First walked into the store and noticed it was a disaster. There was stuff all over the floor creating a major hazard. Was doing my shopping and the rudest employee I have encountered in a very long time asked me if I was looking for something, I replied that I was not and she said oh you look like you are looking for a price scanner. WORST Michael's experience EVER! I went in to exchange a picture frame and there was no cashier or employee at registers. When the woman finally saw us standing there she was rude with acknowledgment; no Welcome to Michael's or Can I assist you? Just do you need to check out? Ofcourse the frame I was returning had been opened; how else would I know it wasnt the right size? She called a manager and I was told they do not return opened items. Honestly so disappointed in the customer service today. Went in exited to buy my first cricut machine and you have to bring the cards up so they can retrieve the machines in the back.. they were so unorganized, I spoke to 3 different staff members, they had no idea where anything I was asking for was located in the store so just kept resorting to telling me if it's not out they don't have it... I eventually found the correct vinyl, went to the front, realized they brought two different cricut machines out and I only wanted one, was scolded for that, asked several times where I should be standing because there were customers waiting, they only have the self check out now with card only options, I was going to pay cash. My cart was full, after being scolded for being at the self check out with the intent to pay cash I went to the only register and was AGAIN, rudely told that register had problems and just to go back to where I was .. I finally said "some direction would be nice!" And was interrupted with a snarky "I'm trying to get your correct items!!!" After being so overwhelmed and poorly treated I basically told the girl that due to the lack of customer service, forget it, they could out everything back in the cart and the warehouse because I would not be spending a dime there after being treated so poorly!!! Love the decorations items in the store. Tom who is the business manager @ the Gilroy location was very disrespectful in my thought. I asked to speak to him in regards to a item that was open and not a lil damaged to see if he would be generous to give a 10% on item that I really needed. His respond was no ! I don't think any of the employees care at this location. The aisles are always empty and there is trash on the floor constantly. It's disgusting. And when I ask a question I always seem to get attitude from the employees as they explain to me where they item is. The inventory is sparse with nothing on the shelves and when you ask them if they are getting more in or if they can check other locations all I've ever been told was "I don't know". It's disappointing because I love Michaels but I'm not jumping at the opportunity to go somewhere where I feel like I'm bothering the workers just being there. If you are a DIY kind of person how can you not love this store. What I really like about this store: -it is always clean -always have everything in stock -things are super easy to find -the store is never super busy - aisles are spaced out enough I also have taken my daughter to a few of the Saturday art classes that are free. So awesome to get to do a free art project and take the goodies home. The staff running the events are always super nice and accommodating to the children. An area of improvement - more staff on the floor. When I usually have questions I can never seem to find anyone and have to go to the cash registers. If you sign up for their rewards program you get weekly coupons. Sometimes up to 50% off an item. They also offer birthday parties onsite in their arts and crafts room for pretty cheap compared to other places. read more

I'm trying to be crafty with my review but right now I am seeing RED and its not paint! I went in to purchase an item that this store said they had in stock. I was reluctant to return to this location as in previous visits to try and be artsy have been meet with racists actions by the cashier. I decided this time to stay the course and look for the item myself, I figured the less interaction with the staff the better. I looked all over the store for the item and finally I had to breakdown and ask for help. The associate said of these items are in this isle, but when we arrived they were not. So we she went and got someone else to help. This associate said we do have the items but I don't know where they are, can you call us alter and ask for the item. UM I'm standing right in front of you, but you want me to leave the store and call you to ask you the same question? Yes is what I was told. So I asked can I speak to a manager? So the supposed manager came out and told me the same thing. So I asked can I leave my name and number and get a call when the items are found? The crafty manager said NO I DON'T DO THAT! As he turned on his heel to leave me standing there I asked what is your name? Without even turning around he said Mateo, I then asked are you the store manage, YES! Well come to find out after I called customer service Mateo is not the store manager! Not only was he rude, dismissive and clearly not manager material but he lied. I spoke to the manager on the phone and they said they would call me with in 24 hours to let me know if they find the items. Not only as this yet another bad crafty experience but the store was a mess, boxes and cart loads of stuff everywhere. The framing manager ( I think his name was Mateo) at this store is completely self absorbed. He does not care for his customers. I went in to get my photos framed on my lunch break without much time to spare. I waited 10 minutes standing beside the desk for him to help me while he blasted music so loud my ears hurt. After he finally noticed me standing there with my photos he rudely gestured for me to come over. He asked me what kind of frame I wanted and when I told him I wasn't sure what kind and what size I need and asked for some guidance, he got visibly frustrated with me for asking him questions. I ended up leaving and will come back another time. Hopefully someone else will be there to help my experience be more enjoyable. He isn't helpful at all and expects you to know everything about frames when you talk to him. Very condescending. I also heard him yelling into his microphone, I am assuming at the employees. I got the pleasure of meeting two of their cashiers and they were sweethearts. They helped me out quickly and helped answer questions I had about sewing needles. I bought a Cricut Maker last night and I didn't find out it was an open box and been used untill I got home. First thing in the morning I came back to store and asked for a replacement. The good thing is, the store gave me a new one, but the staff said "I don't think I gave you this unit last night." The fact is, it was the exact box I got from store, and I left everything inside at the same place as when I opened it up. I think the first thing they should do is to apologize to me for giving me an old unit instead of to blame me. It's not my fault at all, but they sounded like it is. I rated this Michael's about average. I took my lil sis to this store so that she could get what she needed for a concert. She wanted to get some bling letters but some of the letters were missing. There's something for everyone & they have everything imaginable for crafts & painting etc. They have rows of scrap book items, scrap booking paper the largest sticker inventory I've ever seen(or ever want to) fake flowers, frames, paints & a ton of paint brushes, beads & jewelry items, decorations for every season & holiday, planting pots, tons of science project ideas, decorative boxes, AND a whole aisle of COOKING STUFF. Then why for all that is green & fuzzy were 5 employees did know what macrame is? 3 of those 5 also couldn't tell me what crochet was. If you're going to run a craft store, please...make sure your staff is at least partially familiar with what they're trying to peddle. I have been doing a lot of shopping for my wedding lately, and had difficulty finding the perfect red rose to make topiaries with. When I finally found a red rose that I loved, there was a limited amount at the Michael's store near my house in Marina. I purchased every last one that I found, and then had the cashier call the other stores to see if they had any more in stock. WIth my luck, the Michael's in Morgan Hill had 98 more roses! The customer service I experienced with the staff on the phone, and in person was excellent. They offered to have the roses brought to the Michael's near my house so that I did not have to drive all the way up to Morgan Hill to pick them up. It was such fast service, the roses arrived the very next day. The manager and staff were helpful, clear, and efficient in working together to solve my dilemma. I am so grateful for this pleasant experience with both Michael's stores!!! Thank you!! read more

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, this place would probably be for you. If your a guy that just answered yes to the last question.....thats just fine. Prices are the same compared to Hobby Lobby so you never have to worry about checking prices. Michaels does have a consistent, weekly coupon of 40%. Make sure to always check online for a coupon. However, I cant give this store a full 5 stars. My reason being is because they dont carry enough toy model supplies. It forces me to drive to Hobby Lobby for those needs. This review is for the Framing Department only. RIght before Thanksgiving, I placed 2 orders for a 16x20 and 11x14 frames of priceless artwork. Suzanna was very helpful and patient, when I was with her at the counter. She helped confirm the design and gave me various options to consider. She was able to do a mock of the final product on the computer quickly and altered sizes and glass without question. She was very polite, and I felt like I was the most important person at that time. Yes, there were a few people waiting, but you do not want to rush the final decision and not be happy. I went to Michael's when I had time to spare and ready to make a final decision They were completed 3 days before the due date, so I was able to show family from out of town. Guess I got lucky :) I was very happy with the "museum like" glass because it gets uplighting. Seems like there is no glass at all. Worth the little price increase. The reason I did not give a 5 out of 5 stars is due to pricing. Without the 60% off then 10% additional, it would have been a few hundred dollars. Save your coupons and watch the weekly ads for cheaper custom framing. read more

They have a lot of craft supplies. That being said half the people that work there have 0 idea where they are, or what you're talking about. I have found items after being told "no I don't think we have that" They do however have a 40% off coupon almost every week so if you need a big ticket item then you can save big! If you know what you want or are browsing for whatever then you're good. If you don't know where something is you may have to ask several people. The lines could be sped up a good deal they usually take longer than I would think they should read more

My sister went in after we just had her baby shower this weekend. She had left over stuff that wasn't used so she went to return it. The Manager Eden Portugal was very rude and said she would not be giving her store credit due to not having a receipt! After carefully reading the return policy there was no legitimate reason to turn away the return. My sister called corporate and they said that returns can be made as long a valid ID is present which my sister did have. I totally feel like she discriminated against her as if she were committing retail fraud like another review stated. This behavior by a store manager is beyond unprofessional. Pretty average for a craft store. They lack in a couple areas: not enough employees (every time I go, there are 10 people in line and 1 cashier), & their carts are too small. The store is kept clean and well organized. You can easily find whatever it is you're looking for simply walking down the few main isleways they have. Bathrooms are clean and they have a vast assortment of every type art supply or crafting supply I can think of. They also typically have multiple price points for quality- so they have cheap canvases, middle of the road canvases, and high end canvases all at varying prices. Same goes for paint, brushes, etc. I have found their employees lacking a bit. No one is ever around to help you (maybe they all assume all their customers are regulars who know which section to shop) and if you ask the people in the front lanes a question, it's likely they don't know the answer. read more
