I needed a small spray bottle to hold a bleach solution for cleaning. I made the long drive to this Michael's location in Davie to see if they had what I was looking for. I haven't visited Michael's in a long time - not since my kids were in elementary school needing certain items for school projects. The store was large, clean, and well-organized. Hold up! Michael's sells helium balloons now?! Wow, this place has evolved into more than just a DIY craft store. With my stomach grumbling, I didn't feel like walking aisle by aisle looking for the spray bottle. I approached a store employee and asked where I could find small spray bottles. The employee checked two aisles, then asked another employee for assistance. I ended up finding a small 2-pack spray bottle for $4.99. The employee came with a spray bottle a bit bigger than what I found, but there was no sticker price on it. I thanked the employee for his help and took both items to checkout for a price check. A female employee provided customer service near the self-checkout. Although the 2-pack spray bottles were on sale online, Michael's does not honor online prices in-store. The employee did a price check on the bigger spray bottle, which was $3 less than the smaller ones. I made my payment on the large self-checkout screen. I didn't notice it then, but closely looking at the picture I took, the screen at self-checkout not only has a camera locked on your face, but also on the items you're scanning. read more

A great location at the Tower Shops in Davie FL. Parking is tight sometimes with all the surrounding restaurants. All the isles are full of merch and are neatly stacked. This location has everything a person would need for arts and crafts projects, teaching and student supplies. Discounts posted storewide including some clearance items. Ive also seen item online then gone to the store only to be told they dont even carry that item... so at times this can be somewhat frustrating.. esp when the need is time sensitive. That said if youre looking for something specific that you need quickly.. either call them directly to confirm.. or maybe try another location first... Shoppers can find arts, crafts, framing, floral and wall décor, and merchandise for home decorators. I don't really think of myself as a crafter but I have been here many times through the years to shop for supplies for my daughter's school projects. All of the aisles are clearly marked making it easy to find what you need. These days I find myself stopping in for their charming home decor or during the holidays for decorations. Love Michael's. The one item that I usually look for is the scented jar candle. I found some Honey / Vanilla scented jars for $2.49. That's a great deal, especially when you can spend almost $20 for other name brand candles that smell pretty much the same. The lady at the register was very helpful and nice and the store is clean and well organized. Love this store for all kinds of reasons , such as decorating , framing art, and crafts of all kind. I went in today because my necklace of semi precious stones broke and I needed more beads to complete the lost stones. I did not find it at this store but all the other stones and beads were well stocked. Look for the coupons that's when you really get a good deal. Parking is ample. I have shopped and reviewed this store several times. Here's an update from my recent visit. My daughter had a Life Science project to complete and needed supplies. Michaels is usually the first point of contact for us, so I went and perused the aisles for what I needed. I went up and down the corridors too many times trying to find things where they would logically be located, yet they were not. I finally found an associate and she was helpful, even while having another associate talking in her ear through their equipment, but finding my items was still not easy peasy. I was also sticker shocked to see how expensive foam balls are these days! The one we needed was $20. Even with a 50% off one item coupon, my little trip was costly. And for the sake of perspective, I had just bought a Wilson volleyball in another store for $8!! Nevertheless, this store is overall one that I continue to shop in and hope it will improve. After all, making shopping more affordable and effortless should be every retailers continuous goal. read more

The store's stock was full. They are enforcing social distancing. All employees are wearing masks and gloves. Guests are required to wear a mask as well. The store was clean and brightly lit. Everything was stocked and in its place. I needed help and had no problem finding an employee to help me. All the employees I had contact with were absolutely happy to be at work and happy to provide any help needed. Check out line had 2 people ahead of me and it only took a few minutes to get through the line and out of the store. Their hours are the same as they were before we got shut down. There was plenty of parking close to the store. I highly recommend for all your craft needs. They also have a few things for school related activities. Check them out! I don't frequent craft shops a whole lot, but I needed a replacement frame for an odd size picture (12x20 inch) that I have. The Michael's in Sunrise/Plantation is closer, but the few experiences I had there were not great. This store is conveniently located in a strip mall with lots of other great shops like Trader Joe's. I really just needed the frame, but I browsed the whole store. In addition to the typical craft shop items, they also have a limited amount of home decor. There seemed to be a lack of staff on the floor, I would assume this is a place where people would have questions or need advice about what to buy for their projects. I browsed the frame section, which is huge, and I was a bit overwhelmed. I did eventually find what I wanted for under $12. If you need frames, this should be your second stop after Walmart (which will be a lot less). They do have the professional framing section, but it's quite costly. Prices here are a bit on the high side, but they do have sales on a variety of items. I came in here mid-day on a weekday, the store wasn't too crowded, but the line to checkout was long. read more

I rarely shop here but what is only because I am not into arts and crafts. I usually come here for frames. They have a large selection of frames in the back of the store. They also have custom framing if you cannot find the correct size. Michael's also has a large variety of decorations for every occasion and holiday. You can even get wedding invitations here! Over the years, I have purchased many decorations for holidays. The quality is not cheap but the prices are! The staff is usually very helpful and always willing to help. My intentions for stepping in this store has always been for frames. The decorations or other items were because I found them by browsing throughout the store. Michael's also has some amazing sales and coupons. If you sign up for their emails, they send you like 8 a day (not exaggerating) but some coupons are 70% off! The staff is really good with helping you obtain the best prices as possible and try to get you all the discounts possible. I like that. Most places do not care and are not willing to go that extra mile. The staff is always friendly and professional, which I also enjoy. read more

If you've been to one Michaels, you've been to them all, right? Note: if you have an electronic coupon, have it ready before you go in. Every time I'm in line, all the Blue Hair's in front of me have issues pulling their coupons up on their smart phones. Have them ready, it'll save time. All of their clearance is in the back left-hand corner. That's where I head to. The store is clean and the staff is nice. If you like crafting, then this is the store for you. As for me, I get excited about the idea of crafting and love browsing the aisles for ideas, but ultimately I'm too lazy to craft. The main reason that Michaels did not earn a fifth star from me is due to finding many items that were misplaced and the floor looked like it hadn't been mopped in a while. Otherwise, it's a great store. I visited this store in early November and the Christmas items were already 40% off. I wasn't planning on getting holiday items yet, but the selection and sales were too good to pass up. Also, I seriously considered taking up crafting as I passed through the paint and marker aisle. Clean store! Friendly staff. Each time I have been here I see staff members walking around stocking shelves and available to answer questions! This past trip there was one item I had a question about & she walked all the way to the back to show me! She was extremely pleasant! Screenshot your coupons prior to arrival so you just pull up your photo album and then have them scan it at the register. It seems most people in front of me don't have coupons so I hold my phone out so the cashier can scan my coupon for them. Customer is grateful & cashier is cool about it. Always something on sale which is good, but I prefer regular price so I can use my 40% or 50% coupon!! I've taken a cake decorating class here a long time ago so I'm partial to this particular location. The only reason stuff would be out of place is when people don't put it back where they found it! So many crafts to choose from! You definitely go in for one thing and come out with a few other goodies! As I work on a Halloween costume, I've had the need to visit a couple of Michael's stores. This visit took place on a Thursday about 4:30pm. First, in comparison to the last store visited on a Saturday, this was much quieter which was great being that I had no clue where anything was. I made an initial tour of the store but didn't find what I needed so like last time, I decided to find assistance. Unlike last time, there was an employee to be found. This is good. As I approached him, he was very intent on stocking / straightening a shelf.... not really sure. He didn't seem very interesting in helping and actually sent me to the wrong isle after telling me he didn't think they carried my item. After some more wandering, I found a substitute item. I wasn't in the mood to shop so I made my way to the cashier. Considering the store was quiet, there were two lines open so the wait was not long. The cashier was very friendly and efficient so I was out the door in little time. I recommend knowing what you want from the vast selection of "artsy" needs as the service is limited even when they are not busy. Happy shopping. read more

I am a beginner artist and when Bastian greeted me at the front counter he was very welcoming and knowledgeable about different sketch kits and which one I should buy according to my level in art. An impressive assortment of well-maintained stock but there are never enough cashiers at the store. Time and again there is a backed up line where the sole cashier is simultaneously answering incoming calls and speaking through a headset to another employee. It's poor customer service. It's not the fault of the cashiers who are nice folks, but management needs to staff better. read more

Michael's is an oldie but a (sort of) goodie for me that has recently started to let me down. I remember coming to this chain when I was a crafty little kid with my grandma when it used to be called JB Designs. This specific store used to be fine, until the Hobby Lobby moved in across the street and stole my heart. Aside from the obvious little brother complex that would be going on if I were this store (which is apparent since they rearranged the entire place since I was last here a few months ago), it's obvious that the store really lacks in service. There are 2 types of people who work here it seems. The first is older ladies who love crafts and are just looking to get out of the house for a few hours a week. These are the ones who I would track down in the store to ask what's a good size crochet hook to use for a particular yarn, because THEY KNOW. The other type is the crabby 20 or 30 something female who is just looking for SOME KIND OF EMPLOYMENT and is not happy about it. They will have a resting bitch face like no other, not know anything about items, placement in the store, and work at a glacial speed-because it won't get them off work any faster if you get out of the store quickly. In addition, I went in this store recently only because Hobby Lobby was closed (it was Sunday and I needed a button) and the entire layout of the store had been turned upside down. Before, I could have gone in, found my button and thread, and left within 3 minutes. But no, it took me 10 to find what I needed. Because buttons don't make sense to put with thread, no-they make sense to put near yarn. Then when you get up to the checkout line you know there will inevitably be an old lady in front of you trying to pay for fabric in pennies and trying to find her coupon on a phone she doesn't know how to work or digging in her purse for the crumpled paper one. When the cashier asks for your email for coupons-LIE and say you get them anyway. Never has somewhere I shop at so infrequently spammed me so much. These guys quickly made it into my Unroll me app, and if I need a coupon I ask the cashier and they give me one anyway. I don't shop much here anymore, sadly I have been converted to the folks over at Hobby Lobby for my random crafting needs. Not because of their religious nature, but because they have a crap ton more stuff and much nicer of staff. But this store suffices when needed. read more

I have such a love/hate relationship with this store. I have a creative side that's currently repressed under law books, and each time I walk in here it screams to be let out with every aisle I walk down. There's never a shortage of inspiration, and frequently even a sense of being overwhelmed by the options that are within the walls of Michael's. I recommend knowing what you want when you go in.. or having the time to figure it out while you're there, which in my experience at least, can take a while to narrow down. Today for example, I went in with a great and specific idea for a project for my love for Valentine's Day (a pretty simple and somewhat cliche "love" sign on burlap, with his home state of Texas standing in for the "o") but walked out with the items for a completely different version of this project. I think I upgraded the project a bit though, I have to admit. TBD! Anyway, I made the dire mistake of walking in without pulling up my coupon (as suggested in a previous review) and therefore didn't even try when I was at the register because not only do the blue hairs have problems, but myself and anyone else I've seen trying do too. The cell service in here is terribly slow (thanks to Sprint or the concrete walls, I'll let you be the judge). Anyway, thankfully I wasn't making any large purchases, otherwise I would've walked back outside to download the ever-valuable coupons that are showing up in my inbox. If you shop here more than a couple times a year for ANYTHING I would recommend signing up for the emails. Seriously, you get about one coupon a week and on the weeks where you actually use it, it does pay off. Also, on the website you can choose not to get the emails, but then remember to log in to download/print any coupons posted for the store before you go in (I would never remember to do this, so I deal with the weekly email and usually remember to at least electronically "grab" the coupon before walking in..usually while sitting in my car in the parking lot last minute). You'' definitely make those coupons worthwhile if you keep this place in mind for some of the more random things they have such as large indoor fake trees, tall corner-type vases (I've purchased two for my apartment, both around $60 each, but both I used a 40% coupon on - score!). The staff here is usually very nice and helpful, typically if they can't answer a question they will find someone more senior and crafty, who can! The store is generally clean and well kept too. I mean, the glitter everywhere is part of the ambiance, people! ..kidding. Also, I've never had any issues with them accepting coupons. It is true that MOST of the coupons that you see are not applicable to sale items, but be sure to read carefully because they do (seemingly more recently too, hooray) occasionally send out a 20% entire purchase INCLUDING sale items. Those are typically for a certain day or weekend, so read carefully and make 'em worth it! read more

I received a Michaels ad in the mail with coupons. One was 25% off of any 1 item including sale items and the other was 40% off any 1 regular priced item. I needed a scrapbook/photo album and figured it was the perfect time to go. The store, like most is decked out with Christmas stuff immediately after Halloween. Thanksgiving/fall decor is scarce. I perused the aisles to see if I needed anything else and noticed a lot of items "on sale". I thought some of their sale prices, should have been regular prices- at least what I would be willing to pay for crafts/decor. I located large candles (similar to Yankee) which were priced 3 for $10. I picked up one since they usually last a long time. Then I looked at scrapbooks. They were also on sale for $19.99. When I got to the cashier, I asked if I could use the 40% coupon and she politely said no. I searched for my 25% coupon and pulled it out but then she pointed the date had passed 2 days earlier. Same ad, 2 coupons for the same week but 2 different expiration dates- sneaky! So I grabbed my card to pay but felt somewhat disappointed that I took the time to cut the coupons- something I rarely do and I did not even get a chance to use them! I must have verbalized it and the cashier said, "we're the only store to have coupons people can't use because everything is always on sale!" Well played Michaels. Lure customers in with coupons. Have everything "on sale" and get people to believe they're getting a good deal. I think I may take my business to Hobby Lobby or JoAnn. read more

I like to visit this store whenever i might need to find special arts and crafts supplies I can only find here. The store is kept neat and organized to allow things to be easily found. They also offer many coupons deals that you can use to definitely save you some money. The employees are always very nice whenever I walk in and checking out. I went here to have a picture and a canvas oainting framed. The work was done fine but no one has a smile for you or a helpful personality. There's no offer to help take the extra large pictures to your car (after you've spent a fortune). Michaels has very small carts that you can't even take to the parking lot. I was just in this store and as they closed, the employees begin to chatter aloud how they are ready to go home and the customers need to hurry up. They then proceed to turned off the lights while the store is full of customers and employees are yelling at customers who are coming into the store at "closing" when their hours are posted incorrectly online.
