I lived in this area for 14 years and never knew this place existed. The food was exceptional! Our servers were on top of it, never letting our drinks get empty and regularly ensuring we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself has sections or separate rooms which helps keep the ambiance cozy minimizing the noise. If you're in the area, and need a nice place for a special dinner, don't let the location deter you. You won't regret it!

Truly outstanding. The service was perfect, very professional with frequent check ins and friendly conversation. The ambiance is lovely with low mood lighting and Italian influence pictures on the walls. The food? Stunning! I got the filet mignon cooked perfectly. We also got (not pictured) the calamari, onion rings, and baked Brie. Definitely recommend for an intimate date night out, or for our instance, a warm birthday dinner with family!

Atmosphere - Nice. The restaurant has speakeasy feel. As you enter, there is a small bar that seats roughly 6 people. From what I can tell there are two dining rooms, one a bit larger than the other Service - very good. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. What I most appreciated was that the service team worked together to support one another. Food - very good. I had the Beer and Cheddar soup as a starter. It was good, but somewhat bland. For my entree, I had one of the specials, which was called a Filet Mignon Oscar, with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. The filet was very good, as was the mashed potatoes and asparagus. Overall Value - Very Good! The prices are reasonable and the food very. I will definitely return.

For our first visit to MJ's as a special date night, we made a same-day reservation on a Thursday evening after 8pm. Service was warm and attentive, and we were seated at a booth. There was a group of about 10 other diners celebrating a birthday and another couple there for a romantic very-dressed-up date night. Decor oozed of classy+sassy Hollywood. We ordered the roasted garlic appetizer with fresh bread, roast duck with port wine glaze, the coq au vin blanc special, and crème brûlée. A fun amusé of pepper soup was complimentary. Beverages included prosecco (glass), Kentucky bourbon barrel ale (draft) and Courvoisier. We enjoyed everything and will definitely return. Will most likely need to procure a bottle of their special batch "Maker's Mark Michael John's Bradentucky bourbon whisky" !!

First time visit and I enjoyed the experience. We had a drink at the bar and we were the only guests there so it was nice as we could easily talk. I had a peach martini which was excellent. She shook it so well that ice crystals were on top, which was great. The four of us had a nice table and I liked that there was no music playing so we could easily talk. The servers all seem to share tables, so there was always someone helping us. The menu is very nice, with a variety of items. I started with the beer cheddar soup. I liked that they didn't take our entree order until we were done with our starter. While waiting for our starter, they brought out bread and butter, which was very good. They also gave us a complimentary small cup of broccoli cheddar soup. It was extremely salty. My beer cheddar soup wasn't what I had hoped, and my husband had ordered the tomato Gorgonzola soup and didn't care for it so we switched. Well...... I liked his soup less than I liked mine. I would get a salad next time. For my entree I chose the chicken cordon bleu which came with whipped potatoes and vegetables. Food arrived timely and our plates were nice and hot and so was the food. The portion was huge. I loved the carrot! The chicken was more coated and crunchy than I anticipated and not nearly enough cheese for me. The potatoes were good. Service was exceptional and atmosphere was very nice.

Stuffed Founder Special with vegetables and brussel sprouts

The ambiance is quaint and calm. The walls are adorned with wine bottles and black and white photos in a dimly lit setting. We had such a pleasant experience with the service. It was top notch! We ordered Beer Cheese Soup, Stuffed Flounder, and Filet Mignon which were cooked to perfection. They also provided a complimentary taste of Broccoli Cheese Soup with our drinks. It was hands down the best I'd ever tasted! I would highly recommend this establishment and I will definitely be back again!

Went here last Saturday. The food was very good and the portions were large. I had the chicken piccata and it was very tasty.

Valentines 2026…read more First time at Connors and it didn't disappoint. He, Gary, had the Prime Rib with Garlic Mash and side salad. I had the petit filet, 6 oz, with lobster bisque and asparagus. Connors did not disappoint. My filet was a perfect medium rare with a fantastic char. Let's face it we can get such a fantastic char on our home Weber without over cooking it. Those professional grills are wonderful. Gary's prime rib was perfectly medium rare as well. Gary enjoyed a few Stella's and I enjoyed a red sangria. Finished our meal with strawberry icecream that we shared. The restaurant is configured so that privacy for those intimate meals as there are numerous cozy booths. Service was excellent with our server checking back to see if everything was delicious and asking if we needed anything. Best part, they do take reservation. Sorry, no photos. I prefer to concentrate on our meal and each other.

Unfortunately One of the worst meals I've had since living here. For a $250 the steaks should have…read moretasted like steak and not a bottle of seasoning. Dad visiting from out of the town and wanted a quality steak dinner so we've heard so much about this resturant we thought we would give it a try. When we arrived the ladies at the front were super sweet and attentive to our reservation and seating. Our server was beyond distracted. The restaurant was not super busy upon arrival so it was rather upsetting that our server were wouldn't spend more than 20 seconds at time. When he did inquire how everything was, we started talking and he walked away from the table before we could even get two words out. The Voodoo shrimp, Fried Green Tomatoes, and bisque were delicious. The steaks were seasoned beyond belief to where you couldn't even taste the steak flavor, garlic mashed potatoes had zero flavor and tasted as though they were water logged. The "loaded" baked potato had about a teaspoon of toppings that I stretched out to cover the top. The asparagus was extremely thick, firm, and flavorless. A leader stopped by at the end of the meal to inquire, we politely gave feedback but there was a unbothered reception by the lead. "Next time" was used in her response. She did offer to put a new steak for my dad on the grill, but by this time we were at the end of our meal and at this point ready to leave. There are too many options in Sarasota and the area's Keys to visit with better food and service. Ultimately, the sides and apps are good but the steak quality especially for the prices cannot be justified. I've had a steak better meal at an Outback.
