If your going for UFC nights here are a few tips. 1.Arrive before the main card starts or you will be standing 2.There was a 5$ cover but I am not sure when it started (maybe like 9 or 10) 2.Once the main card starts, all of the TV's were switched to the event And now for the food, dude! I got the 3/4lb cheeseburger with a side of fries and two bbq sauces I ordered the burger medium rare, and it was more along the lines of medium but was still juicy. Lightly seasoned and seared on the outside but not burnt. The buns were fresh from some local bakery which was nice. They added bacon onto the burger (not complaining) and actually gave me the two bbq sauces I asked for. The fries were crispy and hot. Whoever was working the deep fryer was on point. Environment Waitresses seemed slightly annoyed (although nice) and seemed to have a pattern of forgetting waters and asking if you want another beer before you are finished (haha).I would probably be annoyed working a Saturday night during a UFC match, but they still did a good job. Most of the crowd was late 20's or 30's with a few young bloods in there. Although this is an Irish bar, I think i may have been the only Irish person in there (GO MCGREGOR). Based on the crowd I assume the local neighborhood is predominantly Italian however the crowd was ethnically diverse and everyone was friendly with each other. Lots of fun shit talking between McGregor and Diaz fans. Bathroom line was insane after the final fight. Everyone went outside to smoke cigarettes and i left. We called ahead for a party of 10 at 7:30-7:45 on a Tuesday for my sons birthday. Not exactly prime time. When we arrived the tables weren't ready but it was no big deal as I gave a 15 minute window. We were waiting for other guests and never offered anything while we waiting. Including drinks. When our party was complete we ordered drinks but only half of the table was able to order because the waitress said she "couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time". It was a large party so I assumed she would come back. Not quite. The half that ordered their drinks got them and then she promptly ran off. We ordered dinner and appetizers and the rest of the drinks in one shot because we were afraid we wouldn't see her again. It was 9pm and we still had no food. My fiancé asked for a manager and the younger waitress came over and told us that we only ordered a half an hour ago so it should be out soon. We got our food at 9:15. Minus 2 people's food. We overheard the waitress tell the younger girl that she never put the second page in. She came over and double checked the order and then walked away. Didn't explain what happened or apologize. When that food came out the manager brought it out and apologized saying they have a new PoS system and they're learning to work it. He said he would take 50% off all of the food for the inconvenience. Now, had the service improved at this point, I wouldn't even be leaving this review. The manager absolutely did right by us. He addressed the issue, apologized and compensated us. All good right? Wrong. The service absolutely crashed and burned at this point. We were never offered refills, never offered desserts, never offered to wrap anything up. I had to ask for my kids ice cream and at that point I let them know it was my sons birthday and if they can do anything special for that. Nope. Nothing. She put the ice cream down and walked away. I asked for my kids food to be wrapped up. I had to walk up to the desk and ask for the check. We asked for the manager to clarify the discounts which he did. We paid our bill and even left her a decent tip which she did not deserve. The more I thought about this experience the angrier I got. This was my sons birthday and it was an absolutely horrible experience. This is where my sons asked to go for his birthday and we were treated like crap. We watched the younger waitress turn 5 tables while we were there. 5 tables!! People who came after us left well before us!!! Our party fully arrived by 8pm yet we still didn't leave until 10:15! This is unacceptable. While the manager did do the right thing , the waitress absolutely did not. The waitress did apologize but we were subjected to lots of dirty looks afterwards. Because I forgot to put the order in? We weren't expecting the world but at least offering refills???? Basic service? Not once during our entire stay did ANYONE ask if we were ok or if we needed anything. That's bare minimum. So my final opinion is that while the food is delicious, I will not be returning based upon the poor service we received. read more

I've been coming here for a while now because they have the best perogies in the area and it's a great place to watch UFC fights. However, my most recent experience was beyond belief. My friend had ordered wing and nachos which are pretty large portions. He was not able to finish the wings had more than half left which we boxed to go. When we stepped away to sign our checks, a waitress seemed to have taken his to-go box, easy mistake-no problem. We asked one of the waitresses there and she looked around saw it on the TRASH, picked it up brushed some stuff off of it and gave it to us. My friend and I were appalled. He asked her, "I'm sorry but would you really eat that if you watch someone take it out the trash?" Her response was, "it's up to you, it looks fine." We asked for a new batch or to be comp'd for the wings and she just argued with us to take the garbage wings. It wasn't until another friendlier waitress decided to loop in the manager that the issue was resolved. I genuinely enjoy this place but to have this person on the staff is putting this place at risk of losing plenty of customers and at risk of failing health inspections. I highly recommend the owners have performance reviews with the staff. Very disappointing. read more

I'm pretty surprised this place has such great reviews. My boyfriend and I went on Wednesday, it was about 5pm. Still super nice out so we wanted to go somewhere with outdoor seating and drinks. Once we arrived there was a good amount of people outside. So we sat inside but all the doors were open so it was a nice breeze coming in. It was not all that busy inside. We were there for about 10 minutes. Employees woud avoid eye contact. No one bothered to come by to our table. It like as if no one wanted to take our orders or speak to us. These two guys that worked there literally walked by our table giving us extremely dirty looks. I was absolutely confused. I would think all customers were welcomed? But apparently not at this place. After that encounter we realized this place did not want to serve us so we left and want to another establishment. I suggest being open to all types of people, this is definitely not a way to run a business. Extremely uncomfortable experience would not reccomend visiting. read more

My other half and I were looking (as we always are) for a good place in the area with a good burger. This was our first visit to Michael's. Was hoping to find a good new "favorite" spot, but unfortunately, this fell short. We arrived and sat at the bar around 7pm. There was a DJ located right behind us playing LOUD EDM and other dance music. We felt it was a bit early to have that vibe going. Also the bartender clearly couldn't hear over the music as we ordered and gave my BF the wrong beer (but we let that slide). Then we ordered some food. Their bang bang shrimp was delicious. That was the high spot of the evening! The burgers that we ordered medium rare came out well done (no pink in sight). Mine was dry and tasteless other than the blue cheese, bacon and onion rings on top. My BF's was a little juicier (perhaps it wasn't cooked to death as much as mine was). Ok, so food is meh. Then I ordered a margarita with silver tequila. They offered me Patron Silver (after the gal almost poured in regular Jose Cuervo gold by accident). Then the bill came and they charged us $14 for the margarita!! Really?? Fancy cocktails made with premium liqueurs by mixologists at better spots than this like The Archer, The Orange Squirrel only charge $10-12 a cocktail. So I'm paying for almost half a bottle of their Patron with one drink??? For a mediocre margarita at that. Total rip off for a local pub/dive bar. Needless to say, there are way better local spots and we won't be back. read more

Being from North Arlington, my Wife and I found this gem via yelp a few years back and is now one of out favorite go to places for food and a cold beer. The staff is friendly, bar is full of regulars and never a problem. The food is amazing; it's really a restaurant with a bar in my opinion because the food is just that damn good. I can't believe I haven't written this sooner! My fiancé and I moved to the area a couple of years ago and spent months looking for a local bar to be our go-to hangout for food and drinks. The search was really over once we found Michael's! Since we started going they totally expanded the space and now it's huge with so much more bar area seating. This is the perfect place to go on a football Sunday, they always have some specials going and it gets nice and lively. We usually go and split some apps (mozzarella sticks, the jersey wings which are amazing, pizza, loaded fries, pierogis...). My fiancé loves the Rueben here and gets it almost every time we go. Beer selection is decent. it seems like it's always the same bartenders/servers working and they're always super friendly and on top of everything service wise! It seems like there's a lot of regulars that come here and it's really no surprise. Anytime we try a different bar around here we're usually disappointed and say we should've just came here instead. read more

My hubby and I went here because we wanted to patronize a non-chain, local business so Michael's Roscommon fit the bill. We went last Friday at 5:30 and wow was the bar packed; fortunately we just wanted dinner and sat in the restaurant. At 5:30 we had our pick of seats, by 7:00 people were waiting for a table. The Portugese-style clams and mussels appetizer was delicious, the flavorful broth a tad spicy but could have used a few more mussels for the price. My husband thought his Cheese-steak tasty and I enjoyed the special Salmon and Shrimp Risotto in Pink Sauce. The portions were enough to take some home. The servers were very friendly - gave us on the house bread, coleslaw and pickles while we waited for our food. read more

Went there this evening about 4:15 and of course, it was packed. Could not get a seat or spot anywhere in the bar area. Was hoping to celebrate St Patrick's Day (evening) there. So we ended up on the restaurant side. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, no big deal. And, as expected, they did not offer happy hour on this side. We decide to stay anyway. I had 2 drinks, my husband had water. Took about an hour to get our main meal. Wing came out quickly, very good!!! His burger was very dry! And I got the corned beef and cabbage. My husband had been coming here for years and years but for whatever reason I never wanted to check it out until last week. There seems to be plenty of seats at the bar and if you can't get a seat at the bar there are plenty of pub tables (which I love). Lots of TVs - you can see from every seat in the house! Menu is extensive! My husband had a steak sandwich which was a real steak not those thin "steakum" things. I ordered french onion soup and a salad. The soup was delish and NOT salty which seems to be a challenge for most bar/restaurants and the salad was more than enough! I hope my husband wasn't trying to keep this place a secret for himself and his buddies ;-) because now I want to go back!! read more

Went there for the happy hour based on Yelp reviews. Their website said they had a pizza buffet which was great since we were going there right after work. We arrived at 4:45PM and ordered drinks. Female bartender was brusk. After 30 minutes we asked if the pizza buffet is still being served. She said it's not a buffet-- they just put a pie down and people help themselves but nothing was out yet. Hmmm, the happy hour begins at 3 and no pizza? About 10 minutes later they put down one pizza at which point about 4 men got up to get their slices. Luckily they were real gentlemen and allowed one of us ladies to take one slice. If not, we would have had to wait for another pizza to be made. I suggest they not advertise that they have a pizza buffet because that implies a variety and that it will be plentiful not one pizza every 2 hours for the masses in the bar. If there was more food, we would have ordered more drinks and not gone home for dinner. It makes sense for them to put down a few more slices of pizza and sell many more drinks... DAH..... The drinks were good and reasonably priced. The only time I saw the bartender smile was when we gave her a tip. Very hardened person. Just not what it used to be. I'm not sure why our server even asked how we wanted our burgers cooked. Two medium, one medium rare. All were served well done. Dried out and lifeless, with a terrible burger to bun ratio. 1/4 lb, 1/2 lb, served on the same tasteless oversized bun that may have been too large for the 3/4 lb-er.., On a positive, the onion rings were crisp and tasty. On a negative, the fries were not very good. Both may have been previously frozen. The fries clearly showed it--blech! Decent enough aps. Nice buffalo chicken fingers. Not over fried with what tasted like Franks Red Hot sauce. Good enough. Mozzarella sticks were absolutely fine. Our server was friendly and got the job done. No problem with that. Decent beer special until 7 which was reflected on the check. Nice to see an honest establishment. Comic relief was provided at 7 sharp when the house music was switched over to Jeopardy for the rowdy and competitive local crowd. Based on the burgers I don't think I'd return. The aps, while fine, were not "wow" to the point I'd come back for other menu items. Were I a local, I'd come for the occasional happy hour or sporting event. That's about it. read more

This place was awesome!! I only experienced the bar area but this is a great local bar with friendly patrons and bar staff. The night I was in they had a DJ there playing music that ranged from the 60s to now. I left around 11pm just before I could tell the real party was about to start but will definitely be back. This place is fun to go and hang out, have some drinks and wings. Hard to get the bartenders attention but when you do they give good service. The wings are great along with some other dishes. I got take out once, I ordered a pizza and a burger. NEVER order either of those. The pizza was just awful, I had one slice and threw it out... From the reviews and the constant flow of people I'd say this place is a great place to come to not only to eat but to have a good time with friends & family. The food was pretty good, my friends loved the fries, I tasted the mozzarella sticks & buffalo chicken tenders which I enjoyed. I ordered the spinach dip but I wasn't too impressed, if you're a spinach lover, I'd say go for it. They give you a big portion so I was able to get it wrapped to go and my husband enjoyed the dip at home. The waiter was friendly and checked up on us frequently which was great. Went for the first time last night with my husband during happy hour (3-7). The menu for half off appetizers was long and we went with the jalapeño poppers (6 pcs) which were okay by bar standard and also spinach dip which I loved! Super cheesy and lots of spinach! Not enough chips though for the amount of dip served. My hubby got the Jersey burger which he raved about and even used the side sauce which he never does! This place has never been a disappointment to my fiancé and I. We have been coming to Michael's Roscommon for a couple of years and I thought I'd write a review for this place. There are times when this place can be extremely busy, especially on UFC fight nights but the service is always top notch. Even in the busiest of crowds, the servers are prompt and very attentive. The drinks are always made well and the food is very, very good for a pub. I know we have never had our food arrive cold or not the way we want it. Recommendations: try the Jersey Wings. The garlic and Parmesan combination sauce will keep you coming back for more! The pizza is really tasty, baked to perfection with fresh ingredients, and the Montclair salad is particularly good. The cranberries and walnuts mixed with goat cheese and raspberry vinaigrette are in perfect balance. The appetizers here are filling and sometimes we order a few of them rather than an entree. You can't go wrong with anything in the menu here.
