A celiac heaven worth the long-ish detour off the highway on our road trip. I haven't had fried mushrooms in years! Also, the fries were perfectly crispy. What is it about all these other restaurants and their sloppy "hand cut" flimsy fries? Ours stayed crispy until the end of the meal. Food was piping hot and folks were extremely kind and polite. This is a Montana-American grub fest restaurant. Yes, they have a few video gambling machines, like every other establishment in the state, but it's all about the food here. Leave your kale and poke wet dreams at home for this joint. They feedbag you, but it ain't great for ya, haha. I used to love coming here. Had a 4 star before. Today we had a waitress that actually took my food, because I had the other tables food, after I had eaten and touched most of the things on my plate. I hadn't eaten my sandwich but holy crap spackle!, it's covid time, traded food out anyway. The waitress had her mask mostly around her chin and the cook wasn't wearing one, at his neck the whole time. As a celiac from the Flathead Valley who is used to having no options when eating out, Montana Jacks was a breath of fresh air. Hearing the waiter say everything could be made gluten free just about sent me through the roof. The food was wonderful and the fish for the fish and chips was very fresh and high quality. I've ate here only once. I ordered chicken strips, fries and cheese curds. I noticed they forgot the cheese curds. I had to drive back to get them. I didn't like the fries, I felt they were soggy and they weren't like the ones pictured in other reviews. The chicken strips were decent, but fact they forgot part of my order (and it was not a large order) and it being my first experience...not impressed. This used to be one of my favorite places to go for food. Home made sauces and dressings that were out of this world, quaint atmosphere, and a good selection of beer. They still have all of that, but they no longer offer my favorite dish, the BBQ Chicken Wrap. Sometimes I can talk the wait staff into getting it for me, but since I no longer live in Missoula and frequent the place, the turn around in staff has assured they no longer know what I'm talking about, though I have been told that they have it as a special once in a while. The home made BBQ sauce is still out of this world as is the Bleu Cheese dressing. read more

Great service, simple & tasty food; always a good pick. Their chicken & fish are hand battered, the pork chop is cut & pounded out in house & the salad dressing are well made. Their clam chowder is full of clams and so good. I've never been there for breakfast, but I've never had anything off their lunch menu I didn't enjoy. Just moved to Montana and a friend took me to Montana Jacks. The look of the place was kind of bland and boring, but the food was a pleasant surprise! I got the fish and chips and it was yummy. But the best part was the starter that we split. I don't remember what they're called, but they're like a crab /shrimp Rangoon in a wonton roll. SOOO good! I noticed that a review talked about homemade sauces. If you like just ad water gravies, BBQ sauce out of a gallon container. The owner Bob Moron likes to drop food on the floor and then drop in the fryer to sanitize. The kitchen and dining room are a mess. Over spray of paint loos like a non maintained facility. The burgers, supanosed to be great are skeletal muscle held together by collagen very similar to Mc Donalds meat. The floors are cracked and grout is black from not cleaning properly. The kitchen is crazy dirty. The restroom smelled like urine the last time (forever) that I will go there. The signs outside are shoddy, looks like they have been up for 40 years without maintance. I would tell everyone to stay away unless you like marginal food, dirty store, and I would state may be a health hazard to anyone who eats there. read more

This was EXCELLENT. Our family had the steak which was very tender and NOT gristley; the BBQ ribs which fell off the bone; and the chicken fried steak cooked to perfection. The salads and soup were delicious. The service was prompt and very friendly. When they brought the food out, we were thinking "is this all you get for the money?" But to our surprise, we couldn't eat it all! The best part was not only did we get a great meal, but we got it for a great price -- much cheaper than the Montana Club.
