It is hard to state in words how much of a jerk Michael of Michael's deli truly is. I don't know how he came to be, but I have never in all my life come across such an unpleasant man. He is rude, mean, cold, obnoxious and outright evil. My opinion of him is based on 10-12 visits to his deli in the past year, as well as multiple other encounters told to me by others. Rumor has it that he was kicked out of the Marlboro because of how much of a jerk he was. The following excerpt will truly describe who he is... He strategically hides his "cash only" sign in a corner that allows new customers to approach the cash register unaware (after 10 minutes in line), yet still allows him to point at it in utter disgust as he moves on to the next customer, without pause. I hate him. That being said his deli meats are delicious and I have never had a bad meal there. New york style sandwiches at a Boston price. This was the WORST experience. We'll never go again and will warn everyone else not to go there either. My husband ordered the food "to go" and then our young kids changed their mind and wanted to eat there. Michael came out and yelled at us for eating there and stated there was a different price for eating there or ordering "to go." When my husband apologized and offered to pay the difference, Michael just ranted on and said, "No, that's why I asked you TWICE." After that, we felt so unwelcome that my elderly mother said we should just leave. We certainly didn't deserve to be treated that way, especially since we apologized and offered to pay the mystical "different price." He must enjoy forcing a family with young kids and a disabled mom out of his restaurant because he was was not the least bit remorseful. I'll never take my family or friends there EVER again. Unsanitary, Rude owner, Overpriced... i recently had the unpleasant experience of meeting the owner Michael who explained his upcoming vacation to Asia was in order to meet a girl who he had proudly displayed a picture of at the register .... i thought it creepy and weird .... as i decided on my sandwich choice i watched him berate an turn his back on the customer in front of me .... the deli's floor had not been washed an the meat case was surrounded by mesh to prevent the public from seeing the vermin. such a lovely neighborhood with better choices in food ... the claim to fame of this diner are pictures of the owner and celebrities who have never stepped foot in the place ... i wonder if they are aware he is utilizing their pictures in such a way ... anyway... shame on you michael... time to grow up, clean up and date within your age and country of origin ~ i was disgusted and would not return read more

This deli lost my business. Don't go if you want no respect. They are not people friendly and very expensive. The food is not that great either. I ordered chicken noodle soup and it tasted like it was in the refrigerator for 8 months. The guy with white hair is rude and has no respect and dignity for me as a customer. He refuses to cut roast beef and instead shows me pre cut meat already cut and tells me when there is a line i won't cut it. Do your job jerk. You there to work or please your self? We pay 18 dollars for a bag of chips, soda, two low (Cheapo Serving) mostly broth amount 1/2 pint soups and old cut roast beef. I got a stomach ache after i left. Hate this place. read more

I was in Boston this last weekend for a wedding, my first time back in more than a decade. When my family (grandfather on down) all lived in Brookline we would visit the B&D deli - it was the standard, and one of my fondest memories. We found Michael's Deli while taking a walk through the old neighborhood and it was everything I'd been missing for years. The Reuben is great, the pickled tomatoes are perfect, and the pastrami knish is otherworldly good. Hands down the best deli food I've had on any of the three coasts. Oh, this is a really nice place... My favorite is the Rachel (hey, I prefer ladies) over the Reuben. Michael's Deli is so simple, not much in the way of seating or decoration, in some ways I think it makes the food taste better.
