I hadn't been here for my grumbacher pre-tested artist's oils in quite some time. So when I went to the aisle that always had the vast selection of high quality grumbacher oil paints, I found only two brands. All were cheap and student grade, there was some Gamblin artists oils but I never heard of that brand. I wanted my pre-tested grumbacher which I have been using for 55 plus years. I flagged down a millinial employee who (as usual of millinials) was rude uncaring and clueless about oil colors. Probably clueless about everything else in the store. She just looked it up on her phone, said "you got to order that online (which I don't) and walked off. We are doomed. This next generation is nothing more than brainwashed no personality unprofessional tic tok morons that could care less about being pleasant and helping a customer. Pathetic. So I went back to the aisle and did my own research. I could get grumbacher pre-tested cadmium yellow light for $20 a few years ago. I'm not paying $40 for some unknown brand. So I bought what I thought was a professional grade, but ended up with cheaper paints. Go figure. (Explicit word) starts with "F". Went to check out and stood in line with a couple more millinial employee morons with their thumbs up their a__ until I realized everything is self checkout. Again, been a while. Downsizing their staff for a bigger profit but that's ok because quite frankly, their millinial dumdum staff sucks. This store has no future and a 5th of the shoppers I had seen in past years. Greedy cheap corporate owners doing everything to make more profit with the least "morons" possible and replacing quality with (explicit word). Starts with "S". This place is dog water. The service was fine....once you find an associate. This place is running a skeleton crew these days and im not talking about all the haloween merch on the shelves in mid August. I found 2 children's coloring books...yes only 2....at an arts and crafts store. Nothing else on my list was in the physical store but surely available online. Only saw one human at the cash register and she was closed yet there were MANY kiosks. I guess we're not supposed to talk to people anymore. The prices were nothing special condidering there is a minimal payroll. I felt like i was shopping in a warehouse. I don't do kiosks. I was to chat with the employees. Don't go here go to Hobby Lobby !!! Came in for one item in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. No cars in the parking lot, yet still I get stuck behind the ONLY other customer in the store ... waiting ...Waiting... WAITING ... They have more people working in the store than customers and you only have one register open. By the time I finally get my turn the register person is REQUIRING me to sign up for their Michaels program to get my MILITARY discount!!! I served 20 years in the Navy ... nowhere did it say I had to get more junk mail to get my military discount!!! Waste of my time ... I won't be coming here ever again! read more

Their customer service is top notch. I needed balloons for my niece's graduation and failed miserably at Party City. Joseph at Michael's saved the day and prevented a meltdown. From the cashier to the manager to the balloon blower upper, they had the "we're here to help you" attitude even taking his lunch late. A stark difference from Party City...nothing but attitude from the Manager mind you. I will be returning to this Michael's location for any future balloon needs and anything I need when on this side of town. You all rock!! read more

A challenge to get help in this store. This is not a reflection on current staff but moreso understaffing and limited floor assistance. Was hoping to get watercolor markers. Also tried to purchase a number of frames due to the buy one get one half off sign only to find upon checkout that it won't start for another three days. Misleading advertising is just that. The workers here are extremely rude and incompetent. I was next in line to checkout when one of the three cashiers said "we have self checkout kiosks" I specified that I would prefer to wait for an in-store employee to assist me in my purchase. She tried persuading me again, I said that I had a coupon, a question regarding a discounted item in my cart and that I had no problem waiting. She then got aggressive with me and demanded I use the self checkout kiosk and that if I had any questions she would assist me. She refused to provide any help and walked into the back of the store laughing and rolling her eyes with another coworker. I am extremely hurt and feel disrespected. I have always been a loyal Michaels customer, but I refuse to ever shop here again. read more

We stopped by today to get 2 posters framed and to get a frame for a third one. We dropped them off and we were told to go shop around and they would work on them right away. It took almost an hour and if they had told us that we would have left and come back. Given all that, the framing work that they did is first rate, they have that figured out real well. I came here to get a custom frame for a very oversized wall map. The lady at the counter was super helpful in explaining the process and walking us through ha design. They even had a 70% off sale. Imagine a $1000+ custom frame coming down to $250. Of course we were excited to jump on the deal. The order came in about 2 weeks later and the quality was excellent. The most amazing part though is that the lady who helped us in-store even delivered the frame to us personally in her own truck. We don't even live close to this location (about 25+ minutes away). I am new to the crafting community since I just purchased my very first cricut machine! I was in need of all of the tools needing to successfully make cricut crafts! I walked in and was greeted by an employee and asked if I needed help with anything. The employee was nice enough to help me find the type of vinyl I was in search of. She admitted that it was awfully messy in that isle and was going to make sure it was organized next time I came in. Clean store and helpful employees is always a plus! read more

It's a great place for your arts n crafts and they have occasional good sales but don't carry much in stock so get the item while you can because even when getting a rain check it takes long to get it restocked and you basically have to keep calling back daily because they never give you a specific date. So I officially live in Michaels this past year. There are days when I'm there twice in one day. Especially on those days where they have their 50% off coupon going on, and definitely on the extra special 60% off coupon days. Their prices start a tad high, but lower than other craft stores, and their coupons are often better. To get a $37 tube of paint for under $15 is a major score. I do wish their paint selection was a little bit more robust. They're missing a lot of colors and they have very little in larger tubes. But they have enough to help me get by. Their brush selection for acrylic paint is absolutely atrocious though. There's not a single brush line that is sufficient for professional paint. Which is a huge bummer. They have basically everything else arts and crafts that I go in looking for. Their paper selection is relatively good. They always have a lot of canvases stocked, too, and they're usually in good shape. Other locations in town seem to not take as good care of their canvases. I've found a bunch that were actually punctured on different visits. Never really had a problem at this location, thankfully. Since I'm here a lot, I've gotten to know the staff pretty well, too. And I totally love them all! They're super friendly and always take the time to have a short conversation with me or ask me how my painting is going. I appreciate their kindness. Stay away from Michael's framing department. I had two disappointing interactions with them, so I decided to write a review. First time they told me they do not sell plexiglass, but then another employee said they did. Second time showed complete indifference of positive interaction with paying customers. I called and spoke to Emily, I told her on their framing website I was having problems. She told me, no problem come on down and she can easily help me. After wasting 40 minutes of driving, they said that can't help me. Karyn employee and Steve the manger is just as incompetent as Emily. Michaels is like another universe to me. I'm not the art and crafts type and I'm easily distracted, so I rarely accomplish what I've set out to do when I come here. I got lost in the glitter aisle convinced that I totally need sparkles when what I really need is some glue, paint and construction paper.... However, If you go there with a game plan and STICK to it, Michaels is great for that specific item or project you plan to work on, but YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE, or you can really get lost in there! If you ask for some direction most times the staff is helpful. On my last visit, I was helped out by a woman who is also a pre-school teacher, so she gave all kinds of tips and tricks for my project and it was probably the first time I didn't buy something I didn't need. Today I was going to purchase a kit for crochet animals at the E. Broadway Store. I had a 40% off coupon to use from framing. I was told I could not purchase using the coupon because the instruction manual was like a book and coupons did not apply to books. I said that this was a kit with an instruction manual, but the manager on duty 2/13/2020 at about 2:30 said that did not matter. It was still a book. I did not purchase it. I've been coming to Michaels for years since moving to Tucson and for the first time I felt discriminated. I walk in with my daughter and 1 year old. I get greeted as I'm sitting my child in the cart and asked backpacks are no longer allowed in the store due to shoplifting. I tell the employee this is not a backpack I open it and show him diapers, wipes and snacks are in there and he can careless he still said too many shoplifters that I can leave my diaper bag in the front with him. What makes him anymore trustworthy to begin with I have my wallet and keys in there is he serious? I had to take my keys and wallet out and take my diaper bag to the car because I obviously have as not going ti leave it with him. So now my toddler is grumpy and I'm not even able to shop because I had to leave my bag in the car. I was racially profiled no doubt about it I'm Mexican and must have shoplifter on my forehead. If I should up with a diaper bag and no child then that's a red flag for sure. He really upset me. I really wanted to blow up on him and talk to a manager but I didn't want to lose my sh*t in front of my kids. Then I see two Caucasian girls walk in with huge totes they got to shop perfectly fine because they had white skin. Hire more employees instead of racially profiling and discriminating shoppers. This is my all-time favorite place to visit. Aside from the holidays, the place is never too busy and even during the holidays checkout is always really fast. The environment is great and friendly. My only problem, which is slowly growing into a bigger and bigger one, is how poorly stocked it is. I'm noticing this is not just a flaw of this one Michael's either, it's really bad all over Tucson. But the issue still stands. I sell necklaces on Etsy and use a certain pack of charms sold only there. The store has been sold out of them (I bought the last few) for almost a month-which is pretty ridiculous. I think as a casual buyer, you'll have a 5-star experience. But if you come frequently for a certain item, you might notice a lack of stock. read more

I'm torn between 3 or 4 stars...just because I feel a lot of their arrangements are overpriced. I love this location, they offer free or inexpensive fun arts and crafts classes for kids. The staff seemed a bit stressed and short handed during their slime event that I attended with my child. Over all my son enjoyed it, it was fun and it was free. My advice is that in the future they should make sure they clean their restrooms before an event starts where hundreds of kids come in to make things. They had them closed off completely for cleaning during the event, where they expected hundreds of families. I had to run all the way over to home goods with my little one, hoping he would make it. (Luckily he did) I digress. This location is conveniently located close to restaurants and other shopping areas so it's nice to shop, grab some supplies to make a project and grab some lunch. I will be back and look forward to attending other events as this was our first. Hopefully next time they will plan better with their staff and the restrooms will be good to go as well! I had a 50% off coupon off of a regularly priced item. Tried to buy Modge Podge, which was definitely NOT marked on sale AT ALL, and the coupon wouldn't work at the register. The cashier didn't know why it wouldn't ring up at first, until another cashier informed her it was because it was an "everyday low priced" item. This seriously disappointed me with Michaels, and isn't the first time I've had issues using coupons either. I will seriously consider whether to go there next time I need a craft item. read more

When I was a little girl, my sister and I would go to the cozy and friendly Michael's by our house, babysitting money in hand, and delightedly sort through bows and silk flowers and clips and all kinds of enticing craft supplies, which we would joyfully bring home to create accessories and projects. This Michael's is basically the diametric opposite of the Michael's in my memories. It's cavernous, dusty, and disorganized. If you're not familiar with the layout of the store, it's incredibly difficult to find anything, including a salesperson. On my last visit, I walked through the whole store without seeing a single person to help me find what I wanted (paint markers). There was discordant music playing. There were huge gaps on the shelves; things that weren't stocked, and hadn't been in a long time. Walking through this store is reminiscent of a nightmare. Eventually I found what I was looking for; the selection was meager and I got the last 2 pens in the color I wanted. One of them didn't work very well. A friend of mine who's a professional artist has reported that one multiple occasions he bought paint there that had been on the shelf so long that it was dried out. He kept complaining to the management; they refunded his money but they wouldn't take the bad paint off the shelf. He orders all his paint from France now. So sad. Without these coupons and sales stuff can be pretty expensive, but that is expected at most arts and crafts stores. Overall I like them, they are organized and fairly friendly. Michaels is a crafty-persons paradise. I love to come here and wander around. The store is pretty humongous and has anything and everything you need for your project. Michaels has pretty good prices and they always have sales going on. For example, today I wanted to buy a picture frame for my wedding pictures. Come to find out, a lot of the frames were BOGO. There are also classes that are offered like beginners knitting classes. The employees are usually pretty helpful though today there was a younger person (employee) who seemed to get into an argument with an older lady who was confused about framing I did not appreciate the employee being so rude. I am a domestic goddess in many ways but I am super uncrafty. I am pretty sure could glue gun my eyelids shut. Even if I didn't, my projects would most likely look like I did. However, now that I am with child, I feel the need to create and do projects. So, I packed the family up and braved the crazy holiday crowds. Back off Martha Stewart, there's a new crafter taking over. What? I have an active imagination, or perhaps grandeur or I'm simply delusional. I had a mission, to get in and get out. I had my sights set on acrylic paint, paper, Hodge Podge glaze, brushes and a clear Christmas bulb. Not wanting to dip my baby's hands and feet in toxins, a grabbed one of the store workers who were readily available. Insert sigh of relief. I got in and quickly got out- well after waiting in line for 10 or so minutes. Make sure you download a 50 percent off coupon on your phone. I'd pity the fool that didn't. Next stop: Joann's which was right across the street to find the clear Christmas bulb that Michaels was out of. I just cannot say enough about Colette at the Circle Plaza store on East Broadway! I was hoping to find two cases of mason jars to be used as centerpieces for a celebration of life, but they were out of stock at all the Michael's stores near me and online. Colette saved the day! To say that she went waaay above and beyond her duties would be an understatement -- yet I believe she's just that kind of person. What a great lady and what an asset to Michael's! I came with my kid to get some Halloween art stuff for him to make decorations and play with. It's only the first week of October and they are out of half the Halloween art stuff for kids. It's just a little ridiculous to be out of Halloween stuff before October. The website is not up-to-date because it says online they have all of it in stock. We still found some cool stuff like the reusable Halloween stickers. They have cheap stickers and build your own foam monster. They have a paint your own mask and build your own foam haunted house. They also had color your own puzzles too. read more

This store just feels.......stale. Stale merchandise (dusty, old) and it just feels chincy. Michael's is good when you need that one specific thing for that one specific craft project. I came here for some calligraphy markers to address some wedding stationery and they had what I needed. However, if I were coming for something more important or of higher quality (for example, some scrapbooking stuff or high quality paper) I would look elsewhere. One recent improvement they've made is the cashier line. Instead of individual lines, they now have one line and video screens at each cashier station and a paging system to let you know which cashier is open. It's nice to have a Michael's in town, but it may not necessarily be my first stop every time. read more

Sure the layout is dated, but like all Michael's stores, I almost always find what I want here. Sometimes the line is long and that sucks, but it's so worth it with the coupons you get off of their website. I recently had a painting framed here and was helped by the fabulous Karen who took the time to make sure she understood what I wanted. I took her matting and frame suggestions and the painting turned out PERFECT! I love it and Michael's with their custom framing sale! Yay! read more

Three stars instead of two because I almost always find my item -- however this is mainly due to my ferret-like skills of Finding. A trip to Michael's, like any scavenger hunt, requires a willingness to follow clues, look high and low, and retrace your steps. Don't ask for help, that's cheating -- and it'll slow you down. Another reason for three stars instead of two: I appreciate the weekly "40% off one item" coupon; sometimes it's 50% off. Sometimes it is the sole reason I buy the Sunday paper. And finally, three stars intead of two because I always go back, wait in the slow moving line, and spend my crafting dollars at Michael's. read more

Do you need stickers? Because Michaels has every kind under the sun. Run of the mill Michaels store - every crafty thing you can think of neatly arranged under one roof and just waiting for your wallet to open. They have a great scrapbooking section (did I mention the stickers?!) and an entire aisle of glue. If you need to adhere something....run, down't walk, to Michaels. Overall it's a very clean store, very organized, & the staff are helpful and friendly. I will say - a lot of the pre-made/arranged floral displays by the cashiers are absolutely hideous. read more

Oh wow. How have I never reviewed this place!?? They have a lot of choices of all kinds of things-- things to keep you busy and occupied for hours-- no wait-- days! The staff is almost always friendly and helpful. Unlike other places I've been to, many of the staff here actually know the items they sell and have been able to answer my questions about certain items! Wow-- imagine that. Their prices are reasonable and they almost always have some type of coupon you can use for an even better deal. I LOVE this store. A must for artsy crafty people. read more

I hate being reliant on this place for a product, and the reason is that the customer service is AWFUL, the wait times to check out are ridiculous, and they will be sold out of products that are basic, year round stock, for MONTHS on end. Today I went there to see if they had polymer clay that I use back in stock yet. It has been sold out for several weeks, and still was today. When I asked about it, I was told 'We may have some in the back, it might be on order'...etc. I let them know that it's been sold out for weeks, and was told 'NO! That can't be right' and she proceeded to scan it's bar code and said "Wow, 0 in stock, 0 on order, and 0 in transit!" You don't say... So, I asked if she could order some, and was told "No, we don't order anything, it's just sent to us." (Didn't she just say there is 0 on order?) She did tell me that EVERY other location had plenty of it, so I could go and get it. I could also buy a clay mine and dig my own, but I don't want to do that, either. She said I could go on the website and order it, but of course it's more expensive to do that. So, stupid me gets a couple of smaller products and goes to wait in line. Now their check out system studied under the Walmart check out system. One register for every 20 customers. I was 6th in line, and after waiting 15 minutes and the same folks were still being checked out, I left with nothing. That is pretty much the experience EVERY time I come here. read more
