Tonight I finished my holiday shopping for my niece and picked up a couple of beautiful gifts. The kids section contains high-quality merchandise. My hubby was literally double-parked outside, and I thought I could just run in and out, but no way. I wanted to buy the entire collection! From adorable natural cotton baby clothes to books, to stuffed animals, to toys, you will not leave empty-handed. They have something for every budget, and I think the prices are spot on for the quality. I truly admit to being completely obsessed with an adorable owl stuffed animal. Sooooo cute! Now, the best part about this store? Well, aside from the well-curated merchandise, is the owner. She's a total sweetheart and helped me pick out the perfect gift. She also gift-wrapped it in a super cute burlap bag with my choice of tissue color and a tie. Thank you...thank you. I'm so happy to see that this store is around. I need to stop in more often. Of course, not just for baby gifts, because they have grown-up goodies and cards too. Run, don't walk to this store. You won't be disappointed. Plus, it's super cute inside.

You know you have little ones at home when you pass by a new store and can't get a nursery rhyme out of your head. Yes, there's a new store in Glencoe...whoo hoo! I haven't done much shopping in town since Shirise closed their doors earlier this year (RIP), but it's fabulous to have a store where you can quickly pop in for a housewarming gift or just a little something for visiting a new baby. In the few weeks BlackSheep has been open I've stopped in twice to purchase: a) a lovely candle for the host of dinner during the jewish holidays b) a lovey for a new baby visit (the "real" gift wasn't ready quite yet) And of course I can't forget the few times my pre-schooler has dragged me in there for "just a few pieces of candy." Based on the fabulous candy display they have set up I have a feeling we'll be spending lots of time (and $) at BlackSheep. Welcome to the hood BlackSheep!

This store carries so many unique items that you wouldn't find at traditional places. For example, the cat stress toys! (See pic), stickers, Korean and Japanese galore. The owner is also super friendly and helpful. She helped us locate products that we might like. Definitely a fan and I will be back!!

We also ordered a chocolate shake, and they began to make it with chocolate ice cream ... when we interrupted and said we'd like it with vanilla ice cream, they almost plotzed. The server just wasn't sure how to do it (as info, we are talking about vanilla ice cream, a little milk, and a couple splashes of chocolate syrup). Anyway, since we were starting to feel like we were more trouble than they could handle, we accepted what they tried to make and soon disposed of it. I wanted…read morefestive, affordable decorations for my daughter's kiddush following her bat mitzvah service so reached out to them to see if they could do a balloon arch and balloon centerpieces. Lilia was super responsive and within a day even sent me perfect samples of what the centerpieces would look like. We decided we would add cards to each centerpiece with QR codes that described my daughter's mitzvah project so I dropped them off in their adorable store in Winnetka beforehand. The arch was set up on Friday so we were able to use it for our Friday night dinner and Sat festivities...and then she dropped off the centerpieces on Saturday. When I walked into the room it was super bright and festive, which was exactly what we were going for. I've learned thru my years of party planning there are many options when it comes to balloons, but Bashy Bash is fairly prices, reliable and does a great job. Plus it's nice that they have a storefront for those who want to go figure out their balloon options in person.

They had so many options it took us some time to browse through and not walk out with every single pastry. We ended up with an apple turnover, and a chocolate almond croissant both warmed up. They were delicious! Soft, flaky and they did not skimp on filling. The sizes were generous each item was bigger than the palm of my hand. I also got a mango smoothie because I had my caffeine already for the morning but my husband had coffee and said it was great. We loved watching so many folks try everything from sweets and savory while we waited for our items. We definitely have to come back soon!

I wonder how sweeter it gets with flavor added with whipping cream. Very local coffee shop with many other pastries and chocolate for sale. Good spot for coffee after a meal in the area!

Three years ago I would have been shocked if someone told shopaholic me that I'd enjoy shopping for my kids way more than myself, but it's true. I skipped the cute women's clothing and made my way towards the back of the store to check out the cute little onesies, tutus, etc for my little ones. I just so happened to be here during the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale so I got some fab deals on kicky pants PJs and other cute outfits for my son. I didn't have as much luck for my daughter, but next time we're in need for a tutu we'll be headed here. If you stop in on the 363 days the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale isn't happening it can be a bit pricey, but definitely worth checking out for the kids. And perhaps even yourself.
