A couple scrapes into the cleaning, and I told her to stop, it felt like she was causing damage to my teeth. I left Dental Professionals and drive to my previous dentist (I changed due to job location change) I asked them to check that there had been no damage. Thankfully there was no damage to the teeth. However, they went ahead and did the cleaning for me. There was no pain, no extreme prying at my teeth, and no rudeness.

Well, mine scheduled it earlier that 6 months so when I got my next cleaning I was sent a bill because Insurance would not pay due to the office's scheduling mistake. I called the office to explain their mistake in scheduling and I was told that I needed to know what my Benefits were and it was my responsibility. In time, I was told that this would go to "collections" and the office would not even split their mistake with me 50/50. Now I don't know about you but I trust that my dentist/hygienist will schedule me for a 6 month cleaning or if a mistake is made, that they own their mistake. (I have since found a new dentist and I explained this scenario to the new dentist and they said they would have "written it off" because of the mistake that was made). I prefer to go where staff are Professional...they now are my new dentists. The dentists are great but the BILLING dept and manager are very unprofessional. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with these staff members. Dr. Huston is and always will be a good friend but I think the Practices' choice for billing staff needs to be changed. I had never had a crown before and was very apprehensive, but Dr. Huston was very thorough and explained why the crown would help keep that tooth as well as protect the other tooth. It was a very easy procedure- virtually painless. I received a temporary crown and then went back and received a permanent one. Now they have one day crowns for a permanent one which will be even better because they have their own new machine. However, if you are self-pay or have specific coverage limits, stay away. I was extremely clear with this office multiple times about my coverage. I told them exactly which X-rays my insurance would pay for and explicitly instructed them not to perform any that weren't covered. They ignored me, performed the unauthorized X-rays anyway, and then sent me a bill for the difference. When I called to contest the charges, their response was: "We don't let insurance dictate our care." That is a convenient excuse to ignore a patient's informed consent regarding their own finances. The office also lacks any personal touch. The staff is so large and the turnover must be so high that you rarely see the same person twice. It's always someone new who has barely read your notes and has no idea what you've previously requested.

Price: I was referred by my dentist for a root canal after having intense pain in a tooth for a…read moreweek. When I went I knew exactly what tooth needed work, I was asked to make a payment up front before they billed my insurance. I just got a bill in the mail (almost three months after the date of service). I'm almost offended by this bill. The root canal in itself is a huge expense, add in the x-rays and we're already well over a grand. There is an extra $104 oral evaluation charge and random "service charges" added on that date several months after treatment. The examination charge would have seemed fine other than that I had maybe a 2 minute discussion where Dr. Schaeffer checked to make sure I did have the correct tooth, and then very quickly there were needles in my mouth and my treatment started. Care: I am a busy person. I work full time and was told by my dentist that she was "fast," so I was already appreciating that. I'm not a scared dental patient. I have had some work done before, but I honestly was so anxious and on edge during the treatment. I was actually in and out in less than 40 minutes with completely paperwork and paying. Her work was so fast and aggressive and she began working immediately after shooting me up with the numbing agent. It was a very uncomfortable experience. I have never felt like so much like a dollar sign than a patient. The good news is she seemed to do good work and I had no issues since then.
