I was given a bottle of water to tide me over before my appointment. Little things like that make a big difference. I had an implant that had fallen into disrepair and was unusable. Dr. Choi had the arduous task of removing the implant close to the nerve. He was able to perform the task with a minimum of discomfort and time spent in the office. During the procedure, Dr. Choi was entertaining, personable, and humorous. I had a great time talking to him and the hygienist was actively engaged in her work and the conversation we were having. I normally don't get too ecstatic about dental procedures; however, he managed to make it a pleasant experience. We just clicked, and I felt the experience was rewarding. He gave excellent instruction for after care, which resulted in only a small amount of pain. His follow up appointment was quick and made me feel comfortable that everything went smoothly. I am really glad that my dentist (Dr. Erin Paige) recommended him. Bravo!

Office will not be flexible at all with care plans, will not consider using the same x-rays that have already been taken at other offices, resulting in double payment. I had to cancel an appointment on the same day because I was hospitalized, paid the $50 cancellation fee willingly, but then had to pay for my next procedure up front because I cancelled one appointment, and paid the fee for it. So requiring payment upfront seemed retaliatory. Most people do not have periodontal insurance, or the periodontist doesn't accept insurance. But the cost of services - especially repetitive services, or those that are nice but not absolutely necessary - is prohibitive, especially for those with fixed incomes. It leaves us few care choices, and results in people losing teeth because they can't afford the repetitive charges. It's a sad situation. Update to review: Dr Lam personally called me, which was greatly appreciated. She was able to work with me on services that are imperative vs those that can wait. This is exactly what I wanted. Very impressed with the personal service.

I am a 74-yr woman living on a fixed income who was referred to Dr. Linda Lam from Empire Dental…read morePlan being told she is a participating provider and would give me a free consult. At the consult (which required $455 be paid for xrays) I was told by this very young doctor that I needed over tens of thousands of dollars of repairs for multiple dental issues she identified. I questioned if these repairs were even necessary since I have faithfully been examined twice a year by a dentist (in practice for 38 years) when having my teeth cleaned. In the end, I was astounded that I had to pay a total of $2,479 to Dr. Lam just to have one tooth extracted without a post-op visit being done. I was in great discomfort, only tolerating a soft diet and having pain with hot and cold foods. Since the sutures were not removed, I had to wait 1 1/2 months for them to dissolve. When I called Dr Lam's office for an appointment for the implant, I was instructed by Alyssa that she would NOT make an appointment until I had all of the expensive work completed on the remainder of my mouth. She refused to allow me to speak to Dr. Lam or even pass on the message to her. Alyssa said that she was "not refusing care, but that I was not compliant with their plan". Completing forms and sending multiple emails to have my X-rays forwarded to a new periodontic, to date I am unsure it was even done. If you are elderly, living on a meager income and don't want to spend tens of thousands of dollars on dental work (which may not even be necessary), I strongly suggest you use another periodontic dentist if you are looking for a tooth implant.

I declined, but changed my mind since my financial situation changed and I now have low income dental insurance. I really liked Dr Chi and his office staff. The office is very nicely decorated and clean. They have new and sophisticated equipment which always makes me feel more at ease. I called to cancel my root canal appointment and I asked IF I could get cleanings and future fillings with Dr, Chi. (Using a specilist who would take my new insurance would save me $2700k - Dr. Chi's fee for root canal and crown). I was told NO I had to get my root canal with him ONLY and I could not even return there for cleanings or fillings!! This literally brought me to tears on the phone with his wife/receptionist! She didn't seem very understanding or compassionate. She just said he has a strict standard of care. *** Here is the kicker though! Today I went to a very well known root canal specialist who has been practicing for over 30 years, and he said this tooth/molar needs to be extracted because it is so severely cracked that a root canal would not even be successful! * standard of care, eh!? I really question the ethics of this dental practice. The root canal specialist said he has never heard of a dentist dropping clients for wanting to see another provider. He also said that it appears as if Evergreen is more motivated by money than standard of care! There are a lot of great dentists in this area who are more interested in the health of their patients, than the money in their pockets! I'd be wary to go here $$$
