Typical Michael's. Clean, semi-organized, lots and lots and lots of stuff. Good sized clearance section. Very nice people working here, but some are more knowledgeable than others. Sign up with them online to get coupons. They have an app or you can just go to the website. The cashier can scan right from your phone if you cannot print off a coupon. They send coupons so often that it would be impossible to find an item and you not get it at half off. Went to Wal-Mart and JC Penney looking for a simple black t-shirt and Michaels had them! I like Michael's as an overall store. They do tend to have such a great variety from decorations, crafts, frames to random little items. However my experiences here vary depending on the employees working. I have found the employees are either extremely friendly or they are not very friendly at all. I don't appreciate when a cashier tries to convince me I can't use a Joan's 40% off and a Michael's 40% off on two separate items. This has never been an issue at this location. I am sure Joan's would've been more than happy to have my business. The cashier finally allowed me to do two separate transactions. It isn't that I tried to use one coupon on two items. I had two separate coupons and wanted one applied to each item. Sometimes I do find it challenging to find an employee on the sales floor. I've noticed that some of their Christmas items are not even priced or have a sign. I find it amusing they would have decorations at the entrance of the store yet not take the time to mark the price. $40 original price for a tiny snowman is ridiculous. Even $20 at the 50% discount is way too high for such a tiny decoration. I feel this year Michael's has been a bit pricier on some of the seasonal items. Overall I feel the layout of the store makes sense. I typically don't have too much trouble finding whatever it is I'm looking for. Occasionally I am able to get a fantastic deal on some yarn or a frame. I do appreciate that Michael's accepts other competitors coupons. Joan's+Hobby Lobby are super close by-so it makes sense they would allow me to make purchases at Michael's with their coupons instead of me driving to their competitor. Sometimes the lines are very slow. However it also is the holiday time of year, so I suppose it is to be expected. Today the lines were not as bad. I came in because there was a sales ad for t-shirts, so I go in find the aisle with the sign advertising the sale I grabbed the size I needed. I could only find the size I was looking for in two colors so I'm looking around for an associate to verify that these are the only colors they have for that size... I had to walk around half the store to get someone to finally come help me, the associate was nice she checked the boxes on top of the shelves to ensure that there were no other colors in that size. Thanked her and made my way to the register. When I get to the register the total comes out to something different than expected, so I look on the screen and I'm being charged differently than what was advertised. The cashier then gets her manager to ask why I'm being charged a different price than the advertised sign, she (the manager) gives me a dirty look and goes the sale price is only for sizes S - XL I then told her the sign didn't have an "excludes section" she then continued to give me a dirty look and said that that's how it works there's nothing she can do for me. Well then excuse me! Don't advertise something and have it on the shelves with the signs right in front of it if you're going to exclude certain sizes. For one that's extremely ridiculous. Two you should be ashamed of yourself. Not only did you conduct yourself in an inappropriate manner you made me and my husband whom I was buying the t-shirts for feel like shit. We would've still paid for the t-shirts had you not embarrassed us in front of other customers. Even your employees were appalled by your behavior. I will no longer come to this location and I will be sure to tell others as well as making a call to the corporate office. read more

I couldn't agree more with the other reviews. The customer service here ALWAYS leaves something to be desired. You can never find help when you need it, and when you do it is rarely helpful. A curt response or a point in the general direction of the item you need is all you'll get. If you can get past the exceedingly poor customer service, Michael's Crafts is great! They have everything you would need for crafting and hobbies, sans fabric and sewing tools. This store is fairly well organized, clean, and easy to get around in - it's not always perfect, but what store is. They do offer great coupons in their mailer or online, and I believe you can use a coupon off of your smart phone, too. Hobby Lobby was already mentioned in another review, so I'll comment. Hobby Lobby is an absolutely fantastic craft, hobby, and home decor store, but Michael's location is much more convenient for me, so I go here. I make sure I know exactly what I'm looking for before heading in due to the poor customer service, but they really do have everything I need. read more

If you know what you want, require no assistance, and have the patience of a saint to sift through crammed shelves, well then please give me your number because I want you to shop for me from now on... You'll likely find what you need here, eventually. The buy one-get one photo frame sales typically bring me back, but do check the corners of your frames carefully prior to purchasing. I just moved to Lakeland and I've been to this store everyday the past three days. This city must love arts and crafts, there's always a line...which isn't a bad thing..they get the line going pretty quickly. This last visit I mentioned they didn't have the paper I needed and I had to buy a bulk pack with other paper I didn't need, they immediately gave me a coupon which saved me tons of money!! The customer service at this location was definitely lacking. We were trying to find some supplies for a wedding centerpiece and walked around in circles looking for items, with no help offered. Also, one of the workers was stocking out of a shopping cart and literally blocked the exit to an aisle we were in as we were trying to get out. Instead of getting annoyed with her I just walked around the other way, but that shouldn't have happened. At checkout my fiancé asked if they had a miniature section with normal items, instead of just the seasonal ones they had. She seemed very confused and said "well we have a sticker aisle". She rang up my purchases and asked if I wanted them in the same bag, and I said that was fine, but she just stared at me like I had three heads. I repeated that's fine, and she looked at me dumbfounded with my receipt. I just took it and said thank you. I'm not really sure what that was about. read more

I needed help to find birthday invitation cards and I walked around each isle looking for an employee and I was surprised to find no one so I had to walk all the way to the front of the store and found one employee by the cashier . Only desperation makes me come to this store. And rarely. First battle is the parking lot. Church teens with large buckets soliciting you at your car, in the road, seemingly unsupervised (and dangerous) make just getting in the door tough. Then no sales help on the floor (found one socializing out of site with a friend in the craft room). High volume store crammed with "today's parents" and unsupervised kids who feel they have to touch everything, open everything and run with carts up and down aisles. This kind of behavior becomes a safety problem and therefore a poor management problem. To wind up the great adventure, you stand behind 8 people in line for one clerk who doesn't call for back-up. Add in teenagers who butt in and out of line and said "parents today" who allow children to make their own separate purchases in slow motion with no sense how to count money or change. No amount of sales or variety can make this pleasant shopping. They got 3 of my dollars in stead of hundreds. read more

My niece had her birthday party at this location. She turned 8 years old. What a great idea! The kids did arts and crafts and were able to bring the things they made home with them. They really enjoyed it. The store should advertise this more. It's also convenient for the parents if they are dropping the kids off to the party. They can shop in the store or go next door to TJ Max and come back. You may want to look into this but I think all you have to do is bring the cake, drinks, snacks and decorations. They handle the activities for the kids. Great location. read more

I hadn't even set foot in this store before I was forewarned about their extremely poor customer service. I called them to find out if they had a specific item before I drove across town to possibly find out if they did or didn't. The person who answered the phone had no business doing so. His communication skills were poor at best. I could hear him relaying every question I asked to someone else. When I asked to speak with the other person he mumbled that he'd get her and after 5 full minutes I hung up and immediately called back and asked to speak with her directly. Again more mumbling and another length of holding before I gave up. Michaels Corp. you are hurting your customer base by not dealing with this issue at this store. I can see by the other reviews I am not a anomaly here. I do believe the store carries a good amount of product and is delightful enough to spend time in, until you need to ask for help on something or want to check out. It's not worth the aggravation. This store needs better management or a new employee base that care about customer service. read more
