Oyster Mushrooms were absolutely the best thing, so thank goodness I got their last order of the day. Spicy Edamame was very spicy and good. Sunomono Salad was just okay. We got 3 ramen bowls and a poke bowl. All was fresh, but all were just okay. Not great broth, and we weren't extremely impressed with their bulgogi. Straight awesome!! There was NOTHING about our experience that wasn't great. The atmosphere of this place is really fun. Loved the decanter lights. Our server was so friendly and helpful. They have a kids menu that is dialed down that wasn't listed online. Server was checking on us the whole time. Then we got our food... and WOW just wow. I've tried this place several times over several years, each time hoping for a better experience and getting let down. Specify asked for no tomatoes and add an egg. Received tons of tomatoes in my ramen and no egg. Lucky the tomato request was not an allergy... The "sumo" bowl does not appear to have any more toppings or noodles than the "small". This is the fourth time I've been here but first time writing a review. I always make a plan to come here when visiting Missoula, and I have to say, it's never disappointed. I ordered their Kotteri ramen which comes with an assortment of vegetables (my favorite being the mushrooms) and a very savory broth. I'd say for a strictly vegan meal, it's amazing. Our waiter, Tiger, was happy to be there and accommodated us well. My girlfriend ordered their poke bowl and the ahi tuna was delicious. I was also happy because we go to sit in the booth near the window that looked out onto the lot and plaza we were at earlier in the day. I live in Seattle so I've had plenty of ramen and I'm kind of fussy.We stopped in here for late lunch and had shio and bulgogi ramen. We got off to a slightly rocky start with our server. She was a little too busy because most of the evening staff hadn't come on yet. But she ended up being very friendly and attentive. The ramens were both really good. I was in town for the marathon and I was looking for a good lunch restaurant. This Ramen spot immediately caught my attention and it was walking distance from where i was. I love the downstairs asthetics! The bar and the restaurant layout was pretty welcoming. I was sat down immediately and my server took my order right after. I went with the edemame and the tonkatsu Ramen. So good! I ordered the regular bowl. Between the edmmame and the Ramen I left pretty full! Service was great, she checked on me often and got my the check when I asked. Great experience here with amazing food! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area. read more

Who does not love a good ramen when the weather turns crisp and cold? Well you would love it more if the broth was nice and hot. Love the ambiance, cute decor over the bar. They used old decanters as light covers. The food was good. The apps came out fast. The short rib meatballs were a little over cooked and you could taste the char on them. The sweet and spicy edamame was the best thing that came out. I could have just filled up on them. My broth was Luke warm and so was my co workers. The flavors were great just the temp was off. We told our waitress and they made us a new bowl of broth each. It was over load. We just wanted ours warmed up. One co worker got a rice bowl and said that her food was good but her poached egg was cold. They might be better with temps once they start up and running for the night. We did get there around 3:30pm for dinner. A bit early for a young crowd. read more

My wife and I went for dinner on a cold night. We had cocktails (whiskey sour and up in smoke (smoked old fashion). Both we're very good. The spicy edamame was spot on and nicely spicy and could not stop eating it. My wife had the yellow curry ramen. It was perfectly spiced and warmed her up. I had the Miso pork ramen. The pork was really nicely grilled and had a great flavor. The salted egg was a perfect highlight. Tiger our server was extremely friendly and checked on us often. I recently went to Michi ramen for my birthday, our food was incredible and the drinks were wonderful. Most importantly, the service was superb! Our servers name was Maddi and I believe she deserves a raise for how welcoming, friendly and hard working she is! Been here a few times, good ramen, wish they had more spicy options. The kids ramen was disappointing and bland which would be fine for normal kids but my girl LOVES ramen and was disappointed. The rice bowls could use more of the meat and other things and less rice but other than that it was great. Firstly, service came with Pleasant smile from everyone we interacted with representing the restaurant. Expediency and accuracy were employed. Secondly, the ambience was on point. The walls give a subterranean European feel. The well appointed decor feel modern without being cold. The volume of the full restaurant was inviting rather than too loud and annoying or overwhelming. Finally, the food was full flavored and enjoyable. Though, not as hot as I had hoped or expected. A downfall of high attendance? Maybe? Or a kitchen's choice? We do not get to Missoula very often. Our trips usually involve and airport "run" or a medical appointment BUT when we do make the drive up the Bitterroot the journey just about always includes a visit to the Michi Ramen Bar. The word "Michi" means "the path of expression' and the chefs at Michi take their food pallets and cookery very seriously but with a hint of playfulness! Ever since some friends of our turned us on to the ramen-ya last year, Michi Ramen Bar has been the go-to place for lunch or an early dinner before or after our raison d'être for visiting Zootown. Our last visit we both enjoyed the perfectly seasoned Sweet & Spicy Edamame appetizer. And, on this trip I dined on the Hokkaido Miso Ramen and my wife enjoyed the Bulgogi Ramen. Both came with Michi's incredible eggs, mine the marinated egg and hers the 66 Degree Egg. So very unique and tasty. The broth and ramen are DEFINITELY top shelf! Located just steps from the Caras Park Carousel, parking is plentiful and easy to get to. I highly recommend the Michi Ramen Bar. read more

Food was great! Awesome service. Hours are 11-11, but I walked past this gem a number of times not realizing they were open. Michi Raman and Sakatome sushi are in the same building. Michi is on lower level, and sakatome sushi restaurant is street level and opens at 5...so don't be fooled...Michi is open for lunch, dinner and beyond. Prices are good and worth the value. Skip this place. If you're looking for a tasty hot noodle type soup you're better off frequenting one of the Vietnamese places in town for some Pho. There are just so many things wrong with the ramen here where does one begin? The broth. Much of a tasty bowl of ramen depends on the broth. This, by definition on the menu has to use some "ramen flavoring" apparently. The broth is murky, warm-hot, and really just tastes bad. They tout a pork chicken blend. Ick. Traditional ramen houses make their stock on premise, fresh. If this place is from scratch, they need to change their recipe. Noodles: they are so hard to describe...slimy? Gummy? Bland? Are all adjectives that come to mind. Again, traditional ramen houses make their own and they're delicious. Meat: I got the Hokkaido ramen which is supposed to have "charsiu" in it-also known as "Barb-b-que pork" in Chinese. If you've seen it or had it, you know that it is characteristically red and a bit sweet. It can hang from a window it is so lean. This was not what was in my ramen. In my ramen was a very poor attempt at Chinese roasted pork, completely different flavor, texture, fatty etc--almost like a deep fried product purchased from big restaurant supply food provider already frozen. Perhaps that explained the oil slick on my bowl. But the cherry on top was the horrific egg. I usually like egg. Imagine this, an egg only boiled a few minutes so it's yolk is still runny. Then, they throw it in the freezer overnight. The next day, month or year, they cut it in half and drop it into your once hot soup...just so it can thaw out in your bowl. Most tasteless disgusting egg. It was ice cold in the middle! Eat it with your chop sticks. But don't dare put your chopsticks down --because there are no holders. So, you must put your chopsticks on your bowl or onto a table top covered in who knows what. And should you drop your chopstick while sitting at the bar...don't bother picking it up because their seats are the most impossible to get in and out of and incredibly UNcomfortable. All this for $27 tab at the end because I got some lukewarm tea with it, but we won't mention that. Service was lukewarm too. Worst dining experience I've had in Missoula --and I eat out a couple times per week. I would have given it a one star if it weren't for their attempt at a trendy underground rock decor that really lends itself better to a late night bar. read more
