We've done family photos with Laura twice now - both amazing experiences. The first time was a mini-session at a local park, where she captured an amazing number of beautiful photos of our family in multiple configurations (individual portraits, mom and dad, whole family) in just 15 minutes - like magic! Our kids were just 2, 4, and 7 at the time, and we were just coming out of COVID, so they weren't used to meeting anyone new (or doing any kind of photo session!)... but she somehow had them smiling, posing, and cooperating immediately and the whole thing was done in a flash. I left that day thinking, "Wow, this is what a professional photographer can do!" When Grandma wanted to do a multi-generational session with our extended family, I knew who to go to! Laura made our family photos comfortable and fun - dare I say, relaxing? She provided information for us to pick a gorgeous location, coached us gently on how to pose naturally, and had good rapport with our kids (and with Grandma). Our first experience with a professional photographer was everything and more! My husband and I are shy when it comes to taking pictures but Laura made us feel very comfortable. We booked a fall mini session which is 30 min. We were actually late due to my 1 year so we had 15 min left but she managed to take great shots! I loved how they came out! I asked Laura to come into San Francisco and shoot some photos of my dog, Rufus and I for my blog, Canines & Couture. We decided on Crissy Field which, as I'm sure you're aware, isn't exactly a short trek for Laura, given she lives in San Jose. She brought her Boxer, Rudie along too, which we were tickled by (especially Rufus who had a blast playing with Rudie). To say that the weather conditions were less than ideal out at Crissy Field that evening would be an understatement of epic proportions. It was FREEZING and the wind was so fierce that it felt like I was standing on the wing of a flying aircraft. Forget about my hair; it was wild mess. I was shivering. I literally thought I might die (and this is when I realized I could never survive a winter on the East coast). Laura, however, didn't complain one bit. She got right to it, snapping away as if the weather was perfect. She had a fierce determination to get it right, despite the fact that I looked like a wind blown freak. I left the photo shoot feeling so bad that she had come all that way to do a photo shoot where the subject was a cry baby and probably looked terrible. And then something magical occurred; Laura sent me a CD full of usable, beautiful images. As I scrolled through them all I was shocked that despite the conditions, they were gorgeous. That's talent, right there. God only knows what she's capable of when she has a subject who isn't wind blown and bone chillingly cold. We hired Laura for newborn and 6 month photos. The photos from both shoots turned out phenomenal! Laura is able to capture both intimate and playful moments in a way that is flattering for all and beautiful enough to display. She's responsive and both times we received the full album quickly. During the shoot Laura is great at providing direction when needed... prompts to adjust my hair or turn slightly were enough to produce great photos without feeling too staged. When my daughter got engaged my biggest priority for the wedding was a great photographer! I hadn't hired a professional for my big day and have regreted it since. Once it's over, all you have are the photos! So I was determined to capture every moment of my daughter's special day. I found Laura on Craig's List. It was during the holidays and she was advertising sessions at a nearby Christmas tree lot. I was drawn to the flyer and the photo (of her adorable daughter) on it. I checked out her website and discussed it with my daughter and we agreed to give Laura a try. We were married this past May, and Laura's photography was absolutely what we dreamed of. I made it clear I did not want oodles of posed photos--that I really wanted to capture the candid moments of our day. We had an outdoor family style picnic wedding, complete DIY, and Laura captured every detail of our hardwork as well as our friends and family, and most importantly, us! I have a five year old daughter, so needless to say, there were kids running around everywhere. We had a hoola hooping contest and played horseshoes, and Laura captured all of it in incredible style. We had a wonderful time with Laura and the pictures turned out amazing! She made us feel very comfortable and gave instruction so we didn't have to come up with ideas on our own (though she was also open to doing any pose we felt like doing as well). I would highly recommend Laura Pope Photography!! I hired Laura to take my baby's newborn pictures. I emailed her last minute, and she worked me into her schedule before leaving for her vacation! It was such a pleasure to have Laura come to our home for the photoshoot. She brought all the props and proper backdrops to make for a stunning set up along with all of her professional equipment. She was very gentle and patient with my baby, even when we had to take a break for a feeding session. You could tell she was truly enjoying herself when she was taking the photos, and I could tell my baby felt calm with her as well. The photos Laura took are so artistic and her eye for detail and what looks good in a photo is amazing! I would also like to point out that with Laura, you get your moneys worth, and its not like a lot of photographers where they charge you an arm and a leg for the photos afterwards. her prices are VERY reasonable and she makes sure that there are tons of good shots and she takes her time editing, making sure they are of the highest quality finished product. She also includes an online gallery and a disc that you get to keep, which is also something other photographers don't do and she also is very clear when you are signing the contract of what all you get so that there are no surprises at the end. She has a couple of baby packages that are such a good value for the money. She also does maternity, wedding and all sorts of other stuff so she is a well rounded photographer with many different areas of expertise. I spent a lot of time researching photographers in the San Jose area and she is the best I have found. I will now have Laura handle all of my photography needs. I've been meaning to leave this post for a long time! We did a family photo shoot when our daughter was 3 months and we just got engaged. Since I didn't have any professional newborn photos or photos of the proposal this was a really exciting and important photo shoot for us. She was very responsive the entire time before our appointment, answering any questions I had. Day of- she was on time and just such a pleasant person to work with. I found Laura Pope Photography by googling 'natural newborn photography in San Jose' and am so happy with the results! We did a newborn session when our daughter was 11 days old. Scheduling was easy, Laura was prompt and ready to go. She was very patient and at ease with our newborn and was happy to include our dog as well. We had fun doing the shoot and the experience was very positive. Then we got the results! Our pictures exceed my expectations and I know I will treasure them forever. I loved her style from what I had seen on her website, and she stayed true to this 'natural' style which to me is more family photography and less posed pictures.
