Yarn selection super blows. Online prices are always significantly different from in store and they don't price match themselves. Inventory is never correct so if it says they have it in stock online they most likely don't. Overall more expensive. Strangest Michael's that I've ever visited and I've been to lots! Needing a specific picture frame to match a few pieces of art on my wall, I stopped here thinking all Michael's carry the same merchandise. They do, but this store has far less inventory and of course they didn't have the size or color I needed. Now that isn't why I am only giving three stars. The stars are based on the store layout which was very confusing. The rows of mostly empty shelves ; it looked like they were going out if business. The lack of any offer of assistance and I was all over the store. While back in the framing area for a really long time, I could hear the very personal conversations coming from the back room where they do the custom framing. I wanted to tell them to lower their voices as everyone in any part of the store could hear the saga of the lousy boyfriend who doesn't work, who has been given three different cars, with whom she has no children but can't figure out why she doesn't leave him. Michael's is my local first choice for all my crafty supply needs. We do have 2 Hobby Lobbys near by and a couple of other craft/fabric stores but this is still my go to store. The staff is always friendly and the store is generally well organized. They've added fabric and new items for cake decorating and home decor recently. I prefer the Cricut supplies they offer here over the other stores. With the coupons they offer it makes things a good value too. As long as they keep offering their coupons and having great sales I will keep coming back. read more

For someone who is not remotely crafty, I spend a ridiculous amount of time and money in this store. They are one of my favorite spots for seasonal decor and I usually can't leave without buying a decorative candle holder. I think my home is on its way to being a fire hazard. The thing to keep in mind about Michaels is that you should never have to pay full price. They almost always have coupons in the Sunday Oregonian or you can print them from their website (http://www.michaels.com/). They don't keep the coupons in stock at the store, so make sure you remember to bring it with you. A few items here that may surprise you... --Children's toys - Never did a lot of arts and crafts with my boys, but they went through a major animal figure collection phase. They have a good selection in stock and also have the dreaded Silly Bandz. --Plain T-shirts with vintage rock decals you can apply. The reason for three stars is that I split my time between the Tualatin and Oregon City locations and think the other store is slightly better. read more

Great store location in Oregon City! This is my go-to store for crafting when I'm in town. With plenty of parking and a good selection of crafting materials I have always found what I need in one trip here. They offer great deals and always have coupons available. They match coupons from JoAnn's and they can scan them right at the register. This trip I learned that you can use a single item discount coupon from Michael's, along with the 20% of the entire purchase including sale items coupon from Michael's, as well as a single item discount coupon from JoAnn's in one transaction - one of the nice store employees explained that to me, which was super helpful! From cricut supplies to small mason jars for sous vide cooking, they have a little something for everyone, no matter the hobby! read more

I don't normally write reviews but had such a great experience with Brandon in framing that I wanted to write one. He was SUPER helpful and patient in discussing framing options and helped me stay within the amount of money I wanted to spend. He wrote special instructions for the matte cutting and tried to help me find my rewards in my email. If every employee were like him, the world would be a much better place! I wish for him a promotion, and minimally a raise. If I were the store manager, I would do whatever it took to keep him! read more

I had not been out to this location and it seems far smaller and less stocked than other Michaels stores. Like most though the customer service is either great or tragic..you will find one amazing person and then the next is, well, horrific. Worst experience of my adult life!! I am a college educated, mature, reasonable, and compassionate freelance artist. When I went to use my $15 off of $75 order on my $100 order i was told that their policy excludes doorbusters. Which is fine, but I wasnt using their coupon. I was using a competitors coupon which clearly states in the same exact verbage "INCLUDES DOORBUSTERS". Aimee whom refered to herself as a manager, just kept speaking over me while not listening to me point this out. She kept repeating childishly, "Would you like to hear our policy?" After about 5 times of her speaking that over me I said "no!" I had already heard her tell me. It was her turn to hear my argument. To my astonishment, she told me not to talk to her like that. I didnt yell, i wasnt mean, just very frustrated. Dumbfounded, the only thing i could think of was how bad she was at her job. I then said, " Your customer service skills suck!" Aimee then asked me to leave. I replied, " Are you serious? I didn't attack you as a person. I gave you my oppinion about your behavior." Then, for every word i began to speak she just spoke over me in her childlike manor, "Would you just leave?" So i left. I've been a loyal Michaels customer for 20 years. I will never go back unless they rectify this. I spend at least several grand there annually and my networking tentacles go far and wide. Bottom line, $15 buck would of kept a loyal customer happy. read more

Worst customer service experience ever. I recently brought six photos in to be matted. I purchased all the supplies from this store and had them mat the pictures. When I picked them up 4/6 were damaged. The matting material was bubbled, creased, crooked, etc. I called to speak to the manager and told her about the damage. Her attitude was that the people providing the service are not required to look for damage and it was my fault for not noting it beforehand. After speaking to her she agreed to redo them if they could find matching mats. I went to drop off the three worst ones but the Manager was not there. The girl helping me said, "Oh yeah, I did those but the mats were damaged when I got them." I asked why she did not call me so I could exchange them. She laughed and said that "If the customer gives us damaged mats we use them. It is not our fault it is damaged, you should have looked them over better. Stuff is damaged all the time, that is life." I tried to reason with her but she had such a terrible attitude I finally walked out. Even if I could get them redone, I would NEVER let her touch any of my photos again. read more

Terrible customer service. I came in with a big picture and tried to get help with frames. I asked four different employees, including ones working at the custom frame shop and manager and all did their best to not help me and gave me scowls. Told me to go to a different store and didn't attempt to sell me a custom one that they were advertising at 70% off even after I asked. Well done! As a cosplayer, I find this Michael's to be really helpful in terms of customer service and supply availability. Plus it is conveniently located in Oregon city, which means it is a quick bus ride to any and all supplies needed for my latest project. I may not know the staff personally, but they are always there to help and they do their best to answer any and all questions I have regarding supplies. Never with retail had I ever felt so helped when shopping for materials. Their inventory is really good too, for seldom do they not have what I'm looking for. I no doubt that there are plenty of arts & crafts in the Portland metro area for all cosplayer needs, but if you live in or around Oregon City, then this Michael's is a must. read more

I like this place even though I don't go here often. I go for mosaic types of things...and they have great inexpensive Xmas stuff. Great candles!! I always enjoy looking around when here. I do this they had more mosaic platforms..like those I can get online. Like the shape of a sun, or swirl, square, etc..The best kinds are thick MDF...and they don't carry any of that stuff. That would be my one wish! They are right nearby though and I often stop there to check stuff out. read more

As a frequent knitter and occasional DIY-er, I can't live without Michaels. They have a huge selection of crafting items, patterns, ideas, custom framing, and even offer classes to instruct you in the latest projects. Their prices are on the high side but they frequently offer coupons so I usually wait until I can get 10-25% off my order before actually purchasing anything. This happens to be my only real issue with the store. That and they seem to change/rotate stock often so if you see something you like, you should grab it while it's there. The staff is usually quite friendly and helpful but occasionally they do bone head things like not offering transfers for items carried at one of their other stores. read more

The Michaels in Tualatin is significantly better than this one in Oregon City. The one in OC is so overpriced it's sad, the have a tiny clearance section that is awful. There is barely anything marked down or on sale. The bead section is maybe 15 percent as big as the one in Tualatin, the paper craft section is pathetic and more like the size of a end-cap. If you work with clay the selection is small with a small amount of overpriced tools. Save yourself the money and time and go to the one in Tualatin. read more

The Oregon City Michaels has an excellent framing department mainly because of Mary. She is so helpful, friendly, professional and ready to assist with advice on frames and matting. I always have a bad day when I come here. It's barely organized to make sense. People wander around everywhere like zombies, so even if you have a mission to get in and get out, it's impossible to get around a lot of people. The service is mostly a caricature like Kristin Wiig's Target Lady impression. You'd think that would be funny, but it is extremely frustrating when your "I'll just get in and get the things on my list" turns into confusion and lots of wasted time. I couldn't live without this place. I am a painter and they have basic supplies of good quality. I spend too much $$$ here but I couldn't live without it. I always have "Projects" or "Ideas" and Michaels has some of everything I need. Prices are comparable to other craft stores (except online) and the weekly coupons and sales are great. I screenshot the coupons on my cell and use them in the store. One star deduction for the long lines every time I go. I hate waiting in checkout lines. read more

I literally just walked out of this store and I will never spend a dime at this place again. They close at 7. My husband and I got there before 6 as we had a lot to get to build our granddaughter a dollhouse. Exactly at 7 they announced they were closed. We still had to get a little box so we kept looking. The employees started making snide remarks over the speakers. They told us we had to check out or leave. I spoke with a manager and she said she would call security. We had two coupons we wanted to use and we were told we could use both and then when we went up to pay the associate Nikki told us no no no you can't do that, it the extra 20% only comes off of the second item even though the coupon said "20% off all items". Nikki was a peice of work and our associate Timothy was wonderful. The person Nikki was incredibly rude and was talking to us as if we were stupid and then had the stones to say "are we happy now??" Framing is not their strong point! If you have anything of value look for a real frame shop! DO NOT TAKE IT TO MICHAELS!!! We took a very expensive piece in to be stretched and framed... they damaged the piece then said it was like that when they got it. When we went in to pick it up the first time, We could see they had not taken care of the piece once it was done,,, they pulled it from a stack of all sizes and it was not wrapped or protected when we contacted the gallery we purchased it from and showed him pictures of the damages he assured us that it was from the print being mis handled after it had been stretched and framed. I asked Cheryl if the print was damaged why she had not called us before she framed it,,, her response was "I assumed you already knew". Guess that is a safe and easy way to handle a mistake! so not only did they do a bad job (stretching was very poorly done) they damaged the piece then lied about it. We spent almost 700.00 for this one of a kind, signed and number piece to be framed... only to have it damaged! Then to have to deal with the attitude later has been just heart breaking! Bottom line,,, if your art has any value,,, take it to a real frame shop! read more

The parking lot is strange. Or maybe the store is strange. This Michaels is located in a little town center, and this location is in the corner - pushed backed a bit from everything else. Not a big deal. I think I'm just complaining, because when I went... it was raining. Anyway, I had a coupon for 25% off my purchase. SO excited to use! It started at 4:00pm, and I got there at 3:30 to shop, and then, get in line in perfect time. The Christmas stuff was already discounted, and this was before Christmas. Some of the picture frames were buy one, get one free or buy one, get one 50% off. It was great, because that's exactly what I went for! A 3.5"x5" picture frame! I ended up buying much more. My basket ended up with coloring books, candles, baking pans, and everything else under the sun. They had tons of staffing at the registers, and that was much appreciated, because the line was ridiculously long. The guy that ring up my purchase was so nice and friendly.
