a whole area where you can look onto the from-scratch pasta being made. However, that's over in the dining room and we actually sat on the bar side. There's maybe a dozen seats wrapped around their full-service bar, and then a small high-top tucked behind, where we sat. Our server, Malichai, new allllll of his stuff. When I tell you this menu is so clearly planned with immense detail, and changes pretty much daily, but this man knew every thing there was to know. We found that to be so helpful because as first timers it's hard to know what - and how many dishes - to choose. In the end, we landed on a handful of picks from the antipasti section, which we're all great shareable sizes. And then of course we needed pasta, so selected two of those to share as well. Can I recall what each dish was? No. Can I recall everything being extremely flavorful and enjoyable? Absolutely! From goat cheese and white asparagus, to creamy potato ravioli and the most insane/delicious focaccia of my life... we all noted how great every bite was. Oh and the drinks + dessert selection lived up to the hype too. I had a citrusy gin cocktail, and we finished with some sort of hazelnut chocolate cake. 10/10. Super duper excited to bring my husband here. He appreciates the craft of good food and boy that is what this place is alllll about.

That was fine ( I don't mind being near people) but the chairs were a bit too close and made me feel like I had to shrink myself and hold my arms in. The server was pleasant as well. Soft-spoken, polite man, which fit the overall relaxed but friendly atmosphere. The only thing I noticed was that he spoke in a bit of a rush, but it was a busy night so I'm more lenient. For food, I started off with the goat cheese crostone, which was fantastic. 5/5 warm, soft, fluffy bread with a great goat cheese and Calabrian honey spread that had both a nice complexity of flavors while not being too overpowering despite the sweetness of the honey and the savoryiness of the goat cheese. Everything balanced out wonderfully. Unfortunately, the main pasta dish I ordered, the Herb Maccaronara, was very bland and one dimensional, which was a shame because I was really looking forward to a bright and refreshing flavor considering how the restaurant seemed to pride itself in the localness of its vegetables. Whatever they used, it was blended and pureed with the sauce, and I couldn't really discern anything except for a faint earthiness. Not much pepper. Not much salt. I normally appreciate it when restaurants want to let the ingredients and naturalness speak for itself, yet I found myself regrettably disappointed by the combinations they chose for this dish, as it didn't highlight or elevated their respective elements. The maccaronara pasta itself was fine, a chewier version compared to other types, but would've benefitted from having something more crisp as an accompaniment to pair with the chewy texture. The dish did have peas in it but sadly it must've been softened by the sauce or noddles because it tasted mushy. Overall the main highlight was the sausage which added a brief touch of well-needed savoriness. The final dish I ordered was an affogato that came with chocolate ice cream and a shot of espresso. A nice cool way to end the meal, although I wish I'd the choice for vanilla instead. All this to say that I believe three stars is a fair scoring for my visit. I really would like to visit again, and Ca'Lucchenzo does rotate their menu often so perhaps their next batch will be better than the current one.

Hostess could not find our reservation, but after some time claimed to have found it and attempted to seat me at a table for two - I had to correct her, and I was then seated at a table by the window - the draftiness was significant and distracting on a cold evening. We were offered a small basket of bread with a small plate of olive oil with a blob of what appeared to be roasted garlic. Our party ordered the lamb shank, the lasagna, and I ordered the Carbonara-our waiter exclaimed how that was an 'excellent choice and his favourite item on the menu. I expected a bowl of hot fettuccine with a thick, flavorful, creamy cheese sauce, but what I got was a bowl of lukewarm pasta at best. The 'sauce' was runny and lacked flavour - it resembled milk. There was no salt or pepper on the table, nor was any Parmesan cheese offered to help improve the flavor of the sauce. No additional bread was offered. We ordered Creme Brulee for dessert. It too was NOT hot, the sugar topping was burnt, and what should have been a firm vanilla custard was also runny - and had almost a curdled appearance. Again, outside of burnt sugar, there was no flavour. Our server was nice enough, but the food was so lackluster I can't recommend Ill Mitto. I will have to think long and hard before attempting to dine there again.
