When the MA took me back to a room, I told her my concerns and expressed that the dry skin was slowly making its way down my back. She took her notes, and left the room for about 10-20 minutes. When she returned, an NP was with her. The NP asked to look at my neck, and within a minute told me she would prescribe a pill, water solution, and shampoo/conditioner. Asked if I had any questions and left. She never looked at the patches on my back or told me why this condition could have occurred. She was in the room for less than 5 minutes, but my insurance had a charge for $475. When I arrived at the pharmacy to get my prescriptions, the shampoo and conditioner weren't included. I was told that they got the script, but were unable to fill it at that location, so they weren't sure why it was sent over. I've tried the topical water solution for a few months now, but the dryness is still present. I did not return for my follow up appointment, as the initial encounter felt rushed.

Derm Institute however exceeded my expectations by quite a bit! I came in with a list of ailments and Dr Nartker had quick likely diagnoses and solutions for all of them. I've had an issue with redness and breakouts on my face and he prescribed medication and a topical that started healing a year long problem in ONE week. I am thrilled! Lovely office, stellar doctor (highly recommend Nartker), and solved skin issues! I'd end by saying that I'll absolutely return to this office.. but I'm actually thinking I won't have to return to any office since they've resolved my issues!

Office appears to be recently redone - bright and comfortable. Rooms are also nice and clean. The ipads to fill in forms and sign waivers was a nice touch instead of filling out multiple papers. Although I was brought back to the exam room a few minutes past my scheduled appointment time, I was extremely happy with the pace of the visit/ exam. The nurses and the Dr. were all very courteous and kind. I felt all information was relayed to me in a very easy to understand manner. All my questions and concerns were addressed. The exam was very thorough and detailed. I felt comfortable with the amount of time the Dr spend with me and i did not feel rushed or that anything was just "quickly scanned" over. All in all I was very impressed with my first visit and will be making all necessary dermatologist appoints with this office moving forward.

When I called and asked about all the extra charges, I was told the lab had to do extra tests. Hmm, was something wrong? Oh, they cant tell me. You mean to tell me I paid an extra $300+ to have additional pathology done and you refuse to tell me what those results are?!?! I would have to schedule an appointment so that they could make more money. Still have no idea if the skin they removed was cancerous 8 months later. I will never return to this place. What a joke!

I believed it was at 9:30 a.m., but it was actually scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Rather than simply helping me reschedule, I was told I would have to pay a $50 missed appointment fee. I understand that offices have policies, but I was hoping for a little grace given the circumstances and the fact that I have been a patient for a few years. That $50 cost them a returning customer. I won't be coming back. It's unfortunate when it feels like policy and revenue are valued more than long-term patient relationships and compassion. (I hope that steak dinner was worth it... who am I kidding it's 2026, hope the McDonald's happy meal was worth it.)

Kelsey is not a kind or patient person and has made it impossible for me to receive my medication due to her inaction, all because i don't have a voicemail and she doesn't like that. The front desk staff are also all very short and not friendly, not sure if it is because one person telling them to be unhelpful or if it is just their attitude in general. Go anywhere else.

My daughter has been suffering with HS for about a year. She's seen doctors and other…read moredermatologists but nothing seemed to help or calm the condition. Finally I called West Michigan Dermatology and set up an appointment. Although they are booked out quite far (we called in November and she got an appointment in March) I must say the wait was so worth it. She saw Dr. Strikwerda for her first appointment. She was completely nice and knowledgeable about my daughters condition and gave us a few options on how to take this thing on head on. She informed us some options work better than others but each person responds differently. She gave my daughter a treatment in the office and switched her medication. After a year of watching my daughter suffer and be in pain from this condition, just one day after seeing Dr. Strikwerda, she had some relief. The inflammation decreased and for the first time she wasn't in pain. While we know this is just the first step in a long road ahead I am so appreciative of just that one visit. After a year of her suffering just to see her almost back to herself was wonderful. Thank you West Michigan Dermatology and Dr. Strikwerda. I'd definitely recommend you to anyone that asks.

Danielle walked me through every step and answered all questions I had before I could ask! Not only was this a wonderful experience, but I will surely be coming back for more treatments here based on how I was treated! The BBL treatment itself was smooth but of course a little pain was expected. Where the skin is thinner was probably a 7/10 (under eyes, around your nose) everywhere else 4/10 and manageable. The Moxi you are prenumbed and that's probably a 1/10 or 2/10. You don't feel that at all. AFTER however is a different story, expect a sunburn like feel! I would say immediately after treatment for 1-2 hours after is uncomfortable. After that it's breezy. Follow you're given directions and you're good to go! I am 6 days post, and my skin is looking absolutely wonderful. I can't wait in a couple of weeks for the healed result. Thank you so much Danielle and the staff for making me feel comfortable!
