These five stars go right to Soleil, the awesome Michael's employee who made my experience there this evening so awesome! This goes to show managers and corporate that GREAT employees are what drive the customer experience. I've been to this Michael's in the past and never had such a great experience, because no one went out of their way to help me, as Soleil did this evening. I was walking around, very confused, trying to find items to help me make games for a SpongeBob birthday party for a child. I have never done such a project, so I was overwhelmed. I had not asked anyone for help, but Soleil came over to me and very kindly asked if I needed anything. She proceeded to go out of her way to make suggestions on how I could make a SpongeBob crabby patties with felt... and as the store began to close, she offered to go across the store to grab my scissors, needle and thread, and even stuffing! The entire time, she was beyond friendly, genuine, and kind. As I was trying to hold too many things and move towards the cash register, she even offered to push my basket! I've never had any employee at any store be so kind! When I went to check out, the cashier was very sweet, and the manager went out of her way to smile, ask if I needed anything else, and facilitate me getting a ruler at the last minute. Clearly, great management and great employees. Please give Soleil a raise! :)

I was surprised at the bad reviews this Michael's location. The times I've had to ask for help or had questions, that employee would be very helpful. I came in to Michael's looking for some cake decorating supplies. There was a specific set I wanted. They did not have any out on the shelves. I guess I got lucky because a supervisor or manager ended up helping me out. Not only did she spend about ten minutes looking for the set but she gave me a 50% off coupon to use. I truly appreciated it since the set was not cheap! Like any Michael's the check out lines can get ridiculously long but, there really isn't a way to change that. For some odd reason it just so happens that all the customers in the store want to check out at the exact same time. Go figure.

I actually like this location a lot better than Vista, and Oceanside. It's more spacious, the aisles seem to be larger, walking through aisles seem to be easier, if someone is in the same aisle as you, you can pass them without invading their space. It seems very well organized here, and few different items for clearance/sale are offered here. Checkout counters are located right by the entrance, but the good thing with them facing the store is the employees can look at everyone/everything in general.

The shop isn't open every day, and while part of me wishes it were, it actually makes catching it open feel like a treat. It turns a simple supply run into something I look forward to. My first visit was just to browse. I picked up a few skeins from the discontinued/orphan bin and some fun extras for a crocheter friend. The selection immediately stood out -- this isn't big-box store yarn. The fibers are higher quality and much more enjoyable to work with. On my second visit I purchased a beautiful wool/alpaca blend hank for fingerless gloves. Carol balled the yarn for me and then taught me how to split it into two equal balls for my project. The concept honestly confused me at first, but she explained that you divide by weight rather than yardage -- and suddenly it clicked. One of those "aha" moments you remember later. Shortly after, I returned for two more hanks of the same yarn. Carol again walked me through using the swift and ball winder. I even sat at the big studio table ripping out a glove... twice... while she patiently taught two young students to crochet. Watching her explain foundation chains and rows made it clear she isn't just a shop owner -- she's a gifted teacher. Most recently, I brought in gloves I was struggling to finish. She patiently explained the construction in a way my brain could actually process and showed me an alternate method that achieved the same result but was much easier to understand. That kind of support is priceless. Carol consistently shows kindness, patience, and deep knowledge of fiber arts. The shop also carries a huge variety of patterns for knitters and crocheters at every skill level. Parking can feel confusing the first time, but it's easy once you know: there's a lot behind the building -- enter via the driveway to the left of the neighboring house -- plus plenty of street parking. As long as the shop is open, I'll keep coming back. This place feels less like a store and more like a fiber community.

If she hadn't helped me, I would never have been able to figure out how much yarn I needed for my projects! It will be my go-to from now on, as I live close by.

They actually have two separate stores, one dedicated to canvas and one just for thread. Everyone there is helpful and kind, and the owner, Vicky, is especially knowledgeable. I think she may be misunderstood in some reviews. She's not overly bubbly, but she is absolutely not unkind, just straightforward and very good at what she does. The only downside is that they're only open on weekdays with pretty limited hours. Otherwise, I truly think this LNS should be on everyone's list to visit!

After that I went to pick threads next door and when I got them all I asked if they are honoring the same price as their website for the canvas and was told "I don't know what it is online". It was about $30 cheaper so I set about finding it on the website and was told "you came knowing what you want" and after I as on the website for a few minutes suddenly she was able to figure out the online price. It's no small amount of money for needlepointing and to feel like your bothering someone when spending your money is offensive at best. I'll go to Navy Noo in San Marcos moving forward, it was a night and day experience there
