I have used Michael's in the past, so when I had a funeral coming up, in Simi Valley, I figured I would use them again. There was one caveat: Michael's does not open for business until 10 am, and the funeral was scheduled to begin at 10 am. Naturally, I would need the flowers there early. So, I phoned the flower shop, 4 days before the funeral, to see if they could take care of this, and they indicated that they could. So, I placed the order, with instructions to have the flowers delivered an hour before service time, left them a tip for making special arrangements, and after following up with them on the day of the service, they indicated that the flowers had been delivered at 9 am. What knocks stars off of this order is that the gal I spoke with came across as insolent. First she called me, after I placed the order, to ask me what time the service starts, even though I had provided the phone number for the church as reference. She made a comment to me, along the lines of "your order doesn't say the service time on it". I felt this was a sanctimonious way to speak to a customer, especially considering that all she had to do was phone the church and ask them what time the service started, and coordinate delivery based on that. I see no reason to bother me with this inquiry. Next, I received confirmation at about 20 minutes to noon, on the day of the service, which lead me to believe that this is when the flowers got delivered. So, when I called to inquire, the (presumably same) gal from before asked me how she could help, after I identified myself. I started telling her about having placed an order and it needing to be delivered an hour before 10, and before I even finished talking, she just INTERRUPTED ME, without excusing herself, to tell me that she knew what my arrangement was and that it was to a church. I thought this was rude of her, since she cut off a customer when they were still speaking. She then went on to come across as put out for having to arrange for early delivery, never once showed gratitude for my business nor for tipping them, when I easily could have gone through an online order taking system and/or tipped them nothing. So, in black and white, this easily could have been a 4 or 5 star review, since they delivered at 9 am when they open at 10. But, I find it unpleasant to do business with an entity who demonstrates disregard for respecting and valuing their customers, and who actually comes across in an unprofessional manner. Add this to the equation, and unfortunately for Michael's flowers, I can't give them a higher rating today. read more

I just moved to Simi and I was looking to purchase a bouquet and a boutonniere for my courthouse wedding/shoot. I found them on yelp, messaged them for a quote along with pictures. They followed up with me within 30mins-1hour and advised me to call. The woman on the phone was friendly and very informative. I honestly.......was extremely nervous about it all! I didn't know much about the business and never once did I go to Michael's Flowers; everything was literally done over the phone. Long story short, the day of my wedding I realized I forgot to call and confirm my order (like really?!)....and so I called first thing in the morning and guess what?! My bouquet and boutonniere were ready for pick up...phew!! When my husband arrived with both, bouquet and boutonniere.....I ran downstairs and OMG!!!!!!!! My bouquet and boutonniere was everythiiingggg! The flowers were fresh and beautifully arranged, just the way I wanted!!!! Based on positive Yelp reviews and their published hours of closing at 7:00 we went to Michael's at 5:20 this evening. A sign on the door indicated earlier closing hours through January 12. Today is January 14. The place was closed although we could see someone was inside so I called. We wanted to get flowers for our daughter's birthday but the person answering the phone said they were closed as noted on the door. I asked if they could open so we could buy some flowers but was told no, they were closed. So my problem is the sign on their door didn't reflect their hours for today and the spirit of helpfulness and humanity was sadly missing from this establishment. Never again. read more

I loved the work Cheryl did, and I greatly appreciated the delivery on the day by Andi.
