The executives running this company are either actively trying to drive itself into bankruptcy, or collectively had a stroke. I've genuinely never seen a corporation handle their business practice with less care. This store specifically has absolutely tanked itself into ground, and I can only assume is hanging by a thread, based on its abysmal customer service. Not only has Michaels continued to try to completely gaslight us into believing that they haven't removed all of the prices from their products, despite the fact that they literally removed all the prices from their products. But they had the audacity to remove all of the price checkers from the store as well, in an attempt to drive us into the dark on what anything we're purchasing actually costs. Let's think for a second how absolutely insane of a concept that is, because who in their right mind is picking up a product with absolutely zero reference to what it costs? But let's dive further into that asinine practice shall we? because two shopping trips ago, I went in looking for food storage tins for the holidays, but since I had absolutely no idea what they cost, only grabbed two. Only to find when I reached the register they were far less than I expected, and that had I had the privilege of knowing the price, I would've bought 10. So in an attempt to play games with their pricing, wound up losing additional sales. Not to mention that somewhere down the line, the decision was made to buy out Joanne fabrics and offer about 1/16 of their merchandise. But it gets better, because never in the time since this buyout occurred, has there ever been a human being standing at the station where the fabric is actually cut. So all of those adjustments to fit the three spools of thread and five fabric options that we have to choose from, was literally rendered useless by the lack of human employees available to you. Standing in line for upwards of 15 minutes, to reach self serve registers of which only half are working, to scan a product that may or may not be anywhere near what you feel it is worth, whilst being completely unable to remove said product should you be unwilling to pay that price, only to be left standing at said register, waiting for assistance while one of the four employees in the store makes continuous eye contact with you, well aware that you need help, but passes you by for the third time, is not in any way close to an experience any customer should be expected to tolerate. I think this company greatly underestimates how willing I am to leave every single item I was going to purchase at the register, and walking out of the store. I'm sure I wasn't the first, and I know I won't be the last. After 20 years of shopping here, and countless dollars spent, I raise my glass to whatever company is next in line to shut it down and replace it. read more

I've been to this store so many times so it's safe to say that I've encountered and engaged with nearly every bitter woman that works here. It's sad to see how cold people have become and how unprofessional. The fact that you can't even fake a smile at work is terrible. Theres people that still keep a smile on their face even when everything around them is falling apart. You certainly need to find a new place to work, no one wants to encounter nasty people. Was there to simply buy a balloon for my 3 year old son and the look I got from both employees was like I was an idiot, a look that was intentional one that was meant to make you feel small. I placed an order with custom framing. Renee a custom framer was wonderful. The item i ordered I felt was overpriced and of course no coupon was available until the next day after I placed my order. Now I am peppered with coupons daily. Today I tried calling to see if perhaps my order was ready (I was going to be in the store area 20 miles from my home). I am not sure why they have telephones in the store since no one ever answers them. I called customer service and they said they would contact me by email within one to two business days. This is in response to Dana's review, it should be the most recent below me. I was in line behind her and appalled at her behavior. I don't usually do this but I'm so embarrassed that I didn't speak up at the time. Dana: First, I would like to point out the inaccuracies in your review. When you reached the checkout stand, it was past 7:00, the time the store closes. I took note of the time because I was embarrassed that we were in line past close. Second, I noticed that in your review you neglected to mention that you admonished the workers for at least two straight minutes about how it's ridiculous that they're not experts on every item/craft in the store. The workers explained to you that in-depth knowledge is not part of their training, but you continued to admonish the manager for her unfamiliarity, rather than realizing that this issue of yours is out of her control. It was only after this continued torment that the manager correctly pointed out that she was "not a robot." Dana, I'm wondering if you've ever been to a store before. Do you walk into a grocery store and expect every employee to know the ingredients of every dish in the world? Do you want them to know off the top of their head what ingredients are required to make Chicken Tikka, and what ingredients are replaceable? Do you really expect the world to cater to you in such a way? Michaels must carry thousands of products adaptable for thousands of crafts. How can you expect someone to know every potential application of every product? Especially one that you said yourself that they do not carry in store. Dana, I just wanted to let you know that the one who made a fool of herself in front of a line of customers and the young lady with you tonight, was you. The way you treated the workers was dehumanizing and insulting. It makes me wonder if you've ever worked in your life. So I rushed to Michael's craft store with a list of items for summer crafts! Ive been going to this store for a very long time and typically I walk out satisfied with both my purchase and my customer service. But today was different. You have a huge tie dye section, with no soda ash. This feels like a basic need for this craft, I was bummed you don't carry. But when I went to ask. your staff, with my cart full of items, it was my last thing....I was met with dismissive answers and "were closing". (in 15 minutes) I went to checkout, the salesperson looked it up on her phone for me and told me it was sold online only. I had grabbed a couple bottles that looked like "prep for dye" but wanted to ask someone there if that was an alternative. I asked her if there was a manager, so the manager walked over. Her answer was, I don't know. I know nothing about tie dye, only baking. I said, you are managing the store and dont know about the products? She said "I'm human, not a robot" and " you can google it". I was tempted to walk out, but I kept calm and made my purchase. Your store manager not only doesn't know what shes doing, but she didn't even attempt to help a customer. And to be honest, made a fool of herself in front of a line of customers. My experience on Saturday June 22, 2024 was very pleasant. I stopped in to return a frame that did not fit the dimensions of my project. The cashier had excellent people skills and issued my refund. She then directed me to the rear of the store to discuss my issue with the staff in Framing. Three staffers converged to find a solution for me which was satisfactory and cost-efficient. I placed my order and the project will be completed within the next couple of days. Michael's of Brewster is the GO-TO place to meet all your artistic needs. I like taking long, romantic walks, down the Michaels aisles, AFTER I take similar walks down the Marshalls aisles next door. Seriously, if you're feeling happy, sad, crafty, crappy, you come to Michaels and it's like all of that kind of blurs away and disappears. Love that there's always a coupon, always a clearance always something going on when you come. Only thing I do wish is that they'd be fully stocked with things since things just seem to always be flying off the shelves lol! I really can't complain, it's one of my therapy stores, the young staff here is so amazing and hard working and creative. I LOVE Michaels and have always felt like whenever I had an artistic vision, they were always able to deliver on the tools I need to make it happen. This is my first time here at this location in Brewster, and I've got to say this has been a wonderful visit. They had a great promotion where you could get a pack of any size canvas by the front for $10.99 a pop. I was able to get ahold of around 20 canvases for $30. This was an amazing experience that I haven't seen at any of the other locations. I can't wait to crack everything open because these canvases were EXACTLY what I needed to get started some specific projects that I was thinking about. I was also able to find a small variety pack of clear Swarovski crystals which was perfect because I needed to fix a pair of flip flops that I had. I LOVE this store. read more

Standard Michaels store. The store has all the basic stock you'd find at a Michaels location. Everything was pretty organized, clean, and neat. The store looked god overall. I actually was looking for an employee to point me to something I was looking for and couldn't find one (only cashiers in the front, which had a line). Not sure about their hiring situation here, but not having one floor employee isn't a great thing. I was actually looking for someone for a while, but ended up finally finding what I was looking for eventually. Not a big deal, but just worth mentioning. Located in a shopping plaza, this store shares parking lots and land with several other businesses. Michaels is a good bet overall to find certain items you may need and this location is no exception. read more

I must say that the Michael Location in Brewster is the best. Steve the manager is always so accommodating and willing to go the extra mile, when I need something for a party or event. I needed something desperately and he personally brought the items from another Michael's store to this location in order to save the day. Paula always greets people with a smile and she truly understands good customer service. I can't say enough about Dan! He is always so friendly and I've never seen him without a smile, until he was forced to wear a facemask. Lol! But, having worked in consumer affairs, I can tell you, you can always hear a smile in someone's voice. He truly seems to love his job and I always tell him, he deserves a raise! The store is crowded, at times, and the lines can be long, as people have said , but of course there are lines from time to time. That is because the store is full of great merchandise and people are shopping! The staff has no control over that, but I can tell you they always do their best to keep the line moving. If the line is slow, it's because the staff members are giving each and every person individual service, which is what you would expect. Michaels employees are not only ringing up the merchandise, but they are also providing advice on craft projects and answering questions and concerns.. I personally find that very helpful, and is the reason why- I'm giving them five stars! Now we're faced with a pandemic and the same employees are there and willing to work and put themselves in possible harms way, in order to serve us! Came here shopping for my sisters wedding and the store had so much to offer! Johnny was extremely helpful. I had dropped a bunch of wooden boards and he came over, asked if i was okay before checking the merchandise. He said " I worry about the human being before anything". When I went in there I wanted to be in and out getting 2 things, I asked a person who was working there for directions so I could be quick. That person and another worker gave me attitude, and didn't know where anything was. It took me 30 mins to find the items i wanted to get and in the end I only found one item I needed. I love michaels, but I HATE going there. I use to go almost every week about a year ago. I got so tired of standing in line for a half hour when I only needed a couple things. Every single time there's only one cashier. Now I go in maybe once a month, and same thing. I usually go in on Friday nights, there should be more than one associate working the register on a Friday night, it's retail. Now I've been a retail manager for 10+ years, your customers are your biggest priority. This place looks like it's run by two associates every time I go in there, because I've never seen more than that at one time. I never write reviews for retail stores because I get it, shit happens. But today... today broke me. I ran in after work to get maybe 5 things. It's the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, you have 70% doorbusters, discounts for veterans, 20% off entire purchase deals. Why the hell is there only one associate at the register?!?! I waited 15 minutes for some crazy woman in front of me to go through all 50 of her items and pick what she wanted that was on sale from them. That poor cashier, I felt so bad for her. It took a customer in the 15 person line behind me to complain to just call someone for backup. And then someone came back from there break to help. I'm dumbfounded why management would have one freaking associate ringing on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend at 4:30pm during prime hours. Why do you have 6 registers when you only use one? It's ridiculous. This is why retail is dying, because next time I'll just buy it online so I don't lose years of my life waiting in line for craft supplies. Just recently I had a photo project to do. I was in a dilemma as to the kind of photo album and size pictures necessary to make it look nice. Since I had a lot of photos, supplies for extra inserts for the album were unavailable for purchase. Grace and Victor went way out of their way to help me.
