This place has what you need for computer stuff. You have to know what you're looking for. But they have a pretty good selection of stuff, from cables to muthaboards to bulk-pack (=cheap) memory and hard drives. And, the price can be very good. They still have their yellow-tag section of returned and discounted merchandise, but the pricing is not nearly as good and the selection is horrible. The parking lot driveway onto Memorial Drive is a death trap. Be careful. read more

I went to Micro Center last Sunday with every intention of buying a new IMac to replace my failing PC. There seemed to be only one person working in the dept and he was so busy that he could not find any time to spend with me. I was able to ask a few questions and he went running off with other customers. I was on the demonstraion model that I wanted so I found the Apple Store in Cambridge online and compared prices. The price was the same. Drove to the Apple store and bought my IMac. The service was exceptional and my new computer was up and running that night. I don't blame the employees at Micro Center, I blame the owners or stock holders. I'm not sure if it is a public company. If they were to hire more help and pay them at the same scale as Apple they would be far more successful. Customer service is everything and Micro Center does not have it. When I went to microcenter I was in the market for a high-end pc, but I wasn't feeling confident enough to build it myself. Feeling good about yelp reviews comparing the prices to top online retailers without the wait or shipping fees I decided to try to find the right prebuilt machine. I didn't find what I was looking for but then realized that I could have them build a system for the price of parts, OS cost, and a $60 setup fee. I would still have a few days wait, but the setup fee almost breaks even for the price of shipping. I found a sales rep in this department, Pelerge Charles, and this guy totally came through for me. I gave him a price range and he matched it perfectly between explaining his logic for his parts selection and running around the store hording it all. He made what could have been a painful process seamless and fairly pleasant while giving me full confidence in my build, especially considering my initial ignorance of this service causing a lack of preparation with parts selection. After I payed, they said I could most likely pick up the system in 2 days. Two days later I received an email from Pelerge as well as a phone call from the service tech to tell me the system was ready. I picked it up the day after, during which time the service tech opened up the system and showed me the craftsmanship of his work, further alleviating any uneasiness that's natural with a large purchase. That night I googled all of the parts to research ratings, and they all checked out as contenders for the top parts within their respective price ranges. I've read bad things about the employees, but that clearly wasn't my experience. Knocked one star because their return/repair area can be painstakingly slow during the day, it was for me picking it up. read more

This is my go-to-place to get any computer related electronics. If it's not too crowded, you will always be able to find someone to help you. Most of the staffs that helped me were very knowledgeable on the product they were selling and even helped me put together a desktop. The price is also much better than other electronic stores and I will even check here first before I go online shopping for any part that I need. Btw, I wouldn't recommend going here during rush hours as the traffic on the Memorial drive (and the area around it) is just terrible. Highly recommended. read more

Building my first desktop PC and after getting a lot of advice from various experience levels I finally had my parts list. The first sales associate That saw me browsing the aisles was very attendant but offered no advice or suggestions. Basically pushed the cart and opened cases. Thank goodness I had my list beforehand! Build was no problem but a faulty SSD sent me back in for service.... Received a call later that day that I needed to call them with more info but 48 hours later and no one has picked up or returned one of my 50 calls. Beware if you're buying parts from here. I had the motherboard I got fail on me after 2 months. I spoke to technician on the phone and he said to bring the whole computer in to get it returned under the manufacturers warrantee. After waiting in line at the service counter for about an hour I was told that they were supposed to have me just bring in the part and that it's going to cost me 130$ to get it taken care of. In that hour there were two people in front of me, and only one person working the counter. So now I'm out about a hundred dollars and 5 days of time. An absolute nightmare to deal with. I've been a big fan of this store so far, but this has really changed my mind about it. Edit: so after having me wait another 20 minutes the tech said that I still have to remove the motherboard myself and return it. Lovely. So now I've got to head back home and do it myself. I can confidently say that I will be buying my parts online next time. It's easier to deal with issues that way. Edit: after coming back the return process was super painless and the staff were much better at that counter. I'm more neutral about the experience as a result. read more

While the store personnel were friendly and helpful, I had to turn to online shopping to get ink not available at the store for the Brother IJ printer just bought there. I have never had such a frustrating experience trying to shop online. I spent over an hour trying to find black ink; Searching 7 pages, I found 2 listings for the color ink pack but no black ink. Using the search window to look for it specifically brought me to a page that began listing Canon and Epson ink!! If I wanted, I could then search through 400 other items to look for it--are you kidding me?? I tried "Chat' but that was also useless. After spending about 20 minutes I was told that it is a corporate decision not to stock the black ink in the stores or online!! And the credit remaining on my gift card? Can't use it online--not that I had no reason to shop here ever again. Thank goodness I had no trouble getting the remaining $42.50 on said card refunded to me. I realize that the store is probably good for true computer geeks but I will never shop at a Micro Center store again. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. We bought a Chromebook from them, and realized we need a touch screen laptop. We haven't even used the Chromebook but because we are a few days beyond the return window they won't let me exchange it. I even explained I was happy to buy the computer from them. I can't get anyone to answer the phone to confirm what the online chat told me. Given everything going on in 2020 one would hope they could follow many other retailers and offer a little flexibility and understanding to their customers. I brought my Mac to this certified handler and was expecting the same or similar situation and friendly environment to the Apple Store. The pricing to instal a new hard drive was 150% more then I was told by the authentic Apple Store. As a costumer I was upset and the situation was made worse by dismissive and confrontational managers. Please beware of high prices on apple products and do your research before accepting their price. The manager told me " I am a business man I need to make a profit" as a cried in frustration. Apple then fixed my computer for less then expected due to the Micro Centers demeaning attitude... which almost solidified my decision to drop apple products all together. read more

I called for a laptop part. They didn't have it, but the clerk was very helpful and professional.

Bought a "refurbished" mac pro less than six months ago. Mother board went out. $600 min to fix. Paid $500. It was out of the 90 day warranty. Asked the guy at the repair desk to help me out. He referred me to the manager. The manager, without hesitation, replaced the computer. Yes, there are good business man out there! One, for sure, works at Micro Center! I'll be back for my next computing purchase. read more

Don't go to Microcenter in Cambridge if you expect them to "honor" your Accidental/Damage plan.  It's crap.  They'll try to sell you something "higher priced", and say they have to "keep" your "fried" computer for 5-7 days.  They don't honor their policies, or provide good Customer Service. read more

I saw that they had an item on their website that I wanted to purchase, it noted there was only one in stock, so I wanted to contact the store & see if that was accurate. I literally spent 20 minutes on the phone, & I was still not able to reach anyone. There are no options to speak to someone, not matter what you select on the automated line, you are simply referred to their website. I attempted to contact Micro Center via their chat, even though I was the first person in the que, I STILL never received a response. I then attempted to call their tech support line, after about a 10 minute wait on hold I gave up. Since I couldn't get any assistance I purchased my product elsewhere. My husband went in to fix his laptop around Aug 7. He was asked to pay a $95.61 deposit at that point of time, which he was told would be removed from the final bill when he collects his laptop. However, the $95.61 was not removed from the final bill around Aug 12. We only found out a few days after and he called the store to ask for the refund. The store did not have any documents for this deposit charges and had been dragging their feet on making the refund. They said they would call him back when they found the documents, but they have not done so. read more

Absolutely terrible. Spent THOUSANDS of dollars with this business, only to be ripped off on a laptop purchase. Was talked into spending $100 more on an inferior computer and talked out of buying what I wanted. The salesman LIED about the computer having HDMI function, LIED about the hard drive space, and LIED and told me that windows 10 is only able to be run on a SSD, and that any computer in the price range I wanted to spend was not going to be viable. I get home, only to this computer running TERRIBLY, the speakers on it are BROKEN, and the hard drive is over 100gb smaller than advertised. Also it is complete BS that windows only runs on a SSD, it runs on any hard drive. Imagine being such a stupid, pathetic, excuse for a salesman that you rip someone off for a small commission check to lose your company thousands of dollars in future sales. I will never come back to this trash establishment ever. Learn to make sales, not make people hate your business who used to spend $1k+ per year with you. read more

The Micro Center team was unable to fix a hard disk problem in my newest iMAC, which showed a spontaneous ejection of the disk after a couple of months of use. The event corrupted the OS. Micro Center had the iMAC for two weeks. Phone inquiries either failed because their voice mail was full or they never called back. Two personal visits to the store failed to get results. Finally they reinstalled the OS and charged $99, claiming software was not covered by the warranty. The same failure occurred again about two weeks later. This time I went to the Apple Store in Burlington. They replaced the hard disk and loaded the OS in one day, no charge, on warranty. I have delayed posting this report for three months, to see if the failure would return (even though I was sure it wouldn't). The time has come to post this warning. Stay away from these guys if you have an Apple product that needs repair. read more

About 15 years ago I had sworn never to use Micro Center because of the run-around I got for a defective motherboard. I came through recently and found the service and help outstanding. I'm not overly tech savvy and each time I come I get really great assistance. I've made 3 purchases here and the customer service is the best I've ever had, the managers coming out to say thank you is an extra special touch! And now, I had an issue with what I purchased and staff members were amazingly helpful and understanding. I highly recommend this place. read more

I booked an appointment here through Apple because my keyboard was having issues. They fixed the problem in about five minutes and since it was such a quick fix they wouldn't even charge me. They were super nice and friendly the whole time and I didn't feel judged at all which can sometimes happen at tech support places. I'll definitely be coming here again for tech issues! Brought my daughter's Apple MacBook into Micro Center to repair a screen failure. They reported moisture inside, and said the repair would cost $850 (price of a new machine). I was suspicious of this diagnosis so took it to an Apple store instead. Apple replaced a screen cable under warranty and the machine works perfectly. Conclusion - Micro Center personnel are either 1) dangerously uninformed, or 2) scamming customers out of serious $. Be skeptical of any repair costs like this. read more

This place is great. I normally come in to buy but recently had an issue with my new work pc. I brought it in to the repair center and couldn't be happier with the service. They called me everyday to give me an update on the status and Peter stayed late just to make sure I was all set for work the next day. He even called me in the morning just to confirm I was good to go. Great customer service. Only complaint is they don't carry enough 3mm abs filament and one of the printers they sell only takes 3mm filament. ( Taz 6) read more

I went to Micro Center to purchase a new laptop at a brick and mortar store locally. I had done a little research on my own but was open to suggestions from staff there. I bought two laptops and was unhappy with both of them. The first computer I purchased was a returned model, so I knew there was a risk of an issue. The salesperson I spoke with framed it as if it was probably just opened and returned without use. There ended up being a problem with the battery which was common for that model. I was fine with returning it. I relied largely on the advice of Micro Center sales staff to select my second purchase - an Acer Aspire R5-471T. I needed a reliable computer for graduate school. In short, this was not a good recommendation. I have a laundry list of problems with it that don't seem unique to me (i.e. this isn't a one-of situation where I ended up with faulty hardware). I could have purchased online, at best buy, etc. but I wanted to go somewhere for advice I felt like I could trust. That wasn't my experience here. read more

When I bought my entry-level laptop, the salesman tried to make me ashamed for not buying a more expensive computer. I kept telling him "I know what you're doing man. I was a waiter for ten years. Stop trying to upsell." He kept responding "I'm a nice guy" and continued to upsell. Finally, looking seriously distraught, he lowered his voice and whispered "I'm sorry sir, there are microphones everywhere." Someone who used to work at that Microcenter a few years ago told me they had once been awesome, and then fallen off hard, and very quickly--they'd taken a completely awful turn in their management tone. He seemed sad. And now I've been on hold for, lessee... 8 minutes and 21 seconds, waiting for someone to pick up the phone on my initial phone call. No human contact. At 11:15 on a Thursday morning. My understanding is that MicroCenter excels at sales - low prices, actual customer service, quality equipment. Just stop there. Never NEVER bring your computer to MicroCenter to repair. I don't care about the 3 year extended warranty that is on my machine. It's not worth the headache and shear idiocy that ensues. A computer that was purchased for me by my employer two months ago suddenly started acting up and interrupting my work flow 3-4 times a day. Knowing that my employer also bought the (expensive) 3 year warranty for MicroCenter, I took the machine to them. I waited behind 3 other people in line, which took 45 minutes. I explained to the person at the counter the problem I was having with the machine; he seemed uninterested, and didn't bother the copy down the full error message that was coming on the screen. I got a call, on time, two days later saying that their diagnostics said that there wasn't a hardware problem, so they needed to "reimage" the machine (wipe it clean and reload the operating system). Oh yeah, that three year warranty only covers hardware issues. So, the reimage is $100. Great, glad my employer spent over $200 on a warranty. My employer is paying for the repair, so we go for the reimage. When they call two more days later to say it's ready, I ask for the total charge, since I will be paying by business check. When I go to pick up the machine (after waiting over an hour in line with only 2 people in front of me), business check written out and signed by my boss, they hand me a summary of work with a different (more expensive total). I wait another 35 minutes to talk to a manager who "okay"s lowering the price, but doesn't know how to do it himself. So, the cashier runs around, asking three other employees, before coming up with a feasible way to charge me what they quoted me. I bring the machine home, turn it on, and not an hour later have the same error message I had to start with. Insert another 45 minute wait in the repair line. Insert another inept cashier - who STILL doesn't take the transcription of the full error message from me. I get a call later that day from the technician saying, "I'm not getting any error message." "Well TRY HARDER." What else am I supposed to say? Did you even turn the machine on? It is not difficult to get this error message. You don't even need to be running any programs. So I wait, another five days, no follow up call from MicroCenter. Finally I call them. I'm told that the technician will be in at 11am. It's 11:15. He finally calls me back at 3pm and tells me that he was never able to duplicate my error message (mind you, he doesn't even know what the error message is because no one wrote it down). So, he decided to replace the hard drive. What kind of computer technician is this? You haven't spent five minutes with this computer to find out the real issue, but you go straight to reinstalling the operating system, and when that doesn't work, you just replace the hard drive. If these technicians repaired cars, they would replace an engine when your tail light went out. I still don't know what the real issue with the machine was (is?). I do know, that I probably know more about the issue from just google-ing the text of the error message. Too bad I can interpret the tech-talk in the google results! Wasn't charged a penny the second time. Am considering trying to get our money back for the first time. I'm not hopeful given their obviously low customer service standards. I now have to reinstall Office and other programs, set up all my e-mails, and import all of my data all over again. All MicroCenter managed to do with my machine, after 3 weeks of back and forth, is land me with 8 hours of computer set up to do. read more

I came in today extremely concerned and anxious about my device (a macbook pro that would not turn on). I had spoken to a rep from Apple earlier in the day and was not expecting to have my device evaluated for at least a week, and it seemed I would likely be facing a long and costly road of repairs or replacement. I came to Microcenter crossing my fingers for an available walk-in appointment (the Apple rep told me there were no more available appointments at Microcenter until Wednesday; and the schedule at all the apple stores was even later in the week). After arriving, I waited about 15 minutes to be helped. Yonas approached me with genuine concern. He recognized that I was a student and conveyed that he understood the gravity of the situation--a student without a functioning laptop is in a bit of a crisis. He assured me that his team would do everything they could to efficiently suss out the problem and provide me with my options. He brought my laptop to Wayland in the service room and asked me to stick around for an hour while they ran diagnostics. It wasn't long before they had determined the problem--corrosion to critical internal parts. As I began to make tentative plans for how I might buy a new computer or borrow one and ship mine away for repairs, Yonas returned again, with my laptop and some good news. Wayland had managed to replace the broken parts and get my computer up and running again! They had also cleaned out the corrosive material that had seeped inside, and cleaned the exterior and screen. I was extremely relieved and honestly shocked that they had fixed it. Yonas explained that my corrosion problem would not go away, and in time I will probably need to replace my device. This is useful information, as it will allow me to adequately prepare to get a new device (my school will buy one, but the process takes some time once initiated). In addition to completely solving my problem (repairing my device to full functionality in under an hour), the team at Microcenter saved me significant time and money. Every step of the way Yonas kept me informed. He was compassionate, sympathetic, and professional. I do not think I have ever had a better customer-service experience. I would also like to add that Microcenter is one of my favorite and most frequented businesses. I have been living in Cambridge since 2009 and shopping at Microcenter since a couple years before that. It is my go-to store for professional and personal technology needs. I almost always ask for help finding what I'm looking for because of how consistently useful the staff are. read more

Usually there are great promotional deals with rebates that print onto your receipts too. Their selection on just about everything is outstanding! Bought an amd fx 8350 CPU open it up and find out an amd fx 4100 CPU is in the box and it looks tampered. I go back to exchange it and they say there is nothing they can do and it wasn't their fault and could only be the manufacturer. Bullshit. One of the employees is stealing items and packing them with shit and selling it to me and possibly other customers. But they don't believe their customers when the box has the wrong CPU in it. Horrible experience! When am looking for three specific items, the store is so big I got lost looking around aimlessly and no one offered to help me or asked if I needed help. When I finally got somebody that I approached I asked them for an item that was $.99 and they try to upsell me to a $12 same item. I cannot believe that the The people work off commission. You would never know the way they ignore their customers. To top it all off when it asks where a memory card reader was the salesperson pointed across the store and said "it's over there by the cameras". Aggravation offline and on. It's tax free weekend and their inventory of computers is sorely reduced. I want the computer I want, not an inferior or superior mode. The 3 models I wanted are not in stock, AND they cannot be ordered. My next strategy - order online through MicroCenter's web store. Well, their customer service is closed on Sundays and no one bothered to program their website for the tax free weekend (unlike other large retailers), and therefore it is forcing the payment of the tax. I was happy to support a bricks and mortar store and would have been thrilled to walk out with my new laptop. Instead, I have ordered it online from an out of state vendor. I *MIGHT* have purchased another model, but it was on a top shelf and they "could not" (or would not) take it down for me to try. I can't believe how frustrating of an experience I had at Micro Center. I was referred here by Apple employees who assured me that a service to my computer would cost $90, and when I went, the employees very condescendingly wouldn't accept this price and asked for $200. I felt demeaned by the employees, who seemed to take advantage of the fact that I'm not exactly a technologically minded person. Like other reviews have said, the store part is great; big selection, knowledgeable people. But like others, I had a terrible experience with their tech support. We bought two Dells from them. One seemed to have a faulty wireless card, based on things I've read online from others with the same card. Not Micro Center's fault because it comes that way from Dell. But I expected them to fix it since I bought it there and it was still under warranty. When I checked it in, I was treated the same as everyone who brings their computer there to be fixed, not like someone who bought it there less than a year ago. When I explained the problem, the tech behind the desk didn't instill confidence. I wanted him to tell me they'd replace the card for free if that turns out to be the problem. Him: "We'll run a diagnostic." Me: "And if the wireless card is bad, will you replace it?" Him: "We'll give you a recommendation for a new card you can buy." Me: "But since it is still under warranty and I bought it here, will you replace the card for me for free?" Him: "Um...if it's under the manufacturer's warranty, I guess we could do that." He told me it would take 1 - 4 days. I waited patiently for 4 days, then started to hunt my computer down. On their website I noticed I could look up the status if I entered the ticket number, but in looking at my paperwork, I saw that he did not assign it a ticket number. So I called the main number and was transferred to tech support. It rang and rang and then disconnected me. I tried again; same thing. I waited a while and tried; same thing. I called the main number and told him what happened. He said he would write down my info on a piece of paper and walk it back to the tech support desk, and ask them to call me. 20 minutes later, nothing. I called again. He said he did give my info to the tech desk and would walk back again to remind him to call me. Again, nothing. So I jumped in my car and drove the 20 miles to Cambridge. When I got there, I could see there was nobody at the tech support counter. A man at the main counter didn't seem at all surprised that I wanted my computer back. It must happen a lot. (He was not the same person I spoke to; no accent). He disappeared into the back and brought out my computer, confirming that they hadn't looked at it yet. So now I'm just trying to go through online Dell support. Whether they are competent or not to fix a computer, I don't know. I think they are too busy and they don't give you an accurate estimate of how long it will take because they don't want to upset you. But then when it isn't ready when they promised it would be, you're more upset. Their solution is just not to answer the phone. read more

Went in August and purchased a $1800 MSI gaming laptop, with the advanced warranty for an additional $250. Fast forward to January and I turn my laptop on and I'm stuck in a restart loop, or 8.1's version of the blue screen of the death. Can't get anyone on the phone from MSI so I call the Microcenter to cash in on that warranty I purchased. Apparently despite paying for the most expensive package I only had phone tech support for 90 days, BUT I could shell out MORE money if I still wanted help with my computer or drive an hour north to the Boston location. When I explained that I purchased the top warranty that covers replacement, I was politely informed that the warranty I purchased only covers software issues and hardware problems ONLY if it's a manufacturer defect. Which means the warranty I bought into DOES NOT offer total coverage and/or replacement as I was told by the sales person. I was told by the sales person that if they couldn't repair or replace a part they would simply give me another computer. Also apparently NOT true. In the end I had to do a complete master reset, losing all of files in the process in order to avoid having a $2000 brick, and I think in total I lost almost half a terabyte of word documents, music files, work files and now I will have to download World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2 and about two dozen more games. And everyone who plays wow knows how painful it is to re-download everything. Anyway, all this a happy nerd does not make. I feel lied too and this whole thing is really aggravating and frankly ridiculous. read more

Micro Center - Computers Near Me - Cambridge, Massachusetts

I used to think very favorably toward this store, but my opinion has dropped. It used to be what a small Radioshack store hoped to grow up into. Ample selections of everything you can imagine electronic, associates who weren't preprogrammed drones or slick used car salesmen, and visiting was an *experience* for good reasons, not bad. This used to be the kind of place you could shop/hang out for an hour checking out all sorts of products, end up buying something you didn't plan on, and still want to come back in a month to do it all over again. I don't know what happened. Maybe there was a management shift that changed the once friendly associates to helpless and not-helpful tank top toting twenty year olds. (Why are men in this store wearing collared shirts and the women wearing tank tops?) Maybe having such overhead that comes from buying huge quantities of product that become non-relevant after a few years caught up to them. (Is anyone really buying those floppy disks or Dummies Guide to Windows 95?) Maybe I just grew older, more jaded, and can see things with a bit less romanticism (though I certainly hope not, I miss being naïve!) I needed a small cord last minute yesterday. I could buy it official from Apple for sixty bucks. I could buy it from Amazon for six. But I needed it same day, and Microcenter had it for twenty. I cursed myself silly for being so silly, but figured the difference of $14 was a convenience fee and still far from the $60 Apple wanted. Did I mention I needed it same day and had no choice anyway? I check online for stock and they are available, great! I see an option for in-store pickup, even better so I don't have to spend time looking, which helps since I'm stressed for time. You can't buy online or do the in-store pickup with making an account (lame, just lame) and that was annoying. Especially annoying since you need to create a "nickname" for you're account (even though you're only using it this once) and it can't be one already chosen by someone else. Is there a forum that people post to with these accounts? Why is this needed? I digress. Place the order, pay online to save another step in-store, arrive 45 minutes later. Wait in the pick-up line a few minutes. Finally get up and meet the slowest sales associate I have ever seen. "What... is... your... last... name?" I tell him. "So... it... is... 'last...name'...?" He gets my package from associate next to him, my associate suddenly notices, "Oh... its...all...all...already paid for." He then jokingly harasses his coworker to handle it for him. "Say... why...don't...you...do...this since it's a... prepaid." Coworker is busy. "...Fiiiiiiiine." Associate leaves to get*something* and I watch the drawn out walking departure, followed by the slowest walk back physically possible in this dimension of time and space. So he gets back, has a sheet of paper with my info on it. I have my ID ready. Associate s l o w l y folds paper in half. He looks at me, looks back to the half sheet of paper. S L O W L Y folds that in half too. He looks at me. "Sorry," he mumbles, "can I see your ID?" I hand my ID over, but he doesn't take it, instead reevaluating his creases on the folded paper, ultimately deciding to fold again. A female coworker hops over and grabs a bag next to my associate "Do you need this (1) did you need this (2) did you want this (3) do you need this (4)" My associate never looks at her, she walks away looking a bit annoyed, maybe because her shirt was so small it was cutting off her circulation though. The "18 Minute In Store Pickup" is accurate, because from meeting my sales associate and leaving the store with the item I ordered, it took 18 minutes. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this place. First, and foremost. Their products are great, you can always find great deals, and they hold anything electronic or computer-related. This is THE place to go. I regularly spend hundreds of dollars every time I come here. However, their customer service is somewhat lacking. They hire some people who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. For instance, they claim that a VGA-HDMI adapter requires a power supply - No, they only happen to sell one like that. One person tried to dissuade me from buying a Samsung monitor because it's supposedly "inferior to Asus" - So I asked for statistics on why, and he says "because I had a Samsung and it broke after a month". Not very scientific. Also, they do this packaging thing where they sell unbranded items in plastic bags for great prices. I tried returning one without that cheap plastic bag, and the woman at customer service tells me "I'm doing you a huge favor because we need the SKU# and identification on the bag." No, you do not. News flash: the identification is all on the cable itself! I brought the receipt for the defective item. You don't need the cheapo plastic baggie it came in to ID it. You aren't doing me any favors. It's a $12 cable put in bag with a QVS sticker on it. Also, stop with the commission-craze. I know your employees need to make commission, but when they're all trying to swoop in just to get their little barcode sticker on your item for "helping" you, it gets annoying real fast. I paid for a two-year protection plan on January 1, 2016 and made sure that it covered physical damage. The salesperson assured me that I was covered for physical damage. When physical damage occurred, I went in today (October 19, 2016) to try and get a replacement. All of the floor guys told me that I should be covered for a replacement and even printed out proof to show the people at Returns and Exchanges. Peter, the manager of Returns and Exchanges, decided not to honor the warranty I paid for for no reason. His underlings apologized, stating that the manager gets to decide whether something is covered under warranty, not the writing of their own coverage plans. I have never experienced such condescension in my life till i set foot in this store. Sure, you can find computer odds and ends here but it goes down from there if you must speak to a sales associate. I was looking for a specific brand of usb3 card (for high speed cameras) and microcenter did not carry it (which is totally fine) but the sales associate spoke down to me when I did not want to buy another brand of card-again this may seem trivial but it is important that everything stay consistent. I really didn't appreciate the condescending attitude from the guy and let him know (i was taken aback and a little put off but i was polite). Bottom line, i'll probably never shop here again. Amazon and newegg make you wait a day or two but at least they spare you the 'tude. read more
