Absolutely not; we don't have that kind of money, and certainly not for something like this. We purchased two new units for our home. I will say that the first floor is cooling and heating fine (although our crawl space is 60 degrees in the summer, so maybe not very effective). The second floor unit cost us a fortune and has never run properly. We started on this journey in March because our a/c unit had leaked into our bedroom the previous summer and we wanted to take care of it before the busy season. We were told that the unit was near the end of its life and we agreed that a new unit would be acceptable if it would stop the leak. Also, it is dual zone and my husband's office did not cool well. It's a complicated system and we swallowed the steep $11k estimate and were looking forward to better performance. Fast forward to delivery day. The unit that was brought would not work with our dual zone. They had to bring a different unit (which they claimed was better). We had at least 8-10 different installers in and out of our house because they couldn't get it to work. When they finally got the unit to work, they then couldn't get the thermostat in my husband's office to work. Called in more guys. They tried to get the system in the app on my phone--never worked. They said maybe give it time (never worked). When temperatures rose and we switched to a/c there was no a/c in my husband's office. They came out and gave us a $5k estimate for more work (because I had so much faith in them ?!?!). Hubby got a window unit. When it really heated up it started leaking through the dry wall that we had repaired. They came out again. We were given an estimate for another different repair (also $5k). That would be an addition $10k after the initial $11k (plus the downstairs unit). How much were they trying to bleed us for. We had another company come and do some duct work repair for $200. Leak is gone. Our second floor does not cool as well as it did with our original unit. It's currently 77 degrees with it set to 70. My husband's office with the window unit is 82. I wish that we never replaced the unit because we were better off before! read more

Requested an annual inspection of my a/c unit prior to the hot weather arrives. Joan Santana was our technician. He's been assigned to us in the past and remembered us. He is super friendly and extremely well trained concerning a/c needs. He cleaned our system, inside and out. Took photos of all the duct work and showed me some funk in the PVC. Purchased cleansing tablets for Joan to drop into the piping to help the flow of condensation that occurs. Also pointed out a solenoid that was worn and needed replacing. Since I purchased the annual maintenance package, the part needed was at a discounted price. Joan returned the next day and had it replaced. I have peace of mind with the a/c and am prepared and ready to use it confidently. Thank you M&S's. Awesome employees! read more

I have the Michael and Son gold plan for my house. My A/C was working great M&S did routine maintenance. Hours after M&S completed inspection a fatal communication error occurred, unit stopped working. M&S refused to come back and correct saying best available time is in a few weeks. Why M&S gold plan? My opinion M&S take your money and only advantage is when you call thanks for being a loyal gold member And if they do come to your house for routine inspection it is all about what extra can they recommend. M&S are not loyal to their customers. I have now go to another A/C company to fix M/C poor work. read more

They came out to troubleshoot a non working hvac system that they installed 1.5 years ago after a 4 day delay in appointment in 90+ degree weather. I have used this service at least once a year for the past 6+ years. Their service is pricey but the agents are usually knowledgeable and respectful. So why the low rating? Well there have been two visits that were unsatisfactory in a major way. Both were for servicing my furnaces ( I have two). The first one they said I needed a part, they were ordering it and would come back to fix the furnace. They NEVER came back and every call over the course of 2 years never got anything other than "we will leave a message" for someone whose title sounded more official. They never fixed it to this day. Why did I continue with them? They are easier to get appointments with that don't put you several weeks out and the services for my generator have gone great even when a part was needed. Fast forward to yesterday. I had a tech come just for my tune up ( I usually do winter and summer to make sure I'm ready for the season changes). They look at the furnaces to see if everything is good and they vacuum things out. It is a good price for that service. Yesterday, my adult daughter was home for the tech visit ( I was home but in a class). The tech let my daughter know that he accidentally dislodged the wire to inducer motor and shorted out the control board. He stated that the furnace was still heating but the blower would be on continuously. He said he would be back the next day to fix it once he ordered the part. The house was still warm and seemingly putting out heat at that time. During the night, ai noticed it got colder. At 5:50am, I went to check the thermostat at it read 55 degrees! I immediately went to turn it up and saw that it was set for our usual 72 degrees. THE FURNACE IS NOW BROKEN! I call Micheal and Sons at 6:00am and talked to an agent who has started the "I will send a message" speech. I am not ok! My furnace was working fine and now we are not a priority to fix what they broke. I will begin calling every hour to try and speak with one of those "gonna make it right" supervisors that I have never spoken to. If they keep their word and come fix what they broke today, I will post to relay that. For now, I am freezingly disgruntled!... UPDATE After 4 calls and 3 transfers, I finally was allowed to speak with a supervisor! He finally understood that I was not complaining that the tech accidentally broke a part but that I needed him to know that the furnace would only blow cold air ( tech thought it would keep warming the house). I needed him to know it was now urgent and they finally got it! The same tech ( who was always polite) returned with the part and was able to set things back in order! The thermostat read 61 inside the house at 3:00 in the afternoon when we entered. So I increased their stars by one. Not a reflection on the tech but on the persons who take the calls. The tech gets 5 stars for his honesty and follow through. read more

Nique arrived on time for the HVAC maintenance service. After friendly greetings, he quickly started checking the system explaining what he would be checking/testing. It didn't take long considering the unit is less than a year old and installed by M & S. Nique moved to the outside unit and performed the inspection. Came back, explained what he did, and made one suggestion....a covering to keep leaves and other "stuff" out of the unit. Very nice young man! read more

Called their scheduling department yesterday morning and the scheduling service was great, they asked plenty of questions to ensure service accuracy and they were able to schedule me that evening. TJ (Timothy) came out and was able to break down their services and processes clear and concise. My ejector pump failed and he had one ready to go. Although I wasn't prepared for the cost he informed me of their 0% financing for 12 months and that helped out considerably. Would definitely use Michael & Son again. read more

Is Michael & Son the least expensive option you can select? Probably not! But when I do have an issue, these are the folks I call first. Why? They are responsive and punctual. This past week I had a toilet misbehave badly. At first, I thought it was just clogged. They didn't have something for the same day but had them scheduled for the first thing the next morning. When my wife returned from work, she identified a more serious issue, so I called them back and they sent out someone that same evening. He fixed the clog part, but said there was water damage, so next came the guy to access the damage, followed by the team that began the remediation process. Although each and every one of the team members were excellent and deserve a tip of the hat, Marcus and Carleton were the guys that bore the brunt of their effort. These guys, as well as all of the others involved in the process, are incredible examples of what a team should be about when delivering services. My AC was not working and they were able to come out the fastest of all the companies I called. I was told that I need a new compressor along with potentially a few other components. My system is only 2 years old so the parts would be under warranty, but the labor was going to cost me between 3k-5k. I got a second opinion and all of those components are perfectly fine, but the unit is a little low on 410a. The second tech found where Michael and Sons had tampered with my condenser unit in order to get the failed readings on their equipment. UPDATE: Customer Service reached out to me to let me know they would refund the $89 diagnostic fee if I would delete this review. read more
