The Michaels store in Woodbury is always a great experience, as I am not very crafty and the workers there make everything seems so much easier. I give huge props to Martha in the Framing area. She has given me so much advice on how to frame signed jerseys and how to make them look better. I was here on Sunday, Nov. 13th. So was everyone else! All Halloween and Fall products were on clearance 80% off, while Thanksgiving was already 60% off. Christmas items were all 40% off. The prices on the other items in the store were all various types of sales. Some sales prices were great deals while others (especially Christmas projects) were still not even a deal at all yet. There are no employees available anywhere except at the front check out. There were two check out lanes open and three self checkout computers. One employee had to stand near the self checkout to call people over to use them. The employees, including the one who was currently ringing someone up, would be yelling out to the line ... "If you are paying by credit or debit, there are self checkout registers open." Because I wasn't using self- checkout, the woman finished my order without ever talking to me except when she yelled across, "I can help the next person." There was no further talking. My items were simply tossed in a bag. Somehow 2 of the 4 spools of thread that I wanted to purchase got lost before I bought them. The store was hot, busy, chaotic, with a meandering line instead of one that followed the path they prefer because there were not enough associates. I did find all the items I needed. However, all categories of merchandise were spread apart because there would be some in the aisle and some in the end caps. It was a frustrating and still productive trip. My cashier (Betsy) was fantastic. I paid for my order online and forgot to use my gift card on the purchase. When I went in to pick it up, she took care of crediting my credit card and making sure I could use the gift card instead. This was also a super busy time at the registers, with lots going on. If I ever wanted to be yelled at in a parking lot for wearing a Packers shirt, along with my spouse, I couldn't imagine a better place than the parking lot of a Michael's in Woodbury. So much for Minnesota Nice! Aagh. Well, I guess they technically yelled in a nice way, so maybe that still counts, even if it doesn't. The store itself is crafty and chainy and all sorts of suburban anonymous, and it's really a place I'd rather forget. It's just too much for my snowflake spirit. But it's not bad either. read more

It's better than it's competitor, but that's not saying much! I need a roll of magnets! Why I signed up for the craft portion of this committee I'm on, I can't figure out. I went to another craft store recently because is was closer to me in search of these magnets. See other review. I walked into Michael's and asked the cashier if they had rolls of the magnets. She was the cashier so I give her a pass, she pointed me directly to where I needed to go. I found what I needed and at over a $1 cheaper I bought them. Here are my issues with Michael's - (a) they were not staffed. 2 cashiers and no one on the sales floor, or no one I could find to help me. (b) the cashiers were very unprofessional looking - messy and washed out black shirts and no name tag. I typically get swayed by the retro candy and $1 section, but I was in a hurry. I've decorated some of my home with miscellaneous items from Michael's, but this not my favorite location. read more

Use these guys for all of our framing needs. Good selection and framers are skilled. Can't say anything about the rest of the store since I never go there for anything else. Never pay anything more than 40%-60% off....as they always have coupons. Even if you don't have one, ask them, and they will usually have one available for when your framing project is done (usually takes 2 weeks). Believe they also honor expired coupons. read more

Please do not use the Woodbury, MN Michaels for framing! I dropped off two prints for framing on 11/25 to give as a Christmas gift. It's now 1/4 and I still have not received my order. The store keeps blaming UPS for a missing supply shipment. I've called numerous times and keep getting the run around. Such poor customer service and business management! read more
