The updates here have changed the vibe and the food from MJ is still terrific. We had the escargot and honey brie to start then each ordered our own entrees - 16oz Prime NY strip, Duck and Gorgonzola tenderloin tips. All come with two sides. Terrific meal. Service was excellent. Great all around!

I lived in this area for 14 years and never knew this place existed. The food was exceptional! Our servers were on top of it, never letting our drinks get empty and regularly ensuring we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself has sections or separate rooms which helps keep the ambiance cozy minimizing the noise. If you're in the area, and need a nice place for a special dinner, don't let the location deter you. You won't regret it!

Truly outstanding. The service was perfect, very professional with frequent check ins and friendly conversation. The ambiance is lovely with low mood lighting and Italian influence pictures on the walls. The food? Stunning! I got the filet mignon cooked perfectly. We also got (not pictured) the calamari, onion rings, and baked Brie. Definitely recommend for an intimate date night out, or for our instance, a warm birthday dinner with family!

Atmosphere - Nice. The restaurant has speakeasy feel. As you enter, there is a small bar that seats roughly 6 people. From what I can tell there are two dining rooms, one a bit larger than the other Service - very good. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. What I most appreciated was that the service team worked together to support one another. Food - very good. I had the Beer and Cheddar soup as a starter. It was good, but somewhat bland. For my entree, I had one of the specials, which was called a Filet Mignon Oscar, with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. The filet was very good, as was the mashed potatoes and asparagus. Overall Value - Very Good! The prices are reasonable and the food very. I will definitely return.

For our first visit to MJ's as a special date night, we made a same-day reservation on a Thursday evening after 8pm. Service was warm and attentive, and we were seated at a booth. There was a group of about 10 other diners celebrating a birthday and another couple there for a romantic very-dressed-up date night. Decor oozed of classy+sassy Hollywood. We ordered the roasted garlic appetizer with fresh bread, roast duck with port wine glaze, the coq au vin blanc special, and crème brûlée. A fun amusé of pepper soup was complimentary. Beverages included prosecco (glass), Kentucky bourbon barrel ale (draft) and Courvoisier. We enjoyed everything and will definitely return. Will most likely need to procure a bottle of their special batch "Maker's Mark Michael John's Bradentucky bourbon whisky" !!

First time visit and I enjoyed the experience. We had a drink at the bar and we were the only guests there so it was nice as we could easily talk. I had a peach martini which was excellent. She shook it so well that ice crystals were on top, which was great. The four of us had a nice table and I liked that there was no music playing so we could easily talk. The servers all seem to share tables, so there was always someone helping us. The menu is very nice, with a variety of items. I started with the beer cheddar soup. I liked that they didn't take our entree order until we were done with our starter. While waiting for our starter, they brought out bread and butter, which was very good. They also gave us a complimentary small cup of broccoli cheddar soup. It was extremely salty. My beer cheddar soup wasn't what I had hoped, and my husband had ordered the tomato Gorgonzola soup and didn't care for it so we switched. Well...... I liked his soup less than I liked mine. I would get a salad next time. For my entree I chose the chicken cordon bleu which came with whipped potatoes and vegetables. Food arrived timely and our plates were nice and hot and so was the food. The portion was huge. I loved the carrot! The chicken was more coated and crunchy than I anticipated and not nearly enough cheese for me. The potatoes were good. Service was exceptional and atmosphere was very nice.

Our service was great. The atmosphere is upscale steak house. Still casual in Florida. We started with the wedge and they split it for us. My steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. The vegetables were fresh. The truffle fries are a must. My wife had the hog fish. It was delicious also. We highly recommend this place.

I'm not sure what happened or if we were there on an off night the ambiance is nice/upscale so that was enjoyable. Firstly, we opted for the bread service and the whipped ricotta. The bread was a bit heavy and very oily, albeit was tasty. If that's not your preferred bread style please take note. The whipped ricotta was quite nice, and it was fun to try. I had the branzino fish entree which was okay. My partner's meal was a chicken parmigiana which, I hate to report, was largely unimpressive. We ate our entrees but agreed we weren't thrilled. My second visit was redemptive. On this visit I ate with a friend in the bar area. The bartender was awesome and was very attentive and personable. We enjoyed our drinks and I enjoyed the salad I added fish to. I enjoyed the atmosphere and it was fun to sit in the bar area. All in all, this isn't bad for a chain Italian restaurant. I hear lunch at Bar Italia is good. There is plenty of parking near this standalone restaurant with lots of other businesses adjacent to explore as wells check it out if you're in the area.

Same smell we know locally. My wife told me that she witnessed the manager spraying something near the other bar patrons behind me as he went toward the kitchen. She knew I would be so upset about it that she did not point it out at the time. I just curled my nose and thought about another seat or to vacate the premise. It dissipates quickly so we tried to be forgiving. The tab was inflated by a drink never ordered and they charge extra for Tajin on the rim of your margarita without notice or justification. So we needed the owner to approve the corrections of the bill. We were told that it became a "flavored" margarita when Tajin is added to the rim in place of salt or no salt. Then we got the "costs are up" story that we have not heard before while ordering my margaritas anywhere else. The waitress did manage to get in a few "I don't make the rules, I just work here" clip that we read here in other reviews. So my wife was pissed and our return visits are now very unlikely. I am not happy either but was looking forward to coming back for liver and onions with our stepfather very soon. Doubtful now. Poop stench in the face, spraying chemicals in the dining room during service and nickel and dime issues make it hard to justify taking our family back here. That is what disappointed me the most. I know this place had a real chance with us at first. Probably not now. ‍

Both came with a kale and quinoa salad which was refreshing with a hint of heat. A+. Unfortunately the ribeye initially was overdone. My partner ordered medium rare, and although the steak was flavorful, there was no pink in sight and it was slightly tough. After a few minutes, when our server checked in, we let him know, a manager came over soon after, and he said he would have it redone. It took longer than expected, and the other two of us were done eating before it arrived. In fact, I was panicked that the steak would again be overdone as some time had passed, and I said that to the server. But the steak was perfectly done when it arrived. To make up for the lateness, the manager offered us a dessert. We had the key lime and it was amazing. Surprisingly but appreciatively we were comped the steak. They made it right and that is important. Service was good. I did run out of water a few times. My only real complaint there was the server should have asked us to cut into the steak right away. I wish all restaurants did this. This is our second time here. We were here last year and had a great meal then as well. We will be back.

There were at least three hostesses/waiters/tresses greeting us at the door. It's more of an adult environment. Very nice! We ordered an app, the cornbread, their claim to fame. The only issue, and I could have asked for more, was they should bring a small side of dressing when they bring the salads out. Regardless the salad was yummy! The prices were steep but not any more than you would expect to pay in an upscale restaurant, $23. And, what I appreciated was they DO NOT INCLUDE AN AUTO GRATUITY! YAY!!! Overall the experience was outstanding; environment was beautiful, service was good, food was delicious. We will be back, many times I'm sure!
