Traumatizing to say the least! Took our 3 year old for her first swimming class and we were so excited. First thing they did was dunk her all the way in the water and she, of course, swallowed a lot of water and cried so hard. It took a while for another adult to come and "comfort her" which they really didn't offer true comfort. She was still crying and within the next two minutes it was her turn again and she screamed "nooo" and was kicking and screaming and the instructor dunked her all the way into the water AGAIN with her mouth wide open. Nothing short of torture! I quickly got up to take her out of the class. As a trauma informed practitioner, I know the importance of respecting people's "no's" and going at the pace of the child's body. My daughter was not ready to do that again and I was told over the phone that if she wasn't ready, they would practice only getting her chin in the water, and then the next round her nose and then her eyes, etc. that was not the case at all. When I took her out, one of the instructors said "she was doing great". I don't know in what world a terrified toddler whose agency just got taken away is considered doing "great" but I have never seen my daughter in more distress in my life. I am so glad I was brave enough to listen to my mom instinct and take her out of the class. I learned how to swim without the torture of drowning. This was not ok. I feel terrible about ever bringing my daughter to experience this. Absolutely terrible. I couldn't sleep last night and every time I replay it in my head, my heart hurts. What I would recommend doing instead is actually building a relationship of trust and respect with each child and going at their pace. I understand it's a short amount of time but the "cry it out" type of system in place is embarrassingly outdated and harmful. read more

I was taking my daughter to this location over the summer and into the beginning of the school year. During this time, she had multiple instructors with whom she adjusted to each time. I initially came here because I won a 3 month pass/membership in an auction at her school. This auction winning would entitle her to receive lessons for 3 months (I was also required to pay a sign-up fee aside from the pass I paid for in the auction). When I started scheduling my daughter with the 3 month pass, there were numerous issues with front-desk staff. I was given a plethora of inaccurate information from various staff members on how the 3 month pass/membership would work. Aside from these miscommunications, my daughter recently had an upper respiratory infection (which is highly contagious) and because of this, I canceled her last swim lesson for 08/28/2019 with the intent to reschedule once she was in better health. I was told at that time when I phoned to cancel said lesson by the employee who answered the phone that my daughter would be allowed to make-up the last class on the 3 month membership as it was not a 'no show' lesson. *Most folks know that an upper respiratory infection (especially in young children) can last for weeks and swimming, dental work etc. should be avoided until the infection subsides. Approximately three weeks later (which is almost standard recoup time for an infection such as the one she had), on 09/18/2019, I called and left a voice message to advise that my daughter is now able to swim as she is free from aliments --- in an attempt to schedule her last lesson of the 3 months I paid for. I did not get a call back, accordingly I called back today, 09/19/2019 to schedule her swim lesson and I was advised that because my daughter "is not on active plan", I would have to sign her up again and pay the sign-up fees I initially paid etc. and she would not be permitted to have her last lesson as it was too long ago from her last session. As a consumer, it is my stance that if someone pays for a service they are entitled to it. In this case, I paid for the lessons my daughter was to have but am being denied what I paid for because of an ailment. In addition, to pay a fee I already paid (the sign-up fee), which is to be good for one year again is preposterous. While I had every intent to sign my daughter up for regular lessons at the conclusion of the 3 month sessions, unfortunately I will have to take my business elsewhere. Buyer beware! read more

Not a good place if you have special needs children. After joining, I inquired about the SNAP program since after the first session, my daughter had a hard time adjusting to having to wait after 3 other kiddos and just having to have the patience to sit and wait. I was told she needed a diagnosis or paperwork filled out, which she's diagnosed so no worries there, filled it out and they were only able to put her in the SNAP program once a week, which was fine, although the other days were very trying to say the least. I even offered to pay more to get her in the program she needed and they said it wasn't necessary. Fast forward, after 2 months, the start of the 3rd month, she was no longer on the schedule for SNAP and no one emailed or called me about it, after several attempts to get info. While there for her other class, they paired her with someone whom she had never been with, and on top of that, the 2 children in her class were new and didn't know much, so my child had to be extra patient, which was hard for her to do anyways. The instructor skipped her several times because she couldn't sit quietly and then also made her sit out and then class ended. She literally spent maybe 5 mins in that class in the water. My daughter had a huge fallout and I don't blame her, she came to swim and learn skills and she got on to and had to sit out. Upon leaving, I told them she couldn't be paired with that instructor, and the person, whom I have been talking about getting back on the schedule for her other SNAP day, informed me that they could not put her in SNAP anymore and that she has to go to regular classes both days a week. This was after witnessing her fall out after being denied getting in the pool and doing her class. It was a bad encounter, it took me probably 20 mins or so to console my daughter because she was so upset. I told them that was not going to work, I wouldn't be able to continue the classes then. They said yep and then refunded me and that was that. No, trying to work with me, nothing. It was a slap in the face really, like my child was not welcome there. You see parents who act like that with kiddos with disabilities, but to see a business react that way with no heart, and no care in the world, I immediately felt for my child. If I could give 0 stars I would. I know that the summer is ending and that a lot of kids working there for the summer have left and so maybe they weren't able to accommodate us, that would have been understandable, but that wasn't the case, it was very cold-hearted. The 2 instructors that were with her on her SNAP days were amazing. Also, the instructor that they paired her with most days on the other day was also amazing. Izzy, Jesenya and I forgot the other ladies name. For those with kiddos with no disabilities, seems okay, the fact you have an instructor working with your child and 3 other kids, your child only gets maybe 10 mins of instructor time, and that's a big maybe. It's def not worth it. Fast track or another place that has less kiddos to instructors would be better. read more

I suppose I should have checked the reviews before calling. I can only speak for their customer service and pricing. I sent an inquiring e-mail and received a phone call just now. So 1, their private lessons pricing is more expensive than anywhere else I've spoken to in the area. 2, the woman on the phone went on and on about how a three year old needs to be in a group lesson because they lose their focus after 12 minutes... my son has been in private lessons since he was 1? It's all about how you work with children that captivates their attention. She then recommended level 3. Level 3 is basically beginner swim with the parent out of the pool. What an epic waste of time and money for someone who's been doing this for 2 years? No wonder you can't keep a child's attention. She tried to regain control of the conversation by suggesting a diagnostic but she'd already lost my vote. Glad we dodged that money pit! read more

I signed up for an evaluation for my 3 year old twins. We drove 45 minutes and got there early for the class. We checked in and got a card with the name of the instructor and the time we signed up for. When it was time their names were called and we went to the instructor we were told to go to. That instructor said that class was a parent-tot class and sent us to another instructor, the other instructor said that her class was a level 4 class. I believe we were signed up for a level 3 class. I went back to the desk and was told all classes were pushed back 30 minutes. I didn't get a call and they also didn't tell us that when we got there so we waited 20 minutes and had our name called to tell us we would have to wait another 30 minutes. I couldn't do that time so I had to take my toddlers home while they cried that they didn't get to go swimming. I'm extremely disappointed and upset. It looks like I did get an email about the time change 30 minutes before their class was supposed to start, but I was already driving and on my way. read more

Aqua Tots has been awesome for my 4 year old and 2 year old! They are so patient with the kids, but at the same time teach them well. It's a great environment for the parents because you can observe everything that is going on, and kiddos can wave at you through the glass. There's also plenty of toys and movies to keep other kids entertained if you have different class times for different kids. Regarding the critiques below, the instructors have always talked me through each lesson and what they were trying to accomplish, and encouraging where the child can grow. I can only speak to the level two toddler class and the two classes we have attended so far but we are really enjoying everything so far. Sarah and Ian have been our instructors and both have been attentive and helpful. The emphasis has been on safety and helping teach the kids how to be safe in the pool and how to get out if they fall in. I particularly like that the toddler classes are so small. Five kids max but there haven't been more than two in my class so far. I like that the instructors are hands on but also encourage me to give each exercise a try. At the end of the lesson, I know exactly what to work on with my little guy to help him become a swimmer. The owners are especially enthusiastic and encouraging. You can tell they love the mission of their school and are striving for excellence. read more

No. No, no no. I've taught swim lessons before and this is not how you do it. The teachers are nice, but their "curriculum" is limited and flat out silly. Another Yelper mentioned, "there was no INSTRUCTION, just a laundry list of swimming tasks" and I wholeheartedly agree. Besides that, my son has a make up class and I can't schedule it more than a week ahead? What kind of crazy policy is that?! Totally confusing business practices, and no lessons. I've been taking the kids here since September 2016 and I've been very happy with it so far. My kids always looking forward to their lesson and they've been making a wonderful progress and we plan to continue. Their coach, Ms.Campbell has been very friendly and knowledgeable. My kids were afraid of going inside the pool and used to hold on to her with dear life now they happily jump to the water, float and even dive-in. The front desk staff is very nice also! I can easily book make up lessons and they called my kids by their names as soon as they come in. The facility is great. Once in a while I found the bathroom is a little dirty but it could be from the previous classes. They just recently updated their rinse area and put some lights under the water and that was nice. I was very skeptical about having a slow progress, apparently pretty common in swimming school, however I don't feel that way. I feel like my kids taking their time learning how to use the right technique rather than just float away. read more

Aqua Tots exceeded every expectation I had of a swim school! On our first visit, the front desk staff was clearly awaiting our arrival. My daughter and I were both warmly greeted by name and they had all of our papers ready for us to review and sign. They took time to give us thorough instructions about the class and facility. All of the swim instructors we have encountered have been professional and made swimming an enjoyable experience. Just after 3 classes, my two-year old daughter is very comfortable going under water and trying to swim on her own! She says, "I do it, mommy!" The facility is CLEAN and the small scale of the pool, restrooms and lounge creates an environment that is not overwhelming to children. Not only have we enjoyed getting to know the Aqua Tots staff but the entire Aqua Tots family (staff AND patrons) is enjoyable. I love sitting in the lounge and laughing with other parents/caretakers! during one of our first lessons, a torrential downpour was happening outside and right in the middle of our class the power went completely out, I have never felt more secure about my kid being in the water (in the complete dark) than I did with his aqua tot instructors. It was a very scary few seconds but the coaches and staff were in top form and made sure that all the kids were safe. My son has been working with Coach Dave for about 3 months now and I am in awe of the work they have been doing! My son is excited to get ready and go to swim class and even more so to go swimming with me and show off his mad skills! Dave has such a heart for working with the kids and keeping them focused while teaching and instilling such a necessary lifelong skill. Was not a fan of this place at all...we were new to place and greeted at desk by this guy who tells us the girl beside him would be my daughters instructor...you would think a simple oh hello anything to help warm up my 5 yr old...nope zip nada...then my daughter cried...they wouldn't let me console her and talk her into it they made me go where she couldn't see me which only terrified her more!!! The good....Pool is indoors and class hours are convenient. Swim instructor was a sweetheart and great with both of our kids. They have a steady rotation of people adding and dropping class so it's pretty easy to sign up. The bad....The facility is very small and it gets hot and muggy inside. There are 2 small pools that are separated by a glass wall. On the other side of the wall is the waiting area. It too is small and people are constantly having to stand. There is also a lack of changing rooms so people are forced to either wait or in some cases, change their child in the open. We've been going to Saturday classes for about 2 months and there have been 3 cancelations due to a child having an accident in the pool. The pool is shut down while its disinfected which basically cancels classes for the rest of the day. This is understandable but it's up to you to schedule a make up. It's a little frustrating. If you're constantly on a tight schedule (like we are), there's just not enough time on a weeknight to schedule a make up so that's money down the drain. If you want to give your kids a swimming crash course, this place is perfect. If you're looking for a more organized class setting that goes more than 30 minutes, you might want to keep looking. read more

It was time our 3 year old took swimming lessons given we were planning on spending some time at the water park this summer. He was pretty terrified during the first lesson; it was likely more separation anxiety than the water. Since the first lesson he has enjoyed the water (and, lessons). We've recently switched to one teacher vs spreading his lessons across two teachers. We found building a relationship with one would be best to learn water safety. Great experience thus far. You know thought this was a great looking place! Until I went in and had discovered that they would not give me the information of my daughters swim class or any information about her at all. Despite me having a court order saying I'm entitled to it as a joint custodian. Gota love it when people play into the game of keeping children away from their parents. Apparently a family atmosphere isn't something that is high on their priority list. My children and I were really excited about swim lessons through Aqua-Tots in Round Rock. Sadly due to uneducated new staff we will be parting ways only after two weeks. It breaks my heart because my boys love swimming and I want them to learn the correct way. Aqua-Tots was really quick to get the boys in for their evaluation. I wanted the boys to go twice a week. They charge your card before scheduling. Well after being over charged then still paying almost $200 for just two weeks worth of classes. I try to schedule my boys. When a mom tells you she can't do anything before 6 PM why offer them 4 and 5 PM appointments. I'm a working mom. The scheduling was a nightmare! After trying to schedule with this new employee I simply had enough and said I would call tomorrow to arrange something. While at work the next day I call and schedule my boys to get lessons and the lady makes it for 6:30 both days. I show up the next week and what do you know. My oldest sons was at 5:30 and my youngest was at 6PM. Luckily we were able to get him in since we showed up early. I spent the entire 30 minutes trying to reschedule my boys and figure out a cost and schedule for the month of July! Which is over a month away. What do you know still couldn't schedule. When I called to cancel they didn't really seem to care about my frustrations. They were just like okay. They couldn't care less that I asked for them to cancel our membership. read more

My two kids have been coming here for close to a year now and they have done exceedingly well! I'm a lot more comfortable hanging near water now that my kids know more than the basics of not only keeping their heads above water, but swimming, back swimming, holding their breath, diving to the bottom, swimming from wall to wall, jumping in, etc! Our mom's group went to Aqua-Tots for a trial swim lesson and it seemed that everyone really enjoyed it. Especially the kids! The teachers were very patient and fun with the kids and the parents were nearby for the older kids (outside the plate glass windows), but were not a distraction. Since we dont have any expectations out of the our kiddos level, we cannot really comment on how this school prepares a child for advanced swimming skills. The office staff is courteous and friendly. Okay if you would've asked me 2 months ago I probably would've given a 5 star review I'm almost to my last straw. There is always something with this place. someone lost my sons card so all his progress that was checked off was basically erased and he had to start all over which is disappointing. Lack of communication while I understand instructors are starting school and the classes are ending due to the busy season being over dont tell me the week before then we come in on his new day to find out they didnt actually change the class after all... Scheduling make ups is ridiculous I call minimum a week in advance but show up and they have no idea what I'm talking about or why I'm there. My son has been swimming for 4-5 months maybe even longer he graduated from a level 1 and into a level 2 ONLY class because he is extremely laid back and quiet his instructors felt it was time swim experience wise to move to level 3 but his age beinf only 18 months is not ready maturity wise so a strictly level 2 class keeps the younger babies who are still scared and tend to cry the entire lesson which frightens my son who is sensitive and off put by it. When his last class and a very young baby in it AGAIN I made sure to recheck with the front to make sure it was a level 2 only class and they didn't allow level ones in it which obviously was a blatant lie or yet another front desk employee who has no idea what is going on I would rather pay 3 times more for a swim center that could actually figure out how to run things from an administration stand point. Which is sad that I'm currently looking for a new location for my son because he really enjoys the instructors. read more

My daughter has taken swim lessons here for almost a year. The place is clean and well run. Her instructor, Marisa, is very good with the kids. If you miss a class they usually let you make it up at no additional charge. I recommend taking classes here in the winter, it is less crowded. They have free wifi for the parents to enjoy while the kids swim. read more

My four year old twin girls have been taking swim lessons here for about 8 months or so. Thier water skills and level of comfort in the water keep getting better and better! We have had several of the instructors and most of them are just wonderful. We go on Saturday mornings and unless the instructor is out that day, have the same instructor each time. My girls listen and follow directions quite well from thier instructors. That tells me they trust and have respect for thier instructors. A bit on the expensive side, escpecially with two, but worth every penny to know my girls are learning life long skills! read more

I've been taking my kids to this location of Aqua-Tots for 3+ years. I am very disappointed about the decisions the new manager Quinn is making. We are customers that come back religiously every summer. The first problem is that I pre-paid for some parent night out events, and had paid in advance about $200, $100 each for my 2 kids. But then this location discontinued the program of offering parents night out. So the new manager Quinn, said he would give us a month of swimming, which is comparable, not my full value but comparable. Many other swim programs are about $50 per month, this one is between $80-$90. So while agreeing to a lose, I accepted it and expected a full month of swimming per our agreement. And my kids returned for this summer again. Turns out that Quinn actually did not fulfill that promise. I found out when I canceled about a month ago, that it wasn't actually a full month, that he gave me the "amount of classes for the value" he showed on my account. Which was not his agreement. I received only 2-3 weeks of swimming in exchange for the prepaid parent night outs, not the month that was promised and expected. So that was disappointing. The biggest disappointment was that when my daughter returned this summer, after having swam by her self and fully independently all summer last summer, she started at a level 4. That was in May. It is now September, 5 months later. She is a level 5 where she was the entire summer last summer, and this summer. So she spent five months, getting back to where she ended the summer last year. Very disappointing. She's literally six years old in class with three and four-year-olds. I'm not sure what she needs to do to advance. But that seems to be a real issue at this location. They also just brought on a new manager named Amy, who had worked with at another locations in the past, she is awful. From the moment I saw her face, I was thinking about how I could get away from this location. So basically what I'm saying is the management there is a problem. Today was the last straw. We were planning to take a pause for a couple of months as we always do, with every intention of returning next summer, but when I called today at 10:30 to cancel my swim lesson at 11, it was too late at that point to get a make up session for another day. Really? I reminded Quinn the manager that the reason why they were scheduled for make up today, was because he actually, in fact, canceled on us two Fridays ago. And since I was out of town last Friday, we had to move it 2 more weeks to accommodate his canceling class on my children. But today when I tried to cancel, that was not going to be OK. So I should be fine with them canceling class on me, but don't call them 30 minutes in advance and try to cancel class on them. That really seems unfair considering the circumstances. So we've been going to this location for 3+ years, have recommended and referred countless times, know for a fact we've brought no less five additional people who swam there at their location, but yet we will not be returning. I think I have paid for one more class each for my kids, we might not even go to that. I'm very disappointed in how this all turned out. My kids had a lot of fun at this location but I can no longer deal with the management. read more

I always tell everybody that our daughter is going to swimming classes. I was thinking I am just inpatient parent with my daughter and I am taking her to swimming classes way too early. Yes I took her to swimming classes when she was only 7 months old. Since she is my first and only, right Now she is 11 months old. And NOW! She is very comfortable in the water. She can do monkey walks, she can blow bubbles, she is very relax when she back floats, she is not fan of being dipped in water but not complaining either. These things take time for an infant to be comfortable. She is already level 2! She was supposed to be level 2 around 18 months but her instructor thinks she probably will make level 3 which is alone with instructor before she is 2 years old! I think I made a great decision on taking her swimming classes and I think Aqua tots is a great place to take kids. They are very friendly. They are super nice about setting make up classes. Instructors do love their job obviously. They are so kind and loving to children. My daughter enjoys with water and she is very comfortable in it. Thank you Aqua tots. I think price is reasonable as well. You are teaching my daughter a life time gift! read more

Our daughter just finished her first swim lesson with Chance. She is 2 1/2 and had no prior swim instruction. This class was great for her. She learned new skills at each class and had fun. The class sizes were small and the other children were close to her age. The instructor fills out comments after each lesson for the parents to review. My daughter really liked it and she finished all the levels. The place is nice. But the instructors change too often. My son is also enrolled. His progress has been slow. They pushed him to higher levels though. I don't see Confidence in him to swim without float even in level 5. They are flexible with schedule and make up classes. Sanitation is taken care , place is clean. They don't use chlorine in water which helps my son's skin. I recommend it. read more

Took my almost 4 year old here the beginning of the summer. He LOVED it! We have done swim lessons before at a recreational pool but the water was cold so he didn't enjoy it. The water here at Aqua-tots is warm so the kids love to get in! Loved how I could sit right by the window to the pool and see him so close. Its also nice for my toddler because they have a little play area. The place also seemed clean and we were always greeted when we walked in. Really liked the place a lot. Think its a good place for kids to learn how to swim especially because the water is warm and they have fun toys for the kids to play with when they swim in the water. Class size is usually no bigger than 4 so you know your child is getting more time during that 30 mins to learn how to swim. Great place! read more
