I had a fantastic experience today! I walked in for a trim, needed to wait an hour, so I made an appointment for an hour from then and walked next door to get a pedicure and have a glass of wine . My appointment time comes around and I walk back over where I'm greeted with all smiles and promptly seen at my appointment by an adorable young thing named Eden. Eden was fabulous! She did exactly as I asked talked as much as I was comfortable with. She gave me a great scalp massage with my shampoo and some helpful hints on how to care for my medium course wavy hair. Otto has transformed my hair!!! He's made me smile again!!! Upon moving to Naples my hair became brittle dry and started falling out!!! I was afraid to color or cut as I thought it would fall out quicker!!! After trying oils and treatments at home with no success I went to Michael Thomas where Otto sat with me and mapped out a plan to get my hair healthy again!!! During my first visit he gave me a great cut and treated my hair to make it manageable again!!! No one else will ever cut my hair ...ever... but Otto. I went to another MTHD stylist who is great, very talented. As I flipped through the hairstyle pictures on the Michael Thomas Hair Design Instagram page to find a picture posted of my haircut last winter, I noticed many modern, layered, textured cuts that I loved. The same name was featured under all of them...Otto. So, with fingers crossed and hopes high, when the last cut was growing out, I took my silver-haired 60-year-old self to see him. First of all, he is a friendly person, who truly listens. I appreciate that. Many stylists make assumptions based on age and gray hair, but he didn't. I explained that I like texture, layers, movement and product; I absolutely did not want to have a dated hairstyle (not that he would). He worked his magic, and I ended up with the haircut of my dreams. Naples is my second home, and after the cut Otto gave me, I won't go to anyone else, anywhere, for a haircut. I am a personal assistant to a gentleman who was visiting Naples during the November holidays. The receptionist was fabulous on the phone. She listened to my client's preferences, recommended a stylist, filled out his new client intake form for me over the phone so my client would not have to do this upon his arrival, and she was able to get him in to see Adrian/stylist on the day I requested. However, my client reported back that although the haircut was satisfactory, Adrian refused to rinse my client's hair after the cut, leaving my client with loose hairs and an unfinished style. This was unacceptable, especially if you are in the service industry and expect to be tipped well. Even if the stylist did not have time, he should have made time. How long could this have taken for a man's hairstyle, really? My client visits Naples often and we will not be using this salon again. read more

-Posted by my girlfriend- I came in with pictures of silver/gray platinum hair requesting that for my new hair color. I came in with already very light blonde hair which is my natural color. My goal was to change it from blonde to silver or white colored. Phoebe was my stylist and she went through an entire list of all these things she had to do in order for my hair to be that color. She then showed me pictures of white blonde hair which looked stunning so I agreed that we would go for that. She said the charge would be 360$ which included a trim. Prior to this she gave me a shampoo, a purple shampoo, a conditioner, and a deep conditioner, this all came out to 79$. Since she seemed so confident that I would get the white blonde hair of course the price was not 100% my issue because I'm young and dumb and just wanted the perfect hair color. SO after being at this salon for 6 hours she seems to discretely be asking other girls to come over to "help" her with the dye or with whatever she was doing because I don't even know. And when she was blow drying my hair I saw that my roots were a brassy color and the rest of my hair was extremely light but this was just because she put on a temporary silver color all over my hair and told me it would have a blue tint for a few days and when I washed it that it would go away. So my hair DID look silver while I was at the salon. After it was blow dried I asked her if my roots looked brassy to her and she said no I don't think so I think it's the lighting but here let's go outside and take a look. We went outside and I could clearly see the roots were brassy and she still told me they weren't. So I just hoped when I washed it with the purple shampoo it would go away because she suggested that. After it was blow dried I felt my hair for the first time and it felt like straw and it was awful so I told her that it freaked me out and she said she would steam flat iron it and it would feel like butter after. In the middle of this her next client comes in and she leaves me and cuts his hair while this other stylist takes place and flat irons my hair. I can hear her sighing and getting frustrated with my hair because it sounds and feels so horrible. When it's done it does feel like butter and like I said it was silver in the salon it was very blonde and very bright. I was happy at this point so I tipped 40$ which I regret tipping anything after having my hair ruined. The next 4 days came and I finally washed my hair. When I came out of the shower my hair was YELLOW it was a normal blonde color and it was very light but it was still yellow. I spent well over 400$ for hair that lasted 4 days. I was sick to my stomach. I forgot to mention that last minute at the salon she had changed the price from 360$-387$. It's not been about 3 weeks and my hair is the SAME exact color that I came in with. It's not even as light as the first wash. I will be going to a new salon in December and praying someone knows how to listen to directions. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Just because it appears high class and they offer you drinks does not mean they have talent or that they have your best interest in mind. read more

Really wonderful place. The staff made me feel warm & welcomed. I believe I spoke with one of the owners & she was very kind. She gave off the feeling that this salon was an extension of her home. Phoebe was my stylist & she was excellent. I was going from longer hair to a much shorter bob. She talked with me before we started to discuss what I wanted & was trying to achieve with my haircut. After speaking with her, made me feel very relaxed & at ease that she knew what she was doing & that I was in good hands. She gave me a wonderful shampoo & scalp massage & talked to me about products but did not push them on me for make me feel obligated to buy them, which I greatly appreciated. I had my hair done by a young lady(whose name I will not mention) but clearly needs more training. I brought a picture in and she said it was no problem. I am from New Jersey and I have had it done many times like this. She said no problem . As soon as she started to blow it out I knew I was in trouble.She asked another operator to help her out but it was too late. What I asked her to do initially the second operator tried to do but to no avail,I left with a hair style that did not look professional but as if I walked off the beach. I tipped her because they did try but they need more training as they lack expertise. If you should decide to go make sure you know who to ask for or else you will look like me - horrible . The worst hairdo of my life. I couldn't wait to do it myself. This was the new shop on Pine Ridge Road. I made a mistake and gave it a star but it deserved no stars! read more

I've been in Naples for 4 years and always looking for a hair stylist and finally found it with Otto. My stylist in Ct is always educating her staff and it shows. She cuts my hair to my face and type of hair I have . So in the past I had to explain how she got body in thin straight hair. Not with Otto, he knew exactly how to shape it and give it body by cutting it correctly. A good stylist leaves you happy with the way it looks till you return 4-6 weeks later. So i have gone to this particular Hair salon about 3 times. I have a service dog and I was treated with so much respect and all the staff loved her and were respectful towards my service dog. I believe that the reviewer who posted her having a service dog with her friend either had poorly behaved dogs (Which is grounds for removal), or has an emotional support dog thinking its a service dog (emotional support animals do NOT have public access). As for the hair cut itself, I loved my haircut when I originally got it done. It looks not a good now after growing out a bit. I am pretty displeased with the Dying job though. I had originally wanted a pastel purple with different tones and got pink and purple streaks. Now don't get me wrong, my hair looked cool for 2 days until I washed it (In cold water with the shampoo & Conditioner I bought from them) and all the color was gone. Also just the hair dying was $500 & the Haircut was $300. The cut & color I got was not worth the money I paid. I had a terrible experience here. I did not get what I wanted and they made me feel very uncomfortable about it. They ripped me off for my money. Can you believe that I paid 380 dollars for coloring and didn't receive what I wanted! I had a consultation before my appointment and she went through what she was going to do, I took her advice. She's supposed to be the expert and looked at a photo of what I wanted. I won't get into details but basically she did a whole bunch of things she didn't need to do which were all extra charges or the most expensive option and the cool blonde hair I want ended up gold. However, I found a salon that addresses my aging hair and has better products from Italy that actually increase hair growth. Sometimes a great salon just isn't enough. I'm male, with a difficult head of curly hair. I called to schedule an appointment with a upper level stylist. This salon has 6 levels of stylists. The receptionist told me (exact words) "we don't put our upper level stylists with men. You can have our new talent, or level 1 or 2". So basically because I am male, i get put with the lower 50% automatically. Whoa. Then she said (exact words), "our stylists rankings are based upon their demand, not their experience." So I said, "So basically what you are telling me is your levels, which also dictate your pricing, are based upon popularity, not their talent?" She said, "Yes". If you are a male who appreciates a quality cut from a place that doesn't automatically discriminate based on your sex, and bases their rates on how good their stylists are, not their popularity (whatever that is), I would go elsewhere.. and I did. If you are female, feel assured that here you can choose a busy stylist, pay more, and not necessarily get a good cut. read more

The funny part about this negative review is that my wife was always 100% happy with the service and even went so far to insist that I go and get my haircut by her and refer other friends and family. I'm a little disappointed with my haircut--it's not terrible, but it's just not as good as what I'm used to. I also went here for a pretty expensive eyebrow wax and was disappointed with that as well. I think what bothered me the most was that I felt very pressured to buy their hair products at the end of my visit. I'm a push over, so I gave in and bought some very expensive shampoo. I had a HORROR story at another salon school the previous day, where they took all the blonde out of my hair with a toner and gave me mushroom brown hair. I had an appointment with Skyler, and upon telling him what happened, he completely understood and made my vision come to life through the inspiration picture I showed. This is the worst place ever. Thank god I didn't get my hair done there. I had a appointment with them on time. They made me waited like 25 minutes. Finally, I was pissed and decide to walk away. They sent the hair stylist named Thy (what a weird name) . He kept taking photos on her last client before me ( which her hair looks like a big mushroom and all burned.) I was very annoyed that he is late for my appointment and didn't even apologize. This is what coming next: I said I want partial highlights and hair cut. He was looking at the iPad and trying to show me sample picture. Then he told me " if he does my hair, it's going to be very very expensive and he doesn't feel like comfortable to do my hair. He said the price is at least around $500 !!!!I looked at him and feel like to punch him. I walked away and knowing immediately THIS PLACE is a ROBBING HOUSE! SUCH A SCAM!
