They lack the most basic considerations and accountability as business owners to their customers. By far, horrible communication and lack of management skills demonstrated not just once but, on several occasions, and levels. Stay far away from them as your situation could end up similar to mine, since they don't really care about their customers!!!! We spent over $13,000 on custom furniture and two in stock items for various rooms in our house. Michael told us the bedroom set would take 8 weeks. I called the manufacturer, was told production was running 12 weeks plus 2 to 4 weeks for delivery. Michael had to know this when we ordered! We had the two in stock items delivered, a sofa and a recliner. The sofa three seat cushions were of varying firmness, Michael agreed to replace them. Michael ignored my requests for updates. 10 weeks after we purchased the sofa, the seat cushion replacements arrived. Good customer service would take cushions from stock in their warehouse to resolve this faster. The bedroom set, along with two cocktail tables and one side table were delivered. The finish on one table was incorrect as per our order and delivery was refused. Our bed frame of the bedroom set is not on the truck, paperwork has the item yellowed out. Never got a call from the store owners to apologize or discuss what's next. I texted Michael, said he would call me the next day - did not happen. I left a VM on his phone, still no response. A few days later he contacted me after I suggested that we cancel our order. Michael said that the manufacturers of both furniture pieces were working to replace the items and would take care of them immediately (whatever that meant). 6 weeks later, the (new) replacement footboard the headboard, and two side rails were delivered. The bed except for the (replaced) footboard are not the same color as the rest of the bedroom furniture set. I sent pictures to Michael, 2 weeks later I called for a status, he mentioned that the manufacturer would like a drawer from the nightstand to ensure a color match. I rushed the drawer over to his store the same day. He originally told me that he could pick it up the next week when they deliver a different piece of furniture. Well, I am glad I dropped the drawer off since the other delivery wasn't for another 3 weeks. Bed delivered, after waiting 11 weeks for the headboard and two side rails that are the correct color and the nightstand drawer, in total 9 months since order date! read more

DO NOT purchase anything from this store, as the owner LIED to our credit card company about a cancelled order. The order was cancelled twice in talking with salesman Scott, once on the phone, once in person. When the owner called for the delivery date, he was told the order was cancelled. He said that salesman Scott didn't have the authority to cancel the order. They kept the entire bill on the credit card and LIED to the dispute dept. Michael said the order was a "SPECIAL ORDER" and was not cancelable ( LIE ) He also said the order was on their truck to be delivered ( LIE ) he was told personally that the order was cancelled the week before. He never supplied the credit card company with a refused delivery order. He sent a copy of the bill of sale, but beware, on every order form there is the statement that all sales are final. This is their catch if a dispute arises. Long story short, stay away from people like this. There are more reputable furniture places out there not out there to rob you. This dirtbag wanted to charge a delivery fee ( we received nothing ) and a 25% restock fee for an item cancelled a week before. read more

Unbelievable customer service!!! Michael has a lot of furniture in a small space but, take your time and ask. I was looking for a couch with a return in a certain size. Michael showed me a Kincaid catalog that had couches in all sizes with or without returns. I was able to custom order for size of the couch as well as the fabric and color. I also ordered an ottoman to match. My new couch was delivered today by professional movers. Which was awesome as they were taking away my old set. so no damage to walls!!! Michael just called to make sure I was happy and everything went well! Imagine that!! I highly recommend this furniture store. He is unethical, dishonest, and he has absolutely no regard for the customer, only their money, I purchased a couch and chair. And at the time of purchase, he asked me if I wanted to purchase a 3 year furniture warranty. I said I wasn't sure and that I'd think about it. He put in on the receipt, charged me for it, and right when I took the receipt and wrote "To be determined by customer at a later time" I heard a gasp in the air! It was at that point that I should have torn up all of the paperwork and left. I had been tired and just wanted to get it done though, so that's on me. Purchased my sons furniture from here last year (2011), a Broyhill set. It was a few days late, no big deal as I was still painting his room. This year we purchased my daughters set, a Legacy Classic set. We were approved for financing for 12 months no interest. They said the set would take about 2 1/2 weeks, which today is that day. I called and they said it hadn't arrived and would call the manufacturer and call me back. Now, I know this stuff is shipped from the Carolina's, so I'm not holding them to the exact day. However, I should be kept in the loop. Now, the part that's the kicker: I found the exact set and Raymour & Flaniggan. They wanted $800 MORE for the same set. I'm not going into a review of R&F, however, that's ridiculous. After getting my price from Michael, I told him he was $800 cheaper and he stated certain pieces he carries he can sell less the R&F, and some pieces he sells higher, depends on how often he does business with them. Makes sense and that's fair. I'm glad we chose to go here again. How could you be upset at saving $800.00? If anything changes with me not being in the loop of the delivery date, I will re-post. **Update 2/23/13*** Called on Thur, 2/14 for an update. Was told the manufacturer was out of stock on a few items (really?) and it wouldn't be shipping until 2/15 or 2/19 because of the holiday, and should be here by 2/22 the latest. Here we are, 2/23 and was not told it wouldn't be here until late next week. This happened when we ordered my sons furniture and the MAIN reason I went back is because he was $800 cheaper and I'd rather spend my money at a mom & pop business. **Update 2/27/13** Received the bedroom set today and couldn't be happier. My daughter LOVES her big girl bed. The pieces all arrived with no damage and assembled on site by the delivery men. He wanted to know about my experience after reading this review. I explained to him my gripe with the order was mainly with the shipping/delivery date. He kindly explained to me that they have really no control over when the manufacturer ships the merchandise and the date provided is just an estimate. I proceeded to explain that I was aware of this but that my issue was no follow up phone call about the expected delay. He agreed and stated he understood my opinion. I stated to him that at the end of the day, my wife and I were extremely happy with the price and the furniture itself. I informed him I would definitely come back in the future. The whole phone call lasted approximately 15 minutes. So, with that said, I decided to edit my review for the following reasons: -I get the whole delay thing. Even though this was MY order and I was waiting on the delivery, I get the business aspect where they probably have dozens of orders going on simultaneously. To call vendors each day on the whereabouts of merchandise is probably next to impossible. -The fact that Michael took the time to call me about this review tells me a few things: He cares about his business. Two, he takes the time to investigate what others are reviewing about his business. Three, he cares enough to call a reviewer to make things right and better any future experiences. My bf and I purchased a 6pc Kincaid bedroom set and a sectional from them last year for $7k. I paid what I was expecting, so I was happy with that. We wanted to finance the furniture, but he said we can only finance up to $5k, so we would have to give a check for $2k down (which we knew was bs, but let the man have a little cash in his pocket, I can't get mad at that, though I don't like to be lied to). Finally after months of waiting, which I knew was to be expected, the furniture was delivered. The delivery men, were pretty unknowledgable and they also forgot the nightstands, which is not a big deal. But what I do find to be a big deal, and am still pissed about to this day is the fact that my bed has cut-outs for wooden slats. I never got my wooden slats. I called about them multiple times, they sent over one of their delivery men with metal slats and screwed them into my wooden bed frame, they obviously are not the right size as they don't even touch the floor, which I pointed out, only to receive a confused response. The part that really gets me is no matter what I say the owner plays dumb, like "what's a wooden slat?" are you serious? You tell me you have been in the furniture business since you were a teenager or something and you don't know what a wooden slat is? At some point they started ignoring my calls and I gave up, but I am not a happy customer. read more

I could write forever, but will try to be brief. In short, I would never recommend this store or encourage anyone to shop here Even if you land a better price it is not worth it. The ensuing headaches will make you wishing you spent hundreds more elsewhere. Furniture is not just wood that sits there You buy the sales people with it so pay attention please. Issue #1 - Ordered a high end, custom table. Waited months for it to arrive only to find out...woops...Michael Anthony staff ordered the matching chairs in the incorrect size. And Whoops again, the upholstery on the chairs were not what we ordered. After waiting many months with no table, try waiting a few more months to get the corrected chairs. Simple attention to detail issues. Had to buy another table just to have a place to eat in the meantime. Issue #2 - At the same time purchased a day bed. It was defective, broken and missing parts. I suppose I can blame the manufacturer. But Michael Anthony sells the product and must stand behind the product. We tried to get repairs handled through the manufacturer. But the manufacturer doesn't deal with the public directly, so I need Michael Anthony's help. Unfortunately that wasn't happening. Almost 1 year now and no resolution. They'll call back pronto for a new sale. God forbid you have an issue, no one wants to hear from you. I understand everyone is busy but we've waited too long for support. I have sent dozens of emails to Michael with no response. Countless unreturned phone calls. I am running with all the work trying to get it resolved myself through the credit card. It's been a nightmare over something so simple if the store would call you back and help. OVERALL: Do not shop here, there are plenty of other options on Route 22 if you're looking for a deal. Purchase our Dining room table and 10 chairs which were ordered and delivered to us last year. The Owner quoted us a very competitive price and the lead time expected. These items came in on time and the delivery persons were very careful and neat at setting up furniture. Just went back last week to purchase a new Sectional and Loveseat for our Family room. We were shown different price levels and my wife and I went with a nuvo leather unit that fit our price point and color selection. They were very helpful in trying to work with our budget, assist in color and material selection. Dealing with this retailer is what true customer service is about. I had issues finding a matching piece of furniture still made but no longer carried at the previous retailer, I used Raymour. I come to find out Raymour uses their own product names to control the market. Michael Anthony Furniture took the time to sit down and find what I was looking for. So I ordered it and all went well, took a little bit but completely understandable because it was coming directly from manufacture. (About a year ago). Recently, I needed a sofa, so shopped around found one at Raymour and liked it. Before I decided to purchase I wanted to do some competition shopping to insure the price was reasonable. Again, Michael Anthony found the piece, was more reasonable in price and provided better service. Since Raymour has "exclusive" products the specs were different he took the time to explain the specs not only from the manufacturer catalog and online website but ordered a swatch to insure color match/similarity. I'm awaiting swatch delivery and if all works out my order will be placed. This retailer has earned my trust and business twice. I cannot comment on the warranty he provides as I haven't purchased/used. I do want to add my experience at Raymour was horrible. read more

I spent over ten thousand dollars.. well I received the couch about 7 months later , besides the staff (one rude woman who called me sweetie) was never able to confirm a delivery date. I get my couch with missing pillows of course and till this day still waiting for. what a joke right!!! never getting that. found a note in the couch with instructions to cancel my very expensive hand tied pieces for the sectional ..from the owner to Kincaid directly. when I confronted owners they lied . if I didn't find the note they would have never said and I would have never known. My fiancee and I discovered Michael Anthony Furniture Gallery after we saw a living room and bedroom set at the showroom of another local New Jersey furniture dealer. Unfortunately we were unable to reach an agreement on price with this other store (name need not be mentioned) but we did have our hearts set on these specific pieces for our home. I called Michael Anthony Furniture and spoke to Michael who I ultimately dealt with from start to finish. I told him exactly what I needed and it turned out that he carried the set we wanted for our living room but did not do frequent business with the company that made the bedroom set we wanted. Michael was however able and willing to order the bedroom set for us. I communicated with Michael regarding what I was willing to spend on these sets and within a couple of days a deal was in place for our order. The furniture was ordered and Michael requested a reasonable deposit which I happily provided in person. The only snag in the process was the waiting period which was considerable but of no fault of the dealer. Our order was placed in mid October and would take an estimated 8 weeks for receiving and delivery. Unfortunately 8 weeks after our order was placed was mid December and the holidays/New Year can delay furniture an additional few weeks. Michael doubted this would apply to us when I placed the order but he did warn us of the possibility. As fate would have it, our furniture was delayed an additional 5 weeks which was frustrating but as I said previously; no fault of the store as I was warned of this possibility. In any case, Michael and his associates were available to efficiently communicate as I needed during the waiting period. Finally the delivery date was scheduled, cancelled due to weather (just our luck) and promptly rescheduled at an even more convenient date and time. Everything arrived promptly and was in terrific and complete condition as expected. The delivery team was thorough and competent in unloading the truck, moving the pieces into the house and assembling them with a fair amount of ease. Each piece we selected was in immaculate condition, we watched the delivery men unwrap everything from its original packaging and they were very careful bringing the items into the house. Everything ran smoothly and we paid our balance after the furniture was in place. My experience with Michael Anthony Furniture Gallery was terrific. Unfortunately some of the reviewers on here feel differently and that's understandable-everyone is entitled to their opinion based on their own experiences. I however would and shall recommend this store to others in search of quality furniture from a reputable dealer. I generally do not like shopping from corporate owned stores for a variety of reasons; I always prefer using a local supplier whenever possible. I walked through the door of this place knowing exactly what I needed and the store representatives did what it took to get it for me. If that's not good business than I don't know what is. NEVER AGAIN. My wife and I purchased a pair of end tables for our new living room. We asked the salesman helping us if they come assembled, to which he responded no, but we can assemble them for us. We then asked if we could pick them up instead of paying to have them delivered. He said yes we could pick them up at their show room, but of course we were responsible for them as soon as we walked out the door - which is understandable. So, after waiting just a couple weeks we had to call them to find out if our tables were there - which they were. My wife spoke to a woman and a man named Michael that afternoon, both of whom said that although the tables were actually in their warehouse, they would bring them over to the showroom where we could pick them up, but we had to be there by 6pm. And now the problems begin. 1) I had to leave work early to get there by 6pm. 2) When I got there, they informed me that my tables were still in the warehouse and that they never said they would bring them to the store. 3) What ever, I'll just follow their delivery guy to the warehouse and get them there... however, when we get there he pulls out two boxes. The end tables are not assembled. I decided to go back to the store to complain. We paid over $500 for two little end tables, this is not Ikea, they should be assembled like they said they would. 4) Once back at the store Michael again denied ever telling my wife they would be at the store. He also said that they never promised to assemble these for us. His excuse for not bringing the tables to the store was that he had no reason to go to the warehouse that day. No reason? How about it's less than a mile away and you told my wife you would do it, the other lady she spoke to said you would do it and the salesman promised the same. I said, what about customer service? He said going and getting the tables from the warehouse (like he promised) was not a matter of customer service. Really??? Then he offered to assemble the tables for a fee. I didn't want to mess with this guy ever again, so I said I would do it myself because I would have to leave work early AGAIN to pick them up because of their mistakes. He replied that it wasn't his problem. Bottom line, we like our tables, we like the price, but the customer service is the WORST I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. TERRIBLE. We had to call them to find out our tables were in, they flat out lied to us about assembly and having them ready for us to pick up, he called us liars, said it wasn't his problem and then tried to charge me for assembly. This jag has no idea how to treat customers or just doesn't give a rip about customer service. read more

After about 3 months of waiting, another bedroom set came. I couldn't believe my eyes when every single piece had problems again!! This time again I asked to return the set and get the full refund. They wouldn't let me do it. In order not to pay a restocking fee for furniture that came damaged twice which is ridiculous I had to get a store credit to buy a mirror. Stay away!! Purchased several pieces of upholstered furniture over a year ago. Mid price range. Everything went smoothly. After 7 months had a problem with a seam on one of the cushions. Michael had me take a picture and ordered a replacement cover and it was delivered directly to my home. Product was within warranty so no charge. After a year had the same problem with another cushion. Called again and Michael had me follow the same procedure and even though no longer in warranty there was no charge. We appreciated how he made the process so easy. No trips to the store, no arguments and NO CHARGE. Was greeted by friendly saleswoman and told her what I was looking for. She didn't have the living room group on the floor but we found it in the Klaussner catalog. Placed order and within 4 weeks had the pieces delivered to my house. There was a small issue with one piece that had a loose piece of material. Called and spoke with the owner, Michael who immediately sent out a factory representative to take care of the problem. I purchased furniture here over the summer and had a completely different experience. I purchased bunk beds and a desk. I had a concern about the assembly of the bunk beds in my son's bedroom. The salesperson called the manufacturer and assured me that the bunk beds could be assembled the way I wanted. However, when the bunk beds were delivered they could not be assembled the way I needed. Both the salesperson (Patty) and the owner (Michael) did everything they could to fix the problem. The bunk beds were returned with no restocking fee and a substitute was found and delivered at no extra charge. The delivery guys were also professional and courteous. I don't believe the issue was the fault of the store yet they were prompt and diligent in insuring that the problem was resolved to my satisfaction. I would definitely shop here again. read more

EVERY piece of furniture in my house has been purchased from Michael Anthony. Wonderful Customer Service!!! We have worked with Patty and Scott and they are Very Helpful and Pleasant to work with!! Shipping and Delivery isnt always as quick as we hope but thats not their fault its the manufacturer. Well worth the wait. Last year our most recent purchase was a couch and chair. There were some defects in the fabric that we chose and Michael (owner) replaced the cushions multiple times. After about 8 months and about 12 new cushions and he even sent someone out to fix a piece on the chair, Michael spoke to the manufacturer and got us a whole new couch and chair. Wasnt his fault but he stood by us and got us what we needed. Yeah, maybe it took a little bit to get to where we needed to be and it was very annoying at times but again it wasnt the stores fault and with some patience and persistence they got us what we needed. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I ordered two white chairs for a total of $1200. On the date of delivery I received cream colored chairs when my order form clearly states the color as WHITE! The owner Micheal Anthony informed me the chairs do not come in white and refused to refund my $1200 even though the order form states I ordered white chairs!!! So I took him to court and WON due to him not showing up, Called to tell him what happened in court and he told me that he has no intentions on refunding the money I paid him !!!!
