As an avid crafter, I have mixed feelings about this store. For similar items, I find their prices higher than those at Hobby Lobby (a few doors away). However, they have terrific sales, and if there is something that I really want, I wait for one of their generous coupons. I've also noticed that online prices can be cheaper than what I found in the store. I have always gotten friendly, helpful customer service. When to the store two times to get a custom frame done because they got a 70% off sale, and both times I was turned away for there was no one in framing to help. The second time I hired the sales associate talk to the manager on the walky-talky and said she is on a conference call and come back another day. Not going to give this location a third try. Micheal's does not match their online prices!! The attendant flat out said they intentionally offer better online deals to push online sales. Today we popped in for a frame and the sale online was 50% off otherwise it was $34.99! The girls only suggestion was that we could order it online and then they can mark it as picked up but then their website wouldn't work. It was saying I need to put in a valid name when I input my name and then wouldn't accept Phoenix as the city. The employees were nice enough but just said I don't know why it's doing that. I have never done business with a store where they can't over ride a price, or at the least can't place an online order for the customer or I don't know give the same deal in store as you do online to avoid this entirely. This is beyond ridiculous, this whole situation left us at the counter for almost 10 minutes trying to figure it out, again with no actual help from the workers. I am good when I can quite literally buy the same things at Joann's and they honor all online prices. Will no longer be doing business with Micheal's moving forward. read more

Chris, the head of custom framing at Michael's on Bell and 7th St, is the BEST!!! I had bought a shadow frame for my husband's old football jersey and was looking for advise on how to mount it. Chris explained the different ways to do it and how he would do it. It was very apparent he would the superior job. And he did!!! It was finished in less than a week and looks amazing!! Sad that we live in a society where people steal, because know everyone is treated as a potential thief because they have to lock up their markers and other certain supplies. I had to press a button to call for help to get 3 markers priced at $4 each, it's ridiculous that I cant get them myself and then they have to hold them up at the front as if I'm gonna steal some pens. Then when I finally go to the self checkout I had a bigger lady who was an employee hovering over me, watching my every move, and trying to 'teach' me how to work the self checkout as if I hadn't been here before. If I needed help I can most definitely ask. I come here a lot and never had this much of a disappointing experience. read more

They sure have a lot of great sales. I came out with 3 candles and two pieces of felt for less than 8.00. That's terrific. I love their paper and stickers. Mostly their stickers. I gotta tell ya, the people are super nice, and there is lots of stuff; however being from the restaurant industry the lack of music freaks me out :P Almost any crafty thing your looking for; plus other stuff I wouldn't have guessed I'd find here. I have never had a bad experience in this store. Everyone is always so nice and helpful. They are fully stocked with craft items, as well as some decorative items if you are into that. The seasonal sales are fantastic. I'm usually there for gift picture frames or housewarming gifts and the selection is always great. I'm not too crafty but I like to walk the craft aisles anyway and they are always clean and well-stocked with paints, yarns, silk flowers, baking items, stickers, beads, and much more. And they get the best Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas decor if you're looking for an impulse buy (chachkies) at the holidays. Love this store, the staff, and how clean and well-lit it is. Last visit staff helped me look for a very specific replacement bulb I needed and unfortunately Michaels doesn't carry it, but staff directed me to what store I could find it at and I did! I trekked to this new-ish Moon Valley Towne store last Friday mid-afternoon for a meet & greet with Aussie mixed-media artist Jane Davenport, who was there during the Creativation 2019 trade show weekend happening down at Phoenix Convention Center. She graciously took the time away to meet with her customers / followers (especially those who could not attend the trade show). She's the only one from Creativation to do this, and I was happy to show up to support her. I love her face & face expressions stamp lines. She chose Michaels because it's the only U.S. retailer to stock her products which enables us customers to purchase (and with a coupon) cheaply without the hefty shipping fees that Australia imposes. She was punctual and introduced her trade and showcased her artwork journals and afterwards, autographed and gave photo ops. It was held at the classroom to accompany 20+ of us without being too packed (the table was just a tad too big, that's why). Since this was my first time at this store, I looked around to see if there was something that they carried that I had wanted to purchase and was happy to find it (last one in stock! ;) ), which I had a coupon for with no issue at the register. The associates were pleasant, and the store was clean and well-lit. I think it helps that since the store opened last year, it's had an atmospheric influence hovering about that everything's still new and fresh. It's one of the bigger stores in the valley, making it easier to browse than, say, the smaller Colonnade store. I always prefer to shop at new or newer stores because of it. My wife is a Nurse and try's to use the least amount of contact possible. We bought a new Christmas tree and she wanted to pick it up on her way to work for the convenience. She made arrangements for your no contact whereas a Michael's employee brings it out to the car for a no contact purchase. When she got there to pick up tree . She waited more than 20 minutes and no one came out to her car with our tree . She ended up going inside and did it herself. COME ON MICHAEL'S. First I have to say that the customer service at this location is off the charts amazing! Megan and Crystal were so accommodating and friendly. The service I received was better than any Michaels store I have been in. Second, this store is extremely clean and well kept!! Most craft stores have clutter and broken items everywhere, but I felt very at ease shopping here. They also had an amazing selection of Holiday stuff! I underestimated the variety and shopped late in the season, I can imagine how much more they had a month ago. But overall, this experience will make me a Michaels shopper again. The lady, Rosa, at the cashier saw my grandma and I standing in line for about 10 minutes. We thought that she was dealing with someone else, but the lady left the line who she was checking out. This place is a great. Staff is nice and approachable, even for an introvert. Cashiers are the best ones I've dealt with at any Michael's location. Whatever you're doing here, it's awesome. I used to go to the Michael's at Metro but over the last 10 years I've only had issues with them, always something wrong with valid coupons, cashiers being rude and passive aggressive when I'm just following what the online coupon says it's able to do! My sister who is not an artist but often goes with me to buy art supplies even noticed this, and both of us are often very uncomfortable even bringing up coupons because we feel like they don't even want us to use them. That's the feeling I've been getting there. The Bell Michael's will now be the standard one I go to, even though it's a little (like a mile) further away from me than Metro. Chris/Christian (I think) gave me a receipt with a review to fill out but I AM SORRY I lost it! I hope this counts! read more
