Rudest Customer Service EVER. If I could give a 0, I would, but since I can't - let me break it down for you. I've had the pleasure of visiting Michaels twice in the last two days - on both occasions, both left me cold. Yesterday, when I asked for help opening the locked glass cupboards where brush markers were kept - the cashier kept repeating "brush paints" - totally different thing and located in a different cupboard altogether - and when I corrected her for the third time.. she actually said "Yeah, or whatever" as I was walking away. I'm not deaf - and if you don't care about what I'm asking for, don't work as a salesperson, there isn't any need to be so rude. Today when I went back to exchange my art supplies (Thanks not-so-helpful salesperson who encouraged me to try out colors on a waxy piece of paper, how was I to know as a first timer with markers that the colors would be VERY different on the correct type of paper?) - I tried to explain that I had misplaced the receipt - was treated equally rudely. "Slide the credit card you think you used through NOW, no NOW, not that way. No I wasn't talking to you I was talking to someone else." and when he couldn't locate the receipt, my lovely cashier promptly handed the three pens back to me without saying anything. When I asked if it meant I couldn't exchange the pens he said "Yup. Next!" What the.... ??? -1000 points for customer service - your time is better spent buying ONLINE rather than giving these people any business whatsoever. read more

My friend and I go to this Michaels at least twice a week, and the workers there are really knowledgable/nice, they restock on sold out items quickly, and have fairly short lines. read more

I came into the store recently for a cupcake decorating class. The class was taught by Sandra. I was immediately impressed by how genuinely helpful, patient, and accommodating she was throughout the class. Sandra listened to and interacted with each student in a personalized way and made sure that we were equipped with the right tools and techniques to frost and decorate our cupcakes. Sandra also taught us how to pipe different designs, how to reach the right consistency for frosting, how to incorporate different colors into the bag to produce different effects, and how to creatively place adornments like pearls on our cupcakes. My experience with Sandra was so positive that I went to the store manager just to give compliments to Sandra on her work in the class. I checked the class schedule online and noticed that Sandra is not assigned to teach any other classes for the month, but if she is assigned in the upcoming months to teach cake decorating classes, I will return to the store!!! read more

If this is the Store next TJ Maxx on homestead, you need to brush up on your customer service. The "front end supervisor" didnt greet me , or say thank you or goodbye. I thought she is speech challenged or something. I'm sure your employees all speak English. Or maybe they talk to just the privileged few. Yukie and Trent were both helpful, considerate and realistic about what they could accomplish with my existing mat that I brought in to have the opening cut larger. The stock and cleanliness of this store is quite good but there's nothing worse than to be discriminated by a racist salesperson. She's an older white lady that works at the register with a bowl cut (average height, slightly round). This is who I'm going to be writing about today. During their grab box deal, I had planned on purchasing a box or two because who doesn't love surprises and deals? Anyways, I literally was in that area for 20 minutes picking up random boxes and trying to guess what was in there based on the weight of the boxes. I never open the boxes myself (because you're not supposed to, duh) but if they are already opened, of course I'll take a look to see what's already in there. I'm pretty sure this is normal behavior. Anyways, as I was standing there and analyzing one of the already opened boxes, this cashier marches up to me and in a condescendingly rude voice said "Ma'am, you can't take items from one box and put it in another". I asked her why she would tell me such a thing. Did she actually see me steal anything? Did she see me take items out of one box and put it in another? If I was going to commit theft and combine boxes, would I have stood there for 20 minutes shaking the boxes and trying to guess what was in there? Her response was "I'm just telling you that you can't do that". As a person of color, I know racism when I see it. I reported her to the store manager (Mario) who has excellent customer service skills (the reason this is not a one star review). I was so upset that I was shaking when I was recounting what just transpired. His gentle demeanor was incredibly calming and he assured me that he would talk to her about her wording for future customers. But honestly? I'm just not comfortable shopping at this location after this rude shopping experience. read more

I love this Michael's! They have a great array of scrapbooking materials, lots of yarn (including the Cotton Ease which is so comfy and you can't get at Joann's), and lots of themed baking related items. I bought a tray shaped like eggs and made mini egg-cakes for Easter. They have lots of shapes of cartoons too for cakes. I made a Mickey Mouse cake as well. I just came back and bought lots of stuff for decorating Halloween cupcakes and cookies. I'm not into fake flowers or custom framing, so I haven't paid much attention to those areas in the store, but for scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting, or for cute baking items, this is a great store! read more

Very well kept store located in a shopping plaza. I came here because I needed some supplies for a work project. Not a frequent shopper of Michaels so I needed a little help on where specific things. This review is specifically for the lovely Sandra!!! She's awesome!!! She had an answer for every question I had and even made suggestions so my project would be easier. Good selection and well stocked, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The staff is complacent and sometimes even downright rude. The manager doesn't help the staff but just stands around giving them orders. If they can't be happy working there they should at least try not to look so miserable. I did find what I wanted but had to wait in a short line for a long time. In the future I'm only going to this Michaels if the other ones in the area don't have what I need. read more

This review is for the framing shop. I brought in a fine poster to be framed there 2 weeks ago, as a gift for our son. I was excited about this poster and I knew it would turn out well. The end result was FAR better than I expected, because I was lucky enough to bring it to Michael's Cupertino and deal with a young woman named Taylor. Taylor saw my print and got terrifically excited about it. Her enthusiasm was infectious, all of a sudden I was even more excited than I had been. She made several wonderful suggestions to enhance the finish product. She has a framer's skill but more importantly an artist's eye. She had some strong opinions about colors and materials, but she wasn't pushy. I also had some strong opinions, and working together we created what has to be considered a masterpiece of framing! I am so thrilled with the final product! I am so lucky to have had Taylor at Michael's to help me! read more

Every time I come here, I have to wait in line for ages to check out. Weekends, weekdays, it doesn't matter. I end up waiting longer to pay than it takes to shop. I don't understand why that is and why they always seem so short-staffed that they can't open up another line when they see a long line. Makes shopping here incredibly frustrating. read more

I had to write this...Michaels is a lalaland kinda place for me, but every time I came into this store, I've witnessed or experienced very unpleasant customer service by this gentleman (I believe he's the manager of the store)!!! Today I walked in to make a return and realized the big stack of colorful cardstock I was returning was $2. I haven't realized the price when I bought it as it was part of a very big list of things I bought. I remarked and then explained that I am pleasantly explained. But this guy was like "you are only given the money you paid" (duh!!!!) and despite my explanation that it's a pleasant surprise on the pricing, not the returned dollar amount, he lectured me "to go home and compare my upc numbers to see that I am being refunded the amount I paid and I should be aware that I will only get back what I paid.....yada yada...." Well lit, well supplied, clean and organized. The new store is a nice improvement to what it used to be before: cluttered, dark, narrow aisles and a maze. It's a great place for your one-stop shopping needs for arts and crafts, but I find that their supplies aren't always of good quality... the yarn I've bought to knit with frays, the beads that they have to make jewelery with are kinda cheapy and plastic... which is probably not their fault... they may be targeting to a more mainstream audience. If I'm looking for beginner kits or cheap do's, then I think Michael's is a good place to go to... but I like to knit a lot, and I like to bead a lot, so I think I need to yelp more for those specialty art stores :P read more

I have become a addict for crocheting so when I go to a store I really enjoy a HUGE selection of colored yarn. I needed to pick up some green yarn to make my friend a scarf for her birthday and I must say I was NOT impressed. In fact I was disappointed that they didnt even have basic greens haha. I picked out my various yarns and my new needles ONLY to get declined on my card.. and for what reason.. because someone tried to charge 3 grand and it was a fraudulant charge.but my bank DIDNT notify me.. maybe thats why im so bitter with this store.. ill have to revisit in a few weeks and give it another review.. haha read more

A recent weeknight visit to this place left a good impression on me. Michael's can at times be such a mess, especially on the weekends. This location had things all lined up and neatly arranged. The staff were very helpful, especially the cashier. Of course, handing me some discount coupons helped me feel good about the place too. Much like eating several tiny slices of cake will not make you fat, buying a million junky items from Michael's fabulous dollar aisle will not put you into debt. The holiday selection is pretty good - sadly,they already have their Halloween things on display. They have old-fashioned candy (Mallow Cups? Chocolate drops?) in the Bermuda-Triangle check-out area (yes, I do need a Betty Boop keychain and a bag of Twizzlers with my 10,000 $1 memo pads). I wish their needlepoint selection was a little better ... or is it just that every needlepoint kit has a design featuring some horrific combination of giant flowers, kittens and rainbows? read more

I don't like the fact that Michael's is about the only arts & craft store in the Bay Area (there's Beverly's and other stores, but Michael's is like the McDonald's of art stores, lol). I came in today looking for some art brushes, but unfortunately they were sold out of what I was looking for. So I ended up walking around the store. I found some awesome art sets (pastel, charcoal & acrylic paints with drawing pads or canvas) on clearance (originally $9.99, on clearance for $4.99). I thought that was a pretty good deal. So when I got to the registers, the art sets range up as $0.99!!! Holy Smokes! I had told the women, "Are you sh*tting me?!". So I ended up leaving the store with over 12 art sets, 4 brush sets and random sketch books & tools. I would have spent about $200 but I walked out of there spending about less than $40! Whoop-Whoop! Never underestimate those clearance signs & don't be scared to ask the sales associate to check how much it is. 5 star rating for a great clearance selection! read more

I love Michael's. It always has a wide variety and just about anything you could need for any craft. This particular store is very clean and organized and I love going in there. The staff for the most part are friendly, but I have to say they aren't the happiest bunch I've ever seen. The cashiers' attitudes are usually "blah blah blah" and they couldn't care less if I was there. read more

they have the WORST customer service here, and the service is from the manager, DAISY, herself! i came in with a coupon, and wanted to use it on multiple items. the coupon does not state it is only 1/customer but she insisted i couldn't use it on multiple items. i asked her to read the coupon i provided and she refused. she said she knows the coupon is only for 1/customer. i told her there is no where on the coupon that states that. but she was being very difficult and refused to read it. she would glance at it n say it says so right there. n i asked her, where? but she wouldn't even look at it. at one point, she was screaming and pointing her finger at me. i truly hope corporate can pull up the cameras and take appropriate actions for this. i don't feel that any customer should be treated this way. so since i was with my girlfriends, i said fine, we will just buy 3 items then. she refused for me to give them my credit card to pay, even though it is not the same card i used for myself. so i wanted to give them cash n she demanded it be from their purse. i feel my rights as a human being have been severely violated. but of course this is not worth me paying a lawyer over. if michaels don't take appropriate actions, this only tells me they condone such behaviors and it speaks volume to the company as a whole. furthermore, i called corporate to inquire about the coupon and they said it does not restrict 1/customer and i should be able to buy multiple items. Daisy, i suggest you change your personality/behavior. as loved ones will leave you, employers will fire you, customers will hate you, and heaven will deny you. read more

Misleading cash register signs. I stood in line to do returns are only to find out when I got to the register that there was one line for both. If it was one line for both than why do they have a "Customer Care" sign?? I was so irritated because I could have been standing in the right line instead of starting at the end. Completed a transaction which involved a glitch in the machine that ended up with the store owing me money (more than $5). Did not realize this until I got home later that night. Worked with the store manager Brittany to resolve it, and it went smoothly and quickly! Did not have to jump through a bunch of hoops. Given the busy holiday rush, Brittany was still so pleasant and accommodating! It makes a difference when encountering situations like these! read more

Ages ago while going to college I had a part time job helping people mat and frame their pictures. We measured, cut, assembled the entire picture frame. We were customer focused and enjoyed helping people put their treasures into a new context. Fast forward to 2019, Michael's framing department on the day of Halloween. I find a frame, walk up to the counter. Two employees in Halloween outfits are in the back. I can see them. They are talking, but not doing much of anything else. When one of them finally comes out, there is a distinct lack of enthusiasm. I have a frame in my hands and I have an old frame with a picture in it. I want to move the picture to the new frame. There are just a few tiny screws in the back of the old frame. "Oh," I'm told, "That will take a work order and you won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow." Seriously. The clerk clearly had nothing better to do at that moment and it would have taken less than 5 minutes to unscrew the screws and then place the already matted picture in the new frame. That did it for me. Adios, Michaels. My next visit to a framing department will be elsewhere. read more

I hate Michael's. It's craft chaos. This location is particularly awful. The store is a mess and the "service" is nonexistent.

Just had a real framer look at one of my pieces that was framed at Michaels. In spite of the fact that it was supposed to be archivally framed, they used permanent ATG tape to mount the art to the backer board. Either they are incompetent or actively dishonest. Either way, I strongly urge you to avoid Michaels for anything more valuable than a poster. read more

We just returned from Michael's picture framing department. We weren't sure what to expect, so we started by getting advice on the framing of two small pictures. Thomas, presented many mat and framing options. Plus, he gave his opinions without being pushy. Since the experience with the small pictures was exceptional, we took in another larger and more expensive picture. Couldn't have been more pleased with the service and expertise offered. A bonus is the software they use. It gives you an idea of what the finished product will look like. We'll definitely return to Michael's Cupertino to have more of our art work framed, and we'll ask for Thomas. read more
