Carlos and Julius and two wonderful guys! I saw a puddle under the car and was trying to find a new place close to my home. I found them and thought I would give them a try. I brought it in and Julius took a look and said to bring it back in for them to work on in two days once he saw what he thought the problem was and knowing I wasn't going to drive it. I brought it back and got a call that it was ready to go later that day. It wasn't as bad as expected and they even cleaned my front light covers that were covered buildup. They fixed the plug in the radiator, put in a solution to help the engine last longer which they threw in along with the front lights. And the price was beyond reasonable! They are hardworking, honest men who provided a great service for me at a very fair price. I was very happy to have found them and know where I will be taking my car from here on out. read more

I have never in my life been treated as disrespectfully and unprofessionally by a business. I came in on Friday afternoon and was told to come back in the morning and they'd fix my issue in 2 hours. I came to the shop on Saturday at 10:30am and it was closed. I called and they said they had an emergency so to come back. I came back and they said they were too busy and didn't have time to do it. At this point, Carlos steps in and says he will do it in 2 hours no problem. I leave my car there and call in 2 hours and he says "sorry we got busy, I couldn't do it." He proceeds to tell me I'm being "pushy" and that most customers just leave their cars and they have patience. Apparently taking a service professional at their word when they say "it'll be done in 2 hours, no problem" is a ridiculous thing to do. I should've somehow known he was being insincere? I tell him I'm on a tight deadline about to leave town and wouldn't have left my car had he not insisted it would be done in 2 hours. He again criticizes me for being pushy, and says he'll come on his day off (Sunday) to do the job. He calls Sunday morning and tells me I got the wrong part, texted me the picture of it and starts explaining some obscure detail that makes it the wrong part. I said "I have no idea what I'm looking at" and he replies, "DON'T BE DUMB, BE SMART. LOOK AT IT!!! IT'S VERY CLEAR THAT IT HAS 12 PINS INSTEAD OF 13." Apparently I should've known that I was supposed to be counting the tiny dots in the picture. It was incredibly condescending, and unnecessary, as why would I as the client need to know these details that I'm paying a PROFESSIONAL to do for me?! I tell him I have to leave town and don't have time to get another part, so I'll just come pick up my car. When I get there, I'm in a huge hurry and he insists on showing me the picture again and explaining the amount of "pins" was incorrect. Again, I tell him, "I don't understand these things, I just need to get my car and go" and he again says "DON'T PLAY DUMB, DON'T BE STUPID!!!! IT'S RIGHT HERE, SEE? 12 PINS, NOT 13 PINS!!! BE SMART!!!" I cannot believe he would treat a PAYING CUSTOMER in that way. He proceeds to charge me $100 for "wasting his time" bc he had to come in on his day off...when it was HIS FAULT for giving me an irresponsibly unrealistic time estimate. I was in a huge hurry so I threw the money at him and left. As I pulled out, MY STEERING WHEEL WAS BOUNCING. It wasn't steady as it usually is. I called to ask about that and he said "oh easy, you just turn the lever under the steering wheel." Again I told him I have no idea what lever he's talking about and that my steering wheel should've been tightened by HIM!! And he proceeds to say "you have google don't you? Look it up." Not only did these guys give me the run around and make me go back and forth making it seem like I was the last possible priority, THEY DIDN'T SOLVE MY PROBLEM, THEY LEFT ME WITH AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM, CHARGED ME $100 FOR SOMETHING THAT WASN'T MY FAULT, AND INSULTED MY INTELLIGENCE AND DISRESPECTED ME. I wouldn't trust these guys with a hot wheel car, let alone a real car. BEWARE OF THE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM, DISRESPECT, AND CARELESSNESS this business operates with. I found this place here on Yelp. Thought I give them a try. Very nice guys here. I brought my truck in about my radiator was leeching. They put a pressure test and yep, not good. Made plans to bring it in today not a problem getting it in. Dropped my truck about 9 and by 3 it was ready. Should me the old one and WOW, it was starting to rot out. They told me the cost and did not charge full price what was done. I will come back to them. Great job read more

I have a 2001 Ford Escape and for the past several years I've been going to see Carlos to keep it running great. (Also have taken my wife's 1998 Infiniti I30 there.) Each time I come in, I think this might be the last time as the car seems to really need major work every few years. But each time, I leave, I end up with a great car that has no problems for the next few years. He's replaced the fuel pump, the alternator and most recently the front brakes and rotors. Also the past time he spent some time replacing both entire headlamp assemblies. I'm always surprised at the great value and great pricing for the amount of work he does. He tells me exactly how much labor hours he spent, how much parts cost, etc. Very happy with Michaux! read more

Read the reviews and everyone wrote about Carlos' honesty and indeed is he honest. It's like he is aware there are many shops out there scamming people for their money. Just because we live in the Bay Area doesn't mean we all throw away our money. If you're looking for an honest shop to get work to your car done, this is the place. His prices are also great, I had a power steering issue and Carlos went through all of the possible culprits before he took the plunge to change the power steering pump. Carlos & Julius Michaux are the real deal. I only found them because I searched Yelp for Auto Repair near where I live, and I checked them out because they had all 5-star reviews. I'm really glad I did, especially since I just moved here and needed to make sure I found someone reliable. I took in my car with some overheating problems and an EVAP issue. I thought I needed a new thermostat but it turned out I needed a whole new radiator instead, and Carlos worked all weekend (even Sunday) to make sure he knew 100% what the problem was and ensured I was all set. The EVAP issue was just a valve that needed replacing, and he took care of that, too. The total bill was several hundred dollars less than I was expecting, and they are clearly very gracious of any business they receive. It's obvious they take great pride in what they do and appreciate their customers fully. I'm very happy I took my business to Michaux Automotive and I would recommend them to anyone. I've been a long time customer for this shop. Over the years Carlos and Julius have worked on my 1998 Honda Civic LX, 2004 Saturn Ion, and my now 2001 Honda Civic EX. From general maintenance to larger problems they've always been able to fix my car in a timely and affordable manner. No matter what the issue is, they always have a few different options for me and always explain to me the best and worst case scenario. I'll admit I have very basic knowledge about car maintenance so I do appreciate that they always let me know when I should expect to swap out my tires, change brake pads etc. Every time I visit the shop they teach me something new about how to care for my car. read more

I had an accident and I thought I would need replace my bumper which would cost nearly 1000 bucks. But the brothers restored the shape of my bumper, just leaving a negligible cleavage in the front. The car looks nicer than what I expected. So far on-road testing has no problem. 100 bucks per labor hour is pretty cheap regarding this service quality. Took my car in for a minor repair and left with a electrical issue as well as smoke coming out of my exahust and my muffler is no good. I paid a ASE Certified Mechanic to check the work u did for me Carlos and he said it was below Mediocre. You know what u did and it's all good . These guys are life savers (figuratively and maybe literally). My interior fan stopped working a while back and I just decided to live without it. I can open my windows in the summer and bundle up in the winter. But I discovered once it got cold that I had extremely limited visibility when the windshield fogged up and I couldn't turn on the defrost. It got to the point that I was legitimately afraid that I was gonna hit some poor guy crossing the street because I couldn't see him. So I dropped my car off on Friday with a vague description of the problem. I know shamefully little about cars and honestly I'm the model customer to be swindled because I would have no choice but to believe anything a mechanic says. But Carlos is a good man. He was able to find the issue and fix it by the next day. He explained over the phone in very simple terms what the issue was and how he fixed it. It even cost way less than I was afraid it would. I wish I had gone to this place sooner, my car would have been much more comfortable during the summer heat. And now I don't have to worry about killing anyone while driving blind.
