I've seen Dr. Claire Chu twice now, once a year ago and again yesterday. She is very professional,…read morecaring and easy to talk to. Last year I was referred to her since my regular eye doctor diagnosed cataracts. Dr. Chu checked my eyes and said I was borderline needing the surgery and suggested I wait. I was glad she was honest and not just trying to get a patient into surgery to make $$. This recent visit confirmed what I already suspected, it was time ito schedule cataract surgery. I noticed that I was having trouble driving at night and was relying on my glasses a lot more. I've got a pre-op appointment scheduled and the surgery as well as the post surgery appointment. The office staff was friendly and very helpful. The office observes Covid-19 safe protocols. Masks required, temperatures are taken, a place for clean/dirty pens. I feel I am in very good hands here!i

I had long forgotten that this is indeed a beautiful world with so many beautiful colors before the surgery, but now, it feels like a completely beautiful new world to me. Dr. Larry Taub was so skillful that I experienced almost no pain at all after the surgery. I was able to go back to my normal routine almost immediately starting next day. He was very patient and understanding. He eased all my nervousness and worry before the surgery and he made sure everything goes right after the surgery in my follow-up visits. The staff of Dr. Taub's office are very professional, effective and friendly also. I highly recommend Dr. Larry Taub for anyone who needs a cataract surgery.

I am a…read moreretired plastic surgeon and know the Plano medical community well having practiced in Plano for 30 years. Fifteen years after a very successful cataract surgery on my right eye with no problems, I was on a golf trip in Baja California with my buddies and my lens decided to dislodge out of the back of the pocket it was positioned in. Dr. Frazee made arrangements to see me right away when I returned to Plano, made an immediate diagnosis with an urgent exam, and referred me the same day to both retina specialist and corneal specialists as secondary lens implantation is a niche specialty itself. I have fully recovered andI could not have received better care by any of the eye surgeons anywhere. Kudos again to Dr. Frazee.

Today I received a bill for a test that I thought was part of a regular exam. I'm a little upset to say the least, as I was not informed of the extra charge. It was a field of vision test. $74. The refraction test is an extra $55 but I was made aware of that. All totaled, the bill was $785 for that day not including the tests that I paid for! The ins.adjustment was $505. So I paid $279.50 and now they want another $74.50.

The real issue was optical prescription. I took it to Costco to make lens. Upon receiving the new lens, my vision became a lot worse because my left eye could barely see anything. Opticians at Costco suggested me to go back to Key Whitman for an re-exam. The second time I had the same lady (not sure if she was a licensed optometrist). The exam equipment was ill prepared. The chart was not even in the center of my view. We struggled a lot with the machine to get through the exam. I took the new prescription to Costco. The optician saw the results and told me that it was impossible that two exams would yield such different results within 10 days timeframe. They strongly suggested me to get a second opinion from another optometrist. I later went to a new independent optometrist office, paid exam fee to get a new exam. This time, I noticed that in this other optometrist office, the service and equipment were day and night comparing to those at Key Whitman Allen office. Now I am wearing the new lens from the latest eye prescription and cannot be more happy with it.

I said I would write another review after my surgery and share my experience, so here I am! A few days prior to my surgery, they called to confirm my appointment, asked if I had any questions, and offered a prescription for valium. They did a great job making me feel confident about moving forward with the surgery. Upon arrival, they took my payment and put me in a patient room so that Dr. Ahmad could further discuss what I should expect after surgery, recovery time, and over the course of the next few months. FYI: I was having Xanthelasma growth removed from both eyelids. Dr. Ahmad does surgery on site. It wasn't much different than the patient room other than a table full of surgical tools and bright lights. I was given a squishy toy to hold and was told not to touch my face. For this procedure, I was given local shots for numbing (this is why they offer the valium to reduce your anxiety). Dr. Ahmad talks to you as well as his staff. The time goes by fairly quickly! I went home and I followed Dr. Ahmads post-surgical instructions. He gives you his personal cell phone so that you can reach him directly if you need him, I really appreciated that. I wasn't prescribed any pain meds -- I was worried about that, but honestly, I was not in pain. I took Tylenol PM to help me sleep the next couple of nights. Then there was that moment that I needed to contact Dr. Ahmed directly, so I did. My body was rejecting the stitches. This required me to go back in and get more stitches in both eyes. No matter how many times I text or called, Dr. Ahmad's office helped me every step of the way. Today, my next appointment is 8 weeks away for my final follow-up. I want to share my experience with you, and this is a huge vulnerability for me to post pictures like this of myself.
