I took an original Jim Morrison oil painting here for framing. I had no idea what type of frame I wanted and I am indecisive as it is. It didn't help seeing a bazillion options hanging on the wall and the employee was very patient and helpful with narrowing it down. I said I wanted something "old school rock n' roll" and she immediately recommended an aged black leather frame. I pretty much erupted in cheer when hearing this and told her she was brilliant. I mean Morrison basically slept in leather pants and no one can pull them off better than him; OK maybe skinny Axl Rose but that is up for debate. What is worth mentioning is they scan your picture into their computer and show you exactly what it will look like in different frames. This is really great in determining how much to crop if you are using matt. At the time they were running a 75% off framing deal and we all know how expensive framing can be so I was stoked on the price. The painting is now on my wall and I couldn't be happier. They wouldn't let me do two transactions. I only wanted to because I was buying something for a friend. And I needed the second because it was for work. Even after I said I would get in line again, the cashier wouldn't budge. Which would have been a hassle since they were busy. So I bought what I needed to for work. I've dealt with multiple employees here they are terrible huge company no concern for their guests their manager can't even help with their loyalty program lazy! Their framing dept clearly work off commissions and basically admitted its a monopoly ... $2800 to frame two pieces ... had another local company do it for $800 ... such a joke read more

Michael and I see each other all the time. You could even say, we are going steady. He's the pen to my paper, the frame to my picture, the ink to my stamp. When I'm bored, Michael provides me with coloring books and bubbles. When I'm sad, Michael provides me silk flowers and beautiful plants! When I can't sleep, Michael provides me with fabric to make pillows. Last year for Christmas, Michael gave me five beaded necklaces with Swarovski charms! Michael writes me notes on custom stationary, makes sure my fountain pen drawer is always stocked, and wraps my presents in the cutest paper. I love Michaels. read more

I cannot believe the amazing help I received from the store manager, Jeremy at this store. The situation is a long story, so I won't get into it; however, I urge people to take the extra time/drive, i.e. the extra mile to go to this store rather than others in the area. He was so helpful and kind to me when I brought a very special request to him asking him-to please put a frame back together that had broken. He spent time with me helping me decide what could be done and also went out on The floor and helped me pick out just with the right frame . He offered his insight and also put it together for us. I placed an order 4 days ago online for curbside pick up and called everyday and was told my order would be ready today (4 days later) called and now the store is closed without my order. I understand we're in a pandemic but I actually have a business that's still up and running and needed this order. I then called Camarillo store where the manager told me everybody's taking a loss right now and she could only help her stores customers and other store were not her problem. I asked her what her thoughts are and what I should be doing or how I should get my order placed and she told me it was not her problem and that we were in the middle of a pandemic and that she was on the front lines, I then asked her if Camarillo could place my order she replied with I'm busy and I should've placed my order in Camarillo. I then told her I lived in Simi and what should I do she said she had no clue corporate didn't give them any instructions. When I asked for her name she not only refused to give it to me she hung up on me. So now they not only took my money but I have no order. Thank you for nothing and for taking my money this will be going to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Why is this store so cluttered? Why is service so slow? I can't stand this store, but we always need to go there to get school project stuff. Michael's should just keep some of those 40% coupons there, so you don't have to remember to go to the Sunday paper and clip it out. And don't bother asking for one when at the store. Unfortunately, due to my area of focus, I must visit this Michael's location more often than I'd like. This particular store is usually somewhat messy and understocked. My real complaint, though, is with the employees. I understand that for most people, a job is just a means to a paycheck, but some of the kids they hire here make no attempts to obfuscate this obvious truth. Maybe it makes me cranky, but there's something truly irritating about employees not knowing what a burnisher is, or mounting board... or whether it is in stock or if they even carry it. When I go here, I know I'm on my own, because if you can't find it, good luck finding someone who works here who can. read more

I like this Michaels better than the West Hills' store. I give them 3 stars because they have a better selection (for things I typically want), and I honestly haven't had the waiting in lines that I get at that other one. The other store only got 2 stars. What I forgot to mention with the other Michaels, but is equally bad at both stores, is the fact that they are ROTTEN about honoring their own coupons. I can't believe I've had to teach them how to read their own coupons. A number of times, they'll tell me, "Oh, that's expired"......... when it clearly hasn't. On other occasions, I have gone in with coupons where, by accident, they expired like the day before, and I didn't realize. Do you think they've honored them??? Hell no. Not even close. Well, then how come so many non-Michaels' stores are now honoring anyone's coupons, not to mention, expired coupons? Why does Michaels have to be such a- -holes about it??? SERIOUSLY. read more

The Moorpark location has THE worst customer service and this is not one isolated incident. In person, the employees are horrible and on the phone, it's even worse. I was in the store looking for an item and when I found it, there was no price. I searched to find the same item that had a price tag but NONE of them had been marked. When I took it to the register, the employee copped an attitude with ME about how it wasn't marked and she would have to do more work. Today, I called to inquire about an item in stock and was put on hold, which actually, wasn't so bad. When the employee picked up the line and asked what I wanted (yes, in those words), I started to explain but before I could I was cut off with: "No, we don't have that." CLICK. Are you kidding? I ordered scrapbook supplies online to pick up at the Moorpark store. I picked up the order and briefly checked to see that everything was there. When I took out the supposedly brand new paper cutter, I noticed that the packaging had been previously ripped open completely, but someone had carefully taped it up again to give the impression it had never been opened. Yes, they managed to sneak one by me. I will be returning or exchanging it. Next time I'll stick to ordering from Westlake Michaels or Joann's. read more

i had a custom framing job done here and it took two or three weeks longer to finish than they had originally told me. that being said, they communicated with me every step of the way and explained the situation....THAT made me happy despite the delayed delivery. Must more impressive than Joann's (unless in comparison the the Joann super stores which are up to par with Michael's). Moorpark Michaels: Thank you to Lauren in the framing dept. I arrived late, @ 9:00 pm. I needed ready made picture frames for 7pcs of large artists prints. I arrived very tired, didn't feel good & was confused about what to get. She ended up as my personal assistant for over an hour. She was incredibly helpful and very kind. At my request, she was happy to place the prints inside the frames for me, (did it twice, as I changed my mind & preferred a heavier style ! ) She was very accommodating. They look great ! To top it off, she also carried them to my car on a cold & late December night. I appreciate her good customer service and hope she is considered a valued employee. Had a bunch of odd-size posters that I needed framing for. The woman who worked in the framing area helped me measure them all and get the right sizes (I had lost my list and couldn't remember what was what, but she also cropped two of them so I could get a frame that fit. It's not my first time in this particular store and they are always helpful. But I was really appreciative of the woman taking the time to get me the right stuff, and I had over 10 posters/pictures to deal with. After two years of shopping here I can finally say the store has improved significantly. My wife and I were approached three different times to see if we needed any help. A young lady named "Lizzie" was very helpful and absolutely pleasant and cheerful. Not like some of the other rude and unprofessional employees that work there. When we first started shopping there two years ago I couldn't believe a company like Michael's had such bad attitudes working there and the store was a mess! I called the store to make sure they were still doing curb side pick up and they let me know that they were so I placed an order online before the 3pm cut off to get my stuff the same day. I never heard from them. I called the next day and they said they were really busy but my order would be ready within a couple hours. Never heard back. I got an email at midnight saying my order was ready so I drove over up my order and found out that no one was at the store and the customer service number wasn't taking calls anymore. I tried to contact them through their live chat but they were no longer answering live chat. I understand there is a lot going on right now but I can't even get a hold of someone to get my money back. I've been forced to do a charge back through my bank. If your not going to operate you business right now that's fine but be upfront with people. Don't take their money and make it impossible to contact the business. read more

I have shopped with the Michael's company for twenty plus years and this store location since it opened, but recently I have found myself regretting my trips out there. For one, the staff at this location have become far less knowledgeable in the crafting items and techniques that are found within the store. I have noticed that Michael's, in the last 10 years or so, has had a extensive turnover in staff, which is fine, but they should show the motivation and the basic understanding of their products. The store is often highly unorganized, which makes finding things without assistance difficult. So when you seek their help and can't receive it, it is quite a disappointment. There is also an issue in relation to their coupons policy, which I've noticed over the years has become more and more stringent. I have read in previous reviews that their coupon policy stinks and I agree. Michael's prints out a 40% off coupon with the receipt, I get coupons in my email, mail and Sunday newspaper so it is obviously that Michael's wants us to use coupons, but then you get to the register and they refuse to take them. Each time I come to this location there is always a different excuse for why they aren't able to take them. On one occasion, I was told that I couldn't use more than one unless I had a credit card with a different name or was paying with cash. In what sense is that professional? So yet again I leave this location wondering to myself, "why do I shop here?" read more

I got a telephone call two days later saying it was ready. John was very polite and professional. My kids bought me crayola brush & detail dual tip markers for Christmas. When I opened them to use them, some were not working. They gave me the receipt and I took them back. They were $20.00 and they only want to refund about half. I ask why and was told because they were open. Had they worked, I would not be returning them. When purchasing an item that was damaged I was glad they gave me a discount but because they already gave me a discount I couldn't use my coupon. I asked the girl how does that help me. I'm willing to purchase the item but would like more off since I have to pay to fix the item which to me was worth it but they wouldn't give me an additional discount and the girl was being sarcastic "REALLY".
