These five stars go right to Soleil, the awesome Michael's employee who made my experience there this evening so awesome! This goes to show managers and corporate that GREAT employees are what drive the customer experience. I've been to this Michael's in the past and never had such a great experience, because no one went out of their way to help me, as Soleil did this evening. I was walking around, very confused, trying to find items to help me make games for a SpongeBob birthday party for a child. I have never done such a project, so I was overwhelmed. I had not asked anyone for help, but Soleil came over to me and very kindly asked if I needed anything. She proceeded to go out of her way to make suggestions on how I could make a SpongeBob crabby patties with felt... and as the store began to close, she offered to go across the store to grab my scissors, needle and thread, and even stuffing! The entire time, she was beyond friendly, genuine, and kind. As I was trying to hold too many things and move towards the cash register, she even offered to push my basket! I've never had any employee at any store be so kind! When I went to check out, the cashier was very sweet, and the manager went out of her way to smile, ask if I needed anything else, and facilitate me getting a ruler at the last minute. Clearly, great management and great employees. Please give Soleil a raise! :)

I was surprised at the bad reviews this Michael's location. The times I've had to ask for help or had questions, that employee would be very helpful. I came in to Michael's looking for some cake decorating supplies. There was a specific set I wanted. They did not have any out on the shelves. I guess I got lucky because a supervisor or manager ended up helping me out. Not only did she spend about ten minutes looking for the set but she gave me a 50% off coupon to use. I truly appreciated it since the set was not cheap! Like any Michael's the check out lines can get ridiculously long but, there really isn't a way to change that. For some odd reason it just so happens that all the customers in the store want to check out at the exact same time. Go figure.

I actually like this location a lot better than Vista, and Oceanside. It's more spacious, the aisles seem to be larger, walking through aisles seem to be easier, if someone is in the same aisle as you, you can pass them without invading their space. It seems very well organized here, and few different items for clearance/sale are offered here. Checkout counters are located right by the entrance, but the good thing with them facing the store is the employees can look at everyone/everything in general.

You pick out the unfinished piece you want, gather your paint and supplies from the shelf, and then spend a couple hours painting them and turn them in for final firing. The pieces are priced reasonably -- it includes all supplies and the final firing. My friend chose a mug that holds a cookie on the bottom and decided to transform it into a likeness of her pug dog-- see the photo... Mine was much more tame-- I picked out a small geometric vase and ended up painting it an ombre shade of an earthy purple. The selection was low the day we painted, but on the day we picked up the selection was plenty with well stocked shelves. Brushes and cups of water are already neatly set up at the tables. The only thing you have to do is get your paint in the bottled containers. Little hands may need assistance with this or leave it to the adults to prep the paint dish. I really like the space in the Art Cafe. There is plenty of room between each table. It may be different with more customers (we were the only ones on this weekday visit). But even then, I think there is more plenty of space you don't have to worry bumping into someone. I find all ceramic cafes to be a bit pricey but this is something to do once in awhile. I find it therapeutic and I love to watch the kids paint and be creative with their piece. Great bonding time with someone or good, quiet creative time for just yourself. Go check them out.

Super fun and lowkey therapeutic which was exactly what we needed. The staff were awesome, super friendly, and walked us through everything step by step. We got to pick our own vessels and scents which was honestly the best part. I mixed mango coconut and pineapple together and it smelled so good! We threw some glitter into the soy wax mix because obviously we had to and we even got to design our own labels which turned out so cute. The candle needed an hour to cool so we went off and explored the area and then came back to top them off with some stones. They turned out so pretty omg! The price was worth it! Oh and since I was giving mine as a gift one of the staff members tied a little ribbon on my bag without me even asking which was such a sweet touch. I chose a small sushi plate ($38) and ended up spending 3 hours choosing the colors, chatting and painting. When I arrived, it looks like the event was going on during regular business hours open to the public and not private which made it difficult to tell who was participating in the actual event. Since it was my first time there, I thought the staff would give me a brief rundown after checking in and paying... instead, I was left to figure it out until I finally had to ask what's the protocol here. That rubbed me the wrong way! I also noticed the staff had their friends there too and it was a distraction instead of staff being attentive to customers especially new ones. Another staff came in a bit later and started to interact with us and provided the information I wanted to hear from the very start. She seemed more seasoned than the other staff I encountered earlier. She really turned things around and this event ended up to be not bad at all. She actually saved this review from being a 1-star.
