From day one I knew I liked Liz. The mixture of passion and devotion she has for her clients and work is inspiring- she truly wants everyone to succeed. While the beginning of training with Liz was difficult for me, she was always there, growing my confidence with love that her heart naturally radiates. Recovering from an eating disorder put me at a disadvantage with everything, or at least that's what it felt like. However, Liz guided me through my flaws every step of the way and it became a continuous pattern-- when I fell, she would pick me up. It didn't take long for us to show each other our real selves. I visited MECA at the recommendation of a friend because I was tired of the nagging pains caused by sitting behind a desk all day and not having a regular workout routine. I also wanted to lose weight, improve joint mobility (particularly through the hips and lower back) and build and maintain strength. I've been working out at MECA for 18 months, exclusively with John for the past 8 months. John knows how to get you to focus on the specific muscle group that each lift is meant to target so that you can get the maximum benefit. He designs my workout plan for me so all I have to do is show up, work hard and not spend time trying to figure it out on my own. The outcome is that I feel a lot better. Their one-on-one approach, with variable circuit training programs tailored specifically to your goals, is the most effective way to get in shape, and stay in shape that I've ever experienced. My trainer is John Wallace, and he really knows his stuff...! He is always making sure every rep is done with the proper form, safely, to maximize the benefit of the exercise. In my first eight months here I've shed 57 lbs of unwanted fat, and gained an incredible amount of muscle, strength, stamina, and overall physical fitness. Time and health are our most valuable assets. You can't make more time, but you can potentially extend your life by getting, and staying fit. This is the best investment I've ever made in myself. As a 55-year-old dad with an active family who enjoys all of Michigan's outdoors activities, I was not interested in slowing down. However, my body was feeling the effects of working a desk job for the last 33 years so it was time to take charge of my physical health. In January 2020 I began training with coach Liz at MECA and the results have been life changing. Everyday activities that were becoming difficult are now easy with the increased core strength and improved balance that I have gained. Mecastrong has changed my life. In less than 90 days they have unscrewed 30 years of inactivity and I cannot believe how good I feel and how I want to continue to improve. I trained at MECA for over 4 years before taking time off for almost a year. I made a life choice to become a firefighter and after completing an in station CPAT test I knew I needed help to get in shape and be able to have the strength to pass it. I started working out with JOHN and he pushes me beyond what I thought I can do. His attention to detail on every rep and every set is second to none. I am a high school soccer player and I work out with John. I've been working out with him since August. Early in my high school season, I had a small tear in my MCL and John was able to really help me with rehab for my knee.
