After a year of talks and tests, he persuaded me to have my prostate surgically removed. A year and a half after the surgery, my frequent-urination problem had not improved. His only advice was to have patience; sometimes bladders took a "long time" to "settle down" after a surgery. I consulted my family-practice physician. He figured out that the frequent-urination problem was not caused by something with my bladder or prostate. It was caused by high blood-sugar (diabetes). After I changed my diet and started taking diabetic medicine, my urination problem went away. How is it possible that after years of medical school, and more years of being a practical urologist, Dr. Ruff was unable to imagine an alternative explanation for an old man's frequent-urination problem other than that it was caused by a malfunctioning bladder/prostate? I can only think of two possible explanations. Either he is deeply stupid, or does not care about the welfare of his patients. My advice: stay away from him.

He prefers to have discussions not in the exam room when you're wearing an ill-fitting thin gown, but in his comfortable office, where you're fully-clothed and feel like a grownup. He is calm and understanding. His office staff is also awfully nice. The hospital recommended this doctor to me and after having dealt with him, I understand why.

No consistency and no personable experience can be had when they're constantly changing physicians. Andrew was definitely the diamond in the rough, so I plan to insist on seeing him from now on or I'll start looking to their competitors. Only thing left to address is their booking staff and the inconsiderate and thoughtless practices. I made a complaint months ago and nobody has addressed it with me yet how they can justify rescheduling my appointment without my consent. I've been coming here for over ten years on and off and it's just gotten so much worse. Dr Mobley heard my situation for less than five minutes and said "if it's not bothering you don't worry about it" and rushed off as I tried to say it was bothering me. Saw dr Jones and again less than five minutes, just wrote a prescription that I didn't even need and finally ordered some test. Then I see his nurse practitioner to go over the notes and she to time with me but she made a suggestion that previous doctors told me would be bad for me and kept going on about it even after I said it was a bad idea and I've already done it. We had to wait for more results. She was supposed to call me with the final results. Two weeks later and I got a call from someone else telling me to make a telehealth appointment. I've already seen three doctors there, paid all my bills, was told I'd receive a call with results. This place really doesn't have its ish together. I decided to look up the owners and it seems it's private equity. I really feel that the doctors are being forced to burn and churn.

I just hung up with someone in billing about an incorrect bill (I promise I wasn't rude or mad at her) and felt compelled to genuinely ask her, "Are you mad at me? What's going on?", because of the way she was speaking to me. They're frustrating, unprofessional, and honestly just pretty bad at their jobs.

If you need to talk to a nurse the crappy third party can only take a message. You better pray it's not an immediate need because these people will not get back to you for up to a week. We usually have to call again and leave a message again. The time to get to talk to a nurse takes around two weeks. If you miss the call you will not be transferred back to a nurse either. This insane process will start all over. This problem has been notated not only by us for two years with the nurses, Dr. Maloney, the office manager but also on yelp with other patients since 2014. The second problem is the portal. What a worthless, useless unreliable piece of garbage. It doesn't work. We have relayed for two years that it doesn't work. We have told the nurses, the front office staff, the office manager and Dr. Maloney to no resolution. We have been lied to by one of the many office managers who said "it's a new program and we are working the bugs out."I called the two office managers who told me this out and let them know that wasn't true because literally on yelp the same problem with the same exact statement was given to multiple patients over the course of years and I know this because it was recorded as a complaint on yelp since 2014 and even back then the old office manager back then was lying to patients. Third, Urology Austin goes through office managers like water through a faucet. I don't know why but I've overheard office staff commenting about this fact. Thirdly; Dr. Malone doesn't address root causes. He treats symptoms, doesn't answer questions, rushes through your appointment, and if you request more testing, you're ignored. He gloats that he does three surgeries a week. That seems highly excessive. Why is he not solving the problem of why certain conditions are existing to begin with? He also never remembers patients. We don't expect to have a close relationship but after two years and you're still introducing yourself as if it's the first time meeting us, then this doctor should be examined for dementia. Fourthly, front office staff. There one woman in particular. We tried the formal complaint process to no avail. She has her cell phone at the cr desk and plays music on it. Cell phones record everything regardless of whether the record button is on or not. This HIPPA violation was never addressed by the office manager. I was refused information and paperwork to file a formal HIPPA complaint. Fifth; I complained that the third party was asking medical questions. This is a HIPPA. Violation. Again, I was ignored when I requested to file a formal complaint in writing. This area is devoI'd of urologists. This company is taking advantage of this fact and not doing its sworn duty to care for the patient. This is a corporation and they treat the patient like an assembly line.

Some doctors are just so harried they don't take the time to really let you explain what's happening or how you feel. It really does make the difference. We forget how important it is for a doctor to relate to his patients. I've seen doctors who have been cold, indifferent, uninterested in anything except performing an examination or treating whatever was wrong at the time. Sure, that's fine, but it's the bare minimum; it doesn't set me at ease. When I'm sick, and I'm concerned, Dr. Kravitz demonstrates a level of empathy I've yet to see in another doctor. It also helps he has a sense of humor! Even if he does not accept my insurance, I would only want to have him as my primary care physician. He gave us maybe 5 mins to just say yes, it's cancer, and scheduled a scope 2 weeks later. we asked for more time to talk about the news and were told that Dr Yang was too busy. FYI a scope can be done in 10 mins in office to look in the bladder. of course we switched urologist. bladder/prostate was removed in March 2023. kinda feel like if this was caught earlier, he could have saved the bladder. now hubby wears a pee bag for the rest of his life. 11 hr surgery to recover from.
