He repaired my 2015 Tesla Model S front trunk and other associated damaged parts (hinges, ripped cowl). On top of that, Ray's communication skills are top notch ... he takes the time to explain options, processes, parts - he even Facetimed me to show the parts under the hood. Ray was resourceful and creative in making braces to fasten (and make stronger) the cowl. He notified me to tell me there were missing bolts. I could not be happier with Ray's work. Ray Acuna is a really talented automatic expert who charges reasonable prices for excellent work. He repaired my 2012 BMW 535 series trunk that has a huge dent/rip in it and a shattered rear window. In just a few hours, he was able to straighten the window trim edge and also reduce the dent so that it could be closed. That allowed me to have the windows replaced and the trunk could be opened and closed. The trunk lid has to be replaced as that is more cost effective, but his work allowed me to have the trunk fixed and glass replaced by the glass place next door. He helped coordinate all that work, having the entire work done in 3 days as promised. His repair made the roof look pretty good as a temporary fix, but that was exactly what I wanted and it was a third of the price quoted by Prestige Auto of Campbell. read more

There are numerous reasons that I cannot recommend for the sake of the consumer protection. I brought my Lexus after a car accident. I heard their workmanship is great, but unfortunately I experienced quite opposite and I collected evidences. A. They used tools and parts from my trunk bottom section where a spare tire gets stored, and they left them indoor cabin and scattered in the trunk when I picked up the car. When confronted later, they said they could not put them back there was no space; while they could retrieve them from the same place. This forces the customer to clean up after their mess. B. They performed incomplete job. My car has Lexus logo at the back. Can you guess there I found it after picking up my car? Inside trunk, in a carelessly abandoned manner. It is like the auto repair shop collects the fee, but the customer takes care of the final completion. C. Poor workmanship. Look at the photo attached, and how my hind and the trunk no longer match. The gap is easily 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch off. Did they explain why and compensate for this? No. D. When I had to request rework on my car, they promised me to call me to see if the rework is going to take more days, or it will be complete on the same day. They promised to do but they did not. I was waiting for their phone call by 5:30pm, only to find out they went home after 5pm without notifying me about the plan. E. They left my car key to neighbor shop, without permission - telling them to give the key back to me when I come. That's right. They treat the customer asset carelessly as if they do not care. This is outside the business practice we expect. This is quite an under-developed practice that I cannot expect from this country. F. Wrong receipt. At first they issued a receipt of about $4K while the true cost is $6.3K. I had to revisit the store and get it issued again. Now which proper business would issue an invalid receipt? I have evidences about all of the above. I have more issues from this shop, but only with incomplete evidences; but the stories about the poor workmanship and poor communications from this shop grows. If the shop does not acknowledge these issues, then for the sake of the consumer protection, I can consider releasing more issues. read more

They do kind of sloppy work, left air filter loose after preliminary Inspection; causing the check engine light to come on. Luckily I was able to use my scan tool and look under the hood and fix it myself. Also left a trim piece off on the door. I had a rather complicated problem with my door which they were able to fix so I have to give them kudos for that. read more

Randomly called nearby auto repairs as I had a plastic flap hanging down from underneath my vehicle that would drag on the road and kick up gravel (result of driving over curb and the recent flooding from all the rain). The manager here told me to come in around 3pm since all his workers were at lunch. When I came in, he immediately put my car on the lift and secured the plastic tray with new plastic bolts with no charge. I was so surprised as I know many auto repair and mechanic shops will try to nickel and dime you for every little thing. Mr. Dastgah and his staff were all super helpful and kind! I got very great experience here. Check Engine light and some other lights came on and my car didnt start well. I came here without any appointment seeking for emergent help. Guys are so nice and helpful. They did a check for me and share the results. They told me that it is possible caused by a defective battrry or more serious system problem. They suggest i got battery to be replaced first since my cutrent battery (purchased in costco)still have warranty. I went to costco and purchased a new battery. And it takes less than 20 mins to get the battery replaced and tested. My car works great again. I asked how much i should pay. It ends up i just need to pay 30 for the battery installment fees. At last i went to costco to return the old battery and got refund. I am very glad the issue which appears so critical can be resolved in just few hours with 30 bucks. Nice place! I bring my Audi R8 here to install side skirts, they were able to install it in a very short time. Technicians are very friendly and professional, they put good protections during work to protect painting of my car. The chassis of my car is low, but they were able to find smart way to lift it to install the side skirts without risk of damaging anything. They also helped me to scan the warning codes of my car, Josh helped me twice on that, he is a super nice guy, always willing to help. Almost ten years later, I decided to return to Sunnyvale Auto Repair and discovered a new owner was in place. Spoke with Frank who agreed to take on a project involving a 1960s-era Mustang that had been sitting in the garage for 2 years. He and his crew gave it the love and attention it needed: Checking the quality of the gasoline, new battery, replacing belts, removing cracked gaskets, new brake shoes and an oil change. They went above and beyond with an engine cleaning (under the hood has never looked so good), tracking down all the little leaks and fixing a long-standing problem with the choke. The car drives like a dream now: I regularly take it out on Sunday and I don't have to worry about the idle dropping too low when I stop. The mechanic went above and beyond by painting the air intake filter to match the original car colors! Frank was very up front with the costs, calling to discuss the quote and not performing work until I'd signed off. A month after paying them $611.00 to fix alignment, oil change,..and a few other issues..my car pulls to the right severely, and when I make u-turns in the truck..it sounds like a bolt is snaping.. I have called called called and they do not answer their phone,..I have left messages...they do not return them..I literally have tried to call three times today and the phone answers and no one is there..But the fact that they don't return my messages is just crap! My wife and I have had Dannicks for taking care of our cars or 10 or 15 years. Their work is excellent and they take pride in being honest in their dealings. They took very good care of my Ford ranger and my wife's Plymouth Voyager. My wife likes Dan and Nick who would take time and talk to her about her car, remembering her previous visits and conversations. She does not view them as mechanics, but her friends who take care of her car. (Nick has since retired - but she still remembers that he would take time off each year and drive around the country in his motor home doing charity work.) Everyone wants to find an honest mechanic and a mechanic who can actually fix the problem rather than replace parts in hopes things get better. "JACK the RIP OFF!" I used to love this place, but now I have to say that under the new ownership, it has been HORRIBLE! Dan is a great man, but his replacement, Jack, is unbelievable. I recently had work on my car and later learned that he suggested repairs that were unnecessary. Prior to taking my car in I had a diagnostic test done which showed me results as to the work that was needed. I decided to take my car in to Dannicks and was told that something else was in fact wrong with my car. This concerned me as a client and I will NEVER take my car back there again. Dan is the most honest car mechanic you will ever meet. I have numerous occasions where some "mechanic" (see WheelWorks review) tells me I need a few thousand dollars worth of work. I always take my car to Dan and he gives me the real run-down. He calls me and tells me what must be done, what could be done if I have some extra money, and what we can just wait for. Totally honest and never trying to push a big price tag out the door. Dan actually seems to be excited to tell you that your car only needs $75 of repair instead of the $1,500 someone else said needed to be done. From my experience, the honesty at Dannicks is just as superior as the quality of their work. On the few occasions where I have had substantial work done that resulted in a decent price tag, Dan did everything in his power to give me the best deal. I read on other reviews for Dannicks that you feel like they are your friends taking care of your car and not your mechanics. That may sound a little cheesy, but I can say it is completely true in my experience. My parents have taken their cars to Dan for years and it really is just like calling up your friend and not some car mechanic trying to rip you off because you are naive. If you live anywhere near Dannicks, you absolutely must make Dan your new mechanic. I am moving hours away from Sunnyvale but you better bet that I will be back to Dannicks the next time I have trouble with my car. In all of my dealings with Dan & co., I have been thoroughly impressed with their honesty and work ethic. On the way to the work heard a grinding noise coming from tires. Dropped off car at 10am without appointment. Estimate of work was called to me at at noon suggesting to replace front brakes. Told me rear brakes had a few more months to go and don't need replacing now. Work was complete by day's end and car is driving without any issue. read more

Awesome job by Mo and the crew yet again. I have seen them 3 times. The first, they took care of me when a different shop had put the wrong size brakes on my car. Today, they completed a laundry list of fixes I requested. I had been quoted around $2500-$3000 at other shops which considering my car is worth probably $4500, no way I would ever spend that kind of money at this point in it's life. On behalf of my 70 year old mother...this place is HORRIBLE! My hard working mother has owned 3 new minivans since the mid 80's. All the vans were serviced at Dannicks.. She's paid THOUSANDS of dollars to dannicks over 30 years.. She had her newest minivans brakes serviced before her trip to Wyoming..simple..right.. Dannicks forgot to tighten the entire brake caliper.. Causing catastrophic damage..the entire brake caliper came loose 100 miles outside Reno.. Absolutely destroying every part of the front brake system..even destroyed the aluminum wheel.. Even though she could have been KILLED..she understood it was a mistake.. After paying a 100 mile tow.. hotel for 2 days..parts and labor at the Toyota dealership..to fix the problem.. She is now set back OVER $3500.00 as well as canceling her Wyoming vacation...still..she understands things happen some times. My very honest and gracious mother just wanted Dannicks to pay half the $3500.00 bill.. She's reasonable..but her purse has always been slender.. which is why She goes to him in the first place Now Dan's examination.. '' that's Your fault for taking it to the dealer " and "i would have found a wheel for allot cheaper" Also " take me to court" DANNICKS WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP! My modest mother understands humans make mistakes and had confidence that Dannicks would make this nightmare right.. She was so shocked by Dannicks responce she couldn't believe it.. I took my car to this shop to get a 2nd opinion. I had another shop diagnose a clanking noise my car was making - they had told me I needed new motor mounts and a transmission rebuilt. Dannick's found that all I truly needed was 2 nuts on bolts holding my transmission to the frame. They saved me about $1400 worth of work.
