When I walked in today 2 employees were near the entrance and not one of them welcomed me. Then when I went to check out, an obvious supervisor and employee got into a very weird interaction where they complained about each other not responding on the headset to each other. It was very unprofessional and awkward. Then as I left, I walked by a manager and she didn't even address me to say "thank you for coming in". Not one employee even spoke to me. Whoever the store manager or district manager is should be appalled by this treatment of consumers. read more

In an attempt to improve my Spanish, I have been seeking to replace everyday objects with their Spanish language equivalencies. This has manifested itself in my selection of wall calendars, maps, and simple cook books. Anyway, I was very pleased with a large Spanish language world map, purchased off Amazon. However, after visiting a small independent framing shop, I was anticipating that framing would continue to be prohibitively expensive, until I visited Michael'. The kind woman in the framing shop worked with me to find an affordable option. I am very pleased with the results. It was quite enjoyable learning a bit about framing throughout our interactions. As my map is approximately two feet by three feet, she emphasized that I would need a more durable frame, so I ended up going with a colored metal, which really helps the map to pop! Comparatively, I used to really dislike Michaels. The store seemed very cluttered and almost impossible to find anything I wanted, then if I did get to the right area they didn't have what I wanted. I usually ended up going to a different hobby store to get what I was looking for. A few years passed of me just not wanting to go for any reason and recently I have returned to a nice surprise. The store has changed dramatically visually and organizationally. It is very easy now to find what I am looking for and there is although not 100% a good chance to find what I want. Also, they regularly run sales on most things making it even more appealing to get things here compared to somewhere else. The product seems to be rotated on a fairly regularly basis adding new products from time to time and getting rid of stale items that no one wants to buy. The staff here is always nice and happy to help you hunt down something or point you in the right direction for what you're looking for. Sometimes too they will help in giving suggestions for the project you might be working on. My only real issue that I have no is with the custom framing department. I recently went in to get a custom made poster mounted and framed. It was a terribly oddball size being 24 x 48, but for a basic mounting, cheapest black frame and glass, it was going to be like $800 which was purely comical to me. I don't know what was being tabulated to come to that, but it was pretty insane. A few months before we went in with a University diploma to get mounted and framed and that was going to be over $450. We ended up going to a competitor and getting the poster mounted and framed for $60, and the degree was about $130. So I'm not real sure what's going on there, but that custom framing pricing is eccentric. Overall, the store is always pretty clean and organized. The staff is friendly and helpful and I tend to always be able to get what I'm after now for crafts and hobbies. Compared to the other large hobby store chain in town, this is my main go to for everything. It's just usually better for hobbies and doesn't have any of the pretentious attitudes the other does. read more

I was so relieved to find this Michael's after experiencing the anthill chaos of the one in Boulder. It's a huge store with plenty of room to maneuver. It was clean and bright and didn't have the horrific humming noise of the one I previously shopped at in VA. I was able to pick up a few decorative plastic bins that were tall enough to hold acrylic paints upright, and make note of the yarn, beads, and framing section. And then I saw the other shops in the center, which included a Lowes, a Marshall's, a Ross, and a shoe store, and knew that I'd have to limit my visits here or I'd be spending a lot! read more

I ordered online, showed up for curbside service, and even when I parked in front of the wrong store, you were all so patient with me and ended up helping load my order into my car. Thanks for your patient, polite, and kind staff. This made me purchasing some very bulky items really simple and do-able. This store is filthy. It's clearly not well swept or admiring, and products are strewn all over the place. I get that customers do a lot of that, and there are busy days, but it seriously looked like a tornado went through there. read more

I returned a paint brush I did not need within 24 hours and in the original, unopened packaging, but I only received a refund for a partial amount of the original cost of the item. Upon closer inspection, I realized my receipt has a "return value" assigned to each item I purchased. How greedy are you? Ive heard of an restocking fee for electronic items, but I have never heard of a store with such a ridiculous refund policy. I could have ordered everything I bought at your store on Amazon, had it delivered to my house for free, and returned unwanted items for free. You're going to become the next Sears if you don't cut it out. read more

Michaels is not a favorable place to do business. My little girl bought daddy a gift card (with money from other family members). This is not a store that I use. Michaels Customer Service refused to refund the money. Lesson Learned: Never give Michaels any business whatsoever. Their customer service is exceedingly poor. I recommend everyone boycott Michaels until they change this ridiculous policy. read more

I love the great deals I get here, and enjoy the variety of merchandise. I have multiple hobbies and the art supplies are great. I can usually find what I am looking for much cheaper here than most places. Frames are such a good deal, I've turned my home into a landscape photo gallery of sorts, off of our own photos from hikes and wonderfully large frames to house them. Now to see if I can sell some too! read more

Maybe I expect too much from an Arts and Crafts store, but I was recently in the store looking for colored pencils, not your typical ones, the higher priced ones. Before I purchase, I was wanting to better understand some of the differences between brands, how to determine a wax base vs oil base and the type of effects from each, and a few other general questions. The associate I spoke to responded with "I have no clue" and "Let me see if someone else does?". He came back 5 minutes later and said "yeah, they don't have a clue either and nobody knows about colored pencils". A few words to Michaels Management, "Get a clue". I don't expect a colored pencil expert, but it would be nice to have someone there that has a little expertise. I always assumed that MIchaels charges much higher prices because of the product and level of knowledge on those products. I would suggest lowering your prices so that we can spend our time googling and doing research without having to rely on any associate to know anything. read more
