My story starts with an appointment with Dr Pamela Howard. First it takes months to get an appointment to see her. I saw her in July. She recommended a home sleep study. It takes months to get an appointment for a home sleep study. When the date came (in December), I did my home sleep study and returned the equipment to the Neurology Center. I was told that the results will be posted on the patient portal about a week after the study. About 10 days after the study, I received a bill. But I did not see any report, nothing summarizing the result of the sleep study. I waited a few days, until 2 weeks after the study, and I still saw nothing on my patient portal. I called to inquire. This is when my negative experience started. I was told I need to see someone before they will release the results. NO one told me this before. And Dr Howard's first available appointment is in March. I said this is unacceptable. I refuse to pay the bill until I receive a report summarizing the results. Then I was reminded - when I arrived at the office, they required me to give a credit card they kept on file. So the Neurology Center will bill my credit card whether I liked it or not. I did not have the option of not paying. This made me quite angry. How can they bill me when I have not yet received the result of the study! The person I spoke with said there is a physician's assistant who has a spot tomorrow and I could speak with her via telehealth. I said fine. Next day morning, I looked at the email from the Neurology Center. There was a link to a website with paperwork I had to fill out before my telehealth session. There were maybe 10 screens of info to fill out. On the very LAST screen it said I had to be physically located in DC or Maryland in order to do telehealth with this person. No one warned me about this. I live in Virginia. The person who suggested the appointment should have warned me. She should have noticed that my address is in Virginia. I called to double check - is this information correct. Do I have to be in DC or Maryland? I was put on hold for 15 minutes. So I hung up and called again. And I was told, "Yes you have to be in DC or Maryland." Fortunately I live close enough to DC and I found this out early enough I could actually go into the office. But this only added to my negative patient experience. When I saw the physician's assistant, Annise Claude, she told me the result of my sleep study is, there is nothing bad enough to warrant a CPAP machine. Now why couldn't they tell me that via a simple email or report via the patient portal. I had to go into the office, spend 3 hours of my time to go there and come back, to hear the news they could not really find anything bad. And of course this gives the Neurology Center another chance to bill because this visit is not included in the fee for the home sleep study. In summary, I believe this office is more focused on profits than patients. This is not a good place for patients.

This business takes months to see you and book appointments, then they misinform you about the costs and do as little as possible during the appointments so they can get you in again and charge you. The business model is extremely predatory. Here's one example: I had a follow up appointment for a sleep study, video call... physician was over 15 minutes late after they cancelled the appointment and pushed it back another month. They told me nothing I couldn't already read on a print out from the study and then boom surprise charge for over 150$ for a 10 minute call, with an ask for follow up appointments in the future. Management was useless when trying to negotiate this, which wasn't the first case of surprise expenses from this business. Stay away, if you know what's good for you.

Dr Ibe is a wonderful, smart and caring person. She both listens and observes; then offers solutions to fit your needs and wishes. For instance, I told her I did not like taking prescription drugs. Each time, she has printed out exercises for my particular needs. The neck and shoulder exercises along with just 5 pills worked like a charm. I am for certain that the exercises I received today will be helpful as well. The office is clean and staff members are efficient, polite, and respectful. I highly recommend this practice, and trust this doctor with my health care.

This one I am glad to report is one of the good ones. Basically everybody that works there is great from the front desk Michelle who is helpful and relatable. The medical assistant Katie made me feel comfortable let me ask my questions and instruct me on what I needed to know. Then I met Dr. G who went above and beyond to let me know how serious my various conditions were that I had and gave me a practical but tactical plan to intelligently work to stop and potentially reverse each one. I had a number of side problems that I thought were unrelated to my core issue and he patiently thoroughly explained how they were all related and how it would progress to something much worse potentially something that could really ruin my life. I ask a lot of questions the doctors which I'm sure annoys them, but due to having some weird stuff I felt let down by so many. I have educated myself deeply on my own health issues but of course I am biased and have blind spots. The fact that I went to an urgent care to take care of a foot but that I was able to be happily convinced to intervene now and work with him to take the necessary steps towards greater health is something I've never seen before. And I have yet to see Dr. Axl which I should be doing soon I already have great faith that he will follow in the same great care and quality. Talking to Dr. G he explained how not urgent care centers are the same and that there's different ways they can operate and that really showed me what a gem I have stumbled upon. They have a primary care doctor there which is amazing so now I can switch my doctor there and make appointments for that or walk-ins. Now I don't know how expensive this is for everyone everyone has their own concerns with how that all breaks down. But Dr. G was very thorough with me in helping me even to understand to make it work which I've never seen before at any of the doctors I've been to. He did a thorough work up on me getting the bulk of test done today which I now have a series of follow ups that I can do and I know that I'm on the right track now. For anyone reading this I know that we all have different issues different concerns it's really hard to find a good doctor if you don't have one already and I suggest if you live in this area and you need an urgent care try this one out make sure, make sure you're clear on everything, as we know you can get surprises but the office is transparent and upfront as this, that delivers such quality as well as offering a multitude of services not seen by most urgent care centers, I think Xcel Urgent Care is a great add to Falls Church and is worth a visit if you're considering it,

When the doctor saw me, he said: "You will pay $900 either here or there," implying that the decision was his, not mine. Honestly, the staff were very kind and cooperative, but this doctor's attitude was unprofessional, especially since there was already a price agreement at this clinic. When a patient is paying out of pocket, the final decision should always be the patient's, based on their budget and comfort -- not pressured into a more expensive option. I was told that Dr. Motazedi would not provide a prescription to cover even a few days. The idea of going three weeks without medication was very concerning and could potentially negatively impact my health. I found the lack of concern for continuity of care troubling, particularly after being a patient of the practice for more than two decades. Unfortunately, this experience was not the only factor in my decision to leave. Over the years, I have experienced multiple issues with the administrative side of the practice. There have been appointments where I waited more than an hour to be seen. On another occasion, I was scheduled for an appointment on a day when the office was closed. I have also received a same day call asking me to come in several hours earlier than my scheduled appointment because the afternoon schedule was light. Experiences like these left me feeling that my time and convenience were not always given the same consideration that was expected of me as a patient. When I ultimately decided to cancel my upcoming appointment and requested my medical records so I could transition to another practice, I explained that I wanted to share feedback about why I was leaving. Unfortunately, the response and tone I received left me with the distinct impression that my concerns and my decision to leave simply did not matter. After more than 20 years as a patient, that interaction felt dismissive, which was disappointing. I understand that medical practices have policies regarding prescriptions, scheduling, and medication management. I also understand that unexpected circumstances arise. However, professionalism, communication, compassion, and respect for a patient's time still matter. After more than two decades with this practice, I did not make the decision to leave lightly. My recent experience, combined with the administrative issues I have encountered over the years and the way my concerns were handled when I decided to leave, ultimately confirmed that it was time for me to find another provider.

I've never written a review for a doctor but my negative experience with this practice compels me to warn others. This is not a top rate practice. Is their recent merger with Privia Medial Group singularly designed to overcharge patients and insurance providers? Why did their rates increase so dramatically you're almost guaranteed out-of-pocket expenses? When asked why they were telling patients "nothing would change under Privia" the office couldn't provide a coherent answer. The office worker sheepishly stated "he's listening to this call" yet Dr. Stern wouldn't engage directly to answer why his office was lying to patients. The base charge for an office visit and other services has sky rocked resulting in what I consider excessive out-of-pocket expenses. I escalated the issue to my insurance company and they were also surprised to learn their charges grew substantially with zero explanation. We all understand rates increase but don't lie too your patients telling them nothing has changed when in fact you're trying to squeeze every dollar out of them, plus billing them incorrectly. Shame on you. Even if you have gold plated medical coverage expect to pay through the nose at this office, and please double check your bill for glaring inaccuracies. DC is a competitive market for good healthcare so please take a look at the competition before signing up here.

Most of my referrals have been from the IMG groups which I appreciate because if god forbid something were to happen and I end up at INOVA the specialists I see are on call.
