Worker corrected me that they don't have 'ice cream' so I responded 'yogurt cone' and that's when the patron in front of me made suggestions. They have regulars and a definite following! My low fat dutch chocolate was pleasant enough; the fat free ghiradelli is supposedly also quite yummy I knew that I would have incredible bloating and discomfort the next day. On a Sunday late afternoon, my husband and I were in Plaza del Prado, Glenview, and I wanted to get an iced coffee from McDonald's in this strip mall. Then, we discovered that the McDonald's which had been on this location for decades had permanently closed!What did we do? We visited the Love's Yogurt right next to it instead. The yogurt store was empty at this off-peak time. My husband struck a conversation with Henry, who had been the owner of the store for 18 years. He was very friendly and said that Love's had opened at this location for 38 years! It was the first time that we ever visited! Why? Because when there was a McDonald's right next to a yogurt shop, we chose McDonald's, haha. I looked at their menu board and saw smoothies, and I thought they were $6.50 each. I ordered a Henry's Special Smoothie which included mango, pineapple, coconut with pineapple juice and Love's French Vanilla Yogurt. My husband ordered a small vanilla yogurt for $4.05. The receipt came up to $13.77, with no itemization, just one total amount. Then I politely asked Henry, and found out that Henry's Special was $8.50. Henry's Special did not have a price on the small smoothie menu, and it was not on the wall menu board.When I looked at the picture that I took of the menu board at home, I noticed that all the other smoothies seemed to be originally $6.50, but at some points in time the prices were manually changed with an 8 written over 6, and the one on the top line still looked like a 6 to me from a distance. Forgive my less than perfect vision. I found that kind of funny. Before Henry went inside to prepare my smoothie, he was brushing away some debris on the countertop with his bare hands. I did not see him wearing gloves the entire time. Well, like a Chinese saying, "if you don't see it, just consider it being clean", haha. The Henry's Special was pretty good. It's creamy, sweet but not too sweet, and every sip had coconut bits in it. I just wish that the mango flavor could be a little stronger. Husband said that his yogurt was standard. It was a surprise that they also sell other savory items such as soups, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. The shop was clean and rather nostalgic looking. Henry said that McDonald's next door closed because the landlord increased their rent 2 to 3 folds. He said that they still have 20 months left on their lease, and hope that the rent would not increase too much. Otherwise, he would have to retire too. I hope not. read more

A quiet, family friendly older place inside a pretty busy strip mall. It probably could use an update - but on the same note, it's actually pretty nice to have the quant fifties vibe! It was pretty empty when we went in, but it was mid-afternoon. We ordered a couple of milkshakes and a frozen yogurt. The price for a basic small frozen yogurt is under $4 (a good size for just the small). There carry a lot of the basic options, including some fat free and low carb yogurts which is nice. The milkshakes got a thumbs up from the kids. It's all served in really basic styrofoam cups, so hopefully eventually they can become more eco-friendly. The store offers a 10% discount for local high school area students so that is definitely nice that they are open to serving young people in the community. read more

After this disgusting and disgraceful experience, I knew I had to warn others. I placed a $40 pickup order: salads, sandwiches, and yogurt--only to be discriminated against. I arrived about ten minutes after the pickup time. Instead of simply handing me my order, the owner/manager, Henry, decided to serve the customer behind me first. He was all smiles and overly friendly with this customer, even asking if he wanted a free sample before throwing in a huge, free pumpkin yogurt for Halloween. When my turn finally came, he handed me my order without offering me the pumpkin yogurt sample. So I asked, "Don't I get to try the pumpkin yogurt?" He had the nerve to lie; ridiculously claiming the other customer bought it. I called him out, stating he'd just given it away for free. Then, in a snide tone, he asked, "Do you want to try it?" I said, "Yes." What did he do? He gave me a pathetic, mouthwash-sized cup with a tiny drop of yogurt. Absolutely insulting. So, I flat-out rejected it, said "forget it," and walked out. Rest assured, Henry, your cheapness just cost you a lot more than you think: a loyal customer who will never spend another cent at Love's in Glenview. The real damage, though, is to your business--online reviews and word of mouth will expose your terrible practices to everyone. What a stupid, shortsighted "businessman" you are! read more

On a whim for something semi-sweet so we checked out loves yogurt. I thought I was okay. It's not self serve after-all. The service was good they have a sweet grandma there helping out which reminds me of my friends grandma. It's next to McDonald's. The seasonal flavor is currently peanut butter and the basic vanilla and chocolate. I didn't notice either flavors tasting like yogurt or creamy. But the pb was way better than the vanilla. If you're looking for mediocre frozen yogurt paired with an equally disappointing experience, this is your place. The yogurt was watery, lacked flavor, and melted faster than it took to pay. Speaking of payment, the prices are absurd for what you're getting--tiny portions with nothing remotely fresh about the toppings. The owner is  uninterested and rude. After a long day at the Kohl Children's Museum, my daughter wanted some ice cream. So I made a quick google search for ice cream shops in the area and Love's came up and sounded like a great fro-yo place. It was not what I expected. I expected a self-serve fro-yo shop where you pay by weight. It was a diner with a ton of those coin toy and candy machines and stuff my kids harass me about constantly to the point I avoid places like this like the plague. I was about to walk out when this old man came right to the counter asking what he could get for me. I still wanted to leave but my 5yo was running up asking for ice cream. He told her he has chocolate, vanilla, and swirl. He offered a wide variety of other food as well like sandwiches and stuff. It had an eggy smell in there too. It seemed clean though. I don't expect that I'll be returning based on all the coin machines and the lack of self-serve fro-yo. read more

I took the kids for frozen yogurt based on Yelp reviews. The entire restaurant has a particularly foul odor due to a sandwich/salad area immediately behind the counter and grilled or fried foods being prepared in the kitchen. I'm afraid that the stench has probably been present for so long that it's permanent. The frozen yogurt, six flavors from which to choose, is nothing special. The cones and toppings are limited in selection. Service was excellent and prices are competitive with Yogen-Fruz and other local purveyors but no bargain. If it weren't for the nasty smell in the place I might consider coming back again just to support the "Mom and Pop" owners. read more

This is a great frozen yogurt place! It's been around forever. I would always go here with my friends in high school and when frozen yogurt became a huge trend and shops were popping up everywhere, I almost always preferred Love's to the new ones. It's creamier than most frozen yogurt so it tastes more like ice cream, which I love. I would always get the cake batter or vanilla with mini m&ms. As far as most frozen yogurt places go, it doesn't have that many yogurt flavor options or toppings compared to other stores. But, if you just like the classic flavors and toppings then I wouldn't be concerned. Additionally, this isn't a free-for-all, do-it-yourself yogurt shop. The store owner always dispenses the frozen yogurt and adds the toppings for you so if you like to be in control and do that yourself, you might be disappointed. Although, the portions are perfectly fair for a small, medium, large system. The decor inside the shop is pretty bare bones as far as typical frozen yogurt shops go, but the yogurt speaks for itself. The shop has been around for awhile because it tastes so good that they don't need to bother making it look like an "Instagram-able" spot. The parking is a little trickier at busy times just because that plaza is always packed, however I've always been able to get a spot. Just watch out for the constant movement of people and cars. read more

By far my favorite frozen yogurt place! They have the BEST! You cannot go wrong with any flavor. My personal favorite is the peanut butter. On to the tuna....aside from a place in Florida I have never had tuna so good!! I don't know what they put in it but I cannot leave without taking some home. I can also highly recommend any pie! Great little neighborhood place. Although the decor may be a little lacklustre, the service is great and they have a surprising amount of options. I have had their salads and nearly any possible combination is available. Being on a low carb diet could be problem for most ice cream joints but they have fat free, sugar free options that are tasty. The chocolate covered banana tasted great!. My daughter's lactose intolerance keeps her from eating ice cream on a regular basis but this place stocks up on airy free deserts as well...so we frequently find ourselves their for choices that can satisfy all our family members. read more

Loves has been a landmark of the North shore for years. If you must have yogurt LOVES is the way to go. I've tried all these new fancy places opening up around me and still i cant have enough of loves. Their yogurt just makes me feel at home and on top of that is family owned with great service. I went here based on yelp reviews which were great. But, I went for a sandwich and I'm guessing the high stars must have been due to the yogurt, not the food. The man behind the counter was great, helpful and polite. I ordered their "rare" roast beef sandwich. It isn't that it was bad, but it felt like I was eating my packed lunch from home, except I spent $8 on it and it was just a sandwich and chips. The sandwich was nothing special. Minimal meat, lettuce, white bread from the loaf bag, and mayo. There weren't any other toppings offered, aside from tomato and cheese which I passed on. The roast beef was definitely not what I'd call rare which was a bummer. The man offered me cucumbers or carrots which was nice, but he didn't have any pickles so I think that was just a replacement for the advertised pickles. I wanted to like it probably in part because the man at the counter was nice. But overall, a let down and as I try to budget, I won't likely use my out to lunch money for lunch from there again. read more
