I can heartily recommend this business as being reliable and very reasonable in their pricing. We had a 30 year old Hollywood Juniper that unfortunately was dying because of bark beetle. What can I say about a business person who does what he says he's going to do, when he says he's going to do it, and takes the time to even send you a thank you card for providing him with your business!! The first clue I was calling the right guy was when I called, someone immediately answered the phone (no voicemail as with other businesses of this type). He gave me a date and time and was even early! He came the following day, when he said he would, and removed a cumbersome tree off my front yard (the tree that Don Tiss Lawn Service never called me back on..), covered the hole and left it all clean and neat. He was punctual and dependable. I have to say, I admire his work ethic. The thank you card was such a nice touch. Never expected that, but I guess when you take pride in your work it shows in all aspects of your job. I've used Michael on and off as needed for 6 years. He is very reliable, fair priced, appreciative of your patronage, and courteous. In addition, I've never yet heard a word slip out that I wish my kids didn't hear (and I have two of them that just want to hang out and watch the cool stuff he does). Not sure this is the same guy! My experience so very different! Older guy with a pronounced limp? He did answer his phone, he was pretty prompt but after that???? He tried to flatter, then when I told him that I was going to get another quote, he was aggressive and dropped the F bomb twice referring to himself as a f...in Mexican. I had a very large tree removed in my front yard and I wanted to replace it with a smaller tree. But the person I hired (Mike's Tree Service) didn't grind the stump completely and left roots growing across the grass. So I found Michael's Tree Service on Yelp. I called, he came out, gave me an estimate and the next day he removed the stump and all the roots that the other guy left. Everything was raked clean and neat. I can't say enough good things about him. His excellent service goes to prove that you get what you pay for. He may not be the cheapest guy in town but he certainly is the best. While we were on vacation, one of our mulberry trees lost a large branch. We had been thinking about trimming, topping or removing them for awhile, and now that one was quite lopsided, it was time to do something. Michael is a man of integrity and keeps his word. How refreshing it is in this day to find someone like that. I needed a lot of work done on my property. I live in East Highlands Ranch. I had called about five or six different tree service in this area to do the work and they all made promises and never showed; no call back, no explanations, so unprofessional. I called Michael's Tree Service and spoke to Tammy who explained that Michael does not usually work in my area but would see what she could do. She called back the same day and said he would look at my property. He came that same Thursday to asses and gave me a reasonable price. He had estimated he would come the following Wednesday but followed-up with a phone call on Saturday morning to confirm for Thursday before 8:am. On Thursday before 8:am he and his crew were at my home as promised and did a fantastic job. Michael came out and trimmed a large overgrown tree in my yard for a reasonable price. Now it is beautiful! He then took out a nuisance tree on the side yard with surface roots, ground the stump and roots completely while he was out here. Got a large pile of wood chips for landscaping thrown in as well. We are very glad that we found Michael. We've used several tree services in the area over the years-some have been ok, some not ok-some had rates we felt were unreasonable, others had workers I'd rather not have on our property, you know the story. I remember the foreman of one local company informing me that a call he had to take was from one of his workers, who was in jail! There would also be services that were great the first time out, but then the next time something would not be right. We had Michael out to give us a quote on the trimming of a large tree. We ultimately decided to wait because it was far from the house and a dangerous job, but after meeting him we totally wanted him to help us with other projects. He came with references and copies of his insurance, workers' comp in hand, was pleasant, honest and candid about what he could and couldn't do, so we basically found something else for him to do. It was a big, unpleasant job involving many wild Pyracantha bushes grown to trees, and he trimmed them beautifully for a very reasonable price. He's very skilled, and managed to trim them four feet back without having them look butchered at all. He is knowledgeable about where is best to trim so that the tree is not compromised (no topping here.) He kept checking to see if what he was doing was ok with us, and wasn't happy until he did it just right. He left our backyard and driveway absolutely spotless. Most importantly, I felt comfortable having him around our place/kids/etc. and he's a nice guy that's easy to communicate with. We hope to keep him very busy! read more

I have a mixed opinion on this one. Michael did show up on time, he was personable, and seemed knowledgeable about his craft. He did a good job of cleaning up after himself. My gripe stems from the fact that he only did a portion of the original trimming he said he was going to do, and that is what the estimate was based on. He told me what he was going to trim. I asked about how many feet that was, he confirmed, and showed me where the new top of the tree would be in relationship to the house. I wanted to be very clear about what he was going to do. I did some rough calculations in my head as to how long I thought this project might take him, I looked at this estimate and approved the amount. When he was done, I paid him, and the area looked clean and tidy. A few days later I got to take a closer look at what he did because my wife was not happy with the results. He left about 8 feet more of the tree height than he said he would, and the upper side portion of the tree was still hanging notably over my neighbors yard, which is the main reason he was called out to trim in the first place. He trimmed up to a certain height, and everything over that height is still hanging over my neighbors yard. He performed about half of the estimated work, but still charged me the full amount of the estimate. I have paid less per hour for an attorney than I did for Michael's services. I left one message for him, but never heard back. He could have charged me 1/2 of what he did and still made well above average wages for this type of work. read more
