I LOVED Dr. Leigh and I'm glad he finally got to retire, but I will miss him very much. The new man is NOT worth going to. I had no cavities but he wanted to replace TWO crowns. I let him do it. Spent over 2 hours in their chair for what I thought was going to be a check up. When I came back a couple weeks later to get my "new" crowns put in, this man DID NOT give me any numbing agents, yanked my temp crowns out (which had a bad odor...) sprayed COLD AIR directly on to my OPEN NERVES (I almost leapt out of the chair in pain), did not wash it at all, and put the new crowns back in. It's been almost 2 months and I'm still having sensitivity with cold....Now I have to find a new dentist to fix this mess...oh and even with insurance I paid $777 to get this bullshit done. read more

I have been going to dr Leigh for over 20 years. I have nothing but the best experiences . Cleaning is fast and efficient . He feels like family along with his wife Vivian. After reading a couple of negative reviews on Yelp, I felt compelled to post my own review. My whole family have been patients of Dr. Leigh for over 30 years. We have always had top notch care from Dr. Leigh. He always does a thorough inspection and X-rays, as needed. He never tries to upsell any extra services. I think his cleaning technique is adequate without being painful. In my opinion, patients have a bigger responsibility of maintaining their teeth throughout the year by regular brushing and especially flossing or using a waterpik. The front office/reception area is an extra perk, because of Dr. Leigh's wife, Vivian, who is so friendly and awesome, just like her husband. If you're looking for a local family dentist, Dr. Leigh is a great choice. read more

Guess what? Dr. Leigh retired and as a longtime patient he will be missed. He was gentle, patient, honest, and never ever tried to up-sale me. It wasn't until I went to my appointment that I found out he retired. Now they have this new young buck there. I didn't have any cavities but he wanted to replace three old fillings with crowns that would cost me over $3000. This is the second time this has happened; a beloved dentist retires and it replaced someone who is untrustworthy. Apparently, there are others in my circle that are complaining about the same things. Avoid this clown at all cost! I went to this idiot as suggested by a relative. He is only interested in an ultra violet light teeth cleaning. After years of paying for his odd teeth cleaning procedure he told me that there was a cavity that needs work. He postponed the work to a point that it became a root canal! Of course he had to outsource the root canal. This happened not one but three times! Why am I going to a dentist that ignored work to a point that three root canals where now reguired? I thought a dentist was there to prevent this type of issue. When I finally went to a real dentist he was dumbfounded to understand why this buffoon had not taken care of issues during the years that had been visiting him. I am still dealing with his incompetence years later as the work he sourced out is failing as well. read more

JULIE M. (7-6-11) there are always people who for one reason or another don't like someone. That is your perogative. As you stated 'you have been told by other dental professionals that he does not do a good job cleaning'. They probably never had their teeth cleaned by him so they probably really wouldn't have any idea as to how Dr. Leigh would clean their teeth. My family has been his patient for over 30 years (I have NO PERIODONTAL PROBLEMS and I don't believe he is expensive). He is a very caring person especially with the children. RUN AWAY! this dentist and his unconventional way of doing prophylaxis, which is spraying water on my teeth and calls it cleaning for the amount of $120, should really raise a red flag. when it comes to dental work, he does not have the patient's dental health in mind but opts for the the path of least resistance: he takes care of the easy work, e.g. fillings for the accessible teeth, while referring me to another dentist for the ones that really need the attention. his wife sent me monthly bills, even after i told her to bill properly and accordingly. she referred my account to a collection agency when in fact she kept billing my GEHA medical rather than my GEHA dental. lady, you had one job to do... stay away from these hacks! read more

It pains me to write this as a person Dr. Leigh is very sweet...That said, I have had to have THREE crowns replaced in the last 2 years due to his lack of thorough care. All three I have had to pay for out of pocket because insurance only covers crown replacement after 7 years. I say this as a total patient of Dr. Leigh for years, GET A SECOND OPINION. Dr. Leigh is probably the best dentist I have ever been to. He and his office staff are extremely friendly, funny, and talkative, and they seem like they all really enjoy what they do. They use digital x-ray's and he puts them up on a large computer monitor right in front of you and he explains everything to you while he's looking at it so you understand what he's looking for. He also uses a new ultrasonic method of cleaning your teeth which is completely painless. No digging, scraping, messy, bloody, painful cleaning anymore! read more

My family and I have been coming to Dr. Leigh for 20+ years. He is the kindest most patient and sweet man. He is gentle and compassionate when he knows I'm nervous. He takes his time but does great work and has a bedside manner that I'm sure no other dentist can even come close to. His wife is the office manager and she is also a wonderful woman. I have been going to Dr. Leigh's office since I was 14. After being terrified of the dentist my whole life, Dr. Leigh has made going to the dentist actually relaxing. His office is friendly and caring, and his treatment is painless. When I lost my insurance after college, I didn't see him for several years. I was convinced I would need a ton of work, but was assured that my teeth weren't that bad and he fixed me right up with a few fillings. I still don't have insurance, but I would rather pay out of pocket for a dentist who I know and trust than try finding somebody else. I now live in Tennessee and still see Dr. Leigh during my visits back to California. I have recommended him to several people, who all continue to see him regularly. read more

Dr Leigh is for sure a 5 STAR dentist !! I have been going to Dr Leigh since 1988 and I would NEVER go any where else. He's reasonable on his prices, he does his own patient cleanings, he's up to date on technology, he's gentle and kind, very compassionate, he's great with kids.... If you have a needle phobia ( which I do) he has a technique where you don't feel it, he will talk you thru it and before you know it he's done, his staff is awesome, Vivian, his wife runs the office, his staff is very friendly.... JEFF H: Hate to tell you but our family thought the same thing about his cleaning methods. We were very wrong. We have been told by other dental professionals that he does not do a good job cleaning. We regret having gone to him twice a year for the past 16 years. We had to learn the hard way. If you continue as his patient, you will end up with expensive & painful periodontal problems, bad crowns etc. due to his poor practices'. Please take my advice. I had such a difficult time finding a dentist in the Santa Clarita Valley that didn't want to completely re-do my teeth and give me cosmetic procedures that were unnecessary. I grew up going to a great old-school dentist in Ventura, who knew cosmetic procedures but didn't feel the need to oversell them to every client. In Santa Clarita, I had been visiting a dentist that kept finding something wrong every visit, even though I felt I had been cleaning more and more diligently every time. I had never had that many fillings with my Ventura dentist. I would dread going to the dentist, was feeling like each dental visit was putting us back hundreds of dollars, and eventually just no longer wanted to go, even though I knew this was a detriment to my dental health. Enter Dr. Leigh. After looking at my x-rays and teeth, he told me I do not have a problem with cavities and never will. He showed me how the newer fillings that I had been given were wholly unnecessary. Like my dentist in Ventura, he cleaned my teeth himself and sent me on my way. The visit took a half hour. His office is run by, I believe, his wife (similar, again, to my Ventura dentist); his assistant has been the same since we started going a few years back. I am relieved to have a dentist that is not money-hungry and has my dental health as his priority. read more
